Tried this place earlier this week. Absolutely loved it. Great location, better food and friendly staff. My new dinner spot.

Stopped here with the family after finding them on yelp on the way to see the A's beat the Giants at the Coliseum. The place was awesome. We got a friendly greeting when we went inside. The restaurant was clean and beautiful and the food was amazing! And 100% GF. read more

Went for lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed and only 4 stars because I wanted to try the fish tacos and fish and chips. They only have I believe Fridays and Saturdays so I'll be sure to go back for the fish and chips; unable to find a good place for them We had the poke, power salad and chicken nuggets. The nuggets were good but I eat so much chicken I cluck. The poke and salad were delicious!! Fresh tuna was kinda cut small so you had to eat the cubes by itself to taste it. The restaurant is VERY clean and had an airy feeling. I'll be back plus plenty of street FREE parking! read more

The service here was impeccable. The person taking our order was super patient and gave great suggestions :) she took her time with us and made us feel comfortable with what we were ordering! Highly recommend getting the tuna poke bowl it had a great amount if citrus flavor combined with the fish and rice. And definitely get the chicken nuggets! So crispy and lightly breaded :) read more

Ordered from this place via Uber Eats. The order was messy, half the order was wrong and the other half was just missing. I can't speak to the ambiance here but I know eve of the food was warm and correct it wasn't very good. Over priced, poorly packaged, and wrong. No thanks. I can make better food faster and better at home. read more

Oh my goodness as a person with many food allergies, some life threatening, I truly appreciate their fully detailed nutritional ingredients list leaving nothing to guess or worry about. On top of all of that the food was so clean, fresh and absolutely delicious. It has been years since I have had fried chicken and the fried cauliflower was hands down my favorite. The restaurant was very comfortable and the esthetics very relaxing and pleasing. If you struggle to find places to eat out, especially due to dietary restrictions, you will find something yummy here. read more

Took a very celiac friend there and this is legit. No gluten. My friend had the fish and chips and was just over the moon about it. I had the Cuban bowl or plate, whatever, with a dollop of pulled pork. The bowl was like a bento box with all sorts of nice things to nibble on. The plantains could have been cooked a little longer, but they tasted good. The big up side was the excellent service. My friend and I arrived about 15 minutes before opening and figured we'd just sit at the picnic table outside and chat. The waitress popped out to clean the tables and interacted with us immediately, even though she was not on duty yet. It seems like everyone is using QR codes now (God, not another app. ), but because we were there early, the waitress had time to verify on my Android and my friend's iPhone that QR was a no-go. So, she brought out her ipad and took our orders. (The reason for the QR code and ordering through your phone is that they are COVIDly short staffed for now. Other places are doing this, too, so if you are not QR enabled, get the menu off their web page) BTW - we got a flight of beers and the waitress was really good about recommendations. read more

Definitely delicious!!! The food was clean! My favorite was the watermelon salad so freshing!

Phenomenal- every aspect of my experience here. The food was very well portioned and felt so healthy. Flavors of everything were excellent. Great lighting, clean, live plants, friendly and playful staff, reasonable prices. Ice cream is the best ice cream I've had in a long time, possibly ever. Easily accommodating for so many allergies. Family friendly but could also has the right atmosphere to bring a date. There was also some outdoor seating and a dog water bowl- dog friendly outside! So stoked that this place is here. They also have some of my favorite gluten free hard ciders/kombuchas. Kale salad side was so juicy. read more

I've seen this spot in SF before, but never had a chance to try it before lockdown. I was excited to see a location open in Oakland, as it's always great to have more healthy options nearby. My boyfriend and I decided to try this out for dinner last night - we both ordered the cuban bowl (one with jasmine rice, one with the turmeric cauli rice), and a side of the brussel sprouts. It was ready in about 10-15 minutes after we placed the order via DoorDash. The bowl was a pretty good bang for your big - a big serving of the rice, beans in some kind of green and sweetish sauce, sweet plantains, and a kale slaw with avocado on top. I thought everything tasted pretty solid for the most part - the plantains were cooked really nicely and so yummy, the rice was interesting and pretty good overall, the beans were delightful and the slaw was maybe my favorite part, seasoned with a really nice dressing. I think that some things tasted a little under salted, but I think that comes with the territory of having a healthy option and I was happy to add it on for myself. I was pleased to still have enough leftover for another meal today :) The brussel sprouts were also really great, cooked perfectly, and the smokey chipotle aioli was great (and so good with the plantains as well!). This wasn't quite as big of a portion for the cost, but we both ate all of them and really enjoyed them. I may try some other options next time or just stick to the sides to get extra slaw, but highly recommend for a solid healthy option with a good variety! read more

Kitava - cuban bowl with cauli rice! - New American Near Me - Oakland, California

mediocre and not worth quite what they charge. I visited Kitava before a concert last week as I was impressed by their great reviews. Definitely had alot better- I think the reviews are high because there is not much in this area albeit up and coming. for one, as a grain or base you only get one choice- white rice...a little sticky and a little warm. I got the ahi tuna bowl and there was a good amount of tuna on it but the tuna was easily 2-3 days old- not off entirely but very fishy. The cauliflower fritters were great, the dressings and sauces good- but overall I have been to similar bowl places that were much much better...would not go here again. read more

Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a dining spot with others that you may not know if they have any dietary restrictions/allergies. For me, finding tasty dairy-free non-vegan options isn't always easy...their Power Bowl with a side of Beef Barbacoa is a winner! read more

Why is this so amazing? So i first heard of this place when i went with my friend to pick up her Cuban bowl. Not only did it look delicious but the people there were so nice. Fast forward i came here with my vegetarian friend. We got the Cuban bowl, the Power Bowl and then brussel sprouts. For dine-in, there's both indoor and outdoor options and you order directly from a QR code. My phone or the app was acting up, so that was a little annoying. It took about 10 min to order But once we ordered, the food came super quick and it was AMAZING. And........ The brussel sprouts is competely worth it. read more

Ok food, a little pricey, poor options for coffee drinkers. (No cream or sugar, no espresso drink options) This makes breakfast a non starter. read more

Amazing. Great bowls and salads and vegan options. Definitely will return. Get the Brussels sprouts!!

We headed to Kitava today and are so glad we did! What an amazing place for my son who is gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free. He had choices and could pick anything from the menu. He picked the burger and fries and so did I and we both ate every bit. My husband enjoyed the tacos and a beer. The service was top notch, friendly and efficient. We sat inside, ordered on our phones and played a have while we waited. They have a bunch of board games to choose from on a shelf. The food came quickly. We noticed that people sat outside with their dogs. Though it was a bit chilly for us to do that tonight, we would totally consider coming back with our dog in tow! Parking was easy at the time we went. We would come back for sure and are looking forward to heading to Kitava in San Francisco in just near future. read more

I order from here quite often and there are issues with unsweetened plantains sometimes and that's okay but today I ordered through DoorDash and half the meal was missing. I ordered the Cuban bowl and the beans were missing!!! I got so excited to dig in and found out that the order was nor complete. I'm disappointed. If they ran out, I should have been contacted or a note left on my order. There was no one to contact on the issue either. read more

The food here is so fire. Really great vegan options as well! The romesco sauce with the mushrooms are a 10/10.

I ordered for lunch pick up as this place just opened and I live a few blocks away. It took maybe 20 minutes until it was ready for pickup. So not bad considering lunch rushes. I'm sure it's faster if you order in person. The food was yummy and a good price for the size of the bowl. I'll be back!!! I'll try and eat there if I can next. The seating looked nice. read more

Don't be put off by the slightly pretentious sounding menu - food is delicious, beautiful & fairly priced for the obvious quality. We had the evolved caesar salad, fries, pokè bowl & the dark chocolate non-dairy ice cream. Highly recommend all! Only reason not 5 stars is the noise level ... chairs made a horrific screech on the floor & were oddly top heavy & tipped easily. 5 stars for the food & service! read more
