Honestly, quite disappointed as I expected something so much more based on the reviews on here. It was ok, but not wow. We came on a Friday evening and it felt somewhat dark inside. Not atmospheric dark, just kinda moody so the decor didn't look as extravagant as it does in the photos when they're brightly lit. We did the tasting menu and again, I can't say I was wowed by the food. Some dishes were ok, some were not so. The server we had was sweet but she didn't really know the food as well as we had expected her to. Shame really as I had high hopes for the place. I would recommend this as a casual place to dine. Maybe we would have been better off with choosing dishes from the menu. read more

Kiin - Thai Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

Came here once for brunch a few years ago and I still think about that meal to this day. I've been wanting to come back to try dinner and now that I did I can say without a doubt that this is one of the most delicious meals I've eaten in Toronto. The atmosphere is so relaxed and the ambiance is like a romantic candlelit dinner but don't be fooled, this place is all about QUALITY and get ready to take your taste buds on a journey of sensual flavours! Each dish takes you on a different playful experience where you will taste sweet, sour, umami and spicy notes. The royal dumpling platter includes savory and sweet dumplings, each one playing to different flavour profiles but coming together to create a coherent, wholesome dish. We had the pork jowl, which we definitely recommend. The pork is perfectly seasoned and it is sweet, salty and sour. You don't need any dipping sauces. They recommend you eat a piece of meat and then alternate with the pieces of kale but I recommend wrapping the meat in the kale and eating it like lettuce wraps, you will not be disappointed! The beef short rib is in a delicious curry characteristic of Southeast Asia. This was something that hit nostalgia as we have a similar Vietnamese dish. The coconut and turmeric in the curry has some sweet and spicy notes. The beef was perfectly cooked, succulent and fall off the bone. I recommend getting it with roti, it was deep fried and a perfect vehicle to soak up the curry! To finish off the meal, the dessert roti was recommended to us but we were eyeing it from the beginning. Oily fried roti drenched in condense milk, this is a flavour combination everyone needs to try! It would be perfect if there was some fresh fruit but still a great way to end off the meal! read more

Kiin offers delicious Thai food, but many of which I have not seen at other Thai restaurants. The restaurant has great decor - lots of plants, a cute marble tile floor, gold accents, etc. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We ordered pandan iced tea, roy thai (an assortment of dumplings), khao yum (a rice salad), gaeng boombai (beef short rib in tamarind sauce), ice cream with an assortment of fruit toppings (such as jackfruit, palm seeds, coconut), and condensed milk roti. I enjoyed trying the various dumplings in the roy thai, but my favourite was the chor ladda which is the blue dumpling made with butterfly pea flour, which gives it its colour, and is filled with a peanut and coconut filling. The khao yum was also very interesting with lots of different herbs and colourful rice. The presentation of the khao yum in a large golden bowl was very instagram worthy. The beef short rib was delicious and very tender, and the sauce was amazing with roti. The desserts were good, but in my opinion, not as special as the appetizers and mains. Lastly, the service was excellent. We were fifteen minutes late for our reservation, which would usually mean we would lose our reservation. But we called in and they were very accommodating. They also took the time to explain each dish, which I really value and find interesting. They also brought us the condensed milk roti dessert compliments of the management as we were celebrating a birthday. Thank you Kiin! read more

Stopped by for a quick but delicious dinner at @kiintoronto The "Royal Thai" handcrafted dumplings are their speciality! They were a great mix of sweet and savoury with authentic tropical flavours (must try if you dine here!) The seabream roasted in banana leaf, was served with lettuce wraps and Thai veggies and herbs. Was very light yet flavourful And the short rib curry was delicious, so tender it fell off the bone! And complemented the crispy naan. Great spot for innovative, modern and not-so-traditional Thai eats! read more

I visited Kiin's lunch service on a Wednesday. I was able to get a seat at the bar without wait. The menu is pretty simple; you build your own noodle soup, or pick among the rice dishes. I ordered a Ma Naew (spicy, sour and peanut soup) with Sen Buk, BBQ pork. The service was friendly and the waitress gave me some good recommendation. It was a little wait for my noodle soup to arrive, but I could tell the reason because they made the soup and noodle fresh. The wait was totally worth it because the Ma Naew soup was very aromatic and well balanced between the spicy and sour flavourful. I drank it all at the end. The BBQ pork was tender and juicy. The lady next to me ordered the Yen Tao Fo with Sen Yai (flat rice noodle) was so aromatic and looked very tasty. I will order it next time. In conclusion, Chef Nuit never disappoints. Although the price point ($14) is a little high for a bowl of noodle soup, the quality is worth that price point. And the restaurant decor is so beautiful and classy. It will be a perfect for lunch / dinner dates. read more

Honestly, I was underwhelmed. I can't understand how this place got a spot on Canada's top 100. Over-priced. Mediocre. Lobster pad Thai - if you're going to serve a whole lobster at least provide the proper tools to crack open the shell so you're not trying to use your fingers or a fork - otherwise you're forced to leave a lot of that sweet lobster meat go to waste. Noodles were ok. $60 Grilled sea bream - this was the most pathetic dish. The fish itself was unseasoned and overcooked. I did not enjoy all of the components once they were put together - you have to take a bit of all the different elements and wrap it in a gem lettuce leave - so basically $60 for lettuce wraps. Tried their signature drink - the Pina quemada. Much ado about nothin' I'm afraid. Blah. Save your $26. Was going to order some apps until I looked over at another table. $9 for 2 fried wonton purses! There's a little bit of chicken and shrimp inside - not gold! read more

If you're a Thai Food lover, you would be familiar with the husband and wife team Chef Nuit & Jeff Regular's empire of Thai restaurants in downtown Toronto namely Sukhothai, Pai, Sabai Sabai and the new restaurant Kiin. Kiin which means 'eat' in Thai occupies where Khao San Road is situated before. Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted in Thai by a very nice and friendly host. You can already tell this is no ordinary Thai restaurant judging by how the interior looks. The place itself is so lush and gorgeous with marbled floors, glass shutters and gold accents everywhere. It also looks more spacious as compared to when it was Khao San Road. The lunch menu is very limited which consist only of three choices in different categories such as Snack, Soup, Salad, Rice, Noodle, Curry. I decided to try a noodle dish, Pad See Ew to see if they taste authentic - and damn right it is! They got it right with the sauce, perfect balance of salty and sour. It has also has a wonderful chargrilled flavour from a result of continuous high heat cooking. And the Sen Yai noodles - so fresh and chewy. I just wish they would give you more of the noodles as the dish has more veggies and chicken than noodles. My SO ordered the Tom Yum Gai with Konjac Noodles. Konjac Noodles if you're not familiar is also known as the 'Wonder Noodle' because it has no starch so it's no fat, low carb, low cal and gluten free. Be warned that they don't ask you for the spiciness level and it is a little bit spicy. But boy it was good! The broth has all the exotic Thai flavours and the chicken was so tender. This is comparable or even better to the Thai street foods we ate in Bangkok. If you also like Pandan, you should try their Pandan Ice Tea. It's not sweet but with the addition of pandan leaves, this drink is so fragrant and I really enjoyed it. Although it's pricier compared to other Thai resto, the portions are huge and they don't skimp on the ingredients. Plus if you want quality food, the price doesn't really matter. Once again, the Regular's have proven that when it comes to authentic Thai food nothing beats them. You don't even have to travel to Thailand to eat authentic Thai food since Toronto has the best Thai restaurants! I will surely come back here to try their dinner menu and also to recommend this restaurant to friends and families. read more

It's cool to see the transformation of the space from Khao San Road to have more of a light and royal concept in Kiin. Chef Nuit Regular, her husband Jeff, and the Kiin staff are so friendly and welcoming. I had such a great time at Kiin. I liked these dishes: Yum Tua Plu ($15) - wing beans Khao Yum ($24) - red thai rice, tamarind yellow, and butterfly powder green Great for veggie lovers Mieng Pia ($32)- kale, gem lettuce, pomelo, vermicelli, thai finger haw, salted coriander, mint, peanut, and thai basil Pandan Iced Tea and the hand-made chips (taro, beet, sweet potato seasoned with lime and tom yum powder) are amazing and a must-try! I have a mild peanut allergy so be careful when choosing dishes on the menu! I had a delightful time here despite that and would come back for the chips read more

We did the tasting menu and wine pairing and it is a very worthy experience. The food was all excellent, exceptional. Our server went above and beyond. The timing was a bit off. Sure you sign up for the experience but 3.5 hours is a long seating. Star is lost for the wine pairing. The server made it seem these were thoughtful choices and I appreciate that, but sadly - these just weren't good wines. It is a fantastic experience and I do recommend! read more

There's a relatively uncharted niche of Thai cuisine that's landed in Toronto by way of Kiin--Royal Thai. Royal Thai is just what it sounds like. It's opulent. It's elevated. And most importantly, it's delicious. Kiin, meaning "eat" in Thai, is a partnership between Jeff Regular and Nuit Regular, the husband and wife team behind Toronto's rapidly expanding Thai empire (Pai, Sabai Sabai, Sukhothai), and Janet Zuccarini (Gusto 101, Trattoria Nervosa, Pai). Nuit Regular was raised in Thailand and always dreamed of opening a restaurant where she could share her love of this opulent and less common form of Thai cuisine with others. Through Kiin's menu, she has elevated the Thai staples we have come to know (think: satays, Pad Thai, curries) in an intimate lower-level space that is more mature and refined that its sister restaurants. Kiin incorporates familiar flavours of traditional Thai cuisine (lemongrass, kaffir lime, coconut, coriander) and even imports nearly all of its ingredients from Thailand to perfect the flavour profile of each dish. Unlike some of the Regular's other restaurants, Thai street food is absent from this menu. Kiin has a sharable, interactive menu that showcases food fit for a king (or a queen in my case...). It's a curation of Royal Thai favourites as well as dishes from Nuit's childhood. I had the pleasure of meeting the Regulars while I was dining there one evening. For owning a mini empire of restaurants, the couple is humble, gracious and hospitable. Nuit shared a story about how the yum tua plu (wing bean salad) was once a secret recipe that was exclusive to the Thai royal family's staff. She spent several years in culinary school to learn more about her native cuisine and honed the recipes that are now being enjoyed at Kiin. My guest and I put all of our decisions in the hands of our lovely server, who seemed to have another gig as an actress. Her storytelling was on point and she described each dish with detail as it was presented to us. There were far more standouts than mishaps. read more

Ok so this place was something I was looking forward to all week! The food presentation and combinations were amazing and delicious. The bartender made the best drinks with lovely combos and yet more great presentation. I would 100000% recommend going here. It ls a small restaurant so be sure to make a reservation, if you get there early they may not have seating for you and the only fall back was the hostess wasn't trained properly - we waited over 25 mins to be seated when there were empty tables. This place is not your average Thai menu, it's authentic and the chefs story is so inspirational. read more

We came here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed. We had a reservation therefore we were seated immediately. Similar to the old khao san road set up, there's a dining area and a bar. The interior is pretty and instagrammable. Kiin is brought to you by the same people behind Pai but the dishes served here are unique in Toronto. They are inspired by the northern Thai cuisine and you can't find any curry or pad thai on the menu. Our server suggested ordering three to five small dishes and two to three large dishes for the three of us as the dishes are meant for sharing. My favourite was the royal Thai platter. It came with four different dumplings. The flavours were unique and they were almost too pretty to eat. My personal favourite was the purple one with jasmine rice filling. Highly recommended! We also tried the grilled pork jowl with kale stalks, khao yum jasmine rice, and the chicken stir fry. Everything tasted good and but the khao yum was a little too spicy (even my native Thai friend found it too spicy). Overall, great food and great service. Will come back to try other dishes and their lunch menu. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect as my only exposure to Thai food are the typical Pad Thai, and curries that we are so spoilt by our options here in Toronto. In my mind I was thinking an expensive Thai place- what should I bed expecting? But am I glad we tried this place! The service was fantastic as our server went through the menu with us and gave some recommendations. The food here is similar to tapas where everything we ordered we shared. There was a 80 dollar price fix menu where I think it would have been good bang for your buck but my group decided to order a la carte. We started off with the dumplings - these were beautiful in presentation and each one tasted amazing. We then had a rice salad dish which was presented beautifully. Next up we had the sea bream which was my favorite dish of the night. The fish was beautifully cooked and came with these little lettuce wraps that you could use- carefully of the chili though it's spicy!!! We then had a pomelo salad as a palate cleaner before we had the short ribs and pork jowl. I would skip the pork jowl but the short ribs was flavorful and paired great with rice and roti. Make sure you book a table! We were a party of 3 and even though we booked a few days beforehand we were seated at the bar-which was fine but not ideal for a group of 3. read more

An absolutely amazing feast for the eyes and the palate. The service is top notch and the restaurant has a great vibe and ambiance.

The brunch here is unreal! Kiin Toronto does Thai fusion the right way. Literally so amazing! I've been for dinner and loved every dish, so decided to go try the brunch. I love how they take traditional dishes and give them a Thai spin. Everything we ordered was phenomenal: EGGS BENNY: Served with Thai hollandaise, deep fried basa fish, and pickled veggies. This was probably my fave dish, but it's so hard to choose! COCONUT WAFFLES: made with Jasmine rice flour, topped with exotic fruit such as dragon fruit and mango. Served with coconut cream OMELETTE: Not what we expected but super delicious. It is basically bits of omelette that are DEEP FRIED and served on rice. So good!! DUMPLINGS: I love the dumplings at Kiin. They're so pretty AND delicious. These ones they serve at brunch are filled with peanut and ginger, my fave! They also serve a dumpling platter during dinner, with a bunch of different types. read more

Think of Kiin as an new Thai experience to be savored versus the typical carb-heavy food run to your neighborhood Thai joint. The attention to detail is in every aspect, from their amazing food, excellent service, and aesthetic atmosphere. The space isn't big, which means less seats but it's been lovingly decorated in shades of gold, pink and green. Everything is meant to be beautiful and detailed, which sums up to a an amazing dining experience. The food reflects their aesthetic. Their Royal Dumpling Platter is an excellent example of their dedication to detail. Each dumpling had it's own distinct flavor and texture, and there was obviously alot of thought and attention placed on making each one, even when each one could all be devoured in a bite or two. The Pork Jowl dish was cooked perfectly, so the meat was on that fine line of being chewy, crisp and soft all at the same time. It was my favorite dish of the night based solely on texture and flavor. Lastly, the Salted sea bream was a new way to experience fish. We watched them laborously debone the fish and it was presented to us with the little pockets of lettuce and toppings to eat with. It was light, fresh and full of contrasting textures and flavors. A new level of Thai dining! read more

Finally tried this place. Friendly and helpful staff. Music selection was on point all night, and perfect volume (never felt like I was yelling over the music). Had half a dozen oysters, dumplings, pomelo salad and the duck dish with rice. All good selections. Loved it all, though the duck was a bit sweet for my personal taste (not a sweet tooth and that's my only complaint). Finished off with the roti dessert which wasn't bad (but again not a sweet tooth so not the best judge). All that was quite filling and definitely left satisfied. Favourite dishes: betel lead dumpling (I could 20 of those) and the pomelo salad. read more

The place is beautifully decorated, and dimly lit for dinner. We were promptly seated for our reservation, and the waiters were knowledgeable about the dishes. The Roy Thai were great appetizers, both in taste and presentation. Next time we'll get the thoong thong by themselves because they were the best part, though I think the Roy Thai selection should be tried at least once by everyone. The sea bream and the duck were solid mains. We added jasmine rice for the duck to make it more of a meal. The duck itself was flavourful and fried shallots were a nice topping. The seam bream was well cooked in banana leaves and the sauce was perfect, bright and spicy but not overpowering. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal. Our favourite course was probably the dessert roti. I could honestly eat two orders of that by myself. They are quite strong in appetizers and dessert. Their mains, while good, are not great yet. I'm willing to give them another shot and see if they've improved next time. read more

Small, cozy, elegant, bougie, and modern. Kiin is all about the aesthetics. My friends and I decided to try Kiin out after hearing that it was opened by the same owner as Pai. We made reservations (highly recommend you to do so), as it gets fairly busy in the evening. Between the three of us, we ordered a bunch of dishes to share: Roy Thai platter, Mussels, Pork Jowl, Khao Yum, and each got the Pandan Iced Tea which was highly refreshing! The Royal Thai Platter contains bite size Thai dumplings. It was interesting and worth a try, but to be completely honest, I can't tell you what was what. Some were a hit and some were a miss. Mussels were decent - what you would expect mussels to taste like. Pork Jowl is my personal favourite - highly recommended this dish! The pork jowl was chewy yet tender. Very tasty and flavourful as well. Khao Yum is a beautiful colourful dish of finely chopped ingredients. We saw a lot of tables ordering, but this was probably most disappointing of all. Other than it being pretty, we really could not tell what we were eating. Plus, the portion size was incredibly small! Overall, it was an unique experience. Highly unlikely that I will be returning however. Would recommend if you want to try a higher-end thai restaurant with aesthetically pleasing dishes that tastes decent/ mediocre. Know that unless you are willing to dish out more $$ to order the rest of the menu, you will likely be leaving hungry as all the portion sizes ran fairly small. read more

Kiin is such a cute little Thai fusion restaurant. The decor is modern and chic - very instagramable place. Overall service was good and quick. Our food came very quickly and nicely presented. We ordered 3 dishes to share: Coconut Waffles GF- jasmine rice flour waffle, coconut cream, toasted coconut, seasonal thai fruit, coconut sugar - I enjoyed the coconut flavour in the waffle and the fruits paired with it, however the coconut cream didn't seem to go well with it. It didn't give the waffle the moisture and sweetness it needed. With the coconut cream it just made the waffles taste a little dry. Eggs Benedict - deep fried basa, thai cruller, poached eggs, thai hollandaise sauce, house salad - This was probably my favourite dish of the 3. The fried basa was so flavourful and not fishy at all. The thai hollandaise was unique and a nice touch with the fish. Overall the dish wasn't too salty and had wonderful flavours. Khao Mun Gai - poached chicken, garlic-ginger rice, soybean chilli sauce, winter melon soup - Tasted just like Hainanese chicken with rice. The chicken was so flavourful and juicy. It was absolutely delicious and so fragrant. Loved the Thai flavours infused into brunch dishes. Dishes were nicely presented. I would definitely come again! read more

Best Thai fusion food in the city. The venue is trendy and friendly. A little cozy if you know what I mean, so make reservations! Try the Roy Thai Platter. Perfect for two people. Takes you on a visual and tasteful journey of flavours. Some dishes have a spicy kick which is great because they pair it with something to cool down with. The pomelo salad really stood out for me. Refreshing dish packed with bursts of flavours. The whole sea bream was a clean and light tasting dish. I would have liked a different dessert menu because it's cold outside and I can't handle ice cream. Overall, really nice take on fine dining Thai food. read more

Went there yesterday with my wife for their tasting menu. I'm vegetarian gluten free and they were able to accommodate very easily. 4.5 stars for brunch and dinner... I'd easily say one of the top places for Thai food in the city and a great place for dining in general. There's a new player in the brunch game and it is really really good. I love when a place takes your typical regular brunch dishes and turn it upside on its head with a new creative take. Kiin does that with a Thai flare. Ive been here for dinner and loved it. Brunch is no different. It's a gorgeous light setting ... it feels relaxed but also regal at the same time. It helps to see the Thai royal family portraits on the back wall to help emphasize that elevated experience. The light woods and golden tones all speak to a warmer and zen like experience. Tables here are well spaced out. You're not going to knock over the next table dishes if you try to move out of the comfy banquette that lines the wall. Service reflects the same warmth you see in place. It's friendly, outgoing but not in your face, thoughtful, and considerate. Our server was spot on all the recommendations and able to explain every dish you've never tried. Which on this menu is a lot... this is not your grandma's brunch menu or any Thai menu you've seen before. It takes your standard brunch dishes throw in the Thai flavours and tropical fruits that makes it stand out. Instead of typical donuts, you have Thai Cruller with Pandan custard. Granola... sure but with lychee and mango. Benedicts are here but with Thai cruller, fried basa fish, and Thai hollandaise. Chor Ladda (Jasmine rice dumplings) - This is a mainstay on their dinner menu. These beautifully folded flower looking in a gorgeous shade of lapis. The colour cames naturally from a local Thai flower. These are just the perfect bite of flavour. Inside you have sweet coconut meat and savoury peanuts. It's topped with crispy onions that firmly veers the dumpling into a bold savoury burst. You get 6 in the appetizer size. Be ready to fight for the last one. 4.5/5 Crispy Thai Omelette - So I came thinking French omelette... so wrong of me. Rethink this as a deconstructed fried rice ... fluffly and tender black rice (berry rice) and jasmine rice are the foundation to a huge mound of chicken pieces and deep fried egg droplets that are crispy bites. Cooked onions and red peppers add to the flavour ... then it's topped with your Sriracha for that sweet heat we all know. Mix it up and you got a huge plate of a good fried rice. 4/5 Coconut Waffles - Gluten Free... yup, it's made with rice flour instead. You may not notice because it's just as light as the ones made with wheat. With the very generous waffles, you also get sweet juicy mango pieces, white dragonfruit, red dragonfruit, and the most delicious potent coconut cream to dip everything in. I think I could have drizzled that on top of pancakes, donuts, pound cake... you get the idea. 4.5/5 Loved this experience as it's not your everyday brunch ... food is delicious and the service is spot on. I really couldnt ask for a better way to start my Sunday. Another perk... they take reservations so go call! read more

The first time I was so impressed with the food but the second time Is the winner for me. One the server (I think she's the owner or manager) did such a good job for the service. One of the naan/bread to dip with main dish got deliver too fast. She's offered to return the dish and ensure both dishes arriving at the same time. I tried to make a reservation via YPDine but no spots were available. I left a voice message and they called me back a few days later. They would seat us at the chef's table and said we would have 1.5-2 hours for dinner. I booked at 5:30 since we were seeing a show at 8pm...to allow walking time to the theatre. We ended up completing our meal in one hour! The chef's table is actually 4 stools at a counter where you can see food prep in the open kitchen. The other 2 stools were not used while we were there. There was no place to hand coats so we had to sit on them on our backless stools...uncomfortable There were hooks under the counter to hand my purse though The food prep was precise and immaculate. Such a treat to watch the artistry put into the meal prep, using tweezers to grab the smallest ingredients. We started with the root chips which were nicely seasoned. I liked the taro chips but didn't care for the sweet potato ones. Then we had the chor ladda, which were very pretty and tasty. Then we had the khao yum which was lovely and yummy. We finished with 2 desserts.....hubby had the sweet roti (naan covered in sweetened milk) and I had the sundae made with coconut sorbet and many delicious toppings. Pricing was on the mid to high range but the ingredients were fresh, food was delicious and most staff were friendly. Nice small restaurant but make a reservation at a proper table if possible. read more

Reason for Visit: Recommended by Yelpers in area. Menu: This is a higher end version of Pai ran by the same owners. Owner is a couple where wife is head chef and husband manages the restaurant. This restaurant is meant as a more casual fine dining experience. First thing I will mention is the prices are much higher than your traditional thai cuisine. The beef curry was ~$30 (doesn't include rice) and each dish is ~$15-$25. My table ordered 3 dishes + 1 coconut rice for 2 people as recommended. I highly recommend their short ribs curry as it was delicious. It wasn't too spicy and it is very smooth and sweet. It was perfect with their coconut rice. Pork jowl was also extremely tasty and not too tough. The royal thai dumplings was interesting, definitely worth trying once. I am not too sure if I will try it again though as it is quite expensive for a small appetizer. Service: Very well done. Waitresses/waiter are very attentive and very knowledgeable with the menu. Atmosphere: Very nicely renovated. Modern casual fine dining look. Overall: 4/5. Food was amazing. I would definitely come back more often if it wasn't so expensive. If you are looking for higher end Thai/Western fusion, then this is a good place to go. However, if just looking for some decent traditional Thai food, you can probably find a better place with much cheaper options. read more

Big hype, good food but a little lacking on flavour balance and service. We shared dumplings, pandan chicken, beef short rib with rice and some other snack dish. The dumplings were ok. Some were too sweet, some too chewy, the chicken one was the best. I get that they're going for michelin-esk style tasting but I think the balance in flavour is off. The pandan chicken was very good but messy. The beef short rib was delicious and the broth had a nice depth in flavour. Best dish of the night! Some items I didnt like: -There is no knife with the place setting but a lot of times I struggled to cut the short rib without a knife. -They are very strict with their reservation policy. I was told 2 times via email ahead of my reservation that my seating is for 2 hours and that another party is booked to be seated afterward. Before even coming to the restaurant, i already felt like my dinner was rushed and that they wanted us out the door as soon as possible. Overall ok experience and food. read more

First things first, the food is almost too pretty to eat! I'm a huge fan of Thai food but this is like no other Thai food I've had. Nary a pad Thai in sight. Instead, the menu has authentic original items that I'd never had before. The dumplings - exquisite little pieces lovingly hand crafted - each one a delight on the palate. The Oysters, short rib, duck, even the chicken! Each bite was a delight. I enjoyed how the servers would stand over us to explain what we were eating and how to eat it. A pretty little restaurant with not a lot of seats so book your table ahead. read more

The food is amazing! The service is great. The restaurant is no ordinary Thai restaurant. You will not see your ordinary Pad Thai or Curries. Instead it's upscale fusion Thai restaurant. Their dumplings are fantastic! My favorite is the purple dumpling shaped like a flower. It has a very unique coconut taste to it. The only issue I have is their menu is very limited if you have a Shell Fish allergy which I did. Almost all their mains except for duck has some sort of Shell fish product in their food. Therefore, if you have that allergy you are limited to the duck or salad. I do find the prices are very expensive. Especially the dessert. I had the Taro cake which was very very good but I do find $15 for dessert is too much especially since the portion size is small. Be careful with the servers recommendation. Take it with a grain of salt because at times they might want to up sale you or recommend too much food. Since the food is expensive I do suggest ordering different dishes and share. read more

REVIEW FOR THEIR BRUNCH ONLY Service: the waitress was really attentive, friendly, and helpful with suggestions, and explained every dish we order when she brought them to us! It was such a BEAUTIFUL LOOKING ANDDD UNIQUE AND DELICIOUS DISH! It's light, sweet, savoury, and chewy, is definitely order this again in the future! Eggs Benedict - portion is larger than most eggs Benedict I've seen! It's stacked really tall with Thai fried cruller, fried basa fish, eggs, topped with a unique spicy Thai style hollandaise, and comes with a side of salad. It's different and worth a try if you love eggs Benedict! Thai Rice Congee - it seems to be chicken based and comes with many toppings and crispy rice noodles. You can eat everything separately or mix up all the ingredients (I recommend) for the full flavour. It's a great choice if you are looking for something light and hearty! Overall: if you are tired of the common American/Canadian/European brunch dishes Toronto has to offer, come here for a new experience on the taste bud! I would definitely go back again to try other dishes they have to offer! read more

Interesting dumpling combination. Went with two other friends and we decided to share. Some items were overpriced so we didn't try anything else (for a student coop budget). The shishito peppers we expected to be a bit spicy but the outside spices covered it. Would perhaps go back and try other dishes in the future. Pic of menu attached. :) read more

we went to visit Kiin a Thai cuisine restaurant location on Adelaide. As we noticed, in the Asian culture sharing food is very important part of the culture. I think that's the reason why the menu was designed into Small, medium, large, instead of appetizers, main. Chef Nuit executive chef at Kiin, designed a menu for locals to come in and enjoy traditional dishes from all around Thailand. We had: Chor Ladda: Jasmine rice flour, peanut, onion, picked radish. Beef Boombai: braised AAA Wellington country beef short rib with tamarind, fried cucumber, and pearls onion Stuffed squid: squid, chicken and the shrimp stuffing, chuchee sauce, coriander roots, white pepper, Thai garlic. Sisters: their poplar cocktail . read more

It's a fun little place nestled in the Entertainment District, east of Spadina on Adelaide. It's easy to miss it as the sign is small. Street parking is available and there are lots of private parking lots around the area. Getting to it by subway or the streetcar is also very easy. The place is small, but the service is mighty. The entire staff provide impressive service from the hostess to someone who takes your coat and of course, your server. If you're coming during the weekend, I would probably take a reservation as you could be turned away due to limited seating. All the dishes are to share and similar to tapa-like restaurants. The dishes are small, so I would recommend at least 3 large plates. If you're Asian - like me - you definitely would need to order a side dish or rice. I can see that it's a Thai fusion - more like a white version of Thai food. I tried five dishes: Root Chips, Roy Thai, Duck, Mee Grob and a sticky rice dessert. My drink was Sweet Pea - a mildly sweet fruity concoction that includes pecan milk. They're all very tasty, but hands down, Roy Thai is the winner. The course comes with four kinds of appetizers - different kinds of wildly unique dumplings. Another unique dish is Mee Grob which deliciously comes with crunchy vermicelli along with shrimps, tofu and a whole lot more. When everything is said and done, it's alright. It's not a cheap place - a bill for two came in at $150 - pretty standard for tapa-like places. But I didn't find a wow factor. read more

Lackluster menu, elegant space... overall, not bad. Kiin is what I would call a Thai Fusion restaurant, I'm not sure which part of fusion yet but there's definitely a lack of spice. This isn't your typical Thai restaurant. There is no pad thai or pad sew. This is a fancy schmancy "share-style" space that lends itself to a more "social" crowd. You know which ones I'm talking about... not only the IG influencers, but also the type to pick and play at your food... even when your parents taught you NEVER TO PLAY WITH YOUR FUCKING FOOD. Anyways, the space is very elegant, it's well decorated, comfy-ish chairs and the tables, although they look like you have to fold up a coaster and put it down under one of the legs to stop it from wobbling.... It may look that way, but trust me you don't. My only complaint here is that there is a slight separation on the front portion of the restaurant. When you first enter the space, you're greeting on a landing pad that can accommodate 5 or so tables and then there are stairs leading down to the entirety of the restaurant. I find the configuration a bit disconnected. But I'm weird, what the fuck do I know. The food is very unique and creative. Like I mentioned earlier, this isn't a typical Thai restaurant where you pick pad thai and they ask you how spicy do you want it. No. This is a fused up, millennial type menu that fits on 2-postcards back and front with 3 variations of meat doused in a choice of either green or red curry. I don't know. Meh. We were a party of 3. So we were recommended to order 3 dishes. The first dish was a sweet and spicy marinated chicken wrapped and fried in a banana leaf-- we were told to separate the banana leaf to get to the chicken. Nope. Guys, just eat the chicken with the banana leaf, you're not going to die.. This, if anything, adds texture to the dish-- at least it's not romaine lettuce, that shit will kill you. Our next dish was a red curry beef stew and a green curry pork stew. This is simple, if you want spicy, get the red curry, if you want sweet, get the green curry. Ain't nothing to fuck with. Both were good, rich in flavour and drenched in their respective meats with more soup curry residue leftover than you know what to do with, maybe order more coconut rice-- but watch out they charge extra for this. I tend to lean more towards the red curry... so give that a shot. This place got some good debt on it... but no depth with respect to actual food. Toronto has a plethora of new restaurants that pop up at least once every 2 months. If you're a food enthusiasts give it a shot. It's worth it and the prices are reasonable.. But on the higher end of reasonability. Our bill came to $130 for 3 dishes, 3 beers, 3 out of 5 stars. read more

This place serves unique Royal Thai cuisine. You won't find the typical pad thai, papaya salad, and pad gra prow in this restaurant. Instead, selection includes Royal Thai Dumplings that come out nicely presented and very colourful (some are a bit on the sweet side), Pomelo Salad with Poached Shrimps (sauce is also a bit sweet), Roasted Mussels with Lemongrass and Kaffir Lime, Mieng Pla (very delectable soft sea bream with Thai herbs and garlic), and Khao Yum (coloured jasmine rice with rice berries, long beans, toasted coconut, etc.). Everything is a colour and taste delight! read more

It's always a little disappointing when the quality of the food isn't up to the level of the ambiance, service, and price. That's exactly what happened during our recent visit to Kiin. The place is certainly selling itself as a fancier than average Thai place, with its somewhat lavish atmosphere and obsequious wait staff. And indeed, I have absolutely no complaints about how we were treated all night. (Our water was literally topped up every few minutes or so.) I should also note that the restaurant was celebrating Songkran, the Thai New Year, by handing out free drinks. (I opted for the cocktail, which was admittedly delicious.) We decided to order three things: Pandan Chicken ("marinated chicken wrapped in pandan leaf, sweet chilli sauce"): This was probably the most disappointing dish of the night, ultimately. The biggest problem was that the chicken was quite dry and flavorless, although, admittedly, it tasted okay once dipped in the tasty sweet chilli sauce. Pork Jowl ("grilled pork jowl tamarind, roasted rice, mint, roasted red chilli, Thai kale stalks"): And this was my favorite dish of the evening, though I wasn't blown away. The grilled pieces of pork jowl were all cooked quite well, while the various accompaniments complemented the dish perfectly. This tastes like an almost prototypical Thai dish, honestly. Kua Hang Gai ("braised chicken stir-fry with lemongrass, Thai garlic and buffalo basil"): This plentiful dish is certainly quite edible - the chicken was cooked well and the extremely mild flavors work nicely together - but again, nothing stood out about it. For the prices Kiin is charging, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more than just a completely average meal. read more

If you're looking for a great Thai restaurant, your search is over. Kiin took over the old Khao San Road location and renovated the place to make it look more contemporary / upscale. We ordered a few cocktails (highly recommend Gemini and 2 Sisters); tasted great but they were a bit pricey. For appetizers, we ordered the Royal Thai (dumplings). There are 4 different types x 2 for a total of 8. Every dumpling is a unique texture and flavour. This is a must try dish! For dinner we ordered the beef boombai with coconut rice and wow...talk about flavour! The short rib was falling off the bone and the coconut curry was so creamy. This cost roughly $36 but was worth the price. For dessert, we ordered the Thai dessert roti. Nothing special but was the perfect amount of sweet. This place has a great vibe, friendly service and is a must try! Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Price: 4/5 read more
