I saw Bambu promoted on the local PBS program, "All Across Oregon," and knew I wanted to try this restaurant. We were not disappointed. We began with Thai Coconut Soup and Crispy Calamari. The Calamari arrived just moments from the fryer. The meat inside was tender and juicy. My wife enjoyed her soup... but not as much as I enjoyed my calamari! My wife ordered Thai Style Fried Rice with Prawns, and I ordered Curry Basil Salmon. I don't order salmon often, but this was the most tender, thick salmon I think I've ever had. The curry sauce had a nice kick that didn't over-power the fish and the provided bowl of rice scoops allowed me to collect all that sauce on my fork We arrived for a 5:30 reservation. It was nice, I think, to see this restaurant probably 75% full that early, given that their dinner service begins at 5PM. To some the pace of service might have seemed a bit pokey. In hindsight, however, we were allowed to talk over our beverages and we were never made to feel like we needed to turn the table over. We have "discovered" another restaurant to share with our family and visiting guests. My thanks to the staff for a great meal and their great service. read more

What a great Date night my husband and I had at Bambu. I have been here a few times and knew I loved it but it's been awhile and my husband has never been here. The Atmosphere was so relaxed and The staff was Great. Then you have the food. Yummmy !!! Thank you to the cooks you did an amazing job! All our food came out fast and all good timing For the appetizer we had the tiger rolls and fried calamari. Entrée my husband had a steak dish and I had a curry dish mine was red shrimp curry and it was so full of flavor over great food We Tried two desserts the cream Burle and Lava beignets with macadamia nut ice cream I believe. So I went out to eat here a few weekends ago. Was not extremely impressed by the food, especially for the high prices. The service was fine, my pad Thai was definitely a interesting variation of what I hoped. I'll leave it at that. As someone who's visited Thailand, let's just say it left me yearning for the real thing. On the plus side, The wine list featured many local options. The two bottles we tried were quite good. But more importantly one of our friends we were dining with shared quite a story about Bambu and the management they had heard from multiple people. After hearing it myself, I won't be back. It involved some extremely concerning things that happened to a female employee there over a long period of time... all I can say is if true, while the ownership which seem to present a certain face to the public actually have some very troubling actions going on behind the scenes. It sounds as if they did not protect their employee, even ignored significant happenings and assaults that an employee reported. Specifically the female owner Monica was said to have looked the other way completely, even siding with the other party. These things are important, and word does get around. There's several better options in town for this type of cuisine. And call me old fashioned but I like to support good people and their businesses. Not sure this is the case at Bambu. read more

The tiger rolls here are so yummy! I get them every time I'm in Medford. They take a lot of care with their food here and if you sit up to the granite countertop, you can watch the chefs in action. It's a cozy little place with indoor and outdoor seating. I love how they prepare the salmon. A few weeks ago, I had the curry basil salmon, which is a filet over sautéed vegetables and curry basil sauce. Last week I had the seafood curry, which blew my mind! It had a little kick to it, but was so flavorful and full of all kinds of fish and shellfish... So much that I could only finish half. It was a surprise in every bite:-) this is one of my favorite places to eat when I visit Medford and I would recommend it. read more

Decided to write a review on this restaurant. In addition to food & service, one of the most important things for a restaurant is reservations. Here is my complaint. I've made reservations twice now for this restaurant for very special occasions. Booked both times on a Saturday night. One for a birthday, the other an anniversary. Both times the reservation was confirmed. Both times they messed up saying "sorry we do not see your reservation" When you have a whole evening planned for a very special occasion, and they mess up, I consider this unacceptable. One time...maybe. But twice, absolutely not! On the second time, I spoke to a girl who answered the phone. She was extremely sorry and tried her best to alleviate my anger about this. Yes I was angry, but told this girl it was not her fault and apologized if I sounded agitated. She was really excellent and quite sweet in trying to help me, but best she could do was offer sitting at the counter at a much later time which would not work. She said the owner or manager would call me to see if there was anything they could do to make this up to me. I never was contacted! I never ate here so cannot comment on food or service. But I will never try again. This establishment has ZERO CLASS and I would never recommend to anyone especially if they plan for a special evening. I own a retail business and if ever messed up, always did what I had to do to make the customer happy. Obviously the owner cares little for this. Big thumbs down! read more

Finding a good, consistent pan-asian restaurant in this area can be a challenge. But, Bambu rises to that challenge. Choosing from the menu is difficult as there are many delicious options. I like the Korean Beef option, where they do a great job not just with the beef, but the bok choy as well. I find that it's sometimes also hard to get decent seafood around here, but Bambu covers the bases well in that regard. A lot of good prawn and fish options were available. The curry salmon entree was well presented as well. No real complaints, but it wasn't quite the level of amazing. I think the menu indicated that it might be crisped up a bit, and it wasn't. Still great, but not yet over-the-top good. I'm confident we'll be back again for another round with Bambu, and perhaps we'll come with an empty stomach to try more appetizers! read more

It was fine but honestly not worth the price tag. I think they charge that much because of the monopoly on asian fusion here. The spring rolls were quite good, the indonesian fried noodles were a PASS, and the dim sum plate was good too. Service was pretty good, nothing to write home about, I saw another server or two doing better than ours. Indoor seating was nice, kind of too squished together in my opinion. Would've liked outside more. I could hear everyone else's conversations clearer than my own. This was probably a one time visit for me lol read more

We made a reservation, based on the website's recommendation. This restaurant is seating only outside, in cute tables surrounded by fire pits and heat lamps. It's quite comfortable. We ordered the Tiger rolls as an appetizer-crispy won ton cover cream cheese! Super good. For dinner, we got 2 of their specials: 1) bbq lamb chops over sautéed vegetables and 2) a salmon and shrimp duet in a shiitake mushroom broth with fresh asparagus. Both were so so delicious! We thought that dinner was so great that we had to try dessert. We opted for the flourless chocolate torte and the ginger creme brûlée. The torte was amazing. The creme brûlée was good, but interesting. I had never had ginger in this before and it was good, but different. Get it if you're feeling experimental. All in all, very good. I'll be back to try more, as their menu is seasonal and changes often. read more

Well, I've eaten here three times and every time was a 'meh' experience for me. This was my last chance. I've noticed a trend in Medford to put unusual or exotic-sounding items on the menu that are not so exotic but are used to lure the naive to eat. These ingredients are often misused leading people to think they don't like something that was simply not meant to be used that way. Perhaps this is because I've cooked various types of cuisines professionally, but I'm always disappointed to go knowing I could do better myself. read more

First time there we made reservations and I see why place is small. We tried the KOREAN BBQ BEEF, and TIGER CRIES. Steak was very tender and flavorful. For dessert we tried the coconut key lime pie I'm a fan of both flavors, but the pie wasn't that great the texture is a bit grainy, and you don't get any coconut flavor, so I'd say pass on the pie. read more

I was feeling rather punky & browsed theIr menu online- not wanting to pay extra charges for delivery, I decided to pick up takeout. Boy, was THAT a stupid idea! I got the lemongrass soup- explain to me why I need to pay extra for tofu? It's cheaper than chicken by a longshot, yet it was $5 more & I felt I was pressured into the sale. Now, I can't blame them for adding tomato when I forgot to mention my allergy to the vegetable, but a warning about the kaffir leaf still being in the dish would've been nice. I also got the "dim sum plate"... lemme tell you, as an Asian, that is NOT dim sum! 1 pork bun the size of a stress-ball, 3 shu mai (about the size of a walnut) & 3 chicken 'dumplings' (extremely chewy potstickers, at best) felt like they were microwaved just before I came in to pick my order up- which were cold by the time I got home (not 2 blocks away)! Definitely NOT worth the $12.00 it's advertised for! And the "chicken curry wontons"... WHERE'S THE CURRY?!? It was ground chicken in tough, friend wonton skins that, for some reason, were sweet?! Do these people even TASTE their food before making it? And the 'dipping sauces'- if you wanna call sweet chili sauce, soy sauce & chili paste that- were the SAME as all the other containers! I didn't feel I got much value for the money. It was explained that the 5% to-go fee was to provide "high quality to-go containers which our customers prefer" or something like that. My vegetable dinner plate was expensive, skimpy and bland. For $16 I expected a large portion, or at least some 'fancy' vegetables like mushrooms or asparagus, but it was totally run of the mill. The restaurant had saved on table service, bussing and dishwashing, and had not provided me ambience, nor 30-40 minutes of attentive service. They also did not have to clean linens, or carpets, or restrooms on account of my order. So why was I being charged extra beyond what was paid by those who dined in and had all those amenities? My friend and I had tried to come a month ago but they were closed. Today we went back, excited for some highly anticipated food. The description of food sounded amazing! Tofu and pan fried veggies and udon noodles, but in reality what we got was half burnt spaghetti noodles. Large chunks of poorly fried unseasoned tofu and the blandest peanut sauce I've ever tasted and vegetable steamed into oblivion. The worst meal I can recall.
