    Chicken nuggets box
    Traci F.

We come here once in awhile when we get a craving for fried chicken. It is comfort food, although can be a bit pricey. Today we tried the chicken nugget box. It can easily feed a family of four and includes a good variety of items: Biscuits, 4 pieces of chicken, fries, and nuggets. We ordered a couple of sides to add to our meal.

    Gotta be kidding.

Place is old and outdated as heck, food is mediocre KFC, but holy heck can we talk about these prices? How are they still in business? How did covid not take them down? Is something fishy going on here, cuz I can't imagine how anyone who lives here can afford this, much less would want to pay these prices when better and more-affordable options exist. I'm willing to bet the owner of this franchise does this because they know they're the only KFC on the island. They have a monopoly on it and think they can just force people to pay anything. Sounds pretty corrupt. Wouldn't be surprised if this location is heckin' shady. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. There's better out there. Hit up a food truck or something and stay away from this trash.

I was asked to pickup a bucket of chicken and a couple orders of cole slaw for our block party. I saw that on YELP the menu says $33.99 for the chicken, and $2.59 for each cole slaw. When I got to the window the lady says $73.27! I thought she had charged me twice, but apparently they have doubled their prices. Needless to say, you won't be seeing me here again.

Hah, not sure what's with all the negative reviews. Pre-covid, KFC was my go-to when I was tired of eating all the other fast food places, but wanted to eat something quick and convenient. One of my go-tos is the KFC bowl and it almost always tastes really good! Another go-to is the 2 piece original chicken meal. I have always loved their original chicken recipe and it's always tasted exactly the same as I remember from the first time I had it years and years ago. Fun fact: back in business school I learned that they keep the Colonel's Original Recipe locked in a vault at the KFC headquarters. They go to extreme measures to protect their biggest asset to keep that chicken finger lickin' good. It began in Kentucky over 80 years ago and they still use the same recipe today. Anywho, during covid times, I haven't really eaten much fast food. BUT my dad has been craving KFC lately so I've been doing KFC runs for a bucket of original chicken the last couple of weeks and I've snagged a few drumsticks for myself. Yup, still delicious! Still flavorful on the outside, still incredibly moist in the inside. They pressure fry that chicken to not only cook faster, but it keeps the chicken moist and tender. Mmmhhhmm. The place could definitely use a refresh soon. The menu is looking quite worn and weathered. Customer service isn't always stellar, but honestly I just want my chicken and I'll be on my way.

    The KFC in Kahului town.............

Wow, Lau Lau...........how come da oddah day I wen' here it was soooooooooooooo busy, yet this place only get ova-all (2) star rating???? I gonna one up 'em, & give KFC one tree (3) star rating! Lol! I have to admit, if I have other options for frrrrrrrrrried chicken, KFC normally isn't a place that would automatically pop up into my head. Usually my goto frrrrrrrrried chicken spot starts with a "P".......if you know where Bruddah Fran's favorite chicken joint is! I guess on Maui, no moa too much options............besides KFC, get Minit Stop, Zippy's, and I just noticed a Jollibee is coming soon to Maui..........but aside from that, I guess da peeps on Maui don't have too much options........small kine sad, no? On Monday when I was working in Wailuku, after I had finished up a job I was heading towards Kahului town, and low & behold I see this sign at KFC - 2 for $4.50! What was - 2 fo' $4.50? It was this little chicken sandwich called a "Chicken Little".......sounded good to me, so I pulled into the small parking lot, and I figured I'd give it a try for a late light lunch. Upon walking up to the ordering counter, I tell da lady - 'eh, I like da 2 fo' $4.50 dealages! She in turned asked me what kine chicken sandwich I like? Didn't know what kine options, so I had to take a quick look at da sign. You had 3 different options of - 1. Honey Mustard 2. Nashville Hot 3. Honey BBQ I ended up getting da numba #2, & #3. What can I say about the "Chicken Little" sandwiches? Aiyah! They weren't kiddin' when they said it was a "chicken little" sandwich, because what you got was a very small sandwich! Lol! Maybe 2 or 3 bites worthy.......but when you put both sandwiches together, maybe if your lucky enough, you get about a standard sandwich? So what I'm saying is you get a puny bun with mayonnaise & pickles, then it's topped with two chicken strips that was dipped in one of the three sauces that they offered. The sandwich itself wasn't a bad sandwich. But it's not something I would run home & tell my mama! Lol! Overall, it got the job done for a quick bite, and I really can't complain about that. The restaurant was clean, service was pretty fast considering how busy they were. Free parking, and enough seating within the restaurant. What more can I say........

    Giant cup attack.

Well it s what I expected for kfc. I had to pay extra for cole slaw. Which was good. I had the standard 3 pc combo( 1 drumstick and 2 thigh) and mashed and Pepsi. Pretty normal fare, original and tasty. I like kfc, I have managed to ignore this spot for The last year. I put it in the fast food slot for nutrition so I hold off. But it is a favorite for me. So the meal was delish . Pretty small place. Maybe 8 Tables for 2 or 4 and one for 6. Bathrooms are unlocked, no request for key needed. I d go back. Exact as I Thought. . It s just a KFC.

    Menu is top secret!

KFC - it is what it is and no surprise since they have been around forever. They do keep updating the menu from time to time which makes it interesting. I had the value meal which was good value for two big crispy pieces of chicken, potatoes and gravy, drink, biscuit and a cookie. Unfortunately though not enough vegetable matter. No substitutions allowed on the value meals. Hubby got the wings which seem to be a little high-priced compared to the other cuts of chicken. Of course it's greasy and good, but we do keep coming back. The place is clean and well run, and the only KFC still in business on Maui. The trainee at the counter was a little green, and had to scold me for taking pictures of the menu for future reference, but her supervisor just let it slide, thank you. You can get unsweetened iced tea here. Update August 2018. I can't get excited about a company who is clueless about single use plastic to this extent. When asked if eating here or taking out, I said eating here. So why do I get a plastic lunch box big enough to choke a whale? I would have been happy with a paper plate for god's sake. Remember those things? Apparently KFC has not heard about the global crisis regarding plastic and Styrofoam. Note to self - boycott this place until they wise up.

Stopped into the drive-thru here, and the speaker was static-ridden and completely impossible to hear the person speak. Ended up having to drive up to the window to give my order. Food otherwise was fine, standard KFC recipe and pricing was slightly more than the mainland. ($28.60 for an 8pc meal).

    Disgusting gravy. Didn't even pour

It was the size of a small infant head! Let's just start off by saying this was the last day on our trip in Maui and I just wanted something quick and easy and on the cheaper side cause everything has been so expensive. So I looked up the food court and saw that this place had numerous different types of dishes and restaurants within the shopping mall. There's nothing really fancy about this food hall, it pretty much looks like a cafeteria. We come from San Francisco so we're used to food halls being fancy five star blah blah blah. This is definitely a bang for your buck kind of place. I could see that a lot of locals come to this place for lunch as well. Walking up to the chicken restaurant I walked up to a kiosk and ordered my food through there. It was about 15 minutes. I wanted to say until I got my food and when I saw it, my eyes grew so big! The chicken was so moist, and there was so much flavor that it was like bing bang in my mouth. I got mine very spicy so definitely if you're looking for spice to order it spicy. All I can say if you want a quick lunch that is delicious and appropriately priced come check this place out and have yourself a chicken sandwich!

It must be my lucky day, because normally when I scroll through Google looking for something to…read moreeat. It's usually hard for me to pick something out of a line up of restaurants I've already tried before. So this time was easy. A name I didn't recognize appeared on my screen. Plus since I always want to try something new. Let's see what Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken has to offer this not so hangry yet, girl. So far so good, their stock photos look appetizing. I already picked out a list of items I'd like to try like the: Chicken Sando, Chicken Fingers, Chicken Wrap, Loaded Fries, Salad w/ Chicken Breast as well as the Loaded Mac & Cheese. As for my first visit I chose to try the Loaded Fries with Medium heat & my fiancé chose the Chicken Bites in Mild. Just to be on the safe side when trying out new restaurants as to what they consider to be spicy. I'll usually start in the middle & work my way up on spice. Mild or medium didn't have that kick I was looking for so I'll try hot on my next visit. Just not sure which item will win my pick just yet. However I am a fan of their logo & overall atmosphere. It's a fun restaurant to order at. They have 3 self serve kiosks to order from. The two on the outside are for ordering Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken & the one in the middle is for ordering off of the dessert menu. Which being that I'm usually not one to order soda. I was extremely excited to have an option to order a Thai Tea Boba from here too. So there's still plenty from their treat menu that I'm eager to try as well. My only suggestion I can think of is maybe having different size options to choose from. Cause my loaded fries came in a massive box. It was enough to feed me for 3 meals, breakfast, lunch & dinner. Dating tips: If you're on a budget take your light eater here for an inexpensive date & just take your leftovers to go. Overall my first experience was a good one & I'll work on getting my spicy lovers to sample Angry Hot. Until next time. XOXO, ChelsieFletcher

While there was a good turn out in the bar area and plenty of TV screens playing the game, when we arrived they had music playing instead. It took us about 20 minutes after sitting for a server to greet us so we could ask to turn on audio. Unfortunately, the slow and disappointing service continued. Someone else mentioned in a previous review a couple years back, but server was really slow getting food orders in and ordering additional rounds after our initial drink order. Our original server disappeared for a break (or end of shit) without ever introducing us to a new server or letting us know someone else would be taking over our table. When we asked if we could split the check, the new server waved her finger at us and responded with an attitude, saying the previous server should have told us they don't allow split checks. We were a large group, so we completely understood the automatic gratuity and would have been fine if it was added to each bill or simply explained the restaurant policy politely but the rude interaction was completely unnecessary. As for the food, we ordered the pupu platter, sliders, fried calamari, and french fries. Nothing stood out, and most of it tasted like typical frozen bar food. The calamari was especially disappointing--it had more of a fish stick texture than fresh calamari. They did have a pretty decent beer selection on tap. The pictures look a lot better than the restaurant actually is, it's a little bit outdated. We sat at the high top bar seating area, close to the sushi bar. We noticed when one of the workers was working at the sushi bar that a strong ocean/wharf smell came through the bar. I get it, we are in Maui but the sushi area smelled more like a seafood prep station than fresh sushi grade fish. Also, the Men's restroom only had one working sink, with the hand dryer not working and no paper towels. Nothing beats coming back to the table from the restroom with wet hands. Overall, this experience didn't live up to the expectations. If you need a spot to just grab a beer and watch the game this place might work, but if you are also looking for welcoming service and a delicious meal, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

I will definitely be going back because I like to support local and these guys are making some great food for reasonable prices. I definitely recommend these guys and I will definitely be going back. So much more menu items to try.
