I found this place by accident and man, am I glad I did! I ordered the spicy teriyaki chicken (more spice flavor than teriyaki flavor) and it is SUPER delicious!!! It has the perfect mixture of flavor, chicken, vegetables (carrots, cabbage, green onion, and white onion). My order was ready in 10 minutes!!! Also, while I waited for my food, I perused their sushi counter and it appears they have really fresh fish so I will be coming back!!! The only negative is they don't offer brown rice, but honestly, the food is too good to let that negative get in the way of my coming back here. read more

We continue to try this place and I would say 60% of the time we have a good experience but in a smaller town you need a place you can count on. The last few times we have been here we have had a negative experience. One time a hair in a roll. They did bring us a new roll but that was it. No sorry, no other recognition about it. The next time we came in, 45 minutes BEFORE they were going to close and after ordering drinks and an appetizer, which they brought out, we were then told they were "out of rice"!??? They had us pay our bill at no discount and leave. It was so bad. I will never go back there. So buyer beware... if you go here it might be great but it could totally suck. I would PASS on the 10pcs sashimi combo (fresh, but not filling - small portions) $16.95 This combined with an appetizer (to share) was perfect for a pit stop, but $50 later... not a filling meal for 3. The service was not noteworthy. We had to ask for water each time, but it gave us something to do while we waited *lol*. The food was NOT served quickly, but when it arrived it was as ordered; no issues. A friend recommended us to go here so we came on a date night hoping to do dinner and a movie. Unfortunately, we only got to the dinner part because it took them AN HOUR AND A HALF to make two rolls. We ordered the crater comet appetizer which we asked for spicy tuna. The server gave us the crab version. Not a big deal until the rest of dinner was also incorrect. Our server was VERY unprofessional. After waiting for over an hour, she came to us - word by word, i repeat - and said, "It's been so long since you've ordered your food that I forgot which sushi roll you ordered." Ummm excuse me ? Yes, we have been waiting for a long time...thanks for letting us know. She tries to put a spicy tuna roll in front of us but we tell her we didn't order it. She goes back to the counter to find out who she's supposed to give that order to. We also never got our waters refilled. We ordered the volcano and the galaxy roll. So-so. Mediocre. Nothing special. After we were done with our dinner, and we were waiting for the check with our plates cleaned and neatly placed at the end of the table, the server comes back and tried to give us another roll but we said we never ordered that one either. We came here for dinner, Jon, Maureen, and I. The waitress kindly explained that they were running low on some things from a busy night but that they would substitute and accommodate us. We got edamame, potstickers, Flaming Philadelphia Roll(with avocado instead of the crab), spicy tuna, spicy salmon, California roll, and the Zen Zen roll. My. Flaming. Philly. Roll. Was. Sooooooo. Good. That was my favorite. I enjoyed all of the others, as well, and the potstickers had awesome flavor. Our service was fantastic, and we were in and out pretty quickly. They make every order of sushi in front of you while not only creating sushi but socializing with the guests which isn't very common in sushi places! I've tried sushi all up and down this coast line and this is by far one of my favorites! Had to change my former 4 star review to this. The place has totally changed. Not only was server rude as hell when I asked where their salmon is from, nor did she even bother to ask for me. I got a nice sharp bone in the sushi roll to stab my mouth too. Never has that happen in my life... Our chicken teriyaki came out 20 minutes after we got there, but my sushi came out nearly 40 minutes later. Nice to have your date eat at totally separate times.. My water was empty the whole time without being checked on once. Food quality is also not the same if the white dude is the chef of the night. read more

Was recommended by a family member so decided to try it out. We went in at 2:20 not realizing they close at 2:30. We were ready to leave and the waitress offered to prepare a to-go order. At this point, we felt bad and asked if she was sure it was ok, which she reassured us it was not a problem. Then proceeds to lecture them in front of us, that 1st they should not be taking to-go orders at 230 and 2nd that they need to lock the door 5 min before closing. He was visibly & vocally upset he had to prepare our sushi order. To make matters worse, they screwed up our order & gave us 2 of the same rolls, everything was just thrown in containers (sauce leaked into bag) & they forgot to give us edamame that we paid for. The ONLY reason i'm giving 2 stars is because the girl who took our payment (girl with pinkish purple hair) was super nice & I felt she was embarrassed by his behavior. Decided to drive a little further to try this place and I'm sure glad I did! The restaurant is cozy, well lit and while on the smaller side seemed like it could still accommodate a fair amount of people. The sushi menu offered several options and they all sounded good. We settled on miso soup, a super dragon roll and a pine street roll. Everything was delicious! They even give you a little treat at the end of your meal (spoiler alert: it's a small bite of fried banana drizzled with chocolate and topped with whipped cream) Our server was sweet and very attentive with service. We watched a news story about how Zen Zen's business was being affected by road construction on Pine Street, so we decided to show local support by trying it. I have passed this restaurant many times but the signage is not eye-catching so missed it. The sushi was excellent and my wife and I are extremely fussy about what we consider good or wonderful. I can't say that I have ever had seared salmon sushi but it was indeed remarkable. Zen Zen is a diamond in the rough of many restaurants in the Rogue Valley that I would consider mediocre. The food was excellent, however I asked the server for extra ginger, she ended up not bringing it to us until after we had already finished eating our food, and still charged us for it which I thought was odd because the restaurant was in no way busy. The menu has no descriptions of most of the rolls so my daughters tuna roll was just that tuna and rice. The bathrooms were also dirty which says a lot about the kitchen. Loved this place! This was my first visit to a restaurant in Central Point. Sing, a lovely sushi chef served me at the counter. He created a "Central Point Roll" which had crab, cream cheese and lightly breaded with panko bread crumbs and fried. WOW! It was like butter in my mouth! So delicious! If I can go back during this trip I will. It was spectacular. I also had another roll which Sing recommended which was also good. The fish was fresh, the service terrific and I watched the waitress hug some return customers. If you are looking for ambiance, this is not the place to go. I sat at the counter which very much felt like a 50's lunch counter. But who cares about ambiance when the food is great and the prices are right! I've driven through Medford many, many times on I-5, but I'm in the middle of my first real stint in town (here for 10 days for work). I've been asking a lot of locals (and Yelping) to find the hidden treasures around here - and I think that Zen Zen definitely qualifies as a hidden gem! Because I'm staying and working out of Medford, I would have never known about this fantastic restaurant in Central Point if it hadn't been for the recommendation of a colleague. We had lunch here on Monday - and what a lunch it was! We started with the garlic edamame and cucumber salad- HIGHLY recommend! The beans are steamed but then smothered in a garlic-chili sauce that is spicy, but not overpowering. Even though they're called "garlic", it's not solely a garlic flavor. Very, very tasty. I really enjoyed the cucumber salad, too. It was perfectly sour and they sprinkled it with sesame seeds which game the salad an earthier flavor than I'm used to - really a nice touch. My friend and I shared three rolls. This plate was a work of art! It was as pretty as it was tasty! We had the Central Point roll for free (my friend saved her receipt from the last visit so it qualified us for a freebie!), and added a volcano roll and a spicy roll - it's killing me that I can't remember the name, but it had a white fish inside with jalapeno and avocado (I think) and it was topped with spicy tuna and spicy mayo sauce. All three rolls were absolutely delectable! The volcano roll with the baked seafood topper was a whole lot of creamy goodness. The spicy roll had some good heat, but wasn't over-the-top. Service was quick & friendly - our waters never got below half-full and the pot of tea was kept piping hot. We even got a little dessert - a tempura-fried banana with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. A perfect little two-bite finale to a fantastic lunch. I'm only in town for 10 days but I'll have to find time to get back to Central Point for more of what Zen Zen has to offer! read more

I was totally prepared for this place to suck because... well... it's in Central Point! But I've been here three times within the last two months! The first time, I went with my boyfriend, and we each got the Beef Bento Box and were VERY happy with it! Since then, I've come twice by myself, and the service was really great. The last time I went, there was a belligerently drunk table and the waitress was extremely apologetic. She comped my order of sake even though I told her it wasn't necessary. They give you a coupon for a free sushi roll for your next visit which is awesome! At the end of your meal, they bring you a really yummy complimentary fried banana dessert. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was their Octopus Salad. I got it because another reviewer said it was awesome. It wasn't horrible, but I've had way better. read more
