Vons had great service and the staff was friendly throughout the experience, but the food itself was pretty mid overall. The garlic chicken wings were probably the best thing we ordered -- good flavor and nicely cooked. The fries with the honey butter seasoning were interesting and had a solid sweet/savory taste. The Ugly Dog was okay, but nothing that really stood out. Everything was decent, just not something I'd go out of my way for again. Good atmosphere and service though, which helped the experience
A cute little shop that had a lot more than I expected. Lots of variety of snacks and other items. The service was nice the lady was very patient while I was being indecisive about what flavors to try so I ended up getting a few different things. Staring off with the combo to get a good variety of things it was alright their standard chicken is pretty good along with the mandu and the eggroll. The calamari was chewy and the fish wasn't that good. Next up the wings they were good with lots of flavor and stayed crispy with the sauce on it. I got the shoyu by recommendation which ended being my favorite of the two the other being the garlic. That one is sweeter and not as strong of a garlic flavor. I prefer the more savory options. Overall I thought it was good would stop by here and there. I do wish there was a mix and match option to try other flavors.
First off, the owners are so incredibly nice and already started off the experience on a high note. The store has more of a whole in the wall vibe but inside was very nice and clean as well. The dumplings were incredibly tasty and were filled with pork and I highly recommend them. They were very well priced as well. The shoyu chicken was a 10/10, fried to perfect and the taste was incredible. Highly recommend
The service is always so friendly and they don't sell just chicken. They have plenty of snacks and goodies as well! If you don't know what to get, then definitely get a chicken plate. It comes with your chicken flavor of choice in thighs cut up, corn, with couple gyozas, and rice. I think it's very filling and worth the price! Wish I took a picture before I digged in (lol sorry).

We tried their new nori rolls and boba along with shoyu wings, crispy tofu and snow fires. The nori rolls are glass noodles wrapped in nori and fried crispy It comes with a tangy shoyu sauce. We liked it and would order again. The flavor on the snow fries was really subtle. The shoyu wings and crispy tofu are our favorites! We tried the lychee boba and liked it too. It's nice to have another place to get boba nearby.
An absolutely amazing selection of savory items - their chicken options are well-loved by the community, and my personal favorite has to be their Tornado Potatoes on a stick and their Korean Corn Dogs (the Potato Dog is my usual order) - if you're looking for something to bring for a party or just a filling bite for yourself, I recommend Von's Chicken as your go-to option - Miguel Morales Photography
Friendly service and easy online ordering for this small shop. We ordered the regular chicken, the ugly corn dog, the tornado potato and the regular french fries. All were good, though everything was battered exactly the same, so while delicious it all pretty much tasted the same. Even the skewered tornado french fry was battered. The wings were yummy and juicy. The corn dog was good, but the batter was so thick, that was all I got in my mouth until I took a few bites and found the hot dog. Overall, using less of the batter on everything would probably be better.
If I already wasn't a type 1 diabetic, I'd be concerned about eating here all the time! Everything is SO sweet ! Ate at this place a few times and tried the following : - crispy shoyu chicken: this is the tastiest chicken in my opinion. There is a sweetness that shoyu chicken normally has but not overbearing. Chicken was still really crispy 40 min after we ordered. Wings and mini drumsticks are the chicken types in the order. Inside was moist and cooked all the way. - honey butter: I did not like this. My husband thought it was ok. Way too sweet, kind of artificial honey and or butter taste. Chicken was cooked well though. - tteokbokki or crispy rice cakes: not bad either, but I'm not a big tteokbokki sauce fan. Slightly sweet with a gochugang flavor. Rice cakes nicely toasted with a soft inside. - green papaya salad: sorry but don't get this. Not at all like green papaya salad flavoring you'd expect. Overbearingly sweet and the sauce tastes like takuan pickled veggies or sweet radish Kim chi banchan. They also do manapua on Wednesday's for pre-order only and sell a bunch of other stuff in their cold case like tofu salad, garden salads, pasta salad, drinks, and local bakery desserts.
While I have yet to step foot inside, I scored an easy-try from Maui's newest eatery at a family get-together. I do plan on visiting them after things calm down to try more flavors but I've heard nothing but horror stories of long wait times and even running out of chicken. I usually like to include a brief history of the company in my review but I honestly couldn't find anything about Von's online. MENU: Chicken wings in six flavors (plain, seasoned, shoyu, honey butter, snow, garlic) and two sizes (10 or 20 pieces), mandoo, fried tofu, rice cake and french fries. FOOD: Crispy Fried Shoyu Chicken - $14.95 - $27.45 I knew this'd be my favorite of the two due to its savory and slightly sweet notes. The wingettes and drummettes were crispy due to a light coating or batter, cooked to the bone and nicely seasoned. Crispy Garlic Chicken - $15.95 - $27.45 A bit sweet with mild garlic notes, this batch wasn't as crispy as the shoyu. Flavor-wise it was just okay with no boldness or wow-factor. OVERALL: Funny how chicken wings are so pricey. These guys are decent but I have my favorite go-to places for tastier wings which include Outback and Ale House aside from my home kitchen.
Had to jump on the bandwagon on this one & check them out within the first few days of being open. Never heard of them before, but I saw fried chicken & I was automatically in. Went early because I figured like everything else new that opens, all of Maui would be there. Parked on the street as there really are only about 4 stalls inside & they were taken. Walked up to see all those people were waiting in their car. No line inside & went with the 10 piece crispy fried chicken & crispy mandoo. We were given a buzzer & waited outside. There were quite a bit of people in front of us, so we did wait quite a bit. Got our order & took it home to Kihei. Food was still warm, however we opened the chicken to find that we got the crispy fried seasoned chicken instad. Not a big deal, but we wanted to try the plain before trying the flavors. Chicken was very crispy with good flavor, just a bit messy. The mandoo was really tasty with a yummy sauce, a bit on the small side, more of a one bite sort of deal. Make it 2 bites & the remaining filling rolls right out. I suggest you call in your order. We saw several people come in & out in a flash while we were still waiting. Definitely will need to come back to try other things.

It had been a while since my last visit to Vons Chicken, and it was just as good as I remembered. The food was fresh, hot, and flavorful. I ordered the Garlic Chicken Plate Lunch, which was delicious, and the onion rings were crispy and freshly made. Even though it's a takeout-only restaurant, the location was clean, well-maintained, and organized. The service was also excellent. The staff was friendly and patient when I was having trouble using the kiosk, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience, and I definitely need to come back more often. read more

I recently visited Von's Chicken in Kahului again, and it reminded me why this spot always hits those chicken wings cravings just right. They're tucked away in the Maui Lani industrial area near the trampoline park with a handful of parking spots available. It's a small shop, at least their ordering area is, but their menu is surprisingly varied -- crispy wings, chicken sandwiches, Korean hot dogs, boba, and even a catering menu if you ever need to feed a crowd. I grabbed the Snow Wings again on my last visit, and wow... I forgot how good they are. Super crispy, flavorful, and just one of those "worth-it" indulgences. It is a bit on the pricier side, but honestly, good wings usually are -- and I'm absolutely willing to pay a premium for wings that deliver on flavor. I've tried a few of their other flavors, plus the tteokbokki and snow fries, but Snow is still the standout for me. Can't go wrong though in my opinion! If you love wings as much as I do, definitely stop by Von's Chicken next time you're in Kahului. It's one of those places I keep telling myself I should visit more often. read more

Ordered me a 6 Piece mild flavor and a side order of Onion Rings. Total comes out to about $20. Service: quick and friendly. I did a phone order and was ready in less then 15 mins. They provide u a buzzer in the meantime while u wait. Pros: Chicken is flavorful and crispy. Worth all the calories. Onion Rings are crispy and lightly battered. Variety flavors to pick from and do offer other items such a salads and pickled onions. Cons: chicken is tasty but they are a bit pricey. 6 piece is about $11. No fries, no drink, and no dipping sauce. They charge for ranch which is a bit disappointing. Its a small location. Just a grab and go kinda ordeal no inside dining. Even waiting, u do outside. read more
This new takeout restaurant is located just a few hundred feet past Ultimate Air trampoline on Laa Street. There isn't much to the restaurant other than to say that they make tasty fried chicken. They serve wings and drumsticks. They are not the big pieces like at Jollibee. They have meals and side orders, and we opted for side orders of the snow and honey butter chicken. It had a nice blend of sweet and saltiness. The chicken appears to be twice fried for crispness and then quickly coated with flavoring. They also have the Korean fried chicken, but we decided to try something different. There is ample street parking if the lot is full. I would highly recommend ordering by phone and allow about an hour for your order, as the place has gotten quite popular. read more

The food is amazingly delicious. The servings are large. The location in Kahului has no seating. It's a storefront. I ordered the garlic chicken plate, beer battered onion rings & mandoo. Everything was cooked well & tasted scrumptious. The service was quick. I didn't wait too long for my order. read more
Portions for the chicken items are pretty big, beware before you order more than you can handle! If you usually eat rice, you'll have to order that on the side. We waited 15 minutes, but the food came out fresh and hot. We got a full garlic chicken and half cheese/half hotdog corn dog. They were good! read more

I'm so happy that Maui finally has a Vons! I recently tried this restaurant in Oahu and I couldn't get enough of it. This place is kinda of hidden to find because of their small sign. To find this restaurant you need to drive past Ace Hardware and it'll be on your left. Parking is very limited and there is no indoor seating. Take out orders ONLY. My go to order will always be the crispy fried chicken. Today we got the half order of honey butter and half order of the crispy. After ordering you get a buzzer and wait outside. I recommend calling in your order because I went during my lunch break and it took almost 30 minutes. If I didnt go during lunch rush hour then I guess it wouldn't have been a long wait. Von's is one of my favorite fried chicken shops because they know how to cook crispy, tender, juicy chicken. The price is great for the amount you get! The staff here are so nice & friendly. When arrived to the restaurant I was greeted and helped right away. They also sell salads, pickled veggies, etc. from a local business called Yeong Suks. It really goes well to eat with fried chicken! 10/10 recommend! My new fave chicken stop on Maui. read more

The food was pretty good. Ordered the garlic fried chicken and mild crispy rice cakes. The fried chicken was delicious- juicy, crispy and flavorful. The mild crispy rice cakes were pretty good- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The mild was a good amount of spice. This place just opened up on Maui, so I expected the wait time to be long. Called in my order and was told the wait time is one hour. That's kinda nuts for fried chicken, but I waited. Seems like they have a lot of kinks to work out, which is expected with a new business. The lady at the register stated that the internet at their location is really bad, causing orders not to be communicated to the kitchen correctly. I overheard the worker talking to someone who ordered food for a celebration and the order was not ready for her. Therefore, they had to get their food elsewhere. That's a total bummer. Bottom line- Food is good. Staff is nice. Better internet connection is much needed......come on Spectrum. Go get lunch and then go work out at Crossfit next door :) read more

This is a new Korean fried chicken spot on Maui, located near Ace Hardware in Maui Lani. Highly recommend calling in your order beforehand! The wait can be awhile but it is totally worth it! Order: Crispy fried seasoned chicken (mild) Crispy fried shoyu chicken Honey butter chicken Snow wing chicken Crispy garlic chicken Honey butter fries Every single item that we got was great! My favorite chicken flavor was snow wing and mild crispy seasoned chicken!!!! Mr. Park (the owner) was also a delight to talk to! Super kind and considerate. read more

Can this fried chicken chain be different from others? YES! Korean based style of chicken with the crunch when you bite into it is unexplainable and deliciously juicy. We called ahead of time to order and was quoted it would be ready in 20 minutes. We ordered a 1/2 order each of crispy fried shoyu chicken and snow wing chicken. A side order of crispy spicy chicken, crispy mandoo, and once each of mild and spicy crispy rice cake. We all enjoyed it our meal. There was barely any talking as we savored each bite. You could hear crunch, lip smacking and finger licking deliciousness. We'll definitely order again...but really...call ahead so you can go home to enjoy it pronto! read more
I finally went yesterday. The nice cashier said the crispy teriyaki is very popular. Right on! I want 10 pieces. They cook it when you order. Fresh. As I drove home 10 mins away, my car filled up w a strange smell. Finally, we sat in my lanai to eat. The smell was coming from old oil or something. I wonder if they change oil every hr, every 2hrs, every day? After one piece, we threw the rest away. Inedible. We thought KFC was declining. This place falls in the bottom 10%. While I was waiting, I witnessed wrong orders; returns. If it weren't for the rancid oil, the chicken would have been ok; I want to go there again and try all their offerings but I'm unsure whether the oil is old or not. Should I ask someone who works there. I'll do it in private. read more

Yasssssssssss! I wasn't thrilled about the craze when they first opened but I'm officially in a Von's phase as I've been here a handful of times in the past few weeks. They can get busy so I definitely recommend ordering online for pick up so you don't have to wait cause their parking lot is a little tight with limited stalls but there's lots of street parking. Workers are really friendly and give you a buzzer to wait in your car if you order there. The space isn't that big inside so it doesn't take many people for it to feel crowded. Their chicken is so tasty and not skimpy in size or sauce. My favorite has to be the garlic chicken! I love their fries and gyoza too. So light and crispy. I appreciate it not being oily. I finally tried a Korean dog here. A little on the pricey side compared to other ones I've tried but I'd like to think it's a smidge larger in size and enough batter to coat the hot dog/cheese and not thick. So worth it for me. This location is in an industrial section and can be easy to pass if you're not paying attention but not much traffic in the area so ok to reverse or turn around lol. If you can't make this location there's another one in Kihei! read more

I got the Spicy All Cheese Corndog and boy was it a mouthful of ONOLICIOUSNESS!!! If you're not a fan of spicy, I'd say try their other options. But this was awesome! Joyce was friendly and the epitome of great customer service from the moment I walked in door. They're location is definitely worth visiting. read more
