The restaurant was still busy, with one large group of about ten people wrapping up their meal and three four-top tables just getting their food. The, and I selected the 12-piece menu item, was really good, but I do wish there was more variety of fish in a 12-piece dish. Miso is served with the sashimi but rice is not. I also ordered the Ikura Nigiri and it was great - salmon roe was very cold though (needs to be stored at a certain temp, I get it) so I waited for it to not feel frozen before finishing the second piece. Overall, great serving size but I don't know if I'd get the same sashimi again since you only get four kinds of fish for a rather high cost. I tried asking the server what the difference was between the 9 and 12 piece and they did say "more of the same but better" and I'm still not sure what it means so the next time they update the menu they really should offer more detail on this item. read more

I have loved coming to this restaurant for years due exclusively to their lobster roll. However, what once was a plated dish with a clear indication of lobster inside the roll visually by a cracked Lobster tail and a beautiful display of edible flowers now a basic roll. It took me a minute to distinguish the lack of lobster due to the overwhelming amount of imitation crab, but at the end of the role I could tell what once was lobster is now a subpar fish. You never Fry lobster, and the fish that was in this roll was coated and fried. When I brought this to the service attention, she took it upon herself to talk to the chefs who came over and indicated to me that they didn't know what lobster taste like. In an economy where food prices are increasing, and it's very clear food quality is diminishing. I was incredibly unhappy with my experience. I will say the server was delightful and their miso soup is absolutely outstanding. The portions here are actually huge, I'd suggest sharing if you're just looking to fill your appetite. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box - this came with 4 gyoza, 4 California rolls, rice, salad, and the chicken teriyaki itself. The chicken teriyaki was juicy and standard, the gyozas were on the oily side, and the rice tasted like it had a little too much water since it was mushy lol. As for the salad, the dressing was good! It was terribly hot out and we were surprised to find nobody else in the restaurant, except us. We ordered four different rolls spider,las Vegas, crunchy and Tempura. It took us 10 minutes for a server to get our order, and we also asked for chopsticks, as well as our bill split by the 4 of us. 7 minutes go by, and the same server had to retake our order because he didn't properly write it down. This little girl that served us tonight, should be fired. She had horrible service, the WORSTE attitude and I got charged for a sliver of lemon after asking for it twice. When I asked for the lemon to be taken off, a dollar for lemon that would be free for your water anywhere else, they refused. She was so rude about it and the entire time serving us she was super sarcastic and disrespectful. As her third day and being a server you think you'd want to treat your customers good, so you're not just getting paid minimum wage. We were out in Oregon this past weekend and stopped by Misoya Bistro. The waitress was very nice. They greeted us immediately and got us water to start with. It was a hot day. We ordered kabi korean marinated rib eyes and it came with the sides of salad, purple rice, and banchan. We also ordered dukcook, didn't know what it was but it is rice noodle with beef and dumplings, kimchi stew and a kid's teriyaki chicken combo. The ribeye and banchan was excellent. Flavor was all there. The salad was awesome. Dressing tasted soo good!! Purple rice def. Has a different aroma and taste. The dukcook was less flavorful, but a little soy sauce and hot sauce helped. Kimchi stew was too hot and we didn't get to really eat it in the restaurant, however when it did cool down once we got home. Man!!! It was sooooo delicious!!! The teriyaki was on point!! If you would like to spend 75 -100 to not eat with your the people you are dinning with this is the place for you. We have had repetitive bad service here. Today I watched as people came, got sat, ordered and served sushi, while my partner had his food and I waited for my rolls. My rolls that sat, getting warm for over 20 minutes on the counter. The only reson I was served over an hour after ordering my rolls was because I flaged down a waitress. When I brought up my concerns, this waitress was defensive and rude. The original waitress that took our orderes did not check on us after my partners food was served. We left an hour after that at least. This is not the first time have bad service at this restaurant. We have had slow, inattentive, rude service. Last summer we left before ordering because the had the door open, the tables had bins of soiled platewear, and the resurant was swarming with flys. Tonight was a special occasion and we risked it again. We would like our $76+ back. When stranger at a table (seated after you) is leaving and makes a comment about how poor you service and food quality is you know there is a serious issue. read more

I LOVE misoya bistro. I've been going here for years, way before the pandemic shut down. I will say this: throughout the years their food has ALWAYS been good. I have to stop myself from ordering the Alaska roll more then once a week. It's my greatest weakness. I'm super picky with sushi from growing up in Alaska and this place has always been my favorite. Outside of sushi, the rest of their menu is amazing too. I'll never stop going here. You get GOOD sushi and decent sized rolls for a good price. I will say that you can tell the pandemic hit this place HARD, like most places in Medford. I dont think people realize how hard the shut down has hit the restaurant industry - the worst part about coming here is how the customers treat the staff. The staff are always overwhelmed, they need help. I served for quite a few years while finishing college and damn I feel for the entire staff here. Idk when people forgot that servers are people too. Five out of six people in our dinner party last Monday got a terrible food poisoning. My 6 yo granddaughter is still throwing up. It's Friday now. We ate on Monday, at 6pm. It hit me like a ton of bricks at 4am on Wednesday. I had no idea what to think about it until I heard from my daughter that all 4 of them got sick too that night. And Misoya was the only place where we ate all together. It was truly horrible! There were moments I didn't think I'd live. Never been this sick in my life! Yesterday I was finally able to talk and think straight, so I called the restaurant to let them know. I was very civil and simply stated what happened. I got yelled at by the owner! She basically said unless I have some medical proof, she doesn't have to believe me! No apology was offered. We came in for lunch last Saturday. We actually had great service, and the food was outstanding. I can understand the labor shortage is crushing people these days, due to the nonsense going on out there and people refusing to work. Everything seem to be handled fine in the restaurant, and the other customers seemed happy and well attended. Sad to see so many other reviews of people being so nasty. Do not eat at this establishment. My husband and I did today, and I normally get the Kalbi ribs. They come with several types of Kimchee, rice and tempura. The price was dramatically gone up at $30.00 but I ordered it anyway. They brought my husband's food out first and a few minutes later the waitress came over to tell me they no longer came with the Kimchee dishes. I said OK but does it come with the tempura, she said not just ribs and rice. No salad no soup, nothing. I was not happy and told her that the ribs (12 single bone ribs or three whole strips) was not worth $30.00 and when my husband asked why it went up so much, she said the owner told her "Kalbi ribs are very expensive". I told her to tell him to take them off the menu if that is the case. He knew we were not happy, but I got the feeling he doesn't give a rip. We will not be back!! I've been here a couple times now. The first time I got the sunset roll and it was super delicious! It's a lemony roll that tastes so light and fresh. Sometimes big sushi rolls can feel really saucy and the rice can leave you feeling stuffed. Not the sunset roll. A must get. Second time around I branched out more and got the cheesy wontons and Hamachi Dragon roll and had to get the Sunset roll again. All were delicious!!! I don't regret any. What I loved the most was the service. They were ON TOP of it for us. On a Friday night busy time, we were in and out. I was so surprised. I've never gotten my sushi rolls and appetizer that fast!
