Crunch Roll $6.95 (much smaller than I recall)
Madison M.

A SOLID 3-stars. Food is still good. Service is a-ok. Portions got a little smaller and prices have gotten a little higher after the cosmetic remodel. STILL a family owned business, still serving quality Americanized Japanese food. Still a fan, but no longer my go to for sashimi. The bento box is STILL a good option for picky eaters of all ages *smiles* For reference: 8 slivers of vegetables deep fried in tempura batter for ~$1/slice. Toroko in Ashland provides an overfilled basket of tempura veggies w/ dipping sauce (12-15 pieces) for $6. Downtown Ashland prices and slightly smaller portions, but located in a strip mall in Phoenix several miles away *great freeway access off of HWY 5, EXIT 24* Take-out still seems to be their primary clientele *not a bad thing*

Located in the left back corner of a small plaza, Sushi & Bento is a clean & well-maintained shop. The family running the restaurant is friendly. Food is prepared on order, so you know it's freshly made. Prices are a bit steep-- which I found surprising since you'd expect food in Oregon to be less expensive than California's pricey Silicon Valley or LA. In terms of food, I can only speak for the beef bento (~$13). You get an array of small samplers including miso soup, potstickers, California roll sushi, salad, rice, and stir-fried beef. PROS: The beef is the highlight. They use a sweet & tangy sauce that pairs fantastically with the meat & onions. If I could get a bowl of just this, I would. The rice is perfectly cooked & puffy with a nice chew. The mixed salad is a crisp and refreshing. CONS: The potstickers have a strange minced filling that tastes grainy and mass-produced. I understand it can be difficult to have freshly-made dumplings on hand, but I would recommend to the shop to change whatever potsticker brand it currently uses. The imitation crab in the sushi consists of finely shredded & mushy threads-- which makes me question its quality :( Never have I ever seen imitation crab made like that... and I've had a lot of sushi throughout my life. Miso soup also lacks contents (no tofu or seaweed). Overall, I didn't find my bento to be worth the price paid. Other Yelpers seem to really enjoy the sushi here though, so perhaps that would be a better option than the bentos.

$15.95 Korean short ribs
Brian B.

The $15.95 dinner meal. Went in at 1:45 for lunch asked for Korean ribs I feel I got taken. Lunch price was $13.95. If this is dinner I hate to see the lunch size it must be two strips or ribs, half scoop of rice and less than a cup of salad. I also asked for nigiri 4. Flying fish row (tobiko) got octopus 7. Even though I pointed to it on menu. The people are super friendly but I will never go back since the was the second time I tried there food and both times weird stuff like this happened. Food was good but not for the price.

I enjoyed my dinner teriyaki salmon Bento dish, the tea was good, miso soup was lovely as well. However, for this rather higher priced bento item the piece of salmon was not large at all, and was only seasoned with the sprinkle of sauce you see on the photo, from the taste of it. If there were less greens or even if they skipped the California roll but added a good value size piece of salmon, I'd order this again.

good for the price' miso was flavorful, flavor punch. Good. The one problem, it was hardly any. I ate it in three spoonfuls. The salad was slightly warm but was paired with a traditional Japanese dressing. The bento box itself contained California rolls, pot stickers with sauce, white rice and spicy pork. All of which was bland, but still tasty. The spicy pork has a kick. The California rolls came with a bit of wasabi For $12, this meal is banging for a cowboys bucking. Update: just ordered from them again and received a pathetic amount of soup and salad without any dressing. Very disappointed. Removing a star.

Lunch special beef bowl.

I've worked my way through nearly the entire menu, and there hasn't been a single dish I regretted ordering. My personal favorites are the lettuce cups, Pad Prik, Pad Prik Pao, and the tomato noodle dish (truly phenomenal). If you're in the mood for soup, the rib meat with lemongrass is absolutely unforgettable deeply flavorful and comforting. I highly recommend adding a side of rice or noodles to round it out. What truly sets this restaurant apart, beyond the outstanding food, is the staff. The team is warm, attentive, and genuinely elevates the entire dining experience. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the quality and presentation remain consistent from the first order of the day to the last. The space itself is charming and inviting, with lovely outdoor seating for sunny days and cozy indoor seating when the weather turns. It's clear that care and authenticity go into every detail. If you're in the Rogue Valley and haven't visited yet, you're missing out. This place delivers a 10/10 experience every single time.

The place was practically empty- white everything with black diner seats & red/floral decorations on the walls. Long, narrow passage- greeted with delayed warmth from a boisterous lady. She recommended "more bang for your buck" combinations, so I'll hafta try the ala carte entrees later. I got the crab puffs (8 for $10.25)- they were fun! Triangles vs those 'purses'. Classic krab & cream cheese, but also has diced onion! A note of freshness & packed to the gills! And the egg flower soup ('small' bowl for $6)- simple, pretty straightforward... not enough salt, so shoyu helped. Some corn, pretty sure that's why it was so thick. The #15 ($15.50) came with pork fried rice, mar far chicken & moo goo gai pan... they did not come to play! The fried rice was a little overpowered by green onion, but that's where their pink sauce really came in handy- talk about balance! Their mar far wasn't little nuggets- they were like a breast, battered & fried, THEN cut into strips! So filling! And the moo goo gai pan was refreshing- big slices of carrot, onion, cabbage, mushrooms & broccoli with slices of chicken. Heartwarming, really. With hot tea (one pot for $1?!) & a fortune cookie, came to $32.75. With tip, overall total sat at just under $40. I'm glad I stopped in- this really was a phoenix rising from the proverbial ashes; Phoenix needs a win after Alameda & this place is helping keep them strong. Highly recommend

Mar Far Chicken contains NO VEGETABLES. It is deep fried chicken breast (least flavorful of the proteins) cut into sections. I appreciated that they served the "pink sauce" in a separate container so that it didn't get soggy on the road. Pork fried rice is a hearty portion, not greasy, fairly neutral flavor. They no longer sell won ton soup. That's too bad because I read that theirs was really tasty. ALL of their prices have gone up in the last 4 months; I added updated menu photos.

Overall: Delicious flavors, but all of the proteins were extremely dry/overcooked. I can tell that if you ordered earlier in the day that this would not be an issue. We ordered ~1pm and it was evident that all of the proteins are cooked early and sit and dry out as the hours go on... Yum Nue =$13.00 (a little spicy in a good way) This is a flavor bomb! I love the combination of fresh romaine and vegetables and the bed of sauce soaked rice at the bottom *YUM* I ordered later in the day so I guess she ran out of beef, so mine was both dried out beef and dried out chicken breast. Again, order earlier in the day and I'm sure it would have been better. BBQ Pineapple Teriyaki $12.00 (not at all spicy) Very flavorful and uses fresh pineapple. Only downside was the dried out chicken and some very crunchy burnt chicken ends were not expected and unpleasant. Would have been perfect had we ordered earlier in the day when the proteins were first cooked. I would order again, but much earlier in the day for the sake of the proteins. I understand the need to prep ahead of time, but the dried out proteins are avoidable and should be addressed.

Disappointing lunch order @ Panera Bread in Medford, OR…read more I'm not surprised that once the hype of Panera Bread opening up in this town settled down, they wouldn't be an anticipated lunch destination. They've gone down hill since their glory days from decades past. This was my second visit here and I used the kiosk to place my order, as did others since no employee was present to personally take orders. I tried ordering a 'pick 2' with one of my items being salad. I tried to choose multiple salads and every time it said 'no romaine or iceberg lettuce is available at this time' like seriously?!? So yeah, what I ended up getting was just 'okay'. I didn't like that they added the tortilla strips into the soup container so by the time I was ready to eat it, I had a soggy mush on top of perfectly good soup. Like who does that? Also, the sandwich didn't have its ingredients evenly distributed, so I had to bite into certain spots here and there... No care with the food they serve to patrons. What's on display? Sugar-filled pastries and a gross selection of over-priced drinks. I had to ask for a code just to use the bathroom and the employee I tracked down clearly did not want to be there. This is not a place I would enjoy dining in, and would happily go to Chick-fil-A across the street. I will not be returning.
