I'd heard that this restaurant had been cleaned up and was much better. The food was OK, but we had a brand new chef. First time ever. Hadn't been trained and it was Mother's Day. He was confused, apologetic and it really wasn't his fault. The managers/owners tried to apologize but they didn't offer to make it right. We ordered the most expensive thing on the menu. The lobster was tough and portions were small because the poor chef couldn't get it right. When I complained, the manager (I think) apologized again -- but once again didn't offer to make it right-- she ended with "Shoji's is right down the road." Under the new management, this place has completely turned around. Most of the teppan tables were full right after the 5:00 p.m. opening. Chef Robert was incredibly entertaining. The generous portions leave enough for the next day's lunch. The owners were very kind, checking to make sure we were enjoying everything. Our server Stephanie yesterday was kind and prompt with our service. We enjoyed their miso soup and 4 rolls... The sushi Master, Mr. Oh, was even kind enough to customize the spiciness of the rolls for me... I like a little less spice. All was fresh and delicious. It's not "fine dining" quality sushi but still tastes good. The menu was adequate for my needs with enough variety to keep it interesting. The service is not the best, but I'm fine with that. I ordered take-out ahead of time and a very overwhelmed man took my order on the phone and apologized ahead of time for the long wait. Chefs were hilarious, food was amazing, decor was entertaining, service was fast and accurate, and OMG i honestly said out-loud "this is the BEST fried rice i've ever had!" and our table-mates agreed. Not impressed:( Restaurant was empty...and it took two waitresses almost 15 minutes to tell us "just another minute"... then, the waitress said "well if you just wanted a table, just go find one... no need to wait"... So we sat down... waiting for service in an ice cold restaurant (thank goodness we were wearing sweatshirt and jackets or it would have been unbearingly cold).. We waited another 10 minutes to be able to ask for drinks (hot tea at this point!!!)... and waitress said: "I'll be back for the food order when u have time to look at it" .. We quickly said: no really we are good to order... So we ordered: sushi apps and teriyaki main course... 20 minutes later...we get: " Miso soup"- literally watered down bouillon cube with fresh green onions.. and "salad"- thin sliced cabbage douced in rice wine vinegar... Then: sushi apps... rice bowls (way undercooked and no seasoning) and a few bowls of sauce that the guy said : " they are all different, you'll figure it out".. then the protein with pretty much raw vegetables... We ate what we could stomach... left... Still sitting here at home with upset stomach and trying to figure out whatever happened to this once amazing place:( So sad to waste a pre-Christmas family dinner on a place like this :( read more

The bar tender took three other people's orders and served them before she saw me standing there and remembered she forgot my order. We weren't seated for dinner until 9 and nobody even showed up to our table to take our orders until 10!! Finally the owner himself, Mr. Osaka, came to cook our food. No apologies, no free comps, NOTHING. We didn't get the "show" that usually comes with this type of dining (I'm sure because we were the last customers in the dang restaurant. ) He literally made food for 12 people in less than 10 mins. About an hour and half before they closed we went in (party of 3) and waited for several minutes before anyone came out to greet us, then she tried to "squeeze" us in on a table that was already starting their hibachi style Dinner, these people had already had appetizers and ordered and the chef already had all of their food on the cart, he said that we wouldn't be able to join the table, which we did not want to because we did not want to be rushed. The server then informed us that he was the only chef available and we would have to wait for him to be done with the table before us. Needless to say we left and won't be going back, you should be able to come to a restaurant almost two hours before they close and at least expect more than one person working the chef side and one person working the entire floor as a server/hostess/busser. read more

Further, the waitress took our drink orders and 45 min later we still didn't have all our drinks. My grandson ordered sushi that arrived after the meal was over and then he got food poisoning from the sushi. Most expensive bust of a dinner we have ever had to endure. Sushi was phenomenal! We got lucky and got mr oh for our chef for the night and we were not disappointed! I had the New York strip and chicken and it was wonderful. The steak literally melted in our mouth! My fiancé had the fillet and chicken and his steak was probably the most tender thing we have ever had in our life! The only reason I gave it four stars instead of 5 was because it took us almost 30 minutes for a waitress to seat us at a table while it was slow. The cook asked a guy at my table how he likes his steak done, he said rare, and the cook jokingly said well done ... next thing you know the guy said dude I said rare and his steak was well done . I never got my sushi I ordered , found out at the end they gave it to the wrong people. The waitress never came to give refills on water or ask if we needed anything. They don't have yum yum sauce....what kind of hibachi place doesn't have yum yum one chef that does everything... mid cooking he had to leave to go make sushi ... I will say the food tasted good but it's not worth the experience . The place feels dirty as well. One of the table grill chefs went on break and had a shirt that said, "Retired drug dealer". Unprofessional. The food was ok, not great. The vegetables on the side were barely cooked and nearly raw. If you want teppanyaki then go to Shojis. Experience and food there is 100% better. I will not be back to Oh's. read more

Oh boy where do I start. Key word, filthy... front doors are absolutely covered in fingerprints, dripping mystery liquids, literally just filthy. We get inside, sit down, and my mom goes to the bathroom. While she's in the bathroom finding bugs, literally bugs coming up from the drain, no paper towels nor soap, hand prints on everything... I am sitting at the table and reach for the salt and realize my hands are now sticky, the salt is completely stuck to the countertop, and the salt in the shaker is completely stuck to the bottom. When is the last time these shakers have been sanitized...? Then my mom goes to take a drink of her water, but someone else's lipstick lined the rim of the glass so.... Cute shade of lipstick, but didn't belong to us:/ also, there's no ac in there, it's absolutely boiling in there and the food is so salty that water would've been a total dream lol. There was also quite an unappealing sauce stain splattered on the wall behind my family. It was dark red, obvious splatter spot and then dripping down the wall. This place would desperately benefit from a Clorox wipe...... or several. Honestly, the fact that literally everything I reached for and touched left me feeling sticky and dirty, will keep me from ever going back here or recommending it to anyone. This was the dirtiest establishment I have ever been to.... Honestly am still waiting for the food poisoning to kick in.... Or the bacterial infection from using that bathroom.
