We driving by this town and decided to stop and have a dinner. We were able to find seat upstairs. I ordered fettuccine alfredo and my dad seafood linguine. Food was delicious. Service was friendly. You need to find street parking. As we found out later people go to theater around 8 it is hard to find empty seats at restaurants before 8 pm.

Why would ANYONE gives this place anything less than 4 Stars. I sat upstairs in the bar on a Monday night. This place couldn't be cozier, happier and friendlier. It's a place where you go where everyone knows you name. AND, the food is fresh and super! Lots of bar drinks to choose from, Jazz on Mondays at 7. What's not to enjoy? Ver unpretentious! The Menü is traditional Italian but just fresh and excellent. I ordered the side Caesar which turn out to be a very generous portion of a freshly made tart version of Ceasar. Hail the Caesar! My secondo was a deeeellious pasta recommended by a very friendly bar tender. It was the Mediterranean Pasta. Just an excellent blend of med flavors with a very delicious capelllini . I highly recommend you come here. Very intimate and low key. You can always count on service and food and warm vibe. I couldn't stay for the dessert but heard guest raving about the terrimusu

Generous drinks. Unfortunately, bread is stale and comes with silly little pats of foil wrapped butter.

Excellent food, delightful atmosphere, and excellent service. Please give this place a try. It is much better than La Bric which somehow manufactures a lot of positive reviews.. Locals disagree! Martino is much better. Most recently, we sat on the delightful balcony overlooking main street and the green hills beyond. I had the shrimp with goat cheese and pasta special. It was excellent. I do have to agree with other reviewers that the bread is stale. But that is easy to overlook given the high-quality of the meals and salads. The drinks were excellent. I had a very generous week prepared martini and my husband had an excellent Manhattan. The wine is well priced as are the dishes.

    Lasagna, as good as mom's!

I cannot even convey how much I love this place. The pizza is the best I've found in southern Oregon, the lasagna is delicious, and try the bruschetta if you can! Views are perfect. Plus it's right next to all of the theaters. Great place to go before Shakespeare festival or the cabaret. Call ahead and make a reservation because they are often full!

Forgot the name but it was today special

The food is solid and the service is friendly. The Caesar salad was premade and not fresh. A comfortable place to go after or before a show

The restaurant is very empty with plenty of available seats, yet they don't accept walk-in customers, discriminating against minorities.

Bar Juillet: Where Perfect Cocktails Meet Perfect Fried Chicken…read more Bar Juillet has quickly become one of our absolute favorite go-to spots in Ashland and Southern Oregon. It all starts with the best fried chicken you'll find anywhere in the region. Hands down. This restaurant and cocktail bar delivers on every front. The cocktails are crafted with real skill and balance, and their wine list is outstanding a thoughtful mix of local favorites and world-renowned producers that shows just how seriously they take their program. I've eaten here multiple times, and one thing you can always count on is consistency. The service is warm and attentive, the food is always executed beautifully, and the atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the night. They do get busy on weekends, so reservations are smart, but even if you end up waiting, it's absolutely worth it. And if you can grab a seat at the bar, do it. The bartenders here make it an experience all on its own. Reliable, delicious, and truly one of Ashland's standout spots. Bar Juillet never disappoints.

As a chef at two James Beard-winning restaurants, a server, owner, and consultant, I have dedicated my life to the food industry and the people within it. I'm from Ashland, and I was so happy when places like this started showing up in my hometown. Good food and atmosphere can be so hard to find. Coming home to Ashland can be a true oasis for my family. My wife and I have made it our life's mission to make our daughter feel equal and included. Our daughter was born with a rare condition called AMC and does not have normal function in any of her limbs. She currently spends 3-4 days a week in physical therapy to continue building strength so her body and organs can function properly. We were visiting family at the park and suggested stopping in for a beverage and snacks to escape the heat after a long day. We typically plan everything ahead to ensure wherever we go can accommodate my daughter's wheelchair and needs. When we arrived, we thought, "Wow, perfect, she can wheel right in and up to one of the many open tables." Once we were "greeted" by the host, I realized we were not who she wanted to deal with. Three kids, three adults, a stroller, and a wheelchair. She looked like she wanted nothing to do with us, like we were dirt on her shoe. "No reservation," she said. I replied, "Yeah, so sorry, we figured since it was a Monday night right when you opened, and there were only two two-tops seated, we could probably find somewhere to sit." I reassured her we would not stay long enough to impact reservations at the larger front tables, which usually have reserved markers on them but did not at the time. We could all feel that she didn't want to seat us, and we left despite me practically begging to make something work for us, because I know she could have if she wanted to. Being from the industry, I understand what kids can do to an atmosphere, and I know a lot of restaurant workers don't enjoy dealing with other people's children. But when we went outside and my daughter cried and said, "They didn't want me there" So I loaded my daughter's wheelchair back into the car so I could carry her up the stairs at Brickroom, where one employee was working the entire place and took amazing care of us, I might add. We resorted to a booster seat for my daughter since she couldn't use her wheelchair there. She ended up falling out of the seat and slamming onto the hardwood floor. She cried and was embarrassed. The young man tending bar while also waiting every table rushed over with a bag of ice to comfort her. It was honestly touching how kind he was. When we left Brickroom, we had spent more time there than we originally intended to spend at Bar Juliet. As we walked back by Bar Juliet, we noticed the restaurant was still only about half full, and one of the large front tables had remained open the entire time from around 4:10 until 5:40 when we walked by again. I had to stop and ask the host why she couldn't have seated us considering that table never filled. Her only explanation was, "Our kitchen is slow getting food out." Such an incredibly weak excuse. I hope she understands she was wrong and that she made my daughter feel unwanted simply because accommodating us wasn't convenient for her. I have never left a review in my life, but I was so saddened and disgusted by this experience that I felt I had to.

The service is good, we've been there with our family and with a large group, and they have always been very patient and friendly. Alchemy is in my top 3 favorite places for a dressy dinner when we are visiting Ashland. The only slightly negative thing I have to say is that we were there celebrating a birthday once and at the end of the meal our server brought out a candle on a small, flat ceramic dish. The birthday girl's comment was, "You just spent $300 on dinner and all they brought me for my birthday was a candle?" It seemed a little chintzy since most places will give you an actual dessert, not just a candle, but at least they brought a candle. Other than that tiny little thing, we still love to eat here and will be back when visiting in the future.

The latter changes seasonally--in our case it was a dashi broth with a variety of local mushrooms and vegetables. Both dishes were good, with my steak cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes amazingly creamy without tasting too buttery; the dashi broth was delicious as well. We also split the steak tartare, the house bread, and the chips & dip (seasonal special) as appetizers. With the exception of the chips & dip, the appetizers were good but nothing outstanding. The chips & dip, however, were REALLY GOOD! I did not know you could elevate potato chips like that, but their house-made chips are delicious and I would highly recommend trying them. Both my fiancé and I were not a huge fan of the sauce (just a little too creamy, it's really smooth though so if you like creamy sauces you'll probably enjoy it!), but just eating the plain chips was amazing. They even brought us a second serving of chips for free since we hadn't used all of the dip! We also ordered a pear tart for dessert which I would also recommend getting! Delicious crust and good pear flavor.

I do this to gauge reactions. And here, they were super friendly and accommodating. I took a spot at the end of bar and immediately struck up a conversation with the couple next to me. They had a burger that wasn't on the menu I had been given. Apparently there is a sort of soft opening before they open for dinner with a different menu. That's cool! I had about three hours until a Shakespeare show, so I decided for the full experience: Salad - I spent nearly the entire salad experience trying to decide whether I liked the dressing or the bright citrus of the grapefruit better. What was never in question was how tasty and refreshing it was. Crab and Melin salad. Appetizer - I wasn't sure what to expect with the Beef Carpaccio. Definitely my first time with this dish. But it won't be the last time. I probably ate it wrong, but mixing the arugula and cheese was very tasty. It disappeared quickly. Main - so it wasn't really a main, but the dish came at the recommendation of the bartender. The asparagus in the description was the selling point, but the potato dumplings reminded me of gnocchi. It was almost the perfect round up to a stellar meal. Drinks - My favorite cocktail is a prohibition style drink called a New York Sour. I think I like it because the red wine tones down the sweetness of the sour mix. I asked for one and after I finished it, the bartender asked how it was and admitted she'd never made one before. I said it was okay and we talked about what I'd do different. The second one was perfect. See the pictures for a comparison of the two.

I honestly cannot understand how the ratings can be so high…read more I did not enjoy this experience AT ALL. As an another reviewer opined just six days ago--- it was-- "disgusting." I find it really interesting that there seems to be some sort of public consensus to not rate this place honestly. Do I have to fear the wrath of the owner or the Oregon Hippie Community or something? Well, bring it on. I had been looking forward to visiting Jackson Wellsprings for YEARS, having first read about it in the book Thru Hiking Will Break Your Heart. My cousin and I had reservations this summer, but we ended up canceling most of our trip. Now I know that she did not miss out. I arrived on New Year's Eve, after having called first to make sure tent camping would be allowed. The woman at the front desk who checked me in was very friendly and polite, and could not speak highly enough about the place. After paying $25 to camp in the meadow, I could use the rest of the facilities for an additional $10. Generally speaking, $25 is cheap to camp, especially for someone with less experience on where you can camp for free, or how to get the kinds of massive discounts I usually get. But $25 is a lot to put up a tent on a communal noisy, tobacco filled lawn. I would note that sharing a group site at camp 4 in Yosemite is actually more glamorous for only $10/person. I'm not sure why Jackson Wellsprings feels that sleeping on their lawn is worth so much. The bathroom was so terrible that I did everything I could to avoid using it. There was literally five inches of space between the toilet seat and door, creating an impossible situation for any female who is larger than Twinkie. I literally was not able to shut the door while using the toilet without risking the fact that my pants would wipe the entire underside of the toilet clean of its ample soil. None of the restroom water was filtered in any way. The water that I used to wash my hands stunk like sulfur until I was able to take a shower somewhere else the next day. The spa shower was the same way. The water smelled so bad, it made me really uncomfortable. I felt like I was bathing in sewage. As a nursing school dropout, before dropping out, I got the highest grade in my microbiology class at Sac State. In this class, we learned to identify several pathogens by smell alone. I've also worked in volcanic environments and am familiar with how hot springs normally smell gassy. But this place just smelled bad. Bad bad bad. Like a literal toilet and like bad bacteria. For the public soak rate of $10-15, you get access to ONLY ONE COMMUNAL HOT SPRING which is set up like a hot tub and does not feel "natural" at all. This one pool had a lot of visible dirt and sediment floating in the water. It smelled like human chicken broth. An old rich lady and her autistic grandson were loudly gossiping about how fat everyone else looked. The fancier springs pictured on the internet cost about $85/hour to rent, and even if I had the money and audacity to do this, I would not do so based on the lack of cleanliness in the public facilities. The bathrooms were not clean, and in fact, everything was so dirty and gross that I'm confused by the more positive reviews. I felt itchy, smelly, and stuffed up until I was able to get to the nearest state park for a proper shower in clean water. When I got out of the shower and smelled the clothes that had been on my body, I understood why I'd overheard a Walmart associate gossip to her peers in Spanish (a few hours earlier) that "that white girl stinks." Even after doing laundry, my swimsuit still smells like a literal pile of garbage. This might have actually ruined my swimsuit. I would never do this again and I definitely don't recommend it.
