They have a lovely simple breakfast here that I usually really like. 2 eggs, grilled toast, ricotta & house made jam. Simple, straightforward, normally delicious. Today I ordered this and my scrambled eggs were so over salted as to be inedible. It was gross really. Their dining room person came to refill my coffee and I told him this. I imagine Portland, OR is full of restaurants like this. I'm a huge fan of their farm to table concept with extremely fresh ingredients for all the different sandwiches they make. I wanted to try their sandwich of the day which was vegetarian. The sandwich included a lot of yummy ingredients but just didn't capture my attention as much as I wanted it to. The majority of the "meat" was replaced with squash, which went well with the 3 different cheeses and mushrooms. But I found myself still missing meat. I think if they used a different kind of mushroom or just more of the mushroom, it would have balanced the squash out a little more. The foccacia was perfectly toasted but was pretty greasy and was a little off-putting at times. I would give this place another shot because my friend's whole bird sammy looked way better. read more

Stopped here on our road trip through Nebraska. It was the perfect break for weary travelers. The staff was great at advising us what to choose -- I had the Asparagus jam sandwich that was wonderful! Found this place on a whim during a family weekend. Our group was dying for quick food with lots of vegetarian options. Kitchen table knocked it out of the park with their pickle mix, salads, and indulgent PB&J plate. My pesto chicken salad was phenomenal. We were so impressed with the food that we brought more family there the next day. I had a breakfast plate with a homemade biscuit and jam combo that I am still dreaming about. Paid $20 for a meatloaf sandwich with an upgrade from the default side of popcorn to potato hash. Took about 15-20 mins to receive my sandwich and it was a pretty empty/slow time. My meatloaf sandwich was not only tiny but also extremely salty. This was my first meal of the day and I had already waited so long and was starving so I choked it down. Pleasant service and cute enough ambiance but the sandwich was absolutely terrible. The star of the show were the breakfast hash potatoes, huge portion and came out piping hot and well seasoned. This might be my favorite sandwich in Omaha... which is saying a lot because I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert on the loving of sandwiches. The offering I enjoyed today for lunch was entitled "The Whole Bird". Honestly I didn't read the description but what business does a sandwich like this have being on the menu in a restaurant flaunting vegetarian and vegan offerings? Not that I minded... But really this is the antithesis of both of those movements. Chicken with confit chicken cooked in chicken juices, served with crispy chicken skin and a chicken egg. But since I'm neither vegetarian nor vegan, I dug into this sandie with gusto. The bread was fantastic as well. (Good bread makes all the difference in the world!) Whoever cultivated this levain starter is my new hero. And while April's review mentioned too much butter... I apparently think no such thing exists. The popcorn I could take or leave. It's not that I don't like popcorn, but it's never something I crave... If its around, I'll eat it. But i generally prefer popcorn when its hiding M&M's. I did however enjoy the pickle (which first I thought was an apple slice) once I realized my folly, I could've eaten about six more pickles... So I know what to ask for next time. read more

Like so many others who have offered five-star reviews, I think KT has some great food choices. The ham and cheese and fried egg sandwich was a great lunch on a cold day, as was (according to my Favorite Companion) the Reuben. Neither of us liked the deviled eggs (bland), and while my companion liked the tomato soup, I felt it was too highly seasoned. Both of us raved about the chili (very meaty...almost a stew) and the buttermilk biscuits are terrific. A couple of negatives for the owners to consider. We ordered curbside and the website said to call on arrival for food to be brought out. We called both numbers several times and each time we got voice mail. Finally had to go to the door(via an unshoveled and frozen over front sidewalk) to alert the folks inside to our presence. Not good in this time of Covid. Please answer your phones and please shovel and de-ice the sidewalk at your front door. read more

Got stuck in Omaha for a day due to canceled flight and decided to come here for brunch on Sunday. It was raining, which I was told it is rare in the middle of summer. The coffee was great, I got hot coffee because I want the refill-ability of it. It was brunch and you can get everything a la carte but I decided to go all out because first of all, it's $15, and second, everything sounded so good! I love the decor, I love the service, I love the food.... everything was perfect. It was more self serve initially, gotta grab a menu and order at the cash register. I decided to go with the fruit, the brown rice cup, and the strata. The fruit had honey but it's only lightly sweetened, it was very delicious and refreshing! The brown rice was very cute and clever being put in a camping ceramic coated mug. The strata was amazing, I felt bad that I couldn't finish the strata but it was good cold as I took it back to the hotel and ate it as a snack later. Overall I was very impressed and that the atmosphere with the decor made it a really pleasant visit. I don't intend to come back to Omaha, but if I did, this will be a place I come back to visit. Welcome to Seattle! This is the most Pacific Northwest vibe I've yet experienced in Omaha. And that's a good thing. From the vaguely disheveled guys hanging at the outdoor patio to the plants hanging wildly about the walls to the sun-starved wooden indoor space, you may well feel transported. And you'd be glad. Because the bohemian brick inside offers comfort. Because the service exudes warmth and friendliness. Because the food, all of it, is made from scratch onsite (and tastes great). You may have been transported but you'll feel immediately at home. Which makes sense because in addition to being a scratch kitchen it also uses only locally sourced ingredients, so it tastes like home too. The menu can be a bit confusing for first timers and oddly there's no burger on offer for lunch (though sometimes for dinner) but those are minor quibbles. Especially with the deliciousness of the Whole Bird sandwich. Overall it's a great experience. Right here in Omaha. read more

Monkey thankful you cannot see me doing happy dance and flashing(camera flash-Ha!) at table. Grits good too, but all flavors of chops in mouf... So delicious. This place was fantastic. Everyone (even patrons) wore masks when not at the table. Tables are spaced out and cleaned between patrons. Service is great -- warm, friendly, helpful, attentive. Food came super fast and got a few coffee refreshes. Multiple staff members checked in on us throughout the meal. The food. THE FOOD. I got the biscuits and gravy, husband got the breakfast sandwich. Both of us were very happy with our choices. I was concerned the biscuits and gravy would be too heavy (we're going hiking later) but it was worth the risk. Delicious!! Breakfast potatoes were delightful. Atmosphere is lovely. Hip but not hipster. Progressive but not in your face. A genuinely lovely eatery in downtown Omaha. Stopped in as a party of three. We listened to the recommendations and went with 3 fan favorites - the whole bird, the meatloaf, and the meatball sandwich. They are amazing! The homemade cream soda and ginger ale also was spot on. If we had stopped there this would be a 5 star review. Unfortunately, since our meals were so good we decided to get a vegetarian option to go for my daughter at home. We went with the veggie dog sliders, hold the pickle and mustard. After a too-long wait the hostess let us know they were done and they were just keeping them warm in the back. That apparently meant cook them until they were charred to a crisp. And the "hold the pickle and mustard" didn't happen, they were coated in it. It was completely inedible and we ended up throwing the entire thing away and having a sad little vegetarian daughter at home. 1 star for this experience. I might give them a 2nd chance, maybe, if I'm down that way but will definitely stay away from carry-out! read more

There are not enough adjectives to describe Kitchen Table or Colin and Jessica. These two have created a place of passion, connection and love. They have set food standards high and follow though with delicious, creative, HIGH QUALITY food. They are humble and generous people, you can tell by how their staff treats you, Moses is a legend!! Now (during COVID) we are seeing supply chains break down and grocery stores run low at times. It has become apparent to some the importance of supporting local farmers, especially the farmers who really care about food. I personally try to eat organic, whole food with no BS. That is difficult to do daily and knowing that I can go to kitchen table and our values align means the world to me. At KT you may have to pay a little more for a hand crafted sandwich that you LITERALLY can not get anywhere else, but stimulating the local economy is worth it, and again their food is delicious!!! When you put your money into kitchen table it comes back to you. Farmers can continue growing food, continue showing up at farmers markets, also they can hopefully expand and get great local food elsewhere. Colin and Jessica can pay their employees/taxes/rent which all eventually support you and this city. Buying food at other places will not do the same, your money trickles up to the top where some executives will get it who does not care about Omaha or you. Really enjoyed my first visit here. Made it in for lunch around noon and they had some seats available. Loved the rotating menu written on the black board and the staff was great about explaining things. Decor and layout was very welcoming and warm. I had the barley salad and my lunch partner got the meatloaf sandwich. Both great and filling. Loved the unique and splendidly sliced popcorn in the side of the sandwich. I want to give this place 4 stars for the food but the service for a place where their slogan is "good food fast" just doesn't live up to expectations. We waited 20 minutes for our food to arrive, and while my acorn squash soup and sweet potato jam sandwich were delicious, I just don't have that much time to kill waiting for food during a weekday visit for lunch. I love that they serve their sandwiches with a side of seasoned popcorn and my friend ordered the deviled eggs which were definitely different, but delicious. Also, the other reason for three stars instead of four is the price because there isn't a cup of soup option so to get a sandwich and soup gets to be pretty pricey for lunch. Went with a friend for lunch and appreciated the simple, contemporary, and welcoming aesthetic of exposed brick and plants but in a space that's not overtly design oriented; there were small things that stood out like the extension cords running to space heaters.
