I want to be generous with my review because it's possible with reopening after being locked down there are challenges with staffing. But I want to reflect the real experience and that's why this is a 3 vs a 4. The service was a challenge. Clearly there was maybe 2 or thinking of it, maybe 1 waitstaff for the whole room - well 1 person taking orders. There were more bringing out food and drinks but it took a long time to get an order placed. Same thing when it came time to get the check. I had to ask for the check and the musical performance had been over as well as any eating I'd done. Otherwise, the food presentation, preparation and flavor were excellent!! Kudos to the chef and kitchen!! One con to this place in terms of the music experience is the placement of the stage. It is in one corner of the restaurant so if you're seated in the other corner the bar obstructs the view and you have to watch on monitors. Sound was also muffled on the singers microphone, not the best. Seating was 1st come 1st serve and they tell you that so no problems there. They sent an email notifying that the event was sold out and it might be best to come early and enjoy the happy hour to get the best seats. Great customer service from that aspect. I was glad to have a table though having been my first time there I was not sure if seating was a part of the ticket purchase. Overall though a decent experience and I would go back. Parking: this is important it's downtown Baltimore. Got lucky and there was one on the street with a meter no more than a block away. Meter was $2/hr with a max of 4 hrs. read more

One of the worst venues I've ever been to for live music, and I've been to many. The layout has many of the seats outside of the viewing range of the stage. There are television screens above bar seating to watch a performance that is happening just feet away but beyond view. You pay almost as much as the top-tier tickets but you can't see the actual performance. Because there are booths behind the bar that are completely outside of the view of anything other than television screens, people talk during the performance. They act as though it is almost coincidental that there are performers; those folks are there to chat and eat. The last time I was there, I sat past the bar in the middle section that does have a view of the stage (although you may need to stretch beyond the rather large pillars that block your view otherwise). The sound was muddy. The bass player's performance sounded like an unclear mess. Also, some genius decided to have a waitstaff station at the end of the bar which means the waitstaff goes up to order and get drinks throughout the performance thus blocking the view of those seated behind them. This won't apply to everyone, but they listed vegan dishes on the menu that they no longer have, so there is little to eat if you don't eat dairy and meat. They require each person to order two items. The side dish of Brussels sprouts without cheese was good. I was there for their opening night with Ron Carter performing and noticed a lot of these problems. The guy who owns/manages it came around to tables to see how patrons were doing. When I pointed out some of these issues he got defensive and said, "Well, it's opening night." But nothing has changed. I would only go back there if it was a performance by an artist that I really wanted to see and couldn't see anywhere else. If you go, get the top-tier tickets, get there early, and get a seat in the middle in front of the bar section. That area only has about five tables though. At least that way you can see the performers, hopefully, have better sound and less visual intrusion from the waitstaff. It's an attractive space, but it's a lousy place to see live music, especially Jazz, which is often acoustic. It's a Jazz club for tourists. They should have made this a dance club with DJs. It's too bad this place has gotten a lot of the acts that used to play at Blues Alley in DC, which is a much better venue. read more

I strictly come here for the jazz. Food is okay, and drinks likewise. Two orders per person rule is a bit ridiculous, and so are the extra fees added to ur total, but the music makes it worth it. I typically eat before coming here and just order drinks and maybe apps. Service is solid too. Would frequent more if it were more budget friendly (maybe just one order person rule?). read more

Jazz, incredible food, and relaxing candlelit vibes? Yes please. Sign me up every time. Keystone Korner is one of my favorite places. I've seen several shows and each time I leave feeling like I've just de-stressed for hours. I always order the mussels in white wine sauce (put that back on the menu please). This time I had the oysters, and an amazing white chocolate bread pudding my server recommended- to die for! The staff are very helpful with seating and getting you comfortable. First time at this club was to see the great guitarist, Pat Metheny. I have now seen shows programmed by the veteran jazz producer, Todd Barkan, at the original Keystone Korner in SF, the luxurious Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Lincoln Center in NYC, and now his new Keystone Korner in Baltimore. The food and drinks are top notch here. I had the crab cake sandwich with excellent fries, but everything else looked great. The acoustics and atmosphere are wonderful. Do NOT come here if you want music as a background to conversation. There is a quiet policy during shows (Yay!). However, the room was obviously not designed as a jazz club from the get-go. The stage is set back from the main room and there is a huge bar in the middle that impedes the view of about 2/3 of the audience. As a result, they've put up large hi-def screens all over the place with a stationary view from in front of the stage. Get there early if you want a direct sight line to the stage. read more

We had a great time last night seeing the Bill Charlap Trio. The ambiance at this venue is intimate, laid. back and enjoyable. The service was attentive and prompt. I agree with other posts about the poor location of the stage. There are premium seats where people can see the stage. But, those sitting in the majority of the seats can not see the stage, and they have to see the musicians from TV screens. I have been to Keystone Korner about 13 times since it opened. All of the shows that I attended were musicians playing real jazz, not the smooth stuff. Keystone Korner sends me a weekly email that lists who the upcoming performers will be. I have recently noticed that Keystone is booking less real jazz and more R&B shows and smooth jazz shows than in the past. I guess Keystone has figured out that type of music is what gets the most butts in the seats at the club. read more

If you attend an event at this establishment, PAY WITH CASH! I attended an event on Wednesday. The wait staff charged my card 3 times, totaling $585, for a $291 tab. I now have to wait for my bank to resolve this matter. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! And, I have not been offered anything for my inconvenience. They have been paid not only twice, but my dinner mates have been charged their portion of the bill. Which means, in total, this establishment has received $775 for a $291 tab. Keystone Korner has a great, intimate atmosphere. We really enjoyed the show. It's the perfect date night spot. We got the roasted oysters which were AMAZING. The bolognese was wonderful as well. However, I did not quite enjoy the lobster bisque or caesar salad. The salad needed more dressing tossed in. We also got the butter cake, which was good but too sweet. It would have been better with more ice cream. Overall I'd rate the food at a 7/10, which is a little too low for the price. read more

I visited here for the first time on Saturday for the 7 PM show. We parked in one of the garages listed on the website and the pricing was very reasonable to park. The GPS did have us walk an unnecessarily long way to get to the venue from the parking lot. When we left the venue to go home, we found out that the garage was actually only a straight walk up the street just a few blocks from the venue. Our names were listed at the front door. So they didn't check any tickets. Seating is first come first serve. We had premium seating tickets but ended up in seats in the back probably due to the time we arrived. We did arrive before the show but it appeared that so did a lot of other people. We did still have a great view of the stage though despite being in the back. So that was still good. The Afro Latin band was so good. We all enjoyed our food. I had a caesar salad, devil eggs and a mojito. All was good. Our server did a great job and was very friendly. The food did not take long to be served. During the show, the lights and electricity went out for a bit but it wasn't for too long and the band just kept performing which we appreciated. Also it was very hot and humid inside the establishment. Not sure if it's always like that or if the air conditioner was broken. These things wouldn't deter me from going back though. Place was absolutely great CONCERNING performance. However, wait staff, was sub par! I had to go to the bar to order drinks after waiting 45 minutes for water... and then this place automatically charges 18% gratuity which makes sense, because they know their wait staff isn't the best. This is another "charm city gem". This was date night for thee lady and I, and couldn't have made a better choice. I'll try to give as much detail as possible. (Deep breath) so...you if your purchasing on the website you will see there is a show every night almost. It has pricing as x-$45. Well because they are doing limited seating all seating is the max. seating is first come first serve. They open at 5pm, and you can go in and sit at the bar to have food and drinks (no entry fee) but you have to leave before the show if you are not buying a show ticket. All ticket sales are final (non refundable and non exchangeable via website). Because of that, and this being our first time I chose to buy at the door (same price) to see the vibe and ambiance. So we were aiming for the 7:30 show of diamond cut and wolf. We arrive about 6:15ish. When you go in there are a few steps and to your left there is a host/ cashier. She was very welcoming and informed us of the entry fee. we were escorted towards the seating near the stage. We requested a booth and he gladly obliged. There was a small crowd already seated (about 10 ppl). If you sit anywhere from the middle to the left of the bar (view based on walking into the entrance) your view will be obstructed by the bar and table top seating. We are late 30's and it seem to be that and older mostly, but its jazz and if you like jazz you should already know what to expect. The vibe is cool, laid back, and a great wine down to a long day. It has a nice intimate setting, and when the band begins they dim the lights even more. The menu: so I had read reviews about the chef(s) in the kitchen and the food being really good. The food is definitely pricey for what you get. We decided to treat the night as a one and done and order all that seemed appetizing. For starters we got the spicy jumbo shrimp ($18) with the house made cocktail sauce. Wasn't spicy at all but good. You only get 5 jumbo shrimp. We also ordered the char-broiled oysters ($26 i think). If you have been to new orleans' acme oyster, that bar is set so high, you will never be satisfied. But they were good, you only get 4. For the entree, we got the rib-eye ($36)and the chili glazed beer batter sea bass ($23). The steak needed season, but the sauce and potatoes that come with it were delicious. The fish was excellent as well, it wasn't a sea bass but it was flounder. The fish come with shredded brussle sprouts which was a unique way to prepare them. Oh we also had drinks. She had 2 glasses of wine (wine is wine) and I opted for the baltimore sour (whisky, bitter sours and something else). Honestly the baltimore sour is ($12) and I should have been buzzed drinking 2, but I wasn't. I would stay away from the mixed drinks because I feel they lack on the liquor strength. They do have a lot of choices for wine and beer. So if your good with wine or beer, I would say aim for that (they're about $7). Now the baltimore sour was a recommendation from our waiter (jonathan) and he made a great choice, it was lacking the strength (not his fault). He also stated if we're interested in desert to get the butter loaf cake. (Deep breath) I am a pessimist and just new it would be a slice of entenmann's butter loaf with a scoop of ice cream. Na nah nah nahhhhh.lol this butter loaf cake was some kind of cinnamon, crem' bru le', warm home made pound cake, with a scoop of ice cream, and a patch of whip cream, followed by a drizzle design of caramel. That was the highlight. If you work out double up on your cardio so you don't feel guilty eating it. It is THAT good. Our waiter was cracking us up pulling his mask down and hit us with the damnnnnnn (insert craig and smokey from friday) look seeing how fast we devoured it.lmaooo For those sitting at the bar and those who don't have a clear view of the stage, should not have to pay the same price as someone sitting in front of the stage (just my opinion). They do have tv's placed throughout to watch the stage (but you can stream the show at home for $10. So let that sink in). The food is very good but overpriced. I try to understand why, and giving that this is a small place that advertises shows, has to cover the building cost and the cost to have the artist...so I assume this is why everything is overpriced. The only gripe I have that I don't agree with; that needs to be changed, is that they charge you 20% gratuity on all orders (regardless of party size). The website says to support their staffing but as an employer that is your job. Some ppl may not have a budget for an additional 20%. The only reason I knew that is because I was on the website prior to going. They don't tell you in the restaurant and that could lead to an argument or just a negative energy for such a positive atmosphere. All in all, go! You will not be disappointed. read more

This place is a true gem! Baltimore is SO lucky to have it! We live in DC but will travel for great live music! We first visited to see the AMAZING Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton. We've since returned to see Cindy Blackmon, Christian McBride and the inimitable Patrice Rushen (so good, we went back again the following night!). Every single show has been amazing and the tickets are surprisingly reasonable (get the Keystone Kard---sooo worth it!)! And as you can see from the few names I've mentioned, Keystone books the heavy hitters! The space is warm and spacious (unlike many of the older, tiny jazz clubs), the acoustics are great and with TV screens at the bar, there isn't a bad seat in the house! Our server, Myesha, was fantastic! Kris is such a gracious and accommodating host and the owner, Todd, is a living legend!! The food is a bit pricey but what one would expect at a supper club. And it's actually quite good! The last time we were there, someone seated at the bar next to us insisted that we try the Butter Cake. OMG!! Three days later, I am STILL thinking about it!! Now that we've lost Blues Alley in DC (tears), the Keystone Korner will be our new #1 destination for incredible live jazz. It's SO worth the trip! read more

I love jazz and this is one of the few places that offers live jazz. They have different performers every weekend. It's a great way to spend an evening. There are large TV's all over the place that show the performers so you have a view of the performers no matter where you sit. The acoustics are great. No matter where you sit the music sounds terrific. I don't know how they did it. This place is in the middle of the city but I never hear any car horns, I never hear any sirens, while I am inside the jazz club. I usually go to their website to find out who is performing. Most of the musicians have their own website with samples of their music. I usually listen to a few songs to see if I like the music. They really have some great performers. They abide by all the COVID rules and they have plastic barriers between booths so I feel safe even though I am inside. You can sit at the large bar or sit at one of the tables or booths. The owner started the Keystone Korner club in San Francisco. That club goes way back and there are wonderful old pictures of that club on the wall. I think the names of the performers on the marquee show that the club had absolutely the top jazz artists. Definitely worth checking out!! read more

We attended a performance this past Sunday night, upon the recent reopening of Keystone Korner. The trumpeter was really good and the local vocalist he had join him towards the end was amazing (shout out to Christie Dashiell - check her out wherever you can find her). Covid protocols were on point with partitions between booths, tables spaced appropriately and all patrons and employees properly wearing masks. Now that the basics are out of the way, let's talk about the food!!! We were smart enough to ask our waiter what his favorite dishes on the menu were and then went with his exact suggestions - jackpot. We got the baked oysters, asparagus and fingerling potatoes to start. My SO doesn't even like baked oysters and he loved these. Also I'm thinking potatoes can't be anything to write home about, they're... potatoes. Wrong!!! These were possibly the best potatoes I've ever tasted, especially with the accompanying sauce (clearly made from scratch). By this point, I could have stopped eating but we still had an entree coming. And yes, the entree stole the show. The fried black bass over shaved brussel sprouts was exquisitely tender and flavorful. Because we shared the apps and entree, we saved room for dessert. The butter cake with vanilla ice cream was the perfect finish to our meal. Whichever reviewers complained about their food did not have the good fortune of knowing the right menu items to order. If you order any of the dishes mentioned above, you will absolutely enjoy your dining experience! Couple of notes: service is slow so be prepared. Restaurants are having a hard time with staffing right now so just be patient and give them some grave during these difficult times. This is a wonderful establishment unlike any other in the DC Baltimore corridor so let's be supportive. Also their cocktail menu needs some work. I suggest ordering a bottle of wine. read more

So I visited this place to see TAKE 6 at the 9:30 show. The show was a big late and started at 9:45 but the show was amazing. If you have never seen Take 6, you must go and see them. But I was disappointed in the mandatory 20% gratuity for service by Christien W when her service was horrible. So when we were seated, she asked for us to order drinks and we ordered drinks but we wanted to order food, mind you it was only 2 of us. She told us to hurry up. Like if that was not the most unprofessional comment for a server to make to their guest. We ordered and we kept it cool because we had drove over an hour from DC to see the concert. Then the food came fairly quickly. We had the crqbcaje sand1ish with fries and the braised short rib with masked potatoes. Now the meal was good and so was the wine and blue margarita but the waiter never came back unless we flagged her down to order the butter cake, which was bomb as heck, or pay the bill. Now ofc we had to pay the required 20% gratuity but she was not worth it. We should not be required to pay the mandatory gratuity if the service was shitty. IJS. So I recommend the venue and you need to order the premium seating and arrive an hour early to get good seating. But service is absolutely horrible and management should train their staff on great customer service because Christien W needs help! read more

My husband and I went to Keystone Korner for an impromptu performance to see the T.K. Blue & Billy Harper Quintet. The performance was outstanding and a great way to reintroduce ourselves to live performances during the pandemic. The venue handled social distancing protocols well. Our server Jonathan was great! Jonathan gave good recommendations for drinks to enjoy during the performance. Because we had dinner before arriving, we didn't try their starters or entrees, but we did order their signature dessert - butter cake with vanilla ice cream. My husband described the dessert as "a mix of creme brûlée, pound cake, and a crumb cake all in one." It was a must try! The service, performance, and ambiance were all so wonderful, that we signed up on the spot for the venue's Keystone Kard Membership. Can't wait to return for another wonderful live jazz performance accompanied by good service and fare. read more

I was told I had to wait on the stairwell which happened to be 5 stairs away from the doors. Every time someone came in it was a rush of brisk cold air rushing up behind me. We waited on the stairs for a 30mins! Then the show was supposed to be at 9pm but 9:30pm the band definitely made up for the late start and it was wonderful time! read more

And this was a treat. It was not good at all my husband ordered a bacon burger he said it was fine only thing bun needs to accomadate the burger bun was too big i also ordered the shrimp cocktail again disappointed im not sure what they use to season them but both me and husband agreed it was Not It!! Maybe we order the wrong thing? I order a drink but sent that back orange crush way too strong for me and got an angry orchard hubby had three or four beers!! Total 115.40 way too much.
