LOVE going to this little place. Parking can be full, especially on a weekend, but, once you're able to sit down and enjoy the service, food, and company you're with - you won't regret going here. Stopped by on a Sunday morning before dropping off my son at SFO. We were pressed for time so I joined the waitlist in advance which had a 11 min wait, but when I checked in 10 mins later I was told the wait time was 20 mins which was disappointing. Probably my new favorite spot for fluffy buttermilk pancakes! I added bananas to mine and it was absolutely to die for. I also ordered a side of chicken apple sausage and an OJ -- everything hit the spot. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of space, which I really appreciated. The Doyle St., Café. It's in the industrial area of Emeryville. On a busy Sunday at brunch time you'll have to park about a block away. The area is safe and it's a little hidden. The prices here are high. The selection of foods is ample, and includes delicious sandwiches and hamburgers . On the weekend this place gets very hectic. It's not uncommon to have to put your name on the waitlist and hang out out front for 10 to 20 minutes. The waiters here are decent but appear to be covering a lot of tables so they are a bit hurried. Last time I went here I waited quite a long time for a refill on my iced tea. DELICIOUS! Came here on a Monday morning with my sister to grab breakfast. We were seated right away by friendly staff. Their kitchen was able to accommodate adding black beans to my omelette which was delicious. The cornbread was yummy too, a little dry but a good cinnamon, nutmeg flavor. Thinly sliced, crispy, seasoned. I'll be dreaming about these potatoes the next time I have hash browns. Corned beef hash was hefty. Perfectly poached eggs, solid cornbread. We stopped in for a post gym brunch, and despite how busy they were, my wife and I were able to sit immediately. Coffee was hot, fresh, and delicious. The breakfast potatoes are also great, and their cornbread seems like a hybrid with banana bread. What a solid breakfast/lunch! And filling too! I thoroughly enjoyed my omelette with the addition of the chicken chorizo and the peppers & onions. It was hearty and I absolutely loved my potatoes. Something about the thin combo of soft and crispy bits, I was in heaven. My Americano was pulled perfectly - not a hit of sour but balanced and strong. My partner's meal was the huevos rancheros and low key was jealous of that because those beans were cooked perfectly. My only critiques are that the English muffin had a slightly papery exterior (but it was delicious and I'm splitting hairs here) and may e I would have liked our crab cakes (not pictured) to be slightly larger. Came in for a quick decaffeinated drink and was greeted by Eric who made an amazing decaf mocha. He mentioned this cafe has been in business for 36 years. Wow!!! Can't say that I was blown away by my brunch at Doyle Street because... I just wasn't. Nothing about this meal stood out above the rest. But what I can say is that it's a solid spot for breakfast or brunch if you're in the area and willing to wait. Dropped by for brunch after finishing up some work nearby. First things first; parking is hard and street only. This place is located on a random street in Emeryville that you might miss if you blink. Parking is very limited. I found a spot in the residential neighborhood nearby and walked down to the entrance. They have a patio parklet in front that seems to be pretty popular with the crowd. I came solo on this day but still had a short wait for a table. Inside is open and airy with lots of tables that are within close proximity of each other. The place was booming on a Saturday morning. When my table was ready, I was sat and given a menu. Prices seem on the higher side for a local brunch, but what isn't high priced these days?! I opted for the California eggs benedict (crab cake benedict) and a chai latte. The food took a while to arrive but I just shucked it up to it being a busy Saturday. The crab cake benedict was decent. The English muffin was nice and fluffy and the crab cake tasted fine, but they didn't put much hollandaise sauce on top, so it ended up tasting a tad bit dry. The eggs weren't over poached, but they weren't yolky when I cut into them. It was somewhere between poached and over poached if that makes sense. The chai latte was pretty good but I was missing those spices. Some people prefer a weaker chai tea, so maybe that's the reason for the lack of chai spice. It was still good for a milder blend. After I finished, it took forever for my server to come back to my table. Even after I asked for the check, it took a while for him to bring it back. I'd say, bring your patience. I'm guessing they're used to folks lingering here for a while. In any event, it wasn't a bad experience but it also wasn't anything memorable. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back, but it definitely wouldn't be my first choice pick for brunch. read more

1st time here!!! My wife found it via Google. It had many great reviews so she chose it. We came for brunch with the Mrs. at 12 p.m. yesterday and we were immediately seated. However, you can add your name to the Yelp wailist via the Yelp app. They also have a standalone parking lot ( Not too big, but decent) and a few parking spots right next for in another small parking lot. There is street parking as well. They most def had a crowd when we walked in. However, the place had inside seating and covered outside seating. Plenty of seats for all types of party sizes. Our orders were taken in a very timely manner. Food and drinks were brought out with that same manner. I had a hot chocolate with oat milk and she had a latte. Both were so good. No complaints at all All the food was hot and exactly how we wanted it to be. I am very very very picky about everything I eat and I want my food exactly how I ask for it. In particular, I wanted my bacon crispy and not burnt, per usual. Well... they did not disappoint. Delicious bacon, tasty cheesy eggs and fluffy pancakes to die for. My wife had overeasy eggs, bacon and the French toast. She said that the French toast tasted as if it had rum in it. Honestly, I tasted it and it low key did taste like it did..lol. To finish this all of, we both had a Bellini and it was served in a wine glass and I thought that was distant because most times it is served in a flute glass. Small thing to notice, but still a notice indeed. My wife stated that the restaurant has contributed alot to the community because of all the plaques and pictures that were around. You can tell that they care about the people that they serve and the community members. We both throughly enjoyed our time here and most certainly will be going back. My latest brunch at Doyle Street Cafe left me with a pretty bad experience. My friends and I sat stopped by around 9:00 a.m. and there was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. News to me, but if you're driving, the gated lot across the street is actually Doyle Street Cafe's dedicated parking lot. However, it's not a big lot -- fitting twenty or so cars, so not everyone dining in the restaurant will have parking there. Within two minutes of sitting down and receiving the menu, our waiter stopped by to take our order. I get speedy service is good, but please allow your guests to have some time to greet their friends, process the menu, and decide their orders. I also specifically, really disliked the bearded male server that was assigned to our table. This individual gave us the nastiest look when taking our order. If you're having a bad day, please call in and request the day off! In the food and beverage world, right alongside with the hospitality industry, would it kill you to be kind to your guests? Throughout our meal, our sever never stopped by to check on us, never topped off my empty coffee, and when the check arrived, he made aggressive eye contact the whole time while holding the credit card device, effectively guilt tripping you to tip with one of the high defaults. The value here is also quite terrible. If you order French toast, a few cut up strawberries and blueberries are a $6 add-on and two eggs are $7. I get eggs are expensive but $7 is absolutely pushing it. After tax and tip, for our party of four, our meal came out to around $90. In my opinion, that's far too expensive for four coffees (three of which were espresso drinks), two entrees - which were split between the couple, and a side of eggs and crab cakes. I left hungry after our meal and wasn't planning on spending any more money at this establishment. This awful experience makes Doyle Street Cafe a strong skip in my book for American style brunch. I recommend taking your business elsewhere, as there are plenty of other restaurants in Emeryville -- and nearby in Berkeley and Oakland, that offer far better brunch experiences. read more
