Sushi & Bento is such a place: in a strip mall with that mirrored stuff all over the windows, which always puts me a bit off as I can't see inside before opening the door. However, inside is clean, comfortable and friendly. I ordered a lunch Teriyaki Veggie and Tofu Bento, which the very friendly woman helping me made vegan by substituting the gyoza for 3 fried rolls and the California roll for a veggie roll for a modest price increase. I was honestly very pleasantly surprised. The meal was generous, freshly made with quality ingredients and delicious! Nice little restaurant in a strip mall. I've driven by at least 100 times and never noticed it. My husband isn't a sushi fan so we both got Bento boxes. Located in the left back corner of a small plaza, Sushi & Bento is a clean & well-maintained shop. The family running the restaurant is friendly. Food is prepared on order, so you know it's freshly made. Prices are a bit steep-- which I found surprising since you'd expect food in Oregon to be less expensive than California's pricey Silicon Valley or LA. In terms of food, I can only speak for the beef bento (~$13). You get an array of small samplers including miso soup, potstickers, California roll sushi, salad, rice, and stir-fried beef. PROS: The beef is the highlight. They use a sweet & tangy sauce that pairs fantastically with the meat & onions. If I could get a bowl of just this, I would. The rice is perfectly cooked & puffy with a nice chew. The mixed salad is a crisp and refreshing. CONS: The potstickers have a strange minced filling that tastes grainy and mass-produced. I understand it can be difficult to have freshly-made dumplings on hand, but I would recommend to the shop to change whatever potsticker brand it currently uses. The imitation crab in the sushi consists of finely shredded & mushy threads-- which makes me question its quality :( Never have I ever seen imitation crab made like that... and I've had a lot of sushi throughout my life. Miso soup also lacks contents (no tofu or seaweed). Overall, I didn't find my bento to be worth the price paid. Other Yelpers seem to really enjoy the sushi here though, so perhaps that would be a better option than the bentos. read more

The $15.95 dinner meal. Went in at 1:45 for lunch asked for Korean ribs I feel I got taken. Lunch price was $13.95. If this is dinner I hate to see the lunch size it must be two strips or ribs,half scoop of rice and less than a cup of salad. I also asked for nigiri 4. Flying fish row (tobiko) got octopus 7. Even though I pointed to it on menu. The people are super friendly but I will never go back since the was the second time I tried there food and both times weird stuff like this happened. I enjoyed my dinner teriyaki salmon Bento dish, the tea was good, miso soup was lovely as well. However, for this rather higher priced bento item the piece of salmon was not large at all, and was only seasoned with the sprinkle of sauce you see on the photo, from the taste of it. If there were less greens or even if they skipped the California roll but added a good value size piece of salmon, I'd order this again. read more

The salad was slightly warm but was paired with a traditional Japanese dressing. The bento box itself contained California rolls, pot stickers with sauce, white rice and spicy pork. All of which was bland, but still tasty. The spicy pork has a kick. The California rolls came with a bit of wasabi For $12, this meal is banging for a cowboys bucking. Last night I popped in to get a roll and was immediately greeted by delicious smells and friendly smiles from this small family business. The menu has a good variety and prices are reasonable. I don't understand the positive reviews here. I am not a fan all and actually genuinely very upset. Guess I just threw $100 down the drain. For starters my daughter is a little picky so I ordered her yakisoba noodles and requested that there was only bean sprouts on it and it says on the app if there wasn't any available requests I would receive a call. No call and they smothered the yakisoba in mayonnaise which is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. And all the rolls are ordered just taste like mush. The scallops don't taste right at all. The seaweed salad also tasted like theres was mold in it. If I could give this place 0/5 I would. Don't eat here or maybe don't order to go because they give you the bad food. read more

I was nervous because they are in Phoenix and i'm in Medford but went for it and DAMN ITS GOOD. This is the first time I tried this place. I'm always happy to see another sushi place open. I stopped in for lunch. Tried the lunch special beef bowl. The flavor was pretty good. A little on the sweet too side. The beef was very tough. It really gave my jaw a workout. $2.00 for a tiny bottle of ice tea was a little steep. The place is clean and bright. Came here by chance on my birthday because everything else was closed by the time we got to searching. We couldn't believe what a tremendous find this place was. They welcomed us in even though it was almost closing time and the staff was cheerful, kind and went above and beyond. Best of all the sushi was delicious! This place went downhill right after COVID shut them down. When they reopened, everything was different. The menu is not the same. Sushi photos, that were once hanging up on their walls, are gone and so is the delicious sushi that was depicted. We started off with an order of cold Sake: our server had no idea what it was but we pointed it out to him. Then came our shrimp tempura; it was panko covered, frozen shrimp you can purchase at any grocery store. Worst part was that it wasn't even completely fried. It was cold in spots. Our sushi rolls were cold, (pre-rolled?) with all the fried parts (soft shell crab and such) badly over fried and over breaded. WTH. The rolls were sloppy; the rice looked and felt different. I stopped eating and just put the lid on my same and asked for the check. I think that they're under new ownership and one of the sushi chefs left because the fish on one of our rolls was badly cut, not cut the way a sushi chef would do. What a disappointment. It was so expensive for low quality ingredients and sub par presentation. Thumbs down. read more

We ordered the Dragon Roll, the Yummy Roll, Tuna, Salmon and Steamed Pot Stickers. Everything was very high quality and absolutely delicious. This place is right next door to me so I've tried it a few times. The first time I got it my sushi was so covered in sauce it was disgusting I brushed it off thinking it was just that roll the next time I went there I got a different roll but the same thing just covered in gross sauce and the fish just didn't look right. My third and final time there I got a roll with no sauce and I honestly think it's just the grossest sushi I've ever had lmao. The fish wasn't cut right and for some reason there was a hard texture to the fish??? Idk what's wrong with the fish but it doesn't taste or look right. This small restaurant serves the standard sushi and bentos with specials for the nearby high school students. We ordered the chicken bento with salad, miso soup, chicken, gyoza, rice and California roll. The salad lettuce with two cherry tomatoes and slivers of carrot was better than average. The soup was thin and what yo'd expect from a cheap miso soup packet. A thin, not so-so-sweet teriyaki sauce was poured over the tender chicken and in a cup for the gyoza, that latter was okay. I've been a customer since you opened but the last 2 times I've been there it's gone down hill..the waitresses really dont have their act together. The rolls are gorgeous, fresh, reasonably priced and the owners are very friendly and gracious. Chef/owner Brian Kim was a sushi chef in LA and Seattle before setting here in the valley with his wife, and his food is fresh and creative. Highly recommend! BEST firecracker I have ever eaten.
