We visited this bar, both upstairs and downstairs, during a concert we attended at Power Plant Live. The upstairs was really cool - a nice bar area with couches, chairs, tables, and stools at the bar. My ONLY negative comment is that the music at the bar was SO loud you could hardly talk to the person sitting next to you. We love music - but that was a little bit much. Note, this area is for VIP concert tickets only once the music starts (which we didn't have) so we went downstairs about 7:30PM. The downstairs bar area was huge and the bartenders did a great job of making sure everyone was served in a timely manner - despite the huge crowd. The bathrooms were clean, which is always a PLUS at a bar! Looking forward to going back for our next concert in August! read more

Nice outside lounge area, great views of power plant and the city, great drinks, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, awesome outside bar. Didn't try any food but definitely will next time we're at power plant. read more

Love the bartender. He is so cute and he was helpful. Music is so so, but the dj does try to accommodate every genre of music. Plenty of room to dance and they even have VIP areas, not sure how to reserve but if I come to party again I will reserve me a spot! read more

I've been there once for an after party. I didn't have to deal with the swarm of men oogling the bartenders and peering up there itty bitty skirts as they go-go'd ontop of the bar because we had a table and room to move around. My experience was probably a little more "comfortable" than most .. had I been on the floor all night with the sea of men I probably would have wanted to leave. The music was all rock and a mix of mainstream hits which is always a crowd pleaser. Definitely not a fan of Baltimore at all, probably never will be either. But you should go once for the novelty of it all. read more

This is where all the guys go in Baltimore. I wonder why when all the bartenders are dressed in skimpy lingerie and they do the Coyote Ugly by dancing on the top of the bar. It is a huge place and they have a DJ playing music. I wasn't a fan, but I also wasn't drinking and had to deal with the smokey Baltimore bar. I will admit....I am a NYC snob. I am actually ashamed to admit how much I adore this bar. There is definitely a "crowd" here that is decidedly NOT my crowd. But: --No matter when you go or who you're with, you can experience some sort of drink special. --If you're not drinkin' free one night, oblige the lovely scantily-clad lady with the clipboard and sign up your e-mail address. You WILL win a "party." Which involves you drinking for free. --There's always plenty of room and a huge patio...perfect for boozy cigarettes. --Dancing on tables should be mandatory for Women Of A Certain Age. Angels opened its doors at the end of September, 2007 in the middle of Power Plant Live where Have a Nice Day Cafe used to be. It's a great place to go if you want to go dancing, but aren't in the mood for house music, or the standard Top 40/Hip Hop you hear in Federal Hill...or anywhere else for that matter. There is a huge space for dancing, as well as some seating on the outskirts and outside, which is great when the weather is cooperating. There are three bars: one outside, one right in the center of the space inside, and one just inside the door. The bar also offers bottle service in their VIP section. The bartenders are generally friendly and helpful, though when it gets crowded it's sometimes hard to get their attention. And once in awhile, they'll get up on the bar and dance--Coyote Ugly style...only they're not all as hot as the ladies from the film ;) I've been to Angels a couple of times now, and I really like the atmosphere. I don't know that it's a place I'd want to hit up every weekend, but it's awesome when you're amped to dance to loud rock music :D read more

On 5 De Mayo a few of my friends decided to go to power plant. It was my first time going to such a location. It was an enjoyable evening for a girls night out and will probably do it again. What made the night fun was the people I went with. The place in general was a little dirty and run down. They had dancers on the bars which could have been prettier, with better bodies, and dance moves. Lets just be honest when it comes to Go-Go dancers or Table dancers in general they are supposed to be eye catching... these weren't favorable and thats the opinion of at least 4 people. Im sure we weren't the only ones who felt this way. The music was good. Top 40s. The crowd was young. In their 20s. Bathrooms were dirty.. not that I had expected much from a crowded place. Cute guys were in attendance and were there to have a good time. Drinks were cheaper than the DC night life for sure. By about $2-3 dollars. Overall it was a good time but will probably check out another spot in Baltimore next time. read more

My friends and I had such a disturbing experience at Angels Rock Bar last night. Usually, this is a place where we enjoy getting drinks, bar hopping around Power Plant. However, last night my friends and I attempted to order drinks at the (understandably crowded) bar, and were met with the bartender screaming in our faces. He didn't even say anything in particular at first, just let out a loud, disturbing yell. We were taken aback, but then the bartender proceeded to tell us "now i'm really not going to serve you all." I've never experienced more confusing customer service in my life. We were attempting to order $68 worth of drinks, at a venue where all we had to do was simply walk to another bar. I downloaded Yelp just to write this review. Never attempting to go here again. read more

Awesome place to enjoy all forms of music. They often have live performers and the bartenders really add to the atmosphere by dancing and having a good time. They are also not stingy with the alcohol. This place is huge and a cool hangout read more

I used to like this place a lot more years ago. I went here after a Best of City Paper event and sat at Jordan's bar. She's gorgeous and definitely fits the Rock Bar image-dark make up, tattoos, and that hot bad girl image. We had a few drinks and shots and then went next door to PBR. It was a little cold out but I would've preferred to have watched baseball and sat at the bar rather than leave. Alas we were with a small group. I don't think I will be back, just because the Power Plant Scene really isn't for me anymore. Call me old but the last time I was at Rock Bar it was 2006 and I wore a corset out in public as a top. Now I would rather have a boozy dinner and be home in pajamas by 9 pm. Snooze fest........ Total was $ 33 before tip. read more

I was first very tentative when I came to this bar (most because I'm not used to big cities), but I always end up having fun when I go out here. I now make a trip here from Laurel at least once a week, sometimes twice! Great atmosphere and drink specials. Friendly staff, who do their best, even during rushes. Not a fan of the music they play after about 1030 but it is a club, so I can't complain too much. read more

I have never had a bad time here. If you get a table it's definitely worth it good price too. Last few times my friends and I had the whole back VIP section but we spent a lot of time just dancing on the dance floor and hanging out. Best part is music...it's like listening to my ipod all night. If you're tired of crappy house music blasted at every other club come here! Rock music to the max. They know their crowd and of course play some tracks for the ladies to get down to. ;) It's also the only club I can actually get my boyfriend to go to so kudos for that! read more

I'm a little Biased on this one I am a rock fan and if your not you will get bored. The plus side for those that aren't rock fans is that the drinks are affordable the staff is cool and laid back and it has the best view in all of power plant. The outside bar is great for the summer because you can still hear and see the band playing outside. This is one of my favorite bars in power plant . I recommend breaking out that favorite vintage tee putting on your best cut jeans and enjoy the atmosphere LOUD very LOUD read more

I've only been here a few times and it is a certain type of place for a certain crowd. They play a really great mix of rock music, but it sounds like you're front row at a concert, right next to the speakers...if that's your thing then go for it. Personally I think its overcrowded, too loud, and overpriced. read more

Don't waste your time. This is a poor example of a bar or club . The hype is at the roped area charging way too much cover below and then you are instantly let down as you walk up the stairs and enter this amateur bar. The set up is lame and very cheap. The music was not rock in fact it was a cheesy 90s dj. The girl bartenders were not attractive and by no means shoud have been shaking their stuff on the bar . Take my advice don't waste your time they charged 10$ for ladies and 15$ for guys. We left immediately upon entering .... read more

The first thing that turned me off was that they do not serve Budlight, second is the fact that the bouncers are all rude and on a power trip. Different type of crowd here, I prefer PBR. read more

You must hand over a card to open a tab, DON'T DO IT. The bartenders get drunk, accuse you of never giving it or say they may of given it to another customer, then try to get you to pay another way, but the card always shows up behind the bar. Sketchy and seems like a scam. Happened to me twice and to another few strangers. The bartender has screamed at me the first time it happened, tried to threaten my band, cussed me out, and refused an apology after returning my card. I'm upset I gave them another shot. Never again for sure. read more

Please note: Power Plant Live is a great place. With that said this evening I was part of a $4 Well drink promotion; I was at Angel Rock bar for 2.5-3 hours. The outside bartender charged me for 13 drinks... So either a few were added on by the bartender OR they are the weakest drinks known to man, because 13 drinks ( according to the promotion of $4 a drink) in 2.5 hours means a. I shouldn't have made it back by myself, b. I should be incoherent at this very moment and c. Don't open a tab especially as someone out of state. Really. A great night tarnished by a crappy tab. I have never ordered 13 drinks before in my life. read more

I honestly don't even want to give this place even 1 star. Our experience was horrible there. Here is a little back story. I'm dating a guy that use to date a girl Alex that is a bartender there. She left him for another guy. We then started dating and this has been over a year and half they have been not together. They don't talk or anything anymore. Well she writes nasty stuff about me on her Instagram and all. No clue why. Well we go to Angels Rock Bar for a friends birthday. It was a huge group of us. While in the place out of respect we just kept our distance from her because we weren't there to start drama just to have a good time with friends. Also we went to the side bar to get drinks because that's the one she was at the main bar. Well 25 mins later as we are all ordering our second round of drinks we are told to leave because the bartender Alex (she has has red hair) don't know her last name......well she didn't want us there. Personally I think this is bad business because personal stuff should not be brought to the workplace. Therefor that bar lost out on money my huge group was going to spend all over this girl Alex either not being over the relationship or whatever. I think management should not let this happen. We did not do anything wrong at the place but was still told to leave. So our whole group left Powerplant all together. Do not go to this place. read more

Angels is pretty great! always a good time and now that PBR is there and the two are attached, it makes it that much better (PBR is pretty great!) Only complaint....and this happened yesterday, its never happened before, is the bathroom attendant. I work with tons of clients daily, many of whom have bathroom attendants in their buildings and they are usually dressed nice, smile, (usually try not to have a conversation with you...which is appreciated :)) they give you soap, turn on and off water, and give you a papertowel and another...if you need one without asking... usually they have ammenities there if need be. Therefore you don't mind tipping! However, the bathroom attendant at Angels/PBR was dressed in not so great street clothes, no smile, gave you soap, but wouldn't turn on the water on or off. Gave a tiny piece of paper towel, and had nothing else. Whats the point in having a bathroom attendant if your not going to have them do the job properly. Although, this is baltimore, the real bathroom attendant could be dead somewhere and this guy is just an imposter trying to make a buck lol. Anyways, it def. won't stop me from coming, but, I just feel if your there to do a particular job, you should do it properly. read more
