As a jazz lover and credentialed photo/journalist familiar with the DMV, I love the performers who are booked at the Keystone Korner but their food is another matter altogether! First, they have a minimum 2 entree PLUS 2 drink policy and a mandatory 20% gratuity which makes it hard to get out without spending $100 but to add insult to injury many of the menu items are over-priced and under-served. I order a shrimp appetizer and was expecting at least a half dozen and got shorted at 5, and what appeared to be a solid salmon with mango was a complete disaster as they served huge chunks of unripe mango the size of a chicken nugget with wedges of lemon in the salad which was impossible to finish. The worst twist was at the start of the meal when we ordered water with lemon wedges and the server brought 3 bottles of Saratoga "Still" water with 28 ounces each, when 1 bottle could have done the job. And at least one of the screw topped bottles was already opened and only had a third of a bottle of water in it! We complained to management, but they refused to deduct the over-priced water ($8) from our final check! I've been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years and where I come from, the customer is always right! But not at Keystone Kortner! read more

In early February I learned Stanley Parker was going to play a Tribute show of Jimi Hendrix music. I bought premium tickets for the show on 2/28/25. When we arrived at Keystone Corner, I was faced with stairs to go into the club. As I use a walker, my wife and I had to carry it up the steps. My wife asked the man that greeted us about a handicapped entrance. They have one he said, down the street. When asked why they didn't have a sign on the door, he didn't have an answer. Keystone Corner IS NOT HANDICAPPED FRIENDLY. I had downloaded the tickets for the show on my phone. When I showed the electronic tickets to the employee behind the counter, he called a man who I believe was the manager over. The manager said the show was cancelled. I told him that I had not received an email from the ticketing company they use. I'd never seen a reputable ticket company not send a cancellation notice to ticket holders. The manager then said, "We sent an email on 2/21/25. Look in your junk mail folder." I rarely look in my junk folder. That's why it's there, to keep junk mail out of my inbox. The club knows that their emails end up in spam or junk folders. They simply don't care. At this point we decided to stay and have dinner. That was a mistake. After we sat down a waiter came right over to see if we'd like water. My wife said yes, and he came right back with it. That was the last time we saw him for the next 15 minutes. After she flagged him down, he came back and took our drink order. We waited for about 10 minutes to get those. The club was about half empty. There was no reason for the delay. We decided to leave and have to flag the waiter down again to get the check. There was a 20% gratuity added to it. For terrible service, you still pay it. This was the worst experience I've ever had attending a musical performance at any type of establishment. I will never go to Keystone Corner again. Terrible manager, waiters and staff. Parking sucks but has nothing to do with the establishment. Just be prepared to pay for parking in a garage or on the street and walk. The location is easy to find and I was greeted immediately upon entry. The hostess has a list of people who paid and can access it by name so don't worry about printing your ticket or your phone dying! He's got you! The ambience is as expected from a Live jazz music establishment..... dim lighting, intimate, quiet, clean and key word discreet. It was the type of vibe for jazz lovers and I loved it. I could tell by the vibe almost the only people who entered had an appreciation for the environment and especially the music or they wanted to learn how to have it. I learned personally celebrations with large groups shouldn't go unless everyone knows to respect the band (yes it was my crew) but lesson learned. There should be no birthday toasts or singing happy birthday during the performance of the artists so if u want this don't come. It disrupts others ppl enjoying the music and ambience. The food, drinks and service were good! Even my boring beet salad was superb! The bathrooms were decent. All average but not horrible at all. It gave me a good New Orleans and Philly vibe. Only thing I could compare it to but awesome. There was a coat check available upon check in. Keystone is where it's at, as far as live jazz music in the DMV! I had such a pleasurable experience when I came here to see Butcher Brown a jazz band out of Virginia. The tickets were only $25 and they also provide streaming tickets for customers who rather not come in person. The food is delicious! Oysters on the Shell fresh. Crab sandwich and fries perfect all lump crab cake. Deviled eggs very good and the presentation was beautiful. The acoustics is on point, it's a medium sized restaurant club, so anywhere you sit is a good seat, but you may not be able to see the stage. This did not bother me one bit. We were in the back boppin' and enjoying the food and cocktails. Oh and customer service was A-OK. Parking was easy a garage attached to Wholefoods was steps away. I would recommend getting there an hour early if you want priority seating near the stage. It was only two weeks until I bought tickets for another show later this month-that's how much I enjoyed it! After the show the artists walk around and greet the customers. We got pictures with one of the band members. Now where else can you do that at?! read more

I have wanted to visit this Jazz Restaurant for a while now, and I decided to go on Friday night. I purchased a premium ticket and arrived around 6:30 PM. I was greeted in a friendly manner and felt welcomed by the hostess immediately. The tables toward the front are reserved for premium ticket holders but are shared. Since I was alone, I decided to sit at the bar. I was not comfortable sitting with strangers. The atmosphere was cozy and groovy, and I was excited to be there. The bartender, Liz was busy but VERY attentive and provided exceptional service. Everything on the menu looked delicious. I ordered the following: Beet Salad Spiced Shrimp Butter Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream Sweet Red Wine The Beet Salad was delicious. However, the red beets were not cooked well-done. The yellow beets were cooked to perfection, and the pickled onions added great flavor. The Shrimp Cocktail was just okay but they did not give enough of the homemade cocktail sauce. I love this place! Great service, food was amazing, and perfect ambiance. I highly recommend getting your tickets far in advance. Also avoid table 41, the ac was dripping water on us the entire time . We informed the staff but they told us it was condensation and there was nothing they can do about it. Checked out Keystone Korner for the first time Friday night to see Kenny Barron Trio w/ Kiyoshi Kitagawa & Jonathan B. They were great! The bar observes a quiet policy during the show so keep that in mind. I recommend early arrival so you can have a choice table. We paid for regular tickets but if you upgrade to premium seating (about 10$ more) you'll have a much better sight line to the stage. We had a table for four and two of the seats were facing a screen, not the stage. The food is a bit spendy (30$ish for the blackened salmon I had, 28$ for mussels). We had to flag down a server for serving spoons and plates for the platter of mussels that four people were sharing. The food was acceptable but not spectacular. Might be more reasonable to have dinner first elsewhere and then have drinks here. All in all I would check this place out again. Cool for a grown and sexy date night. read more

Oh how I've missed live music during the pandemic... well, this place does it and does right! I went for an evening show. The restaurant was at probably 10% capacity with lots of social distancing measures in place. Tables were spaced very far apart and when people were not actively putting food in their mouths, almost everyone kept their masks on (between bits as well). This made me feel very comfortable. The food- of course I ordered the oysters (chincoteague... delectable). They were fresh and full. I also got the kale Caesar salad. The dressing tasted like it was made in house. First impressions are everything.. Myself and friends purchased higher price tickets to see Keith Washington.. Well, when we got there we were told that the show was sold out.. ok great. And that we did not have premium seating because it was first come. What wait a minute, I purchased a ticket closer to the stage, but now I'm told that it no longer exists and nothing. They provided no compensation on anything, so I paid to that extra money for nothing and no one cared. I tried contacting the next week day.. My issue was not resolved, they didn't care. A concert I was supposed to attend in March was rescheduled to this past weekend, so I found myself at Keystone 10/24. On entry, my friend and I had our temperatures checked, then we were seated. I really dug our booth in the back, as it was a good distance away from other folks and it had a good view of the stage. Our waitress was pretty great, very attentive. She politely informed me I had to wear my mask when not eating or drinking, which was fine with me, I just didn't know. She took our drink order and eventually our food orders. We both went with the burger, but missed the VERY IMPORTANT detail that the burger didn't come with ketchup, but a tomato jam. That jam actually ruined the burger for me, but I ate it anyway. I definitely feel the servers should warn people about it AND it should be highlighted on the menu. It was waaaay too sweet for my liking. Otherwise, the burger was well prepared, the accompanying fries were just fine, and there was a pickle! Payment was easy and I'd say overall, good experience! read more

The inside is large, not very fancy, but decent. I went on a Sunday evening for a live band experience. The band was good. The butter cake was good, but I felt like it wasn't enough ice cream provided even though the pic looks like two baby scoops were provided. I would like to give this place 1 star for the lack of air conditioning and 1 star for the wait time for ordering drinks. Anytime a customer is seated, not moving and is hot, that is a problem that needs to be fixed. There were songs I would have danced to, but didn't want to risk passing out due to the lack of cool air smh It took about 30 minutes to get one drink SMH The waiter stated the bartender is backed up. It appears they have one bartender, which is a bad business decision on a packed live band night. I would like to overall rate this place as 2 stars, but because it was all the way horrible, I decided to give them 3 stars. I don't know if I will be back... I guess if the other live band businesses are sold out, I might return. By the way, parking is a nightmare. Street parking is hard to find. I think there is a garage down the street. read more

So exciting to hear great jazz (the Joey DeFrancesco Trio) in a large, classy, venue with great food! Special thanks to our friendly server Megan for her attention. We enjoyed all of our food and drinks. The deviled eggs were tasty, but stuffed awkwardly high, and there were only 3 of them, which made sharing them between two people difficult. The char-broiled oysters are solid, and the shrimp with grits are exemplary, with a nice level of spice and grits that aren't polenta. The crab cake sandwich is also quite good. Sure there are better crab cakes in Baltimore, but Keystone Korner's is light, tasty without the Old Bay that is overwhelming in so many otherwise good ones, and the house fries that come with it are good, so I'd consider getting it again when we return, which I hope will be soon, and perhaps for jazz guitar great Pat Metheney. read more

The food was great, service was excellent, and music was great. Only issue is that we had an older gentleman come up to us and tell us that we need to be quiet as there is a no talking policy. Not sure how he even heard us over top of the music but we weren't even loud. Also, I heard others in the back talking and laughing. I believe he singled us out. Took my wife here for a live show for her birthday. Decent time but not going back. If you are 50 plus... this is for you! Go! Service was overwhelmed, so they were slow and we didn't get to get our dinner order in before the show started. Get the premium seats because everything else feels like you are in the peaking through the windows. Food was ok, but nothing impressive. We got plastic, oysters and the salmon special. Oysters were great but everything else needed more seasoning. My wife, the birthday girl, even had hair on her plate. Eww. However, they were apologetic about it and fixed it with to a new meal quickly But for a night of $100/per person (ticket and food) per night the expectation is higher than average. Ultimately, we have no regrets but it's just not the place for us to go back any time soon. read more

My first visit to Keystone. Some musician friends, including a drummer who plays with Greg Hatza and others strongly recommended watching Hatza in person. This is a nice venue. I bought a ticket for "premium" seating which was just a couple bucks more. I landed a seat at a table right in front of the stage. Keystone offers a limited menu and Courtney was my server. Very courteous, professional and efficient. I ordered a burger topped with cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato and their Mac and cheese. Along with a coke. The burger, served with fries was fantastic! The mac and cheese was very good. The highlight of the evening was the show. Greg Hatza is the master of the Hammond B3 replicated by a Viscount console. He was accompanied by guitar, sax and drums. An amazing experience! There were two other guests at the table: one who went to Towson University with Hatza and another fan who mentioned Hatza is organist at a church in Sandtown. The show was well attended and well worth the expense. The worst experience? Parking. I made the error of parking in a garage across the street in a building that houses a Whole Foods and condos. Parking was $25 which made the evening a little pricey for yours truly. There are cheaper garages close by running $4 to $10 after 4pm. That said, I need to do my due diligence and walk an extra block or two. I'll be back in June to check out Carl Filipiak and his cool jazz quartet June 9. Their first public gig since the pandemic. And I may need to get my fill of Hatza at the church he serves. Incredible talent and Keystone Korner is the perfect venue for jazz and a pre show meal. Go! read more

We were seated about 45 min before our show; however, it took almost 30 min for the waiter to acknowledge our table. He had quite the load of tables though so we understood and he was apologetic. The food was good; I only wish it came out sooner into the evening / performance. Also, our pumpkin cheesecake with honey cinnamon ice cream, though delicious, came out with our dinner, which was odd and caused the ice cream to melt before we could get to it. The menu options are for those that eat pork( skip the Ribs they were tough as nails- Per guest) but the vegan tacos were good (try them). Service was extremely slow due to them being under staff, the reason for the 4 stars. We had Corey for our waiter and he was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu options. If you love live music, give this place a try! The musicians were amazing!!! They played with passion and you could tell they loved what they do! The food too was pretty good. I really liked the eggs starters and their sweet potato fries. I do think the menu needs more options... and the portions were not enough for the price. As for service, our server was great, busy but attentive. The host was great too. He checked in on tables to make sure everything's ok. I appreciated that! We purchased premium seats but arrived just before the show started. Get there early or you might not get good seats!! Also, turns out you need to make special reservations to sit by the semi circle booth area. Keep that in mind. The hostess was still able to let us sit there (maybe there was cancellation?). Had a fabulous time at Keystone Korner this weekend. We saw the George Coleman Quartet and it was such an amazing performance. Food - 5/5 we got the brisket sandwich (w/out the mozz) and omg it was serious some of the most tender, melt in your mouth brisket I've had. The fries were also flavorful and well seasoned. Could have been a touch crispier, but I ate every single one so certainly am not complaining. The mussels portion was huge and came with a small loaf of sliced bread. The size of this portion would be great for a group of 4. Drinks - 5/5 we got manhattans and dirty martini's and they were poured perfectly. Ambience - Great vibes. Our show started at 7, but we read to get here early so we arrived at 6 which was perfect. Only 4 other tables had been sat by then, so we got a nice table with a pretty decent view of the stage (we booked regular tickets, not premium). And when the show started everyone was respectful of the policy to keep conversation to a minimum. It was so nice. Service was also great, I think us getting there so early gave us an advantage. It's a restaurant, a bar and a venue and they showcase different artists. It's pretty spacious on the inside and has a slightly upscale food menu. We saw the Stirng Queens perform and it was good vibes all around. The servers did a great job taking orders and allowing us to keep focus on the performance. They were very busy and handled it well. Can't believe that I slept on this spot for so long! I've passed it by to check out so many other places in the area, but finally made the way here. My friend and I came out to see The Baylor Project which was quite an experience. Just imagine a supreme jazz performance in a cozy warm environment with exceptional acoustics. Very very nice! We took in a 10:00 show with fewer people attending, so the experience was fairly intimate. There are literally no bad seats in the place, so you can enjoy the show from pretty much anywhere in the space. The food was good. Surprisingly good. We placed an order for vegan tacos and the fish catch of the day. The tacos were tasty blend of roasted vegetables, sprouts and cilantro. And the fish entree was nothing short of delicious. The catch, allegedly, was unicorn fish, which I had no idea even existed. A Google search says that it does so... A nice portion of it was served over shaved Brussel sprouts with a chili glaze. Good stuff. The drinks? Meh. Not much to talk about there. Overall, a very positive dining experience, albeit pricey. But hey, it's all about the experience. I definitely look forward to returning in the near future, to hopefully check out two of my favorite ladies of song- Patrice Rushen and Lisa Fischer. Be back soon! read more

We came here on a pay performance night, entrance fee was $25-35, fortunately we came near the end of the performance, the door person allowed us to enter for free as long as we buy $10 or more worth of drinks, thank you very much :) The atmosphere was respectful, we had René Marie and her group of musicians sing us some of her favorites. A truly fantastic space. I came here pre-pandemic and was stunned at how close I got to be to Regina Carter. Live music is always nice. I had a decent time here. A few tho ha I didn't like. The food was good but was way to expensive for what you get. I know everything is high. It wasn't crowded but it took at least 20 min before we were waited on. And then there's the sound. This particular night we thought the main singer would have a band but it was just her and two others. That was fine. But her sound kept cutting out. It was very apparent that whoever the "sound guy" was had no idea what he was doing. He actually borrowed a flashlight from a patron as he was using his phone to locate the problem. The stage is in the corner of the establishment so there are many many many blind spots. They do have monitors if you happen to sit in one of these blind spots but, you come to see them live not on a TV. They also tried to force us to pay via QR code or something like that. I never trust QR codes to pay. They're easily hackable and did not work. read more

Keystone Korner is a jazz nightclub and restaurant. This was my inaugural indoor outing experience post full vaccination so I was ECXItED!!! The venue is in downtown but closer to the canal and off President. There's a parking ramp a half block down and to the right for $5 Thurs/Fri, and street parking which is metered. We went here on Friday to see Mamu Yusuf and hear work from her new album. We arrived and checked in with the host. They have designated seating you can choose from given COVID so depending on when you get there they seat you front to back. They have a contactless menu you access through your phone. The menu was standard with seafood and some veggie options. I ordered the brussel sprouts and scallops. My sis got the crab soup. We both got drinks and dessert too. The brussel sprouts came out shredded which was an awesome way to serve them. They also had spiced walnuts - an amazing and unexpected touch. The scallops were delicious and came with all the right adds. The music was so much fun and the crowd definitely had to remember how to be a crowd haha. But this place was great for a first time event post COVID lockdown. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

This was karaoke night and it was very entertaining. The mood was great and the crowd was great. My group was having a good time but noticed the waiter/waitress ( Naveon) was not very attentive. We couldn't figure out why even to the point where one of us asked for coffee. When the coffee came it was cold and muddy tasting. We mentioned it to Naveon who seemed to take offense. Not only that but when we needed service, we had to flag Naveon down. Just trying to understand what went wrong. It didn't ruin our time but left us wondering is this what we should expect?
