BYO Bowl

There isn't much that needs to be said about kitava besides "I'm obsessed"! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and experience at kitava. The restaurant itself is super cute, and the ordering process is a breeze. The staff were super friendly, and the food came out quickly. I love a good self-serve water station, and they get extra points for having a delicious cucumber water! I was so impressed by the freshness and quality of the food, especially since everything was gluten free. My boyfriend and I both chose the "build your own bowl" option. In my bowl, I chose: - cauliflower rice - crispy chicken - charred broccoli - brussels sprouts - ponzu ginger sauce First of all, my bowl was phenomenal. Every single element was delicious and flavorful. I highly recommend everything I got. It was my perfect bowl! My boyfriend chose: - jasmine rice - paprika chicken - charred broccoli - chimichurri mushrooms - pickled onions - jalapeño lime dressing His bowl was also so delicious. I thought that the chicken tasted like a better, higher quality chipotle chicken. The ingredients were so fresh tasting, and the jalapeño lime dressing was so good. I also wanted to give their desserts a try, so we went with the dark chocolate chip cookie. This was the most "gluten free" tasting thing out of everything we got. The texture of the cookie was unlike normal cookies, but that didn't bother us much. The cookie itself was more on the "less-sweet" side, and was packed with rich dark chocolate. While not exactly my thing, it's worth a try for true dark chocolate lovers! Overall, I was so impressed by kitava. It is the perfect option when you want something healthy and fresh, but do not want to sacrifice flavor. I was absolutely be back!

Delicious and flavorful, one of My favorite bowl places. I love the whole Folds, clean ingredients, low Processed foods. I especially love that they don't use dairy or seed oils in their dressings. I often get all veggie bowls and they are super filling. Much of the menu is also Daniel Fast- friendly

Wish there were more places like this where healthy foods just taste so good ! Everything on the menu was tempting- order at the kiosk and they bring it to you . Otherwise it- grab your own utensils water and bus your own plates. We started with their chicken and wild rice soup that also came with mushrooms in a "immunity" broth - it was so savory and warming. This is what I would want the next time I get a cold ! I love all the bowls and salad options. You can't even build your own bowlsz The plantain bowl was delicious and came with beans and a refreshing kale slaw . I couldn't decide between some of the chicken bowls and we ended up getting the Sesame Chicken, which is lightly battered and crispy. It's also hard to decide between all the fun sides they have. Eggplant is my fave , and is like not on menus enough, so I appreciated that ! We also have their cauliflower and hummus side - cauliflower was perfectly cooked, being lightly crisped. They have coffee (but no espresso drinks), beer and juice and also kombucha on tap. The kombucha tap comes in a number of flavors and we enjoy the strawberry one . The interior is also very modern and welcoming !! I'll need to check out their sister site next time. I'm in the Mission !

The service was quick, and you can really taste how fresh the ingredients are. I also loved how clean the space was and it reflects in quality and care that goes into the food. On days when I don't feel like cooking but also don't want something heavy or greasy, this is the perfect spot.

My best friend and I came to Kitava for lunch after taking a top rope class at Great Western Power Company. It was very evident that the dishes live up to the restaurant's health-focused marketing. My sesame chicken bowl was pretty light despite the chicken being fried. At most places the chicken would be extra salty but not here. The chicken was actually so mild, it needed the sauce to carry it, and the bowl overall was well-balanced with vegetables, protein, and carbs. I also got a side of crispy cauliflower (not pictured) to share, and it was the best item here. It was perfectly crispy and well-seasoned.

Dining in, the food is fantastic. Bowls are delicious and healthy, service is also good, ambiance is Oakland nice. I'd have dinner with friends or family here or even a date night.

My friends and I stopped by Kativa in Oakland, and I'm so glad we did. I went with the build-your-own bowl, crispy chicken, cauliflower rice, sweet potatoes, and brussels sprouts and it was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned, and I loved that I could customize it exactly how I wanted. The space has a really welcoming vibe with its modern, clean design and friendly staff. You can tell they care about quality ingredients and creating food that's both healthy and satisfying. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Met a friend for dinner and she suggested this place. I was familiar with the area, but never heard of Kitava before. The menu sounded healthy and contained a number of items I enjoy so I was keen to give it a try. I thought parking would be difficult, but it actually was not too bad for a Tuesday evening. And the streets were not terribly busy. It has a corner location which is great and the place is full of windows. Near the entrance are 2 small tables to enjoy a meal in the nice weather we had today. While not a huge place, it felt very open and had ample seating. You place your order and then seat yourself. They do quite a bit of take out, so that was a great sign. I ordered the plantains, brussel sprouts, and their chicken. They infused their water with fruit so I was happy to have that. We sat in the front corner to enjoy the wonderful windows and views outside. Each of my dishes came with their own sauces. And like many people have already mentioned, I liked the ketchup as well. I was very pleased with each of my little dishes. It was the perfect meal. I got my fiber, protein and carbs and I didn't feel guilty eating any of it. I can't wait to come back and try out the rest of the menu.

Came across this place as a Yelp suggestion and decided to have a lunch meeting here. I'm so happy I found this place! It's literally the best place for delicious food, but great lighting and seating options. I had the sweet plantain bowl and added paprika chicken, plus a side of the cauliflower bites. The cauliflower was perfectly crispy. Though it didn't have a sauce on them, they were perfectly seasoned. The dipping sauce was so yummy too! I wanted a bottle of it to take home. My bowl is perfectly balanced, perfectly seasoned and great portion size. My colleague enjoyed her food as well, the only down side to her meal was that it took a bit longer to make but the woman who took our order didn't give us a heads up. I can't remember the name of the dish, but it's something they should either note on the menu or disclose when people are ordering. Other than that, this place is a winner! Food rating Sweet plantain bowl 10/10 Cauliflower bites 10/10 Customer service 8/10 Ambiance 9/10

Everything was going good until it didn't... blonde hair was in my bowl. was recommended by my coworker. Won't be eating here again.

Tuesday's kids eat free which is nice. Their fries are good too and the ketchup doesn't have a lot of sugar. Service is always nice and they are good about keeping it clean. We like their build your own bowl options. The kids always poach our tuna poke. The plantains are really good also. Nice place to eat healthy without breaking the bank. Kids like the food here too.

Boy, have we been missing out! What a wonderful surprise. The board comes with plenty of beautifully browned toast, but don't hesitate to ask for more. You'll need it to enjoy every last bit. We enjoyed it so much that we've decided to make one more visit before Wood closes at the end of December. We're really going to miss Wood Tavern. The restaurant space is well-lit, has plenty of indoor seating and seems suitable for a date or casual get-together with friends. My partner would give the food a five-start rating for its simplicity, generally flavorful, with spicy sauces and THE BEST guacamole! He had the Korean spare ribs and mash potatoes. He found the ribs to be fall-off-the bone tender, with potatoes that were more whipped than mashed alongside a carrot puree. I, on the other hand, had the New York Steak and au gratin potatoes. Though I wanted to enjoy my entree, I found the New York Steak to be unfortunately chewy and with too much fat. The au gratin potatoes could have had more crispy layers but tasted mediocre. Though I'd only rate this first experience with three stars. the service staff DID win us over and could potentially be the reason I'd be open to giving it another try.

I looked for fun sporadically a couple of times in the past, never at the scheduled noon releases 6 weeks prior to the dot. However, I somehow lucked out and managed to snag a reservation whilst looking on a random afternoon a month out. Parking is pretty easy as there's plenty of street parking. We got a spot right outside the restaurant and got seated at a 2-top by the window. Tasting menu was $180/person but I think that it changes month to month. I think November is $216/person. We also opted for beverage pairings, $125 for the alcoholic pairing and $65 for non-alcoholic. It seemed like the pours for the wines were a bit stingy, whereas they were more generous with my non-alcoholic options. Sarah and Alan seem very down to earth and their enthusiasm for their craft is apparent. Some of the plates reminded me of dishes I grew up eating, but with a fancier twist on it, although the flavors were spot-on. We were celebrating our anniversary and were given complimentary olive oil cakes in addition to the plethora of sweets to round out the night. They also accommodated my husband's aversion of persimmons. The man won't even eat anything that comes in contact with a persimmon, and we mentioned it last minute as we didn't realize persimmons would be featured on the menu. Staff were very gracious about it though. As a parting gift, we were presented with two mini loaves of ginger molasses cakes to enjoy the next morning. I love it when restaurants do this, as it feels like an extension of the experience to look forward to the following day. The only things that felt a little off was the inconsistency in changing silverware. Sometimes they left used utensils and sometimes they cleared it. If you obviously used it, and left it on the plate, then they would clear. I didn't have an issue, as I was taught to not let used silverware touch the table again, but my husband is hit or miss on etiquette. I figured perhaps it's just a bit difficult to tell if someone has used the settings or not. I left dinner uncomfortably full and my only regret is not asking them to box up the passionfruit cheesecake to go. It was my own fault for getting a drink pairing though, as I think the liquids just took up too much space in my stomach. Would love to return in the future for other celebrations or as Alan said about the last dish of the night, just for fun.

Excellent. Attentive, warm, and full of thoughtful recommendations. We joked afterward that we'd somehow met nearly everyone who works there over the course of the evening. Not sure if this is part of the hospitality model, but we certainly felt well looked after. The food is hyper-seasonal, creative, and clearly the product of people who spend a lot of time thinking about ingredients. We started with the fig salad with smoked fig vinaigrette, and this was the star of the table for me. Just exceptional. Now, because we were dining with Midwestern parents, our ordering was perhaps a little more conservative than my usual approach. Carbohydrates were well represented. Let's leave it at that. Still, I was thoroughly impressed. Everyone loved the ugly mushrooms. I suspect this is the current must-order dish on the menu. What a stunner. Not sure who decided to call them ugly, but I think the mushrooms are doing just fine for themselves. I also loved the pacing of the meal. It reminded me of some of my favorite dining experiences in Spain, where dinner is an actual event and nobody seems particularly concerned with getting you out the door. Courses arrived at a lovely rhythm, giving us time to enjoy everything and, more importantly, each other's company. I was pleased that the Midwestern contingent appreciated this approach as well. For the grand finale, we ordered four of the six desserts. Apparently we'd decided to make up for our earlier lack of culinary adventurousness. One was a blueberry ice cream sundae with corn and a very tart crème anglaise-style sauce. I did not enjoy this one. Not even a little. But I appreciated the ambition, and I'll always give a restaurant credit for trying something interesting rather than serving another predictable chocolate dessert. All in all, a fantastic birthday dinner. Pomet strikes a balance of thoughtful, inventive cooking and genuinely warm hospitality. We've been talking about the meal for days, which is usually a good sign. Highly recommend for a special occasion. And perhaps bring a few adventurous eaters. Or Midwestern parents. Isa was a lovely server, she attended to our needs and answered our questions with great energy, politeness, and was informative. It was a great pleasure having her as our hostess! The food was delicious, my family ordered an array of things and it seemed like everyone was satisfied since there were no leftovers by the end of it! I got to sample all of the food except for the soup of the day and they were all delicious!! One thing I didn't get to take a picture of was the polenta and it was AMAZING !! :) The ambiance was busy since this place is pretty popular it seems! The decor fits the theme of the restaurant well and I appreciate the extra seats available outside the establishment! :)
