I booked two nights at Jackson Wellsprings, including camping and pool access, and I would not recommend staying here. The campground felt more like parking along a dirt road than an actual campground. There was frequent vehicle traffic through the area at different times of day and night, so it did not feel quiet or restful. The bathrooms were very poorly maintained, extremely small, and uncomfortable to use. The shower stalls also did not seem properly cleaned or maintained. If you are only camping, I do not think it is worth the price. There also did not seem to be basic camper amenities. I did not find a communal kitchen, and even getting drinking water was inconvenient. The water fountains were difficult to use. Overall, the property felt neglected and under-maintained. The pool and soaking areas were also disappointing. The pools looked grimy, and the "silence" signs were not respected during my stay. Every time I used the hot pool area, people were talking loudly. The dry sauna was fine, but not special enough to justify coming here; it felt similar to a basic gym sauna. The wet sauna was also not worth the trip by itself. I also had concerns about safety and management. On one very hot day, a dog was left tied outside near a tent for a long period while barking, and other campers had to help care for it. I did not see management respond, even though staff appeared to be driving around the property. On the morning I left, another guest behaved aggressively toward me near my van, which made me feel unsafe. The front desk seemed mainly focused on payment and access control, not on guest comfort, cleanliness, or safety. As a non-white guest, I also felt uncomfortable and out of place here, and I did not feel that management was attentive enough to create a safe environment. This place may appeal to some locals or repeat visitors, but based on my experience, it was dirty, poorly maintained, uncomfortable, and not worth the price. If you want to soak in spring water that is artificially heated to suffice for a hot spring, this is the place for you! As much as I have been to deeply healing and naturally geothermic hot springs, I still enjoy a visit to Jackson Wellsprings every month or so. I live remotely and they offer a Tuesday night dance/soak experience that is really quite lovely. Sometimes the DJs are actually bad and I don't do the dance, I'll listen for about 20 mins before paying to enter. Sometimes the DJs are litty. The facilities are clearly 60+ years old and maintained to the absolute bare minimum, or so it appears. It doesn't seem like much deep cleaning/renovation goes on with bleach or other cleaning probably due to some eco friendly initiative to justify saving money and the planet all at once, yet the human experience is degraded. Standards differ in everyone. Sauna is nice. Steam room is nice. Big pool is nice and cool. Hot tub is often filled and relatively hot. Granted for the price of $15/4 hour session... it's now dependent on your fear of humans and the potential for their dirty to impact your experience. I'm a pretty reasonable person and still have desired standards to be met, hence this review and still attending despite a more degraded facility than one would want from a place designed for healing. read more

I honestly cannot understand how the ratings can be so high. I did not enjoy this experience AT ALL. As an another reviewer opined just six days ago--- it was-- "disgusting." I find it really interesting that there seems to be some sort of public consensus to not rate this place honestly. Do I have to fear the wrath of the owner or the Oregon Hippie Community or something? Well, bring it on. I had been looking forward to visiting Jackson Wellsprings for YEARS, having first read about it in the book Thru Hiking Will Break Your Heart. My cousin and I had reservations this summer, but we ended up canceling most of our trip. Now I know that she did not miss out. I arrived on New Year's Eve, after having called first to make sure tent camping would be allowed. The woman at the front desk who checked me in was very friendly and polite, and could not speak highly enough about the place. After paying $25 to camp in the meadow, I could use the rest of the facilities for an additional $10. Generally speaking, $25 is cheap to camp, especially for someone with less experience on where you can camp for free, or how to get the kinds of massive discounts I usually get. But $25 is a lot to put up a tent on a communal noisy, tobacco filled lawn. I would note that sharing a group site at camp 4 in Yosemite is actually more glamorous for only $10/person. I'm not sure why Jackson Wellsprings feels that sleeping on their lawn is worth so much. The bathroom was so terrible that I did everything I could to avoid using it. There was literally five inches of space between the toilet seat and door, creating an impossible situation for any female who is larger than Twinkie. I literally was not able to shut the door while using the toilet without risking the fact that my pants would wipe the entire underside of the toilet clean of its ample soil. None of the restroom water was filtered in any way. The water that I used to wash my hands stunk like sulfur until I was able to take a shower somewhere else the next day. The spa shower was the same way. The water smelled so bad, it made me really uncomfortable. I felt like I was bathing in sewage. As a nursing school dropout, before dropping out, I got the highest grade in my microbiology class at Sac State. In this class, we learned to identify several pathogens by smell alone. I've also worked in volcanic environments and am familiar with how hot springs normally smell gassy. But this place just smelled bad. Bad bad bad. Like a literal toilet and like bad bacteria. For the public soak rate of $10-15, you get access to ONLY ONE COMMUNAL HOT SPRING which is set up like a hot tub and does not feel "natural" at all. This one pool had a lot of visible dirt and sediment floating in the water. It smelled like human chicken broth. An old rich lady and her autistic grandson were loudly gossiping about how fat everyone else looked. The fancier springs pictured on the internet cost about $85/hour to rent, and even if I had the money and audacity to do this, I would not do so based on the lack of cleanliness in the public facilities. The bathrooms were not clean, and in fact, everything was so dirty and gross that I'm confused by the more positive reviews. I felt itchy, smelly, and stuffed up until I was able to get to the nearest state park for a proper shower in clean water. When I got out of the shower and smelled the clothes that had been on my body, I understood why I'd overheard a Walmart associate gossip to her peers in Spanish (a few hours earlier) that "that white girl stinks." Even after doing laundry, my swimsuit still smells like a literal pile of garbage. This might have actually ruined my swimsuit. I would never do this again and I definitely don't recommend it. read more

Staff have been super helpful, especially Cameron and Sonny (sp?)! Guests have been friendly. Pool and soaking tub are perfect temperatures and very reasonably priced! My review is only for someone coming to enjoy the hot spring tub and pool. The price at only $15 is an awesome deal. Not everything was extremely clean but this is a campground so beggars can't be choosers. The spring water does have a sulphuric smell so some people may not want to swim in it as much, I also have heard some people feel there is benefits to it for the slim and I am not educated on it. I didn't have a bathing suit, which worked out as the people working there have ones people can use no charge! read more

The hot springs part of Jackson wellsprings is amazing. The pools are well kept. Locker rooms are very clean. Staff is attentive. The soaking is very relaxing and worth the price. All the guests I encountered were very kind and respectful. The garden and back meadow is also really amazing please check these out! Unfortunately not everything was amazing during my stay. The last time I stayed here I stayed in a dome. This stay it wasn't available so i opted for the tipi. I didn't have a very good stay. I didn't realize how loud it would would be in proximity to the highway. Neighbors playing loud music. Cars shining their lights into the tent late at night. Neighbors canoodling. Im glad I had the option to sleep in my car but definitely feel for those who have not arrived by car. I thought it was weird that the community room wasn't open as an option to sit and cool down in especially for campers. I spent my stay hot and exhausted. The bathroom is protected like there's gold water running when in reality it really needs some TLC. I'm writing this review to hopefully see some improvements because talking to other campers& seeing other reviews it seems like my sentiments are shared. read more

I camped in the meadow. Lots of dried up old dog excrement around the area. The dirty slimy stinky bathroom is tiny with stalls you can barely fit in. A homeless guy resides all day in a covered area outside the bathroom. The clientele in the camping area is dominated by many that appear to be living out of their vans. They seem to know each other. The Tuesday night I stayed, there was a dance party/rave somewhere on the property until 10 pm with relentless thumping bass. The grounds are unkempt with junk around and dumpsters overflowing. I have to be honest... this place is disgusting. What they told me was a "cold plunge" was really just a pool. The hot soaking, was so nasty. Hair, nails and gunk. The steam room and sauna was pretty full, but not terrible. The bathroom and shower were pretty gross too. Even though it was only $15, it is not worth the worry of ringworm and giardia. read more

As soon as we pulled in the parking lot we left immediately. This is a homeless encampment with broken down moldy trailers strewn about, tents and tarp houses, trash everywhere at people's camps that were clearly unhoused and had poor sanitation. Heed the other reviewers warnings about how the so-called soaking tubs have never been cleaned and are a health hazard before you encounter drugs and a cesspool of diseases. Did not feel safe and even from the car it smelled not like a sulfury hot spring but like a refuse toilet. read more

Nice looking hot springs, very peaceful. They have an adult only swimming time which is so very important to adults without kids. The camping spots are pretty small. We couldn't fit our trailer into one so we didn't end up staying, if you are tenting or have a smaller trailer / RV it would work great for you read more

Old trashy rundown campground with lots of sketchy people around. The owner is a narcissist who breaks his own campground rules and retaliates if you mention that the rules are being broken. Tuesday night is ecstatic dance night with music blasting so loud you can feel the bass through the RV walls. I just had to leave my campsite for 4 hours on Tuesday nights as it was so unbearable. The hot spring is just a regular pool like you could soak in for free at many hotels but it cost $15 to soak. I'm an alternative sort of person and usually enjoy hippie type places like this, but this place only has the window dressing of love and peace. if you are sensitive to energy, you will notice right away that it feels off. The rundown condition of the place feels very different from the way it is presented on the website. The entire place desperately needs a big overhaul and new ownership. It's sad to see a natural treasure like a hot springs treated in such a way. read more

The Jackson Wellsprings have been in the region for close to 100 years back when the natural spring was steaming right off the highway. It's been not just a place to soak, steam and sauna and relax for a bit after some travels, but it also is a place to connect with the community there and the myriad of weekly events that are happening. The staff are friendly and just forewarning, some of the water in the showers will smell of the lithia water, it's not bad but just different. I always feel more relaxed after visiting the Springs, and sometimes make new friends on the visits. read more

We would never return! Stayed here with our RV, the surge protector would not turn green. They got some guy with a voltmeter who tried to tell us it was our surge protector but not so it worked fine when we got home. when we disconnected the sewer line there was visual sewage floating in the hole, the whole place was swampy. The water we hooked up to the rv was sulfur and we had to flush everything when we got home. The 103* hot tub was only big enough for maybe 10 people. The pool that looked like a big hot springs in the brochure was too cold to get in. There are nicer places and we thought this was a different place because the names are so similar. This place wasn't for us. We are a 2-mom, 2-kid family. We meadow camped for 3 nights and nearly didn't make it to the 2nd night. First, the entire place was unkempt. The meadow was wildly overgrown, which invited mice and an awful lot of bugs into the camping areas. The bathrooms were worse. I don't think they've been cleaned ever. The the springs were fine. Enjoyable to swim and float in, even for the kids. Still, the facilities were dirty and unkempt. The folks were nice enough and we were reassured when we saw other families there. We finished out our 3-nights and won't be going back. The space has potential, but it would require lots of money and commitment to get it there. read more

Basically, there are two COMPLETELY different experiences at the Jackson Wellsprings. 1) The Wellsprings - the facilities are amazing. I felt like the bathrooms were clean, and the quotes on the walls were an interesting touch. The steam and sauna rooms were pleasant and quiet with people meditating. The spa was well maintained and very, very soothing. The large pool is also a fantastic place to float around, do laps, or just soak. I particularly liked that the spa and pool were not overly hot - just right. The prices were also fantastic. 2) The Campgrounds - right away, these are a big NO for me. The grass was a wild mix of hard ground and gigantic weeds. The whole thing looked slightly like a dump. Obviously supposed to be a hands off camping experience, but in my opinion it went too far. I did not feel safe camping there, and opted to find a hotel instead. There was at least one person changing in full view. Additionally, the campground is roughly ten feet from the highway, with non-stop traffic, and the railroad tracks are nearby. Overall, I would recommend the Wellsprings, and hope to come back soon. However, don't get too excited about the camping. read more

Our stay would probably have been a lot better if we had good directions to get there! We were told not to use Google map so we tried others and still couldn't find it. Had to stop at a motel for directions which were better then the written ones we received. Got there an hour later and the office was closed. Our paperwork was waiting for us but we asked for a pull through but got a back in, which was real fun in the dark rain trying to back in a tiny spot with over grown trees making it very hard to use our pull out! We did have a group of stoners helping us as best they could! They were having a good time, though, and it made for a nice evening! We were just passing through so we couldn't stay for the spa amenities but they sound pretty good from the other reviews! I just don't recommend this place as we saw others that were bigger and more modern but it you need a quick place to stay cheap this place is good! They just need BETTER map directions! read more

Well intentioned and thought out. Online tickets were eaay, check-in was a breeze. Bring a towel and water. Olympic sized pool and separate hot soaking tub. Two saunas and shower/changing rooms. We forfeited our prepaid 2 night RV Camping stay. As we pulled into the grounds we noticed that everything was unkept and in complete disrepair. The Staff was helpful but subdued due to a guest problem they were dealing with. The guests however at the resort were very pleasant and very helpful, I believe they were full time residents. When we pulled into our overgrown RV site the permanent trailers surrounding the site had tarps and junkyards in their spaces. It is swimsuit optional but also hygiene optional it appears. I would be very cautious on the condition of pools and baths. Maybe if I was in my 20's and traveling with a backpack I would think this quirky and fun. read more

Paid somewhere around $45 for my overnight for a van for two people with all the access to restrooms and spas. I think it was a pretty good deal considering the amenities and a very open, relaxed down to earth community. Got a good soak in at night and another before we picked up and left in the morning. As a note: The owner makes killer popsicles, would recommend trying some! This was our time visiting and will certainly not be the last! read more

We parked our trailer, stayed the night and left first thing in the morning. I would say this place is poorly maintained, but honestly, I don't think it is maintained at all. Black mold and terrible mildew smell assaulted our nostrils when walking into the bathroom/shower room. Spiders and webs everywhere, lurking in the showers and under the unwiped toilets. Same water as the sulphur springs from the shower so don't plan on smelling fresh after your shower, rather like an egg salad sandwich left out in the heat. Two black widows waited in the electrical box when I went to hook up. There is evidence of permanent residents here as well. I wouldn't come back unless the place was under new ownership with all kinds of remodel. Right now it is a neglected dump. read more

I really wanted to like this place but I would never come here or recommend it to anyone. I could look over the elderly man at the front's unwelcoming energy but the cleanliness of this place absolutely not. He requires you shower in the most disgusting water that smells like rotten eggs so bag I almost threw up. It literally sticks to your body and hair you will smell like a rotten egg im not even joking. But tbh I don't even know if this is a real hot spring. It was incredibly dirty. The place REAKS of mold and mildew. I was scared to breathe in the air because of how bad it was. The actually "hotspring" is very small and they oversell the time slot so it's some pretty crowded.. like 15-20 people is a 10ft x 6ft pool. read more

There are two parts to my review- The soaking/hot spring experience was nice. The no shoes policy beyond the entry way is very difficult for people with disabilities and low mobility I would highly recommend missing this policy. I understand what they are doing with the no shoes but there is a way to make this better. The water in the hot pool warmed me up to my core and the cool pool to jump in was much appreciated. The camping accomodation is subpar. There is no way around this. The bathrooms have not been cleaned in months maybe longer based on the spiders, dirt, grime, lack of soap, or paper towels. The parking is not level and the traffic noise makes it hard to sleep well. I did not realize this place was right on the old highway. I would come back for a hot spring soak and avoid the other accommodations!! read more

I was recently at Jackson Wellsprings and encountered a man named Condor who said he was a security guard there. He offered Me a massage in the soaking pool and I felt strangely obligated to accept. Things became uncomfortable really fast and I asked him to stop. He became hostile and unfriendly so I left. I came back the next evening and saw him again and he scared me so I left again. This was a seriously disturbing encounter. Will not be going back. Sex offender vibes something terrible. read more

One of my favorite spots in the country. Sure, there are pros and cons compared to any other spot like this. But what you get for what you give is just right for me. If you have a dog, please be VERY MINDFUL about ticks. Keep dogs close or at least out of the tall grass and such. And please politely voice this concern till something is done about that. This space is beautiful, natural, down to earth, and old but clean. If you're too fussy, expect it to be plush, or expect a bunch of spa-yuppies, you might miss out on the best time of your life here, because it's the community and the culture between the patrons that REALLY makes this place special.
