First the good...food was delicious. We had edamame for an appetizer. Then there were two 'specials' that sounded spectacular. I had butter fish with roasted vegetables and my wife had scallops with vegetables. We each had 1 glass of Pinot noir. Now the not so good...shame on me for not asking the price of the specials but our bill was $177! I find that to be very expensive for Medford and if we do go back I will ask the price of the specials or just get the pad Thai. read more

Ordered to go. It's very expensive so I was excited for some great food. Got there and grabbed my food. Seemed more than I thought but went home. When I got home I saw they charged me %20 large party fee. I was really put off but o was ready for some great food. I only ordered 2 things. $60. An appetizer of teriyaki chicken skewers. They were not marinated or anything, not cooked in sauce, nothing. It was reg, plain tasting chicken. They added a side of teriyaki sauce but I was very thin and lacked flavor and didn't add to the dish at all. Bummed. Then I got the shrimp pad Thai. The noodles were so over cooked they just disintegrated. There was no heat option so it was bland and no spice whatsoever. So with all that I was even more annoyed I paid $10 mandated tip for crap food. Never again. Stay away unless you dine in and can get waited on for a tip and they can fix their errors. Nice enough employees. Their "char-grilled" steaks are NOT char grilled, though. The're only grilled. When I asked the manager about it, saying I thought it was CHAR grilled, he said "that's how we do it here." Okay, but don't advertise your steak as "CHAR grilled then. Finally got a chance to dine at Bambu with friends. The place is classy. Likely one of best restaurant decors in Southern Oregon. The servers were prompt and attentive but not intrusive. The food was very good, varied a bit from authentic Thai but was delicious. I had the Thai Style fried rice with prawns. They were very generous with the prawns which were sizable. Yummy. My wife had barbecue beef and she was very pleased. The coconut soup was exceptional. Entree size was impressive. We both took half home. This place is a bit spendy but worth the quality and service. I mostly get takeout--because let's be real, I never know what I'm craving until it hits me. That said, if you're planning to dine in, even though they accept walk-ins consider making a reservation. This little spot fills up fast, and for good reason! Is it authentic? Not even close. But is it delicious? Absolutely. Think fresh ingredients and a modern twist on Asian-inspired dishes that somehow always hit the spot. The flavor combos are bold, creative, and comforting. The food here is very very over priced, and to be honest don't think it's ok to do a pick up, it's not! I think the restaurants only draw cats is location and atmosphere.. The food is not anything I would recommend.. It's a solid choice for a group outting. The menu is all over the place and I think that "Asian fusion" is an accurate description. Even with an advanced reservation, service was very slow. Indoor seating was cozy, but a little louder than comfortable for a small group outting. The outdoor seating looked like a better choice for a warm summer night. The vegetable spring rolls were tasty and cut in 3 pieces each so they are very much a shareable appetizer. The cream cheese roll was tasty and definitely a group favorite. The presentation is impressive and the dipping sauces are on point. The food took a long while.... Other people liked their dinner entrees or maybe they were just really hungry. I had the stir fried green beans (add chicken) for $19.95. My food came after every else's so I expected it to be fresh. I almost sent it back .. I'm pretty sure that they gave me 1/2 over cooked, sitting under a heat lamp batch of green beans and a handful of freshly stir fried green beans and just layered them on top of each other (old ones on top -soggy and anemic). The "spicy peanut sauce" was fine, but not special. Pretty much jarred Thai red curry paste + coconut milk + cornstarch. I like the idea, but the end result was lackluster. ***Positives*** Clean restaurant, nice and air-conditioned; and friendly, clean-cut staff/servers. I love this restaurant's apparent commitment to sustainability and the reduction of plastics! The chopsticks are metal and they don't give plastic straws (at least not that I could tell). The interior design of this restaurant is serene and pleasant to gaze upon. Prices are reasonable (at least as of July 2024). The Spring Rolls are cooked to perfection -- the perfect layer of crisp; not too much, not too little. ***Negatives*** The Chicken Pad Thai tasted bland and bitter and no, I am not sick. I've had great Pad Thai in Thailand, and I've also had great Pad Thai in Canada/US. This was not even *good* Pad Thai by either metric. The plates need to be bigger in proportion to the sizes of the food on them. There's not a lot of room to move one's utensils around. I also think that the menu could be a bit bigger and a bit more diverse. Pad See-Ew, for example, would be nice to see. ***Summary*** This place truly has the potential to be great! read more

The food was good and the service was superb! The menu has a great Asian fusion in it. It took a while for our food to be served but it was worth the wait. The Korean beef was cooked to perfection and served with greens and thinly sliced chips (divine!). The dim sum plate was okay, there was one gyoza that was a bit too hard but overall, it satisfied my dim sum craving. Wished there was more shumai on the plate though. The pan-fried noodles with tofu was delicious. We tried both Thai and Vietnamese coffee which was good. The place was cozy. We didn't have room for dessert though, so perhaps on our next visit. Our dinner was very good. We really enjoyed watching the chefs work on all the orders. They are awesome. The ambiance was nice. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our meal. Our server however was extremely slow compared to the others who hustled to get things out. Not sure what was wrong with that being that everyone else was quick. I love Pad Thai. I've had it all over the world including in Thailand. The best Pad Thai I've ever eaten is here in Medford. Go figure.

We decided to try this place because it came highly recommended by many. I am sorry to say I was disappointed given all of the accolades. We ordered the dim sum plate, basil-crusted salmon, and Indonesian fried noodles. The shumai and potstickers lacked flavor. Cha chu pork bao was really good. The basil-crusted salmon was good and had a tasty coconut curry sauce. The Indonesian fried noodles were very disappointing. The flavor was off. We sat outside on the patio, which has heaters and keeps you warm but some patrons brought their blankets. Waitress was kind, accommodating, and attentive. I have noticed one thing about the chicken dishes that kind of stumps me, the chicken is tough. I usually order chicken, so I've had it many times, and I just know it's going to be extra chewy. The chicken I cook at home isn't this way, so I don't quite understand with the expert level of cooking that is being done how there is consistently this way. I really loved our dinner here. I ordered Pan Fried Noodles with Tofu and it was excellent! It was a "Big Plate" but I was not expecting so much. I could have easily shared with another person. The others in my party had coconut prawns and teriyaki chicken and they liked theirs as well. We sat on the patio and it was nice and breezy and relaxing. I've been excited to try Bambu for a long time. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and very clean. Definitely going for an upscale look! I love that when you walk through the restaurant you can watch the chefs cooking! My friends and I ate on the patio which was beautifully decorated. The staff was very helpful with the menu since it was all of our first times here. I got the triple lunch combo so I could try as much as possible. I ordered the Cumin Wontons, Sesame Noodle Salad and Pad Thai. I'm not yet very familiar with Thai food and meant to order the Chicken Sate instead of the Pad Thai. But I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed the Pad Thai and since I really wanted to try the Chicken Sate, I ordered one a la carte. Again, so glad I did because it was hands down my favorite!!!! Next time I go I will be ordering the Pad Thai and Chicken Sate since they were both so very good! One friend ordered the Chicken Katsu which looked delicious, My other friend ordered the Garlic Chicken and Egg Rolls. The staff was very attentive throughout our meal. This has been a "go-to" eatery for my wife & I for years. The food, service & ambiance is consistently very good. However, I personally think that it is time that they do a major menu change. I appreciate the fact that many of the customers frequent the restaurant because of the predictability of the menu items. But it really is time for a change. There are too many other recipes for fusion Asian food to explore. read more
