This was a very nice property. This was my 1st time here and was the 2nd night stop for my four Day Rogue River Drift Boat Fishing Trip. Very nice place where several presidents like Ronald Reagan, George and Laura Bush and Jimmy and Roslyn Carter have visited and stayed. The dinner and breakfast that was served was top notch. Great tasting food with really good service along with a full bar. The rooms were very nice. Large rooms nicely furnished BUT their mattresses need to be replaced in my opinion. Just a suggestion since the rest of this fantastic lodge is awesome. read more

What a great start for our summer 2023. We were a group of three, two adults and our Son, took a weekend two night trip. Took Jerry's Jet Boat, was too much fun. A scenic guided tour up the River. Our captain was very knowledgeable, was a lot of fun and kept us safe. The lodge is amazing, the Hospitality is wonderful. Our host John and the Lodge staff provided great service, wonderful family style meals and the grounds situated over the Rouge River. Soaring Bald Eagles, many spieces of wild life and many places to enjoy the river. Tnight sky full of stars. The lodge is so comfortable and inviting, we highly recommed a trip to the Paradise Lodge. Our family loved Paradise Lodge. We stayed two nights and it was a trip our kids will never forget. The lodge is very remote and we took Jerry's Rogue Jet Boats on the 104-mile package to get there. There are no roads to get to Paradise Lodge and it's either a jet boat, hike in, or helicopter. The jet boat definitely adds to the entire experience. On route we saw bald eagles, a seal sunning on a rock, osprey, etc. You get a lot of refreshing splashes on the way too. The ride cost $95/per person, but it was worth every penny (it's a long ride to Paradise Lodge!) The lodge was rustic, but very comfortable. Every cabin has its own bathroom with a hot shower. There is no air conditioning or fans, but somehow even though we were there during a 100 degree + heat wave the cabins stayed fairly cool during the day and definitely cooled down during the evening. Service is outstanding. Six people work there and attend to your every need. The food is awesome for the property being so remote. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included and they don't mess around. For example, one breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, French toast, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice. You will never be hungry at the lodge. They also have wine and beer available. Speaking of service, it was so hot during our stay that the owner invited us to join him wearing life vests, hike a bit upstream,. and float down the Rogue River back to the lodge. It was a highlight of the the trip for our kids and one son took the trek with my husband and other guests four times! Wonderful memories. We will return! Jet Boat TIP: On our return the jet boat makes a 1 1/2 hour stop at Singing Springs Resort in Agness. We had a very mediocre buffet meal consisting of wilted vegetables, odd biscuits and fried chicken, etc. and it was roughly $60 for the four of us. I just returned from rafting the Rogue River. I have stayed at paradise Lodge 2 other times before my latest stay. It is a beautiful spot, however the customer service was absolutely awful. As I was checking in the lady at the front desk was okay but not friendly or welcoming. We were given no direction as to what to expect regarding our stay or meal times until I asked the questions and was met with an attitude like I was inconveniencing the staff. We enjoyed our dinner that was really delicious, It was a very rainy and cold night and we asked if they would put another log on the fire at 8 and were told no. Then we were asked to leave the main lodge by 9 even though lights go off at 10. The Breakfast was fine and the gal serving us was the ONLY employee that ever smiled or was a little friendly. We were then told to have our bags ready for pick up by 9 am. I was under the impression check out was 11. Our entire group felt completely unwelcome the entire time we were on the property. We were a large group but we were respectful and treated like we were a burden. After spending thousands of dollars for a one night stay for our group I would expect a little curtsey and the opportunity to enjoy the amenities like sitting by the fire in the main lodge until the lights get turned off.....instead we had to sit outside to continue to visit with our friends. Not one single employee said thanks for coming or anything as we were leaving. A truly odd experience. I would hope they would make some changes to their staff or teach them a customer service class.... Simply it is not hard to smile and say welcome, we hope you enjoy your stay. This is what you can expect as you stay at our beautiful lodge etc. Then Thanks for coming we hope to see you again. There are other lodges along the river that serve delicious food and have wonderful hospitality. I will be checking with them first on my next adventure down the Rogue River. read more

This is a beautiful oasis along the Rogue River. Really appreciated that aspect. However, service is lacking hospitality. While there, I witnessed three gentlemen who had been backpacking for two days who asked to purchase some cold beverages. The young woman in the lodge said there was no service to guests of the Inn. A few women nearby overheard this exchange and offered to buy the men their beverages but were told they could not do so. It was surprising to witness an off the beaten track jewel like the Paradise Inn lack such graciousness and have such an unwelcoming policy. It really rubbed us the wrong way amidst the beauty of this river valley. read more

My family and I travel every summer and are always excited for a new adventure. We found Paradise Lodge and could not wait to check it out after hearing many positive reviews from friends in the Oregon area. Our group of nine included members of all ages and there were activities to keep all of us equally entertained. The journey to P.L. began with a jet boat ride from the Oregon coast. The twists, short stops, splashes, and river history kept all of us laughing, interested, and enjoying the ride. Once we arrived at P.L., the staff helped us to our cabin and welcomed us to a delightful lunch. I highly recommend the hikes around P.L. My family enjoys family fun time and the fact that we could bring grandma on the hike with no problem was a great way for us all to share the afternoon (I am very lucky to have a young-at-heart grandma). There are more treacherous hikes for the experienced and many activities offered for the adrenaline junkie all the way down to the relaxer. Whatever your style, P.L. will have something for you. My family is highly competitive. We were immediately drawn to the offered footballs, soccer balls, golf, the volleyball sand court, and the ultimate Frisbee course. This allowed for some recreational time and friendly competition. At the end of the day, we hung out in the Garden cabin's conference room and played cards, Chess, and board games. At light's out, you can tell ghost stories and maybe even play practical jokes on grandma. Nothing beats local craft beer. Make sure to stop by the bar, pop open a brewski, and hang out on the hammock. The lodge offers books for you to borrow and staff for you to share stories with. People will be coming in and out of the lodge (those who hike in, water raft and need a place to stop, etc.). Everyone is friendly and having a good time. read more

Arrived Paradise Lodge by Jerry's Rogue Jets boat. The ride up the river was an exceptional experience, to the beautiful remote and tranquil setting of this amazing gem on the Rogue River. During our stay at the lodge, we were thrilled by an exceptional outdoor concert by Jeff Pevar and his band on the deck overlooking the majestic Rogue River! I was so impressed by the Lodge's accommodations, staff, food and hospitality. Given the remoteness of this lodge and logistics to bring in supplies, the staff clearly excelled in accommodating each guest individual needs! I am so excited to return next season and would highly recommend this unique adventure. The best part is that each guest gets to determine what level of adventure they are looking for....quiet walks in the pastures, hiking trails, hiking in the mountains, floating down the river in your life jacket, listening to beautiful music, or just taking in the breath taking wildlife including deer, eagles, hawks, that are all living on the property! read more

We were here in late August for an overnight after having had an exhilarating ride up from Gold Beach on Jerry's Rogue Jets (highly recommend!). (Note: The map shown above on Yelp is not the location of the actual lodge...go to Google Maps and do a search on 'Paradise Lodge, Agness, OR' to see its location). We were greeted at the dock by Jeff from Paradise Lodge who showed us the way up a winding trail up to the lodge but...OMG, I admit, being a bit out of shape, I wasn't prepared for the steep incline up from the dock, oof! My friends bounded up, no problem and I waved Jeff to go ahead as he was behind me and I'd catch up. He said, "No, if you wait, I will wait with you" (aw, what a nice guy taking care of his guests!) Finally reaching the top revealed a giant wrap-around deck and a large lodge and enormous field of grass beyond that. The lodge was beautiful and rustic with comfy chairs, bar area, fireplace, dining area. We didn't get keys to our cabins (because...we didn't need them, I guess) but they pointed them out down a path. Cabins were beautiful with comfy beds and bathrooms with wraparound deck and Adirondack chairs to sit back and enjoy the constant sound of the Rogue River down below us and the big wall of trees climbing up the steep mountain across the river. Along with our two friends accompanying us, there happen to be 6 other guests at the lodge. The lodge staff ring a loud bell when meals are served so all guests sat together and were served food in large platters, family-style -- food was awesome as well as the company of meeting new people with their varied, interesting lives. Just north of the cabin areas, the lodge maintains a large field of grass, approx. 40+ acres with a few other cabins on its perimeter and hiking trails to the east and west. A few times during the day, there were deer out and about. At night when it basically got pitch black, we walked out to the field from the cabin to gaze at the many stars, Milky Way and the occasional satellite speeding across the sky -- something we rarely have the opportunity to see so many celestial objects while living in a big city. Keep in mind that there is no WiFi at the lodge. It's too remote so don't bother trying to plug in to the web. I tried my personal mobile hotspot on my phone and that didn't work either so bring a book however...the Lodge shuts down the generator at 10 pm sharp so the entire campus goes dark including in the cabin and restarts at about 7 am. While previous reviews stated bad/rude service, that wasn't our experience at all even when they were serving hikers passing through and other river rafters who stopped in. Staff were courteous and helpful and there was one guy who came up briefly from the river to ask if they sell ice cream which the proprietor immediately obliged. If they have to turn back non-guests as stated in other comments below, I assume it's because they have a limited supply of perishable goods that they have to plan for based on room reservations (as well as for themselves since the staff of approx. 5 people plus the proprietor's family live there) and everything has to be shipped upriver by raft or speedboat which I imagine can be costly for them. Along the route on the river, there were a number of commercial rafters carrying goods as well as garbage to and from the various lodges and homes dotting the river so I believe that's how Paradise Lodge gets its items. So, would we return? Absolutely! read more

While doing a little research on the Rogue River Trail I learned that there were lodges along the away and some people choose to day hike lodge to lodge. This was my interest on this particular trip but I was considering coming back in with a group of friends and doing this. So I thought i'd stop in and see what kind of amenities the lodge might have. I stopped at Paradise twice while hiking on the Rogue River Trail in the late July heat. The first time was in the evening around 6:30PM. I stopped into the bar and was told they were closed to non-guests at 5PM. They had no food to sell me. I thought this was a little strange, but asked if they would sell me something cold to drink. The person tending bar did let me buy a Sprite, which I very much appreciated, as I'd hiked roughly 13miles in 95deg heat that day. After taking a break on for a little while and getting a cup of ice water. Someone from the kitchen came out and asked if I was a guest and reminded me that they were closed to non guests. At this point I was feeling a little unwelcome so I left. The next day after hiking up the river and returning back through Paradise Lodge, I stopped in at about 1PM and asked if they were serving lunch. I was curtly told that food service was only for guests of the lodge. This was a little disappointing as I was craving some real food after camping for 3 days. I wasn't guest planning to stay that time, but I didn't feel welcome or stopping by wanting to buy some food and drinks. Yes, I might have been a little sweaty and grundgy, I was hiking in that wilderness after all. It is my opinion that they are missing out on business by not having a more open and welcoming attitude to anyone that stops by in that beautiful scenic area. Needless to say, I won't be staying there when I hike through again, nor will I use a guide service that stays there. read more

I was really disappointed by my experience at Paradise Lodge. My friend and I had been hiking on the Rogue River Trail and were told (by a friend who had stayed at the lodge a few year prior) that we could stop in and they would sell us cold drinks. We had been looking forward to this stop all day but when we got there we were greeted by a sign outside the lodge that said " There are no strangers, only people we haven't met yet." Sounds inviting but once we got inside the lodge we were met by a young woman who was unfriendly. She did tell us we could purchase a can of soda for $3 but we weren't able to sit and drink it, that we had to leave. She was busy writing in her books at the counter and wouldn't turn to look at us. She was uninterested in us asking questions about the lodge and possible future stay there. Even though the sign out front was welcoming, we did not feel welcomed at all. Maybe they are more friendly to those staying at the lodge but in my experience as a passerby, they didn't want us there. Very sad because there isn't many stops along the way and they could make a lot of money on selling cold drinks to those stopping in. The lodge is beautiful and I would have loved to make this a possible overnight stay on my next trip ok this trail but with this experience I will skip this lodge next time. read more

Paradise Lodge is my new favorite remote destination!! The accommodations were comfortable and clean while the staff was nothing short of amazing. We took Jerry's Rogue Jets to access the lodge and were immediately welcomed at arrival. The staff took up our bags, led us to our cabin, and informed us of all of the "house rules". Coming from South Florida, full of hustle and bustle, I was unsure about the lack of electricity during certain hours and the remoteness of the lodge. However, those details made the trip even more special as we had to actually bond (imagine such a concept!). Our daily agenda looked something like this: Wake up, travel down to the main cabin for delicious breakfast (scrambled eggs, french toast or pancakes, bacon and sausage, oatmeal, yogurt, coffee); Spend the morning on a scenic hike; Travel back down to the main cabin for as much lemonade as we could possibly drink (or an Oregon-brewed beer); Watch the river; Play chess or the many other provided board games; Read a book in the most relaxing atmosphere while listening to the beauty of nature (running river, wind, etc.); Travel down to the main cabin for lunch (chef's choice sandwiches, pasta or potato salad, chips, KIND granola bars); Play some football, soccer, golf, or any of the other provided recreational activities; Explore some more; Maybe take a nap; Wait patiently for the never-disappointing dinner; Eat dinner (Chicken, ribs, tri-tip, or pork, chef's choice sides, excellent dessert); Then, at dusk, witness the wildlife enjoying the lodge probably as much as the guests (we saw skunks, deer, foxes, etc.); Lights are out at 10 p.m. (but, be advised that they do leave on the bathroom lights so that you don't have to pee in the dark... very important to note!). I have to throw in this review that I am an extremely high-maintenance eater (What can I say? I love good food!- it's the Taurus in me). I was nervous at first because of the remoteness of this location and wasn't sure what to expect. Honestly, I would give the food 5 stars in itself. The family-style meals were delightful, fresh, and full of flavor. To this day, we are still raving about the potato and pasta salads. Everything was made perfectly and the staff did not hesitate to bring seconds at request. If you'd like, you can purchase a bottle of wine (...great way to celebrate!) Everyone should experience Paradise Lodge at least once. I am looking forward to future visits and can't wait to bring my city-slicker, South Florida friends to experience the natural beauty of the Rogue River. I would give Paradise Lodge 10+ stars if I could. Although it was not requested (or required), we were happy to give the staff a well-deserved extra tip. The hospitality was as good as it gets and everyone was happy to provide a helping-hand, information on the best hikes, stories about the lodge, smiles, and just someone to talk to. Backpacker beware! These guys will not give you the time of day unless you have a room reserved and your money in their hands. There used to be a sign that said "backpackers welcome" on the trail as it enters their property. I guess that is only with a reservation. The least I've spent there is $48.00 for a can of sprite and a sweatshirt. I tried to talk my Daughter out of the sweater, as I prefer to give my money to business' that appreciate my being at their business. Half Moon Bar Lodge is under new ownership. I wish it was on the trail side of the river! I'm heading down on a Rogue raft trip in late September and would not consider staying at Paradise Lost. read more

Our Paradise Lodge experience.  My gal and I spent a weekend at the paradise resort May 22&23.  I'm here to inform all, this place is awesome!!  Right on the mighty Rogue river, beautiful spot just below blossom bar.  We took the 104mile jetboat trip, but you can helicopter in, or you can hike in. No roads, no phones, no TV, No noise, no wifi, no distractions, just the sweet sounds of the river to soothe and rehab the soul.  Now one might think the included food would also be primitive, well guess again!! Now understand I am a certified chef. I studied under the head chef of the Jolly Roger chain. I've bought and sold 15 restaurants, so I know food.  I've been to Club Med, every resort town in Mexico, 7 cruise ship trips, traveled both coasts in USA, so I know food.  I know world class cuisine ! Now let me introduce you to one of the mgr's and head chef at Paradise.  His name is Jay.  And he is the host with the most and a darn good chef. But in addition he is so helpful with all aspects of this gorgeous property.  All while being a very nice man.  His food is excellent (included), and quite plentiful. I gained 3 lbs. lol.  He really puts on a fully satisfying balance menu.  And a great baked dessert.  His presentation is second to none.  His care to detail is quite obvious. You come away satisfied every meal 3 per day. My gal and I are both foodies, and Jay offers a dining exp. I know everyone will enjoy to the max. I'm not related in any way, not the lodge or it's wonderful serving staff.  I felt compelled to write this because tipping only goes so far. Although you will want to. I've been to the lodge 10 years ago.  Since then they have remodeled the all wood interiors of the rooms.  As well as new improved decking, and a dining tent so you can sit outside and dine in any weather.  They have thought of everything.  They offer beer, wine, and cocktails!! (not included shucks).  So in closing let me just say perfect location, food, and service, 52mi. up the Rogue from Gold Beach Or.(ocean) We saw bald eagles, black bears with new cubs, great blue herons, osprey, sea lions, ducks, geese, well too many sightings to list.  Truly magical.  Thanks Jay,  we will be back soon. Wow! I was very pleasantly surprised to visit this lodge. First of all, this is a place to stay, not just visit. It has a very small staff that provides all the amenities. When you visit, plan on staying a few days and spending time with family. You can book a room overlooking the river or a mountain room in a lodge farther back on the property. From the minute you arrive, staff carry your belongings from the dock and take them to your room and help you with every need! Secondly, the rooms in the back of the property were large, had fireplaces, a huge bathroom and nice furnishings. Plus, there was not only a large outside deck, but a huge common room for games and relaxation. Third, the meals were fantastic and included with the stay. We ate tri-tip, bbq chicken, gourmet french toast, and many other tasty meals (all made from scratch.) There was no shortage of food or variety of choices. Even though there were only seven staff members total, the bar was always open! The main lodge was a great place to relax and watch the rafters going down the river. I read a previous post about the management not allowing rafters to leave trash, however, the rafters clearly did not understand that the only way in or out of the lodge is by boat. Why should anyone else be in charge of taking their trash down the river? Lastly, be prepared to turn off all electronic devices. There is no internet or phone service. BUT, plan to spend time in nature. We found a couple of small, private pools from mountain springs that we shared with newts. My children chased foxes, deer, and skunks (not very close, of course.) And, we shared a lot of game time! read more

Due to the distant location of this establishment and my slightly inconvenient dietary restrictions, I asked on the telephone if accommodations could possibly be made if given notice ahead of time. The woman I spoke with hesitantly said, "...sure.." at first, but when pressed further, she began interrupting me repeatedly and showed no interest in cordial exchange on the topic. When I expressed my dismay at her repeated and uncalled for interjections, she proceeded to cut me off again, tell me she didn't need to hear me out and chose to act unfriendly and defensive. Love this place. We stayed 3 years ago, and then again a couple weeks ago. We should have stayed more than one night this time! Very remote - have to boat in or hike in. We took the jet boat from Gold Beach. Overlooks the Rogue. So serene. Staff is great. Needs some maintenance in the rooms (leaky sink and shower), but you're not in your room much. read more

I had heard of Paradise Lodge's reputation as not being very good but was more than willing to assume someone else was too picky. However, my experience is they have terrible customer service. We had made a reservation for 11 for breakfast spending $240.00 for a treat during a multi-day hike on the Rogue. A treat us 4 adults and 7 kids were looking very much forward to on this trip. Upon arriving at the lodge the day before the breakfast, the place was like an oasis in the desert. So happy to have arrived. We went in and purchased 9 cans of pop for $20. Service wasn't too friendly when we asked a few questions; but tried to brush it off. Finished the drinks on the patio then hiked off property to eat lunch. We picked up our mid-trip box kindly dropped off by the jet boats at the lodge dock. We had about a gallon bag of trash plus a box leftover. A nice person from the lodge allowed us to leave those which we appreciated. Until..... Then we were yelled at by one of the staff who came out of the lodge saying we can't leave the (very small amount of ) garbage. We explained that we asked permission and that we were having breakfast in the morning spending a good amount of money. The person wasn't agreeable and stood firm barking at us in front of the kids. So we went and talked to the manager (Bill; we will never forget Bill). We explained to Bill that we asked for permission, we're having breakfast in the morning.... Bill, who also happened to be the unfriendly person who sold us the cans of pop, continued the unfriendly attitude. We discussed our displeasure with the lack of hospitality, lack of assistance when we asked for information and couldn't comprehend the garbage issue. Bill responded with distaste and disrespect towards us and felt like he was accommodating the kids by letting them drink their purchased pop on the patio. After the exchange we requested a refund as neither the adults nor the kids want to ever return. I would nit recommend Paradise Lodge and if you are riding the jet boats, make sure you ride the same boat back that afternoon. Needs new management. read more

Staff more than willing to sell beer and let us consume on deck. Then I asked where the bathroom was and was told there is no public restrooms. I was stunned and asked again stating I had just drunk the beer they sold me. About 5 staff sat there with a deer in the headlights look and repeated no public restroom. I believe this is contrary to Oregon law and that as a paying customer I was no longer the public. Not surprised to see the review about the trash after my experience. Definitely a skip it and try one of the other facilities in the area. read more

After floating the Rogue River and camping for two nights, we arrived at Paradise Lodge for two nights. The deck overlooking the Rogue River welcomed us with a beautiful view and comfortable chairs and tables. We watched bald eagles fly up the river and saw bears come down to the water. Our delicious meals were included and served buffet style. Our room and bathroom were clean and very comfortable. The lights and hot water are powered by a generator, so they are turned off at 10 PM. The staff was very cheerful and efficient while they provided meals and room support. The Lodge also has larger rooms with additional beds and some separate cottages which are available for families. The meadow behind the lodge is beautiful. The hiking trail goes both directions along the Rogue River, so we hiked and were able to see from above where we had floated on our raft. (Besides doing the raft float trip through the wilderness area, guests can arrive by Jet boat in a or hike in on the hiking trail.) We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing day and two nights at the lodge and I would recommend it highly for a luxurious wilderness adventure. read more
