PRO Food and service was fantastic. It was a stone's throw from the venue. CON it was very loud in there. There were a couple of larger groups that seemed to think their conversations had to be yelled at each other. I don't know if it was the shape or size of the space, but it was very difficult to hold a conversation. Waiters/management should've asked them to lower their voices. read more

Hubby had a craving for pizza and a salad. Me too! So, we walked down a few blocks from our hotel to the nearest Italian restaurant- Macaroni's and Martinos. We also had to walk up a steep and long flight of stairs to enter the restaurant. It is a cozy place and we were greeted and seated promptly. I spotted a window table for 2. Their menu had what we were looking for: an 11-inch 'Firenzi' pizza and a Ceasar salad. We shared these delicious items and even had extras to take away for a meal the next day. (We have a cooler) Hubby also had a delightful glass of Pinot Noir. At the end, we were surprised by a complimentary dish of spumoni ice cream with a lighted candle in the middle- to celebrate hubby's birthday. We driving by this town and decided to stop and have a dinner. We were able to find seat upstairs. I ordered fettuccine alfredo and my dad seafood linguine. Food was delicious. Service was friendly. You need to find street parking. As we found out later people go to theater around 8 it is hard to find empty seats at restaurants before 8 pm. read more

Being literally next to OSF, it's shocking how affordable they keep their prices. A perfect stop before or after a show for a drink or full meal. We love the Cesar salad and the Pig and Bee pizza (bacon and honey). Bread service is a nice bonus most places have given up on. The staff are always friendly and efficient and the food arrived in good time despite the 6:00pm rush (make reservations if not arriving before this). Sitting outside overlooking the street is always a treat - the inside is a bit worn but serviceable. While not the fanciest looking or the most new/hip Italian spot (there's quite a few downtown), we still think this is the best all-around. We will be back. read more

It was a rainy October Wednesday night and we walked up the stairs about 5:30. It was our third visit and we returned because the experience was good the other two times. We live in California so we are not local. If we were we would eat here more often. We were immediately greeted and seated. We chose a high top looking outside. The ambiance was intimate. They were not busy so that contributed to the intimacy. Our server was the bartender and the drink orders were taken in a timely manner. We ordered Eggplant parmigiana and Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and we split a Caesar Salad. Food was excellent, service was excellent and very friendly. It's a place where you go where everyone knows you name. AND, the food is fresh and super! Lots of bar drinks to choose from, Jazz on Mondays at 7. What's not to enjoy? Ver unpretentious! The Menü is traditional Italian but just fresh and excellent. I ordered the side Caesar which turn out to be a very generous portion of a freshly made tart version of Ceasar. Hail the Caesar! My secondo was a deeeellious pasta recommended by a very friendly bar tender. It was the Mediterranean Pasta. Just an excellent blend of med flavors with a very delicious capelllini . Excellent food, delightful atmosphere, and excellent service. Please give this place a try. It is much better than La Bric which somehow manufactures a lot of positive reviews.. Locals disagree! Martino is much better. Most recently, we sat on the delightful balcony overlooking main street and the green hills beyond. I had the shrimp with goat cheese and pasta special. It was excellent. I do have to agree with other reviewers that the bread is stale. But that is easy to overlook given the high-quality of the meals and salads. The drinks were excellent. I had a very generous week prepared martini and my husband had an excellent Manhattan. The wine is well priced as are the dishes. read more

I cannot even convey how much I love this place. The pizza is the best I've found in southern Oregon, the lasagna is delicious, and try the bruschetta if you can! Views are perfect. My husband and I are locals and have been coming here for years. Unfortunately, the service and quality of this restaurant have gone down. The last two times the food came to our table very late. The last time, it took 1.5 hours for the food to get to our table. Also, most of the salad I ordered was inedible as it was wilted. The outside ambience is beautiful. We were freakishly lucky to be able to walk in and get a table on Valentine's Day last week... or were we? While we patiently waited for our server, who consistently ignored us, TWO turns came and went around us. We finally received our food (a salad and lasagna) during the THIRD turn of tables. This equates to waiting about an hour and 10 minutes while the average seems to have been about 30 minutes. This place is not what it used to be. Don't do it, too many other great choices! read more

This is a nice little find and the city of Ashland Oregon. I came in one evening a little later than normal, many of the restaurants in this town do not stay open late but this one I think stays open till 11:00. Took a seat at the bar, the barman was very nice and friendly and the food was delicious. Delicious! Went with the salad and then the carbonara. Dinner with a view on Martino's small patio overlooking Main Street. While Macaroni's (downstairs restaurant) seemed filled with patrons, Martino's (upstairs lounge with separate entrance) was not particularly busy on the Sunday evening we visited. The two establishments share a menu, so take your pick in terms of ambiance and seating availability. Service at Martino's was leisurely and fine. Cocktail menu was intriguing. The Treuse (house gin, Aperol, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, splash of green chartreuse) was a little on the sweet side for me but perfect for the warm evening. The Affinity (house scotch, sweet vermouth, orange bitters, lemon twist) was sophisticated and a lovely post-dinner drink. The capellini d'Mediterranean was alright. I think I was more in the mood for my partner's eggplant parm and fettucine alfredo. It wasn't mind blowing, but it was good. I'd come again for a hearty pasta meal and drinks. read more

First off: Amy was taking care of a full house as server (and occasionally busser), and she did an AMAZING job. Her service was unmatched, and watching her work so efficiently really helped make our dinner worthwhile. The food was okay. The caesar salad came quickly, was a good sized portion, and had great flavor. The carbonara was good, and the angel hair pasta with chicken was very bland. I walked by here earlier in the day and felt sorry for them. It was empty. I wondered why it wasn't busy, or as busy as the restaurant downstairs. But I needn't worry. I went after a show with my sister and many of her friends and that place was jumping! The drinks were popping, the staff was great. This place, which I thought was a divey, sad sack of a bar, had it going on. And it was quite easy to navigate. People were going from table to table and moving amongst friends as they drank and socialized and I felt blessed to be part of the activity. There were a couple of birthdays and someone brought a cake, and we all sang a birthday song. I was offered a piece, even though I didn't know any of them. It's amazing how the bartenders were able to keep track of our orders. And we ordered a lot. The drinks were good too! Going there was the perfect ending to a day full of theater. I give Martino's 3 stars instead of 4 because, given the price point of their menu, they should have fresh Parmesan cheese...the kind that needs to be refrigerated. Absolutely lovely afternoon on Martino's back deck. Staff was very attentive and I LOVE their Italian sodas, with both creme and whipped cream in a wonderful tall glass. The pizza was pretty good, nice crisp crust. One thing that was super annoying were the non-stop flies outside. Not sure what was attracting them, but there was an odor of general "restaurant grime" both on the patio and also inside the restaurant - including the bathroom. I think the restaurant needs a good scrub (floors/walls) both inside and out. read more

The food is always good but for some reason when you order on line it goes through DoorDash to pay for your meal. This means your credit info goes to the Philippines. No way to call who processed the order except to go through a lengthy robot chain. It goes to the Philippines. We were seated on the balcony as the place was quite busy. No big deal... but after a drink and an appetizer we waited for over an hour and our food never came. The table next to us left after waiting even longer. We never even saw our waitress again until we went in and asked to cancel the rest of our bill. It's one thing for the food to take a while, but we sat with empty drinks the entire time. She then whispered to the host "I don't care about their tip" and handed us the bill. Back in February if 2018 for Valentine's Day, my boyfriend surprised me with a road trip to Ashland, OR. He asked what I wanted to eat & it was just natural for me to say 'Italian'. We were taking a stroll as night fell and fell upon this lounge. The waitress (very sweet lady) sat us at a booth that gave us a panoramic view of the place. This place was old fashioned. But it's something I can definitely appreciate. It was a little too dim inside for my liking which made me a little unsure on the place. I ordered the Oregon Smoked Salmon Ravioli and my bf ordered the Lasagna. The Oregon Smoked Salmon Ravioli is worth EVERY PENNY. I had my boyfriends lasagna, don't get me wrong, it was delicious as well but the RAVIOLI (oh mah lawd!!!) it was amazing. I urge everyone to stop by here and try it. It will not disappoint. We were really excited about trying Martino's. We drove up from California to visit SOU and see a play at the Shakespeare Festival. I tried to book a reservation at Martino's at a time 2 hours prior to showtime, figuring that would be more than enough time to eat dinner (they are conveniently located right next to the Festival). But the restaurant has you leave a voicemail message (they don't pick up the phone), and they never confirmed. I left a second message the day of our reservation and though we didn't get a confirmation, we went at the time of our requested reservation. They did not have us on the books, but sat us on the lovely patio pretty quickly anyway, which was great and much appreciated. Unfortunately, they appeared to be very understaffed, and our order wasn't taken for at least 15 minutes (we ordered food and drinks at that time, to expedite things). Our drinks didn't come until about 20 minutes after that. We ordered a garlic toast appetizer, 2 pasta dishes, and a pizza. The garlic toast came about 20 minutes after the drinks, and it was delicious, but now we were about an hour from showtime, so I started getting nervous. We asked about our food and were told it would be coming shortly. After waiting another 40 minutes (i.e., 20 minutes before showtime), we told the server that we had to leave. We asked her to please close out our bill, we would pay for the drinks and garlic toast, but not the entrees. We had to go inside to facilitate getting the bill, and it reflected everything including the entrees. I insisted that the entrees be removed, we paid our bill and left. At no time did anyone apologize to us for the incredibly slow service. At no time did a manager come and check on us or apologize. We saw other diners having to go inside to get their bill, ask about their order, etc. I'm pretty sure the food would have been delicious, but we'll never know because we only got toast (yummy toast!) and will probably never return unless we have plenty of time to spare. All and all, it was very disappointing. Perhaps this was an anomaly? Regardless, we ended up having to quickly eat snacks at the Shakespeare Festival to stave off our hunger. read more

What a great little place to go on a Monday night. They have live music every Monday and the night I was there they had a jazz trio. A perfect way to get a quick bite to eat while passing through Ashland. The upstairs is a bar and the downstairs is a sitdown restaurant. Both have the same menus. The Caesar salad was delicious and the Chicken Parmesan tasted perfect. If you're looking for a very tasty Italian meal in Ashland, this is your place. read more
