    Tagpuan - Chicken Inasal

BEST FILIPINO FOOD ON THE ISLAND!…read more During my 1 week stay at Maui I probably came here about 5 times. I went here right after getting off the airport to get some quick comfort food before checking in to my stay in Kīhei and Tagpuan happened to be on the way. I ordered the chicken Inasal and pork lumpia and from those two simple dishes I could tell that this place was legit. IMO that inasal's definitely better than Mang Inasal back in PI and much better than the Inasal I've had in the Bay Area so hopefully that hypes it up enough. Kept coming back almost every single day till I left to go back to the mainland. In that time I also had the grilled liempo (pork belly), crispy pork belly, and longanisa sliders - all excellent dishes. Really love the sauce selections they use for their dishes too - pretty good balance of acid to cut the fat making the dishes feel not too heavy. The food truck is currently nestled in what seems to be an auto shop lot. There's a nice clean bathroom access via the auto shop near the food truck itself. Lots of parking, a few benches to eat at, and of course, really good food. The couple that run Tagpuan are incredibly kind and hard working people. Would highly recommend - not only to support a local business owner (who's from Lāhainā) but because they serve genuinely good and authentic Filipino food.

This food truck is inside a small lot with gravel around a couple benches and chairs. It's across from car wash so you'll hear their loud air drying machines but after awhile it's just background noise and doesn't bother us. Plus they play some nice music on a small speaker at the truck. We ordered the Ahi Poke Nachos and this dethroned our previous favorite from another spot down the road. It is a bit spicy so just be aware. So worth it. Lots of flavor and plenty poke to chip ratio. We also ordered the chicken Inasal since our kid would eat it. She's picky but ate plenty chicken. It has a very nice charred smoky flavor and still super tender and moist. We need to try the other items for sure so we will 100% be back. We got to meet the owners Rocky and Maine? They were super nice and took the time to explain that their name Tagpuan means "meeting place" for those who are not Filipino. (Me) When the food is ono we already happy but service was cherreh on top. They were warm and very inviting. There's one port a potty and sink just fyi. Highly recommend! Come check it out!

It was a short 5 min hop over from the airport to Da Tambayan Corner and parking in the adjacent lot was easy. All the food trucks are ringed around the central tables and look for the aquamarine Da Soriano truck over by the road. Their food style is Filipino with a Hawaiian twist if you hadn't discerned it from their name. They have a build-your-own-combo grindz menu that you can pick a couple of proteins with rice options or check out the picture menu if you really don't know what to get. My wife went for the combo of Pork Adobo & Garlic Butter Shrimp with Mac & Green Salad, both very flavorful choices. Her friend went double pork action with Chinese Roast Pork Belly & Calamansi Grilled Pork Belly and Pancit Bihon Noodles as her side. The Chinese roast pork belly was as crispy good as any I've seen in any Chinatown. My Seafood Trio had a Miso Glazed Salmon Fillet, 3 Baked Mussels, 2 Shrimp Tempura and topped with Kaboyaki sauce & Thai Chili Aioli. The Shrimp were not the typical panko coated but battered and tasted good drizzled with the 2 sauces. The mussels are topped with a heavy cheesy mayo sauce and baked. Of course, it wouldn't be a Hawaiian plate lunch without a scoop of white rice and a scoop of mac salad. All this wasn't enough and our friend went back to chat with the chef and came back with a double serving of banana lumpia in crunchy spring roll wrap and drenched in heavy syrup. This was an excellent dessert and wrap up to a great lunch. We were so stuffed, we had to skip dinner!

Both were unique and outstanding. The quesabirria tacos have a beef filling and the taco comes with a broth for dipping. There is so much flavor in them! The mahi tacos have large pieces of fish and lots of toppings. The fish was so fresh. Linda knows what she is doing! Two tacos each was also plenty of food for us. I did not eat the food there, but the little food truck park where Linda's is located has lots of shaded tables. There are fly fans if you need them and spray bottles to clean a table, if needed. Everything felt very neat and clean to me and the trucks have planters in front of them to green things up. Well worth the stop to have a bite or take something away.

Inspired by Grandma Linda's cherished recipes, the owners first opened up shop in Lahaina. Following the fires, they relocated centrally and recently just found a new home at the Tambayan Corner food truck lot in Kahului. They serve all the typical Mexican greatest hits of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and a small lineup of bebidas (drinks). On warm days, I've enjoyed their ube horchata which is one of their more unique offerings. It's just the right balance of creamy sweetness to cool you down. I've also had their quesabirria tacos, which are tasty and satisfying. I just wished the consommé had a bit more depth of flavor -- the kind where you know the meat has been stewing for hours and hours. Overall, whether you're in the mood for a quick taco fix or a refreshing drink, Linda's Kitchen is a good spot when the craving for Mexican food hits.

I like the new location definitely easier for people to get to as the last location was upstairs with no elevator. One thing that has not changed is the food is still just as good if not even better than before. On this trip we had the Lunch Special which was the Waygu loco moco that came with white rice and Mac salad and two eggs over easy. The Wagyu burgers were perfect not over seasoned and the eggs were perfectly cooked. Still runny on the inside. I had the mis fish which was an ahi today. I liked the fact that the Miso was not overwhelming they got them mix perfect and the broccoli was perfectly cooked and it came with a scoop of white rice. Everything was perfectly done and just the right amount of food. The price is still reasonable for the quality of the food you are getting and the service was great even though there was only one waitress and she was doing double duty as hostess. She was very pleasant and the service is some of the best I have had on Maui. I like how the new place has a nice local feel while having that new but welcoming aura. I will definitely be going back because I like to support local and these guys are making some great food for reasonable prices. I definitely recommend these guys and I will definitely be going back. So much more menu items to try.

Might not be for everyone but the dressing was on point and it had some fund ingredients. 2) Lobster dynamite 4/5 - these are baked rolls which were super tasty. I just wish they hadn't put so much of the cream sauce on top. 3) Korean chicken and tutu karen okra's dry mein 5/5 - the chicken was on point and the noodles are (as listed) a bit on the drier side but it all goes well together. I would definitely go back and try the other dishes + their lunch menu!

Aloha fellow BES' Kine Goodies Seekers!…read more I LOVE MANUELA MALASADAS so.stop by every time I go to Costco! They are right across the street so I may drive to the lot right next to the truck or just run across the street ! It's a cute, very clean food truck right off the hotel driveway & parking lot with parking stalls right near it in case you buy a bunch to take home. Or have a car full of luggage from your flight to Maui since it's just down the way from OGG airport. Malasadas put donuts to shame!!! ESPECIALLY if you like gooey fillings & toppings. My favorite ones are around Christmas but they have tons of regular fillings. I can never get less than three because I can't pass up my chance to try new ones. They have wonderful staff... especially the manager Sabrina...really know their way around dough and they do not scrimp on the Malasadas itself or the fillings! They ONLY cook just for you... so plan a few minutes wait but they have picnic tables under a tarp right there or you can walk around the other food trucks. But definitely at least take your first bites there while they're hot out of the frier!!! 'Only ONE piece of advice: ... G O. H U N G R Y !!!! ...
