My dad and I stopped in on a motorcycle ride the other day. We were greeted by the general manager, Sheresa. She welcomed us like family. The atmosphere of the restaurant reminds me of a family cabin tucked away in the woods. I had the patty melt. My dad had the small cove pizza. I must say the food was incredible for the price it tasted authentic and like someone really took the time and love to make this food. The server Baker was very respectful while also being very personal, by the time we were done dining at this establishment I felt like family with the whole staff. I would Absloutly reccomend this place to anyone who is in the area. The views of the lake are Absloutly stunning this time of year the way the sun glances off of the water. When we finished our meal a problem with one of our bikes appeared which lead us to having to leave one of the bikes up here. Sheresa was a saint by letting us store the bike next to the restaurant keeping it away from anyone who was around while we went and got a pickup to bring it back home. This place is a gem I would give it 6 out of 5 stars if that was an option thank you to the staff here again. read more

BEWARE! Your reservation is NOT guaranteed to be available. I have been staying at the resort for over 20 years & the last 2 years I received a call 24 hours before arrival to tell me that "we just implemented a new program for reservations & we double booked". The first year it happened fortunately there was another cabin available but not as nice as the one we reserved. No effort was made to compensate us for the extreme inconvenience this caused. The second year there were no other cabins available! There were 4 of us that were going to stay at the cabin. Imagine having to call them & give them that news! We had all taken time off work. I even called 3 weeks before the reserved date because I was concerned after what had happened the previous year & told them I was calling to make sure there would be no issues. They insisted my booking was secure. They sent me muliple emails over the next 3 weeks w/ confirmation. The general manager couldnt care less! She said they were NOT willing to make it right & that the refund was enough. She was extremely rude & couldnt believe I was upset since they had given me a refund. I had reserved the cabins both times 4-6 months in advance. I asked the general manager to have the owner call me which she said she would. Its been 2 months & no call yet. I understand mistakes happen but the response I was given was horrible! When we stayed at the cabins we would spend at least $200 in their restraunt & always tip well. On a positive note the restraunt is great & the staff is always helpful & friendly. Yes you must come here, weather permitting. Situated right on the lake it's a nice little oasis in the middle of the mountains. I didn't stay here but enjoyed my time in the cafe where I was warmly greeted, I made the mistake of coming late in the day (5 minutes to go before they closed) and they still were super cool. I got the regular burger and it was very tasty. Fun thing is they also have Shasta soda, which is always awesome to see! Thanks for the great hospitality! read more

This place is disgustingly dirty and gross! I love the concept but it needs to be maintained better and it needs a lot of work. We stayed in a cabin and there were brown stains all over the bed and dirt everywhere. Not to mention there were bugs everywhere and we found some rodent poop. The service was not the best but the restaurant closed at 7PM so it was pretty early. Did not try the food but it looked mediocre. If you are looking for a decent stay this is not the place. read more

Went to Hyatt Lake Resort to get ice cream after a long hike. There was one person working the counter and restaurant. She said "I'll be with you in a minute." 15 minutes later I'm still standing there-she never came back. Their soft serve machine has been broken for over a month and they haven't replenished their regular ice cream in weeks. Terrible service and management could use some pointers on how to run food service. Won't be going back. read more

We stayed in the cabins at Hyatt Lake during a 10 day road trip. I booked several months in advanced and checked out their website thoroughly before choosing a cabin. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I called for info and booking and again at check in. It's a long way up the mountain from the closest town but there is a small store and a restaurant onsite. No real need to make the drive into town unless you need to stock up on supplies. There's also another small cafe at the bottom of the hill if you need another food option. The cabins are nicely furnished, well kept, comfortable, and the hot tub on the side deck was a fantastic highlight to our stay. Our cabin was equipped with a mini kitchen including a small fridge and anything we'd need to prepare food. There's a living room area, dining area, nicely updated bathroom and bedroom with a very comfy bed. I had the impression the cabins would actually be "on" the lake but the lake is across the street from the property. Our cabin actually faced the opposite direction into the woods. We were completely fine with this since it seemed more private. The only unfortunate thing about the cabin was the machinery that was running most of one of the days that we stayed. I'm not sure if it was some kind of repairs or upgrades happening but a trench was being dug and then refilled directly across from our cabin. Very loud. We decided to take a long drive around the lake and into the nearest town to get away from the noise. Overall it's a comfortable get away and we really enjoyed the hot tub. Hopefully if we return the construction will be done with and it will be a little more relaxing for our entire stay. read more

All great stories start out with a tall tale. Mine is not tall..... It's true I've been hiking the PCT for the past week, hitting every resort along the way..... I popped out on a road near Campers Cove campground @ 6pm-- dead tired. I recognized immediately where I was, I had read about the hamburgers and pizzas at the resort in my PTC book..... So I instantly knew I had very little time to put in the extra 1.5 miles to get to the resort, but I questioned my legs.... If I was going to put the legs through hell I had better make sure they were open so I called the resort. Aiden answered the phone and assured me they were open and that they would have cold water and hot food for me. He even sent one of his employees to pick me up at the trailhead. Now here's where my tale begins. I was impatient as always. So I started hiking down the road towards the resort. About 5 minutes later my ride drove right by me, headed to the pick up location........ my bad. I plodded down the road with the pure intention of getting a hamburger before they closed. Fastest 1.5miles hiked that day.... Like 4 minutes flat... Lol (x3). I barged through the front door 10 minutes before closing time and Aiden was there with a glass of water and an apology. He knew his guy had passed me. Didn't matter to me, little did I know I just stumbled into home. I asked Aiden for the biggest meal they had. I didn't even care if it was a burger or not. Before the sweat even stopped dripping off my head, Aiden brought me out a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and fries with onion rings on the side. I was hungry, so hungry In fact, I ate every bite and didn't even take a picture. The crew was gathering in the restaurant for closing / employee dinner. I had several good conversations within minutes of arrival. I'm the first Thru hiker of the season for them. I immediately booked the room for 2 days. My zero day is going to be spent with these amazing folks........ I'm now a groundskeeper here at Hyatt lake resort. They have given me a room in exchange for labor. I'll be here for the next 4 days letting my legs heal up and waiting out a nasty lil storm. I will update after my stay is completed As of this moment..... That may not come. You might have to come find me here. Wink wink. I think I found a slice of paradise..... Maybe I shouldn't be posting this one......????????? read more

Scam alert!! Hyatt Lake Resort does not have a "lake" and it is not a "resort." Stay away!! The cabin dwellings themselves are not as advertised. Fraud alert. They're cramped, tiny, and the nice photos on the website are outdated and misleading. The furniture was filthy. Do not trust their advice if you call ahead... we called and were explicit about the sleeping needs we had and still got hosed. We arrived with six people (four adults and two children) and realized immediately the six-person dwelling they booked for us -- unlucky No. 13 -- couldn't sleep more than four total people. They were happy to sell us a second cabin, though. Very deceptive. No. 13 unit... - Dirty and broken window coverings. - Garbage on porch and cigarette butts and filth around the porches. - Rodent infestation (I personally saw two mice and lots of droppings). - Alarm clock in living room went off at 3 a.m... no worries, I wasn't really sleeping anyway because the sofa bed was broken and uncomfortable. - Wifi is unreliable (oh, how I wish this were my only issue). - Uncomfortable beds and the loft ceiling so low that a grown adult couldn't reasonably be in the space. Really limits who can sleep where. - The "lake" waters receded so badly that there isn't a lake at all. Nobody tells you that until after you check in. Needless to say... our planned three-night stay has been reduced to 12 awful hours. We're leaving early and happy to get out of here. Save yourself the trouble. Do NOT book this place. It's a scam. I get it. It's close to the Pacific Coast Trail. If you're dirty, tired, and willing to sleep anywhere, I guess this place works. But it's not a getaway. It's not peaceful. It's not worth your money or time. That's as nice and pleasant as I can be to the place. read more

Was looking for a family vacation far from civilization during COVID. Ended up finding a retreat worth returning to several times a year. Adorable cabins; Great furnishings; Some (maybe all) with hot tubs. Immediately across a lightly traveled street from the lake (so no issues walking). Canoes and kayaks available for rent. You can fish from the shore or a boat. Oars or electric motors only so no wake. Admittedly they are in a drought so the water level is a little low right now but my kids still enjoyed playing in the water. However, there are other lakes all around for other swimming, boating or fishing opportunities. The resort has a tiny store with necessities but the restaurant is well equipped. (You MUST order the marionberry cobbler). And the staff. Oh the staff. It was like family. Will be seeing them again this winter as apparently it's also a great snow destination. read more

Anniversary getaway. The staff deserves a 5 star review no doubt. The food was great, No complaints there. The lake wasnt very full, but we still enjoyed the view and hiked the entire lake in 3 hours. The wifi was spotty, but they tell you that and we didnt want to be contacted anyways so we are good with that. upon arrival the cabin was small and tight, but it was only us two and our dog. The bed had mouse droppings on the pillow and sheets. We didnt want to complain because the staff was absolutely wonderful. The toilet can use a new seat and the soaps could use an update. Our cabin was very outdated but it served its purpose and made the best of it and had a wonderful weekend. I dont hold the staff responsible for the interior of cabin as the owner should be coming in and updating it. My only concern was if the blankets are washed after each use? Mothers Day Trip. What a wonderful place, were memories are made. The new owners are a Father and Son. They are fantastic. So responsive. You can find them working on the grounds, running errands or taking your order. Hyatt Lake is so nice. Cool breeze in the morning afternoon. Chill during the evening. Hot tubs are wonderful! Lots of trails to hike, the lake has so much wildlife right now. Babies everywhere! Morels are up. There has always been a great menu. Saturday night Prime Rib (worth the drive) Ray and Jesse have redone the restaurant to have more seating. A little store as you enter. They have added soft serve ice cream and ESPRESSO! They are reworking their menu adding Friday night Steak & Seafood Specials. Try Chef Dons Salmon with red pepper sauce Sooo GOOD! They are starting to experiment on making pizza dough and bread from scratch. My mom, daughter and myself come to Hyatt every year for Mothers day weekend. We have never been disappointed. The little rustic cabins, the hiking, the games and movies available make this a wonderful place to stay in any weather! The staff is so friendly and responsive. Funny how one can have low expectations and be completely surprised when those expectations are ultimately deemed unrealistic. Such is the case of HLR. My wife's family used to come to the area maaaaaany years ago - the landscape/outlay I was given made me feel that this was going to be less than a 5 star experience. Boy was that wrong. The cabins can't be more than a few years old - they are very clean, comfortable and easy to use. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, cookware, etc., - there is no want. There were six of us and a dog, and, we had more than enough room. The little restaurant which is part of the property is quaint, provides yummy grub (3 egg omelette was a beast!) and is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. They also make milk-shakes that are way good, and, they make them all day!! All in all, a great experience. Comfy lodgings, food nearby, lake across the street, beautiful weather - basically, couldn't ask for anything more. Except maybe meeting up with the in-laws afterward. I can always do without that!! The resort itself is everything you could ask for - clean, modern, spacious cabins with hot tubs, friendly staff, a store to stock up on supplies, and a restaurant that makes a solid pizza. However, visitors should know that the lake immediately adjacent is a reservoir that does get pretty drained in late summer, so it's not always an idyllic lakeside experience as one might hope. On the bright side, fishing in Hyatt was spectacular (along the rock wall of the dam), and I limited out quickly with 2-3lb rainbow trout on consecutive days. Also, Little Hyatt lake (and it *is* little) is a short drive away (5-10 mins) which is a beautiful spot to lay water-side and go for a swim or paddle, or join up with the pacific crest trail for some exercise. Overall, we had a great time once we figured out how to work around the low water levels, and I'd recommend the resort. read more

Let me start off by saying that this is a late review for our stay in Oct. 2020. This place has the makings of awesomeness, but unfortunately our cabin let us down. I would give a 4-5 star rating for staff, but am giving a 2 star rating for the cabin we stayed in, cabin #7. The website is great and provides a lot of images and information about each cabin. We made our selection accordingly. The "resort" is not very big and the cabins are pretty close together. They are really cute and picturesque on the outside but rather small and cramped on the inside. A four person cabin was cramped with 2 adults and 2 kids. We arrived late, after check-in and staff were very accommodating to leave the door unlocked with the key inside beforehand so we could get in when we needed to. When we got there, a nearby staff member checked in to make sure everything was ok, and upon initial arrival, everything seemed fine. As we started settling in, we began to notice the downsides of the cabin. The living room furniture was different from the online pictures. Not usually a big deal, but the pictures online showed a nice, newer leather couch and newer looking side chair. What was in the cabin was a fabric covered couch and recliner that looked like something from the 90s. With a pandemic going on, Im going to assume that the dated fabric couch was not ever sanitized, nor could be, and who knows how many people have sat/laid on them. Ok, so no biggie, we covered the furniture with some spare sheets and all was good. When we moved into the kitchen to prepare dinner, we noticed the microwave looked pretty rough and grimy. It appeared to be broken/damaged on the outside, but it did still function. The inside of the stove was not clean and we opted to not use it at all. And it was a good thing we didn't because midway through our dinner, as we were sitting and talking at the table, a mouse darted underneath the stove from out of who knows where. I get that we're out in the woods and winter was coming, but apparently that mouse or other mice have been living in this cabin for a while. NOT OK! We not only saw it climbing out from behind the stove and make its way onto the countertop, but we saw it's little presents of mouse droppings on the counter, in the sink, and on the floor, and that was just in the kitchen. When we got into the back bedroom we discovered that there were droppings on our pillow cases too. We were completely grossed out, and wanted to leave, or at the very least change cabins. Lucky for us the woman who checked on us earlier was still awake and sitting outside of her cabin, so we told her about the situation and asked if we could move. We were told there were no open cabins, but that they could give us clean bedding and set some mouse traps under the stove. Since it was already late, we took the offer and tried to make the best of the evening. On the upside, the loft space looked more like we were expecting and the bathroom was clean, so the stay was doable, but the rodent in the kitchen made our experience, what was supposed to be a nice relaxing weekend, not very relaxing at all. The following morning, the staff were very apologetic and gave us a complimentary breakfast at the cafe. They also provided us with a voucher for a 2-night stay in a larger cabin for another time. We were very appreciative of their efforts, but really hope that they can better address the mouse problem and update the furniture to reflect what they are advertising. I don't typically write reviews, but I chose to stay here based on the awesome reviews I read, so I want to give people a heads up as to what you could encounter if you base your decision solely on the good reviews. Hopefully your stay will be better than ours. read more

THE BEST SWEET CREAM PANCAKES EVER! Black bear diner boasts sweet cream, but this are a thousand times better! We camped down the road and enjoyed the little restaurant here. The calzones are also phenomenal! Highly recommend stopping by for a bite!! Not to mention the staff is incredibly friendly and treated us like family. I have stayed here twice in the last two weeks and both stays were awesome! The staff here is friendly and responds to your needs quickly. The location is perfect - quiet and very scenic. It is literally across the street from Hyatt Lake. The two cabins I have stayed in were absolutely spotless. The linens, towels, dishes, and hot tubs were immaculate. The food from the restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. It can get hot up there this time of year but at that elevation, it cools off VERY quickly as the sun sets and there are ceiling fans in all of the rooms. The cabins stayed cool during the day. The cell service is very spotty in this area, nothing they can do about that. There is WIFI in the restaurant and store area only. read more

I wish I could give this place 100 stars. To start off, I will caveat with the fact that I did not stay at the Hyatt Lake Resort. My family and I were tent camping at the Hyatt Lake Recreation Center. That being said however, we rented kayaks from the Hyatt Lake Resort, had a few meals at their restaurant, and frequented their general store to re-stock on some supplies. Service was very friendly, food was great and could not have been more pleased. What really sets this place apart however, is the couple running it- Sunshine and Grasshopper. We had a family emergency- my grandmother was rushed to the hospital and was not expected to make it through the night. With no cell service, my mother had been unable to get into contact with me. On a whim, she called the Hyatt Lake Resort, hoping that maybe we had been there and maybe they remembered us. Quite a long shot given how busy they were there (also a testimony to how great the place is). Sunshine answered my mother's call and sent her husband Grasshopper on the hunt to track us down. He drove ALL OVER the lake and campsites asking around for us until he tracked us down to deliver the news of our family emergency. They then offered up their phones and wifi so that we could get in touch with family back home. I seriously could not believe the great lengths that these folks went to in order to help us in a time of need- We were not even guests at their resort! Next time we head up to Hyatt Lake we will absolutely be skipping the tent and heading straight to Hyatt Lake Resort. These people truly are wonderful and kind and it shows in how they run their business. read more

What a wonderful place to stop and get away. It's on the crest of the Cascades outside of Ashland and Medford. We had a lovely evening wish we could've stayed longer. This is a very human scale experience and probably typical of a bygone era where the person who checked you on, May have clean your room and flips around and serves you dinner. Food was good room was delightful the view was amazingly peaceful and there was abundant water fowl to watch. Be advised that the lake primarily serves flood control and irrigation purposes for the rogue River Valley. So when we visited in August there was no boat traffic and the shoreline was quite large as the water had been drawn down significantly. We could've definitely put our canoes in and paddled around or used our trolling motor if we wanted to but it would've been a quite a walk from the boat ramp down to the water line. The flipside of that is that there was no power boat traffic and ask the resort is situated on a very low traffic county road it was almost a wilderness experience. Cell service on Verizon is intermittent at best but if you were here then that is probably what you want just be sure to communicate to folks that you will be completely out of touch and they will not be disappointed. There is limited Wi-Fi in the store so you're not completely out of reach if you feel compelled to check in. However this is one of the few places on the PCT where the trail actually bisects civilization directly. Be kind and don't hog the Wi-Fi so that so it is available for those that are passing through on the trail to connect with family and friends that they may have not spoken to her weeks. read more

My family and I were really excited to get up to Oregon...until we arrived. The Good: 1.) It's decorated beautifully. If you like Hobby Lobby like we do, you'll like the decor. 2.) It's right across the road from the lake which was really cool because most of the lake was frozen and the kids had a good time playing around near it (and on it.) 3.) Location (double-edged sword, see "The Bad" below.) I loved that we were away from everything and the kids could really focus on nature. The Bad: 1.) The downstairs master bedroom had the absolute worst mattress I've ever slept on. Actually, I didn't sleep on it, I chose to sleep on the couch because it was more comfortable. It was just too soft for me. Like sleeping in a hammock. 2.) There is a what looks to be a fairly new hot tub on a nice deck just out the back door that would have seen more use if it was possible to set the water above "lukewarm" (102 degrees according to the display, but in 25 degree weather, it got cold really quickly.) We spent a total of about 20 minutes in the hot tub during our stay. 3.) Location. You're far away from everything. It was a solid 45 minute drive to get to Ashland down a windy, icy road, 2 hours to Crater Lake, etc. None of that is really that bad because we knew that going in. What was bad was that there was no cell or internet service inside the cabin. That doesn't sound too bad unless a problem arises and you have to try and contact someone and the restaurant/front desk is closed (they closed at 6pm) 4.) The owner. The first owner I met was Bob who was really nice and accommodating. On our first night there we set up two of the space heaters and we ended up tripping a breaker. After searching the house for the breaker box I finally found it outside. The only problem was that nothing was tripped! That's when I found out that there was no way to call anyone because of the cell service and that everything was closed. I thought I was going to have to drive somewhere far to get service, but I got one bar of "extended 1x" service right across the street. When I called I was told that "Bob" would be over to fix it right away and he was walking up the stairs not two minutes later. That was great service. It turns out there was another breaker box in the living room. While he was there I also pointed out that none of the lights in the back worked. Not the back porch light nor the light bulb string that goes all around each of the houses. He searched for a reason, but couldn't find one and said he would send the electrician over in the morning. No worries... The next day we were gone all day and when we returned nobody had come to fix the lights in the back. Because we had already missed one evening of using the hot tub because the women and kids refused to go outside without lights, and there was no way to get ahold of anyone easily, I searched for a solution. It was super easy. I just replaced the light bulb in the porch light and we used one of the extension cords we brought to connect to the light string! Yay! We could finally use the cold hot tub... The next day we decided to eat breakfast in the restaurant where a lady with a HORRIBLE attitude waited on us. Bob was there and offered us an extra night stay for free which we graciously accepted. The waitress then overheard my 9-year-old say something negative about her hash browns and couldn't stop talking down to us after that. My wife and her friend asked the other lady working there if we could get our towels replaced and we were told that they would send housekeeping over while we were gone for the day. Again, when we got back (after 6pm) all the towels we had left in a pile were still there. I again drove across the street to make a phone call and the same lady who waited on us at breakfast answered and snapped that she would be right over. She came over a few minutes later with new towels, but while she was there she made a bunch of very rude comments and then practically accused us of getting the hot tub dirty! I asked her who the manager was and she said she owned the place. I then asked why, when we asked for the lights to be fixed and some clean towels, nobody comes until I call then she comes over and tells me she had to "spend an hour and a half cleaning and draining the hot tub" in an accusing tone? She literally started yelling and cussing at me saying stuff like "My fucking staff doesn't do their job, my husband is sick, I'm going to have a seizure" all while clenching her cigarette. Then she just walks away in the middle of us talking! What the...? I never saw her again. It felt like she really resented her husband giving us a free night, but I would have gladly paid more to just be treated like a customer. Unfortunately that didn't happen. Sorry, no more space to write... Maybe we had high expectations, but this "Resort" just didn't live up to it's name. It's too bad because it could be a really nice place with better management. read more

We went on a family trip to the area. We had 4 cabins at the resort. They were clean and Comfortable. Upon arrival, we were treated like family. What a lovely staff. We had a blast. Coffee and breakfast in the restaurant was yummy and fun. We kinda took over a large section and all of the people that worked breakfast joined the craziness and kept smiling and serving food. The scenery is amazing! We were on a work retreat and stayed in cabins 47 & 48; the hot tubs were a perfect way to start each morning. Absolutely loved the porch for dinner, meetings, and having tea before bed. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a much needed escape. read more

Weekend getaway. It was pretty lovely the first night. The staff was super welcoming and the place was warm and cozy. The second day there was nonstop traffic like Grand Central Station. The second night a dog from a permanent residence on the resort started barking at 2am intermittently until around 730am. It was still nice to just getaway, so we tried not to let it bother us. We noticed a charge on our bank account for, what they later told me after I called, "damaged towels". I could not think of anything other than wiping off coffee from the counter with a washcloth. They had no explanation either, so I had to come up with that myself and that was on just a washcloth, so I'm not sure why there were a couple pieces supposedly damaged. I had to call twice to be told that whoever I was speaking to was only the middle man, but Sunshine (a manager/middle man?) eventually said I could email the owner through the website. I never even got a courtesy reply. It was an incredibly disappointing way to end our trip. My husband and I were looking for a nice getaway and for a place our whole family can come up in the snow-about 8 cabins full. After speaking with everyone, it seems like this is a place you might have to walk on eggshells in with children if they can charge fully responsible adults for "damaged towels". Staying in cabins is not new to us, but these random charges are. It's not about the money, but the principle. We will not be back and our families are no longer willing to risk the headache. read more

I have stayed at Hyatt probably 8 times to get away and relax, this last time was terrible. The staff is rude and inconsiderate. A woman named Betty manages the front desk overcharged us by $132.00!! When confronted about it she lied and laughed at us and said, "I already charged you!" I will never go back here and hope you don't either, a waste of time and money. Not to mention the lawn mowing right outside our cabin at 7am on a Saturday and a man raking the cement with a metal rake for 2 hours early Sunday morning. Anything but relaxing. read more

Beware. Hyatt Lake Resort was deceptive, neglecting to mention the lake level when taking our reservation, despite being fully aware that there was no lake (worth the name) for us to come to. Hyatt "Lake" was more of a large shallow pond, choked with weeds on all sides. This was mentioned only on the day of arrival when it was too late for a refund, and I know of several other families who were similarly misled, after seeing lovely photos on the resort's website and never being informed of the true situation. Changes to the dam several years ago mean the lake level fluctuates as water is needed for agriculture. In addition, when we learned the truth (when calling just before arrival), they assured us there was another nearby lake, Howard Prairie Lake, where we could swim, boat or fish in instead. However, THAT lake too was drained - the heat-baked shallow algae and weed-choked remnant of Howard Prairie Lake was dwarved by the surrounding muddy banks, with eerie looking dead trees and rocks portruding all around. You'd have to be desparate to want to spend any time there. We tried swimming with our kids, but it was pretty depressing. However, after driving 6 hours to get here - and having no other choice - we made the best of it. The cabin (#19) was decent - though they oversold that too. They'd claimed that there was both a creek and a "pond" next to the cabin. The "pond" turned out to be a 6-8 inch deep pool in the tiny creek that they'd dammed off using rocks and plastic, with some stocked trout. The house itself was mostly nice, more secluded than the rest, with a view of the forest, bridge over the creek, hot tub and large deck. Most of the house was fine, with some exceptions: (4 windows with broken mechanism that prevented them from staying open; non-working outlets throughout the master bedroom, and large gaps or unstable boards around the hot tub that would be a real danger to small children). Little Hyatt Lake (never mentioned by the resort), which we had to discover on our own by driving around dirt roads in the area, turned out to be lovely for swimming and hanging out - and was the only thing that saved our vacation. Little Hyatt is undeveloped (no bathrooms, boating or fishing), but swimmable and very pretty. read more
