Rams Head Live is such a fun, energetic, welcoming and lively concert venue. With an easy, efficient and fast check in process, you can expect to enter quickly and be able to enjoy your night to the fullest. From the amazing bartenders to the friendly security and staff, your night will be filled love, respect and positive memories. The food smelled amazing, however, I only drank. This is my first review of this place however, I have been to this venue a few years back. I am a true MJ fan so I was thrilled to come to a Live MJ Who's Bad concert. I was dressed in my MJ outfit excited for the show. When I arrived, the venue was super spacious and filled with true MJ fans. The live band, dancers and musicians were great. The MJ impersonator did an amazing job and I was able to talk to the performers after the show. The sound was top tier. I was able to hear and feel all the music to take me down memory lane of all of Michael Jackson hits. I will absolutely love to return to see this show and the venue. Parking is tight at times in the area however, there is available garages and the metro subway lets you off right on the side of Power Plant where the venue is located inside of. There are a bunch of restaurants and bars around as well for any quick bites after the concert. Great show and I will definitely return 10/10. read more

Staff, very nice and professional. Service at the bar, great. Sound? Abysmal. I went to see the Violent Femmes last night and the sound quality was such garbage we left before the end. How is it possible to mix a full horn section so poorly that they cannot be heard? Ditto for the drums. I'm not saying I want to have my doors blown off but having to take out my ear plugs to hear better is something I don't think I should have to do, especially at a venue charging a hundred bucks a ticket. The mix was so underwhelming and muffled, it was only the excitement of the crowd's love of the band that did not cause a mass exit. It was terrible from upstairs stage left and equally bad standing near the merch table. I won't waste my time and $$$ at Rams Head Live again. read more

We went a few weeks ago for a Pop Punk cover band event. It was our first time and couldn't pass up the cheap tickets. We went right when the doors opened because we were warned it gets pretty busy. I think this event did get crowded, but not as much as we were prepared for. There are plenty of places to stand and some grandstand seating up at the top. We secured a nice space on the second floor by a bar and the restrooms (#old). The one thing I didn't particularly like was that each bar required a tab so we were stuck at this one bar all night so that we didn't forget we had multiple tabs. The bartender was a little rude to my husband, so I took over the ordering duties and she was fine with me. We would definitely come back to another concert here. It's a convenient location and there's plenty of space. read more

3.5 rounded to 4 because overall the place is better than not. Great location and the staff is nice and efficient typically. Depending on the show it can be a bit to get in. Inside is unique but there are some blocked sight lines and us short people have trouble seeing. I know this is a problem at a lot of clubs, but the Anthem proves it can be done. And maybe it's my ears but the sound is not great everywhere so try to be straight out from the stage or it seems quiet or muffled even. They do play great music to fill in between bands. Parking is close and so are some good places to eat (I'm looking at you Underground Pizza.) read more

I went to the Lil Poppa Concert at this venue. I absolutely loved everything about it. The location is perfect. There is ample parking on the street and parking garages nearby. The staff was amazing. Very friendly. While searching my bag the lady told me I smelt great and we shared a few chuckles. The views were wonderful and the vibes even better. I did not get the opportunity to visit the bar because I didn't want to lose my spot at the concert. I will say, I got lost walking out of the venue and luckily my phone told me where my parked car was lol. Overall a great place! read more

Been coming to this venue for years now, and they've never disappointed. There are multiple parking garages nearby that are reasonable for it being downtown Baltimore. It's easy to get through the entrance, as staff are efficient at what they do and are on top of everything. When leaving the venue, just be aware of which exit to go to as there is a 21+ and under-21 exit due to where each exit puts you (by the bars or not by the bars outside the venue). read more

This venue rocks!! It's often listed as one of the best live music venues in the country for good reason. Here are some of the highlights: - Staff are nice - There is a coat check - There is GA seating on the second floor - Plenty of spots to choose from to get a great view of the stage I've been to a couple shows here, and it's always a treat. The location of this venue couldn't be better. There's plenty of covered parking nearby, and there's even a great co-working space (Spark) literally right next door. You can work there during the day and then go to a show right after - which is super convenient! You can even hear the bands sound-checking from inside Spark. There's a will call office that's open 30 minutes before the show, and all day on Fridays. Buying tickets at will call means you don't have to pay convenience fees, which is really helpful if you're a local! As far as the live shows themselves, the sound is great and the level of intimacy is perfect. Really, this is a fairly big venue with lots of space to stand, even though it doesn't feel massive. Overall, I'll always be a fan of Rams Head. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking out a show here at least once! read more

One of their security workers was throwing half frozen water bottles into the crowd during sets. My friend got hit in the face with one and was bleeding everywhere. The management and head of security at Rams Head were huge pricks to him about it when confronted later. I witnessed their security manager telling him that his name was "Haha" and mocking my friend and his injury. Very negligent and disrespectful. read more

Came here for the Floetry concert. This venue is general admission and you have to stand, save for a few seats at the bar at the entrance and a few bar tables with seats. I suggest you get there early to cop these. Entrance was painless with ladies having to have their bags checked and you get your hand stamped (l believe to go in and out). They only had one bar open with ONE bartender...really Rams Head? Of course the line stretched far back so l decided to wait until after the concert started, but by then, l didn't want one. Your loss Rams Head. Parking in downtown Baltimorean is typical, with a number of parking garages and metered street parking available. The show itself was great, but they really need to work on the acoustics there because it kinda sucked. I believe this will be my last show here as l am older and enjoy a good 'ol seat to enjoy my concerts in instead of standing as my dogs slowly began to bark.... read more

We went to Rams Head Live a few weeks back for Mammoth WVH and Dirty Honey. We were expecting a big crowd and it sure was. My wife recently had ankle surgery and is going to be in a wheelchair for six weeks or more. We contacted Rams Head ahead of time about handicapped access. They were wonderful. As requested, when we arrived, we asked for a manager at the front admission. A young man escorted us to the elevator in the hall outside the venue, up to the second floor where weirdly we went across the parking deck, in a back door behind the bar and into the venue on the second floor. There was an area roped off on the left side of the stage where we joined another group who required special assistance, and a couple we assumed were vip's. The bartender was also great, she let me start a tab and remembered me as I got beers and cokes all night. Both bands were very professional, started and ended on time. At the end of the night, I squared up my tab, left a big tip. The employee who walked us up escorted us back down. We went to the ground floor, decided to go back in the front to buy tee shirts and got in and out without any trouble. Thanks Rams Head for making it a great night! We're looking forward to our next visit. Did I mention that because Rams Head is not a Live Nation venue that there was no outrageous service charge? I think our two $35 tickets set is back only $80 or so. And with validation or parking was only $5. It was a great night. Thanks again. BTW, we had been to Rams Head Live three or four times in the past, for Styx, Hall and Oates, and Allmighty Senators/Egypt. We had a great time every time. read more

Why does a new company get to use the name Rams Head when it's clearly NOT owned by Ram's Head anymore??? This place used to be part of the Ram's Head Group (family-owned), but was bought out by a large corporate media conglomerate. I'm not anti-corporate ownership as a rule. If it's a decent corporation, then it may not always be a bad thing, but things go usually south when it goes from family-owned to corporate. This place is no exception. Ticket prices were inflated. It may be that the corporate sponsorship can attract larger acts, but Ram's Head never had an issue bringing top talent to their shows. The stage is nice, but the bar is overpriced, & there were no places to sit for the show I saw (they were cordoned off). I saw STP there...well almost. Man, oh man, I love live club concerts. I've been to a few I'll never forgot. Something about being in closer quarters and the freedom to move around and dance (or just sway) while enjoying a drink makes me more in tune with the artists on stage. I was lucky to score a free ticket to see Raphael Saadiq (RayRay of Tony! Toni! Tone'!- had to look the sp up!) from one of my chicas bc her sis sings back up. It was packed! Yeah, we sure do love us some 90's throwbacks, huh? And this show surpassed my expectations. I got to hang backstage, grab some food (meh) and enjoy my cocktails while listening to a prolific artist. RayRay killed it! The sound was amazing and his voice filled up the spot, so I didn't notice any acoustical issues. Only thing is I wish I had gone out to the stage area before they went on to try and find us some stools. It was cool how folks lined them up around the balcony on both levels. It was definitely easy to see the stage from that vantage point. However, me and my girl had to look over people's heads until we decided to head down to the lower level and catch a side view. All in all, a great saloon-like venue. Very clean with monitors all around the bar, even the bathrooms were tidy and bright. I would definitely go back. Ladies, just be sure to wear comfy shoes just in case you can't find a stool! read more

I went to the Rams Head Live box office located at 20 Market Place today (2/23/2024) to purchase a Kid Capri Day Party ticket and their was no one available at the box office (all the windows were down). The website says that the box office is open on Fridays from 10:00 to 6:00. I went there at 3:30 and 5:00 and no one was available both times. When I called the main number, the voicemail message came on, but the mailbox was full and I was unable to leave a message. There was 3 other people trying to buy tickets and they were just as confused as me. This is very unprofessional for a major venue to post their hours of operation and no one is available during those times. It's already hard to find parking, but to find parking and no one is there to sell tickets is a big inconvenience. Please do better with communication to the public is the box office is going to be closed on a day when it's scheduled to be open. read more

Amazing venue in a great location within Baltimore. There's a beautiful plaza right outside Ram's Head bustling with people... it includes a beer garden, restaurants, and live music. The venue itself is really accessible with cheap parking nearby, and there are five bars throughout. I saw Still Woozy perform and he's the best performer I have ever seen.. thanks to the way Ram's Head is laid out, I got such an intimate view of him and his band! read more

I had my first visit to this Rams Head location last night for the Tears for Fears concert. I will admit, seeing a band like TFF is probably an entirely different experience than say a Megadeath-type group - no moshing, the sound quality was perfectly clear, etc. So keep that in for my particular review. Parking was incredibly convenient. There's a garage in the same building as the venue with a $14 maximum. Access to the Rams Head is a quick elevator ride away - yippeee! If you get there early, you can grab a bite to eat at any of the nearby restaurants, and even bring the food back to the Rams Head to eat if you'd like. The drinks at the bar are well-made, well-priced and the bar staff is really nice. Depending on the number of concert-goers, you might want to take advantage of paying an extra $10 dollars to get into the bar area (dubbed the "Rockstar Entrance") early and get a number that will allow you to be let into the venue just before the doors open. This will allow you a few precious moments to stakeout your spot - again, if it's not a popular show or you don't care where you stand, then this isn't necessary, but I wanted to be as close as possible, so we paid the extra money, chilled with drinks at the bar, and were among the first five to enter the venue. Awesome because - as it turns out - the place was packed! There are three different levels affording most everyone a great view of the performers. At one point, Roland Orzabal commented that he felt like a 'cell under a microscope' because the crowd on the upper levels was so close. Those directly across from the stage on the upper levels were a bit further back, but still had a great view. However, if you were standing up there and were vertically challenged and not within the first few rows of people, I can imagine it would be a bit frustrating. As mentioned before, the sound quality was really good for our show. I was right in front of the bass speaker and expected to be blown away. To the contrary, the bass was perfection, and hearing 'Mad World' performed live was like cuddling up to my boombox and turning the dial to WHFS while recording my latest mix-tape directly from the radio. (You know we all did it!) I didn't get any food, so I can't comment on that. And I did find it strange that the merchandise booth was stuck in a small corner without much view. There was a bit of a clusterf*ck towards the end of the show when people were trying to buy items. It did clear out rather quickly however, and rather than trying to rush people out of the venue like some places do, the Rams Head seemed to turn into a bar and let people hang out and enjoy the DJ and finish their drinks. Again, we had no problems with staff/bouncers at all. So in general, yes, I'd return to the Rams Head Live. I recommend getting there early, tho', and would actually recommend getting a spot on the second level so you can take pictures with a flash (if that's your thing). No pictures using flash from the front row - can we say blurry Roland is just scary! But overall, this is a good venue to enjoy a show...that doesn't induce moshing or death metal shrieking. How early you arrive will have a major impact on your experience. View and acoustics are hiiighly variable. It's not even that hard to be early (depending on the show, obv)--even for packed shows, arriving less than an hour before doors has put me in the front row, elbows on stage, purse tucked under the stage skirt (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/2r1sTEZvlYDGNZG639H5zQ?select=TohHhvZfsSC61JhS35-TVQ). So worth it. Of course, that means forgoing the bar, but, nothing a little pre-gaming can't solve. There's a bunch of bars around with outdoor seating, from which you can keep an eye on the Rams Head doors. I'm also only giving 3 stars because the social environment here isn't as welcoming as I'd like in a club concert, maybe a function of the huge variability in quality depending on location. It just hasn't given me that we're-all-in-it-together feel; more like a "I'm just here with my own friends and I'm not budging an inch from my standing area, which is 1-inch closer to the stage than yours." Great venue with an awesome layout and staff to match!!! My girlfriend and I joined another couple for the yungblud show last month, entrance was hard to find on maps but once we got in we had an amazing time. The front security was very kind and understanding as I fumbled my tickets and proof of vaccination, the bartenders were fast and equally amicable, and the venue management was quickly and effectively responsive to a couple of guests passing out. This is a great performance space for small bands and lesser-known artists. There are good views all around, especially from the upper levels. I especially loved that a part of the floor is uneven, at a slight angle facing the stage so your view is not blocked by taller people. There are also multiple screens placed strategically around the bar areas so you can watch the show from every corner of the venue. The bartenders and staff here are also very friendly and pleasant. The only thing that might need some improvement is the sound system and/or acoustics. I was watching the show from the 2nd level and I felt like the sound didn't reach all the way up. read more

Went to see We The Kings the other day with a friend. This was our first time coming here so we didn't know what to expect. At first I was worried because I'd only been to Merryweather Post Pavillion so when they say doors open at a certain time that means there will be a ton of people rushing for the lawn. I was pleasantly surprised to find a great spot one level up right in the middle. This was about half an hour after doors opened which was great. The food was priced alright. I got the chicken tenders and fries for about 9$? I thought the food was pretty good. For 29$ for the night, it really surpassed my expectations. Also, I got stuff signed by a couple members in We the Kings and got a drum head from Breathe Carolina (part of the line up.) Which was totally awesome and unexpected. read more

Fun small venue. Gets crowded but because of the multiple levels you could see the bands playing from the different floors and angles. I do agree with another reviewer about the temperature in the place. As bodies move in and crowd it it goes from cold to just sweltering. Drinks are so expensive. But the staff seemed very attentive and there were many bars and restrooms. The restrooms had a very extensive treats and great service. This small standing only venue has a certain charm and is located in the heart of the Inner Harbor. Parking is close and vouchers make it affordable at 10 dollars. All ages are allowed in but beware they will mark your minor with GIANT Permenant Marker 'X's' on both hands! Good selection of beer and a couple big bars make getting drinks easy. Food service gets one lonely star though. We went to get a bite before the show and they ran out pizza and fries (their only food offerings other than 'pretzel bites') long before the show even started. Very spacious venue, I came here based of a advertisement I saw on Yelp. Tuaca liquor company sponored Drinks and Ink. Cool concept great crowd and the DJ was awesome. The thing I really like about RamsHead Live is the amount of space they have. I didn't get a good look at the upper level it was closed but the lower level was industrial chic ( if there is some such thing). The stage was a good 10 feet off the floor, so anywhere you stood you have a great view. There are at least 3 bars on the lower level so there is plenty of room for you to get your libations on. I saw Belle Game and Broken Social Scene here two nights ago. However, this wasn't my first visit here. The last time I visited was in 2016 for Lucius. The bands were good, I liked them more than when I saw them in September at 930 Club in DC mostly due to features unique to this venue. Specifically, you have so many good vantage point options here. I had a particularly good one, on the second level. You see, this is very important when you're short. This show was not quite as crowded as the show I saw in DC either, so that helped me get a nice balcony view. I was alone, so no drinking for me, but plenty of options. It honestly reminds me of 930 Club in a way. I entered from Frederick Street. Not that I had much choice because there was another show in the area and it was very, very crowded and busy. There was also a metal show at Sound Stage nearby, so it was ultra crowded. Parking was easy...again, so many options in this area. I parked at Harbor Park Garage. I forgot to validate my parking, and paid the full $15 though. I entered from Lombard Street and I exited that way, pretty straight forward. I generally despise how crowded this area is, but if another show I'm interested in comes to Rams Head Live, I'd definitely return. read more

Quick bar staff, Baltimore peeps are really friendly in a crowded rock scene, no wonder they call this place Charm City. Even when I'm taking my asinine concert pics on my phone, people would duck not to block the pic as they walked by, now that's nice of them and hence Baltimoreans are tops in my book. So this was my fourth time here. I have seen quite a few artist so I have mixed feelings about this venue. I am going to start off with the positive. The Lighting and sound here is amazing. I really enjoyed every show here and I would really go again. I am not that happy about parking. When I am here I have two choices... Leave early and get out the parking lot peacefully. or plan to spend a few hours in the parking garage. Just call an uber next time So the next thing is the line. When the Venue first open the line looks like Wal-mart on black Friday. The line went pretty fast.. But.... I don't really do lines... They need more seats here. Concerts are normally during a work week and me standing up teaching all day and going to a concert that night wasn't the greatest. It was also hard fighting over a space to see. I had so many people ask to come up and ask if they could see? HOW SWAY? I need ANSWERS..... I am standing right here... So you mean to tell me you want me to move out my space for you? You have to get here early and fight for a space... I may stick to the Baltimore Arena. or the Verizon center. I have to give my feet a break especially if I wear heels. And if you have on your So Kate's you minus well just plan a funeral for your feet. read more

I've been to a lot of shows at a lot of different venues, and Rams Head is near the bottom of my list. - Absurd fees through their ticket partner AXS (we're talking almost 50% of the ticket face value). - Poor sight lines and drowned out sound unless you're right in the pit or on the balcony rail. - Terrible beer selection that's ridiculously overpriced ($9 Bud Lights...what is this, a Ravens game?) It's a shame so many acts stop here for their Baltimore tour dates, but it's the only venue in the area with a large enough capacity. For smaller shows, I greatly prefer Soundstage or Ottobar. read more

Decent venue. Came here for a show last Wednesday and it was a lot of fun. Highlights: - Smaller sized Venue. They have a General Admission (GA) and Upstairs Balcony sections. - Acoustics were OK. Not the best comparing to other similar sized venues, but def still good. - 2 Bars are open on the main level, coat check and 1 main entrance - Parking is available in the nearby parking garage located in the "Circle" for $15 on evenings. It was easy in and easy out. - Chicken Rico (Peruvian Chicken) and 7-Eleven are convenient nearby. Also plenty of nearby bars. Okay, so after reading the many reviews, I was surprised by the many negative comments. I will review this as a concert goer....and someone with a good ear. Rams Head rocks! I read somewhere, this is no 9:30 club, but really....the two are not comparable (at the 930 I feel like I need handsanitizer everywhere I go and touch and a full size body condom to protect me from nasty iccky). On sound: Perhaps your favorite artists sound people didn't have a clue to what they were doing. The venue is safe, and since 2005 I have been a regular patron of select shows. I have seen Ratdog (a few times), MMW, The Machine, Zappa plays Zappa, The Mars Volta, and plenty of other shows of various genres and I must say that the sound in this place is fantastic, however, the bands sound people must understand the acoustics of the place. I found it that the best sound on the main level are to the sides of the sound board, and in front of the bar, upstairs just about anywhere... As far as safety goes, I have seen only one fight...and it was two idiots who sucker punched each other and both wound up getting tossed....this happened so fast no one really noticed any skirmish except security who were on it like they had know it was about to go down (and that was at Zappa???) Beers....well I have been completely sloshed here before and have been completely sober at other times. Food: well its food, goes in one end...comes out the other. This everyone will say different things about, as we all have different tastes. Do realize that this is a concert venue, and not Wolfgang Puck's joint. It is glorified bar food, with live bands playing in the background. Parking: well this is the best as you can park right upstairs and take an elevator to the side/front entrance. In my opinion....this makes the 9:30 club seem like a college attempt, and Jaxx (in VA) seem like a High School production. Saw Iron and Wine here last night, and I liked it overall. The sound was decent, but as we were sat at the bar off to the side of the stage and could (impressively) still see Sam Beam and crew, I wasn't expecting to be floored by the sound quality. Given the soft demeanor of Beam's music, I would have liked if the bartenders would zippen das lippen during the show for those at the bar. A good example of how to do a chatty bar area is the 9:30, the Black Cat, RNR, Velvet Lounge or any other D.C. venue that has a main chamber for shows and another floor with a bar for drunk talk. The place was clean and our bar tab was half of what it would have been in D.C. ($45). They sell food (hot dogs, pretzels, etc.) and that fare is nut allergy-friendly to boot. The TVs placed around the bars were cool for those who didn't feel like standing and gawking in a bustling crowd. Props to the bathroom attendant who suggest I sneak a fag break in the back of the lady's room so I didn't have to freeze to death outside. I love Iron and Wine so the venue is secondary here.
