Kobe Drop and Floral Old Fashion

Stumbled upon Kobe as a restaurant recommendation from the front desk as I checked in to my hotel. Without a doubt Ashland always seems to impress me with their restaurant/food scene. My co-workers and I were in town for work and were thoroughly impress at how fresh their sushi tasted. For starters, we had their lobster tempura, yellowtail carpaccio, Sunshine roll. and edamame. I probably would have preferred their regular tempura, but their yellowtail carpaccio was delicious. Another standout was their sunshine roll. For main entree, we each ordered a sashimi/nigiri set. Their selection of nigiri fishes were standard but good. As for dessert, we had shared their creme brulee which was perfect to end our meal.

Great food, great service!! We went back after not being there for a while and it was amazing! We got six rolls, three appetizers and a dessert and they were all delicious! The service was excellent! We'll definitely be going back soon!

I didn't expect to run into such a top notch sushi spot deep in southern Oregon. The fish was fresh and high quality. In the rolls, the chef had an ability to pair ingredients that emphasized texture, all the while working in excellent flavors. The darru and surf and turf rolls were a highlight. The sea urchin roll was out-of-this-world, like a bite of delicious ocean. Starting with the wagyu sliders was a great contrast to the cold sushi dishes. Fatty beef, seared, with salty seasoning and pickles. Excellent! The service was struggling the night we went. They held us up at the bar 20 minutes past our reservation time. They only seated us because we gave up on waiting for an outdoor table. It then took 20 minutes to meet the server and order, and another 45 minutes to start eating. Ultimately the food exceeded the flaccid service. I will be back, but not on a night when I'm in a hurry.

The fish is good quality, but a little overpriced. The peach appetizer was expensive and had too much vinegar, making it too sour. The portion sizes are small, so you might still feel hungry. The service was good, and the environment is relaxing, especially with the creek nearby.

When you come to Kobe, you're really just coming for the atmosphere. The food is priced for the patio seating next to the creek. Very nice for a date, family time, or solo. Service can be hit/miss, but at least everyone is friendly. The menu description is very enticing, but the delivery somehow falls a little short for the value. I may be a bit harsh, but for the price (even with the ambiance), I would like for the sushi rice to be seasoned appropriately. Probably one of the most difficult things to achieve when making nigiri. Again, for the price point, I am expecting the rice to shine. I will be back as all of the above are not deal breakers due to the location, but wanted to help manage readers' expectations.

A happy hour menu was posted in the window-from 4-5pm every day of the week. We got in during happy hour and were able to score one of the few outdoor creekside tables. It was super pleasant to be able to sit outside and hear the creek while eating delicious food. Ordered the house made blackberry soda-pretty good. Also had the happy hour fried chicken and hh burger, as well as the scallops off of the main menu. The burger was thick and juicy. My kids and husband said the fries were some of the best they've had-crispy exterior and soft interior. Fried chicken had a light crispy coating on the outside and the honey Aleppo mixture was great, though son said it could've used a little more salt. My scallops were some of the best scallops I've ever had before--so well cooked and perfectly seasoned and with these thinly sliced snap peas that were just barely blanched that added texture and freshness to the dish. For dessert I had the olive oil cake with fresh berries--so delicious and perfect way to top off the meal. Service was pretty good. Would def be back!

Our server apologized that the bar tender was swamped and our drinks were almost coming. We ordered 3 cocktails and a lemonade. The bread came, so we did have bread and water. At 6:45 our drinks arrived and then we began the wait for the food (two pastas, scallops and a duck leg). Finally we asked to see the manager. Our server was young and polite and very green and did not know how to handle the situation. The manager was curt, defensive and unhelpful. The food was overcooked and my duck leg was overcooked and dry. We then attempted to negotiate with the manager about some kind of compensation. He was not happy. We left with the drinks comped and 10% off the food. The manager blamed the slow service on a computer malfunction because there was a power outage earlier in the week. I have lived in Ashland for 51 years and I have never had such a bad meal and terrible service and it was not the servers fault , but poor management. I will never go to this restaurant again. My guests were from LA and having been coming here for years and I felt very embarrassed. The fact we had to ask fir compensation was startling. The is a high end restaurant with expensive prices but the food ate like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The pasta was mushy $35, the duck was one overcooked leg, 50$ and the scallops were dry and tasteless .

It's developed a local cult following for sporting events. We watched most of the World Cup 26 games out there and enjoyed slices and beers. Maybe I'll see you there. Pro tip here is to not sleep on the salads. They are made really well, with balanced flavors and textures. It's a perfect meal to get the lunch special which comes with a salad of your choice (I recommend the Creekside salad) and a slice of pizza. The main issue is if you are a pizza snob (guilty as charged), the bakes on the pizzas are really inconsistent. They often don't use a cooling rack when the pizzas come out, so the crust instantly becomes moist from trapped steam. When the kitchen is slammed, the pizzas are flop city, and sometimes a soupy mess. If they set up quality measures to get a nice crisp crust, they could keep up with their cross-town rivals in the plaza. For now they trail on pizza quality due to inconsistency. Because of all this, I think of Creekside as more of a bar than a specialty pizza place. I enjoy it for what it is, which is pretty darn good.

Not only was the vibe fun (it really is "creekside") but the indoor space was cute, quiet, relaxing. As a plant-based eater I was able to find a sandwich there that could be modified to vegan, and it was delicious. My husband had a slice of pizza and salad and really liked it too. It's on our list of places to stop at next time we are going through the area!
