The absolute best breakfast burrito I ever had!!! At first glance, it looks simple, but when you bite into it, it is bursting with flavor and love. I highly recommend adding sausage to it, and if you can, get their chipotle aioli on the side! Their chia seed overnight oats was incredible as well. Healthy and hearty! The best thing about this place is the people! Everyone was soooo nice and enthusiastic and seemed genuinely pleased to be doing what they are doing. They made good recommendations and were actually curious how we liked our meals. The food was good (Avocado Toast and Breakfast Burrito) and they made scrambled eggs from scratch. What a cute little restaurant! We wanted to meet halfway between Kensington and Piedmont, and Ashby eatery was a 15 min drive for both of us. You order at the counter and bring water, glasses, and silverware to your table. We loved how the placards that came with the orders have names of streets in Berkeley. We had a breakfast burrito, avocado, and fish toast. Breakfast burrito was tasty and filling. The staff was appreciative of our business. No line or long wait for our food to arrive. Parking was easy to find on the nearby streets. Would come back and suggested to friends that we go there next weekend for brunch! read more

Came here to say when I was having a bad day and the kindness of the staff and overall vibes of the eatery definitely lifted my spirits! The inside is small, you order at the counter and can take away or sit in their outdoor area. In good weather it's very pleasant and dogs are allowed. Fun spot, very cottage-core, on an unassuming street. Food takes a little long to come out, but I could tell it was high quality + they make their chips in house. They did also let me know they were understaffed at the time and checked in on me during my wait. Happy to come back and try more menu items, but I believe they're only open a few days a week so make sure to check their schedule before stopping by. read more

I was invited to lunch with a retiring colleague to Ashby Eatery. He found the reviews here and decided we should give it a shot. WOW, what a great first impression. Imagine if you will, stepping into a quaint eatery with workers all abuzz but yet so friendly you automatically feel welcome and relaxed. The staff were so kind and happy. I had the tri-tip on a baguette that was simply heaven. Tender, juicy, tasty and filling. Homemade chips and quick service.....what more can you ask for. Look, we all have hundreds of places we can spend an arm and a leg for a mediocre meal these days with terrible wait staff and overpriced food. Bag all of that and try out this place. Delicious and chill with excellent service! I came in around 9:00 am on a Saturday, and it was not busy at all. It's a small café, but there's lots of extra seating outside (though there isn't a ton of shade). I got the biscuit breakfast sandwich, and it was huge!
