Trivia: The nomadic Tatars (or Tartars) of this place are credit with the original steak tartare a meat they placed under their saddles to tenderize it and then eat it raw as they traveled. The star of the steak tartare was actually the bread. Most breads I have that look like this one are HARD and CRUNCHY and make a huge MESS. This one, while it looked the part, was soft and delightfully chewy. Perfect for the steak and the roasted garlic oil mix that accompanied the tartare. Service was okay. I felt like I was sort of an afterthought. One of the bartenders and other servers sort of took better care of me than my actual server. He did apologize when the second glass I ordered before my meal arrived as I was eating the last bites of my meal. The filet was a great cut and cooked perfectly. The au jus was barely needed, but good. The bar dining wasn't air conditioned and it was quite toasty. Not sure if the rest of the restaurant was air-conditioned. The patio was high level.

Truly some of the best meals of our lives here! The food is exquisite (especially the duck confit) and the staff are so friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We especially appreciated our lovely server Molly who went out of her way to accommodate us. A must for us when we visit Ashland.

Excellent fine dining experience. I visited my cousin here for my bday and she showed me to all of the exquisite eateries and shopping. This little town is so quaint and lovable with GOOD food and hospitality! The wait staff is a dream....they were so attentive and genuinely good folks!!! We arrived to be a part of their happy hour and was not disappointed! When in this part of Oregon again, i will definitely pay another visit.

My husband and I booked a table at Alchemy for dinner before we planned to go to a concert. The ambience was so lovely, and the food was so good, that we ended up skipping the concert so we could linger over dessert an a digestif. We had the sourdough and butter trio to start, and we could have just kept ordering more of that and been perfectly happy. The bone marrow butter was especially good. And the bread was pleasingly soft even when toasted and crunchy on the outside. I got the filet mignon and my husband had the duck confit for main. Both were incredibly. The chef's artistry made you want to slow down and consider each bite. And our waiter recommended the perfect bottle of local wine to set them off. Dessert was a pear frangipane tart and a chocolate hazelnut tart; both were very nice and made a lovely close to the meal. There is an extensive list of digestifs, and I got an incredible 1998 Sauternes that truly capped the night. We cannot wait to come back to Alchemy, and would recommend it to anyone looking for an incredible culinary experience.

Food was amazing. Duck was soft, crunchy skin and wonderful sauce. Beef tartar was fresh with very toasted sourdough slices. Loved the atmosphere and decoration. Felt cozy warm and quiet environment. The dining meant to slow and enjoyable over conversation.

We visited Alchemy for a couple drinks and some snacks after work on a Thursday. The bar had a healthy amount of customers with still room for some more Drinks: the drinks were phenomenal. Very unique flavors, clearly not being stingy on the contents. Beautifully crafted and quick as well. Some of the cocktails were reasonably priced but some got a little higher than I believe a cocktail should be. (A few were $12, most were $16, and one was $18 if my memory serves but take that last one with a grain of salt) Food: the pomme frites were delicious with a ketchup that was clearly higher quality and a lemony dip for the second. These were $9 but they had truffles and garlic (?) in them and were very full of flavor so the price was worth it for a nice appetizer Located in a beautiful house like building, I look forward to trying dinner here

I have been several times for happy hour and sent family there for special occasions and the food is great, the staff professional and so kind.

Just Wow , Wow , Wow! Such an amazing restaurant. If you are a foodie and love dining for the love of new and exciting dishes, this is the place for you. Do not be turned away because of the prices. You will definitely be getting your moneys worth. I would much rather pay a high price and walk away blown away by such incredible meal than go some place for an average meal. I sat in the bar area and enjoyed speaking to the bartender who gave me excellent recommendations on what to eat. If you love mushrooms, get the mushroom flan appetizer. It was full of flavor . So good. Nothing like I had ever had. It was delicious.

Our table was in their patio space, which I actually like better than the indoor part of the restaurant. The patio space feels very open and has a lot of live plants in the planters that make space between tables. It was a little warm on the patio since it was 98 degrees outside, but they keep it relatively cool on this mostly enclosed patio. Our server was great. She was so friendly and fun to talk to. She helped us figure out what we wanted to order and checked in on us just the right amount. You can tell the food here is very fresh and homemade. We started with the Deviled Eggs, which are really special. I love how they serve them over a bed of crushed up potato chips as they give this dish some salty crunch. Next we had the Beet salad, which is marinated beets over a whipped cheese. The beets do have a strong vinegar flavor, but it's balanced out beautifully by the cheese. My wife ordered the Mushroom Bolognese, which was probably the best dish of the evening. This is an incredible, vegetarian dish that is so meaty without any meat. The finely diced mushroom sauce is so good along with the handmade noodles. Also, adding burrata to it gives it a perfect creaminess. I ordered the pork chop, which was also excellent and enormous. It did take me a lot longer to eat since it was a little hard to cut, the compote on top added a great sweetness, but I feel like it could've used more. Also, the polenta and grilled asparagus was awesome. Lastly, we got the Rice Pudding for dessert. It comes with a hazelnut crumble and a dolce de leche sauce. Normally, I feel like rice pudding has a kind of thin, milky consistency, but not this. It is think and has a wonderful texture. It is probably the best rice pudding I've ever had. The nuts give a satisfying crunch and the dolce de leche sauce is light and sweet. Disclaimer: we did order one dish we really didn't like. It was a special salad with endives and lentils. The server was happy to get us another dish.

The food here is great! A little pricey, but definitely worth the price for the quality. The salads…read moreare fresh and creative, and the main courses are well-made and delicious. Speaking, the brisket in the Banh Mi was unfortunately tough and lacked the tenderness you'd expect from a properly smoked or braised cut. It had the distinct texture of a pre-packaged Sysco-style product, or perhaps it was a cold portion reheated on a flat top without being properly rehydrated, leaving it dry and chewy. I understand that protein carries a high food cost, especially in the current market. However, a more effective approach might be to balance the menu engineering by leaning on lower food cost items, like seasonal sides or creative vegetarian options, to offset the expense of sourcing and correctly preparing higher-end brisket. This would allow for a better product that justifies its price point, covers its own cost, and ultimately helps the company's bottom line while maintaining the quality standards this town deserves. I'd love to see a return to the quality I experienced a few years ago. All and all, despite the brisket. The service was kind and friendly.
