It was pretty much a free for all's It was well organized. We purchased our tickets online so only had to check in when we arrived. Then we got a group number. It was a short wait for about 15-20 minutes before being let it. Some of the performers were out wandering the crowd giving out some jump scares. There was a hot dog cart, bar, and ice cream truck onsite if you wanted something to eat or drink. A fun group activity that I recommend trying out if you are a Halloween fan.

With this close-in seating you can see EVERYTHING. The acting explodes in your face, basically. My friend and I saw "The Hairy Ape," and, as a Eugene O'Neill fanatic I was set to love it, and was not disappointed. The acting was superb. The production was excellent, particularly because there is so little space and time to change/adjust the stage without being disruptive. The lead of the play was really spectacular and wish I could remember his name. (I looked it up -- Michael Leicht.) During the intermission attendees can mingle in the lobby or outside under the lights (and stars). It's really quite magical. As much as I love Everyman's Theatre, and there should be no comparison - they are very different, I find Spotlighters the ONE place I would most recommend.

The theater itself is small and set up in the "round theater" tradition: Seats circle the entire stage. This means, you are no more than 3 seats back from the action, making for a very intimate theater experience. For some this may be intense, but I found myself really engrossed in the play, and feeling more a part of it than an audience member (don't worry, you don't actually participate). This is a community theater, so I had set my expectations really low. However, the energy and thought that went into this production was anything but amateur. I left really wanting to seek out more of these types of places - and I'm in luck, Baltimore appears to be filled with them. File this place under "something different to do on a Saturday night, that'll make you feel good about living in Baltimore"

It's kind of an interesting out-of-the-way location. This is an intimate venue that is really for people who want to listen to the words and the lyrics of amazing singer-songwriters. The sound level is for listening, not for promoting hearing loss (like multiple other venues I've been to over the years.). I came here last night with the SO to see a friend play who is based in Nashville, but was making a mini-tour through this part of the country. They hold a show (on average) one Saturday per month. When I say intimate, I mean you're at most 100 feet from the stage in the back row, and it only holds a few hundred seats. This is run by a non-profit so prices on everything are very reasonable. So reasonable, in fact that you may want to make a small donation. They also accept used musical instruments as part of another program to get music into the local community and schools. If this sounds like your kind of place, then it probably is. They deserve to be patronized. Bonus: Beer, wine, coffee, tea, homemade cookies, and singer merch in the back. Where else do you get to shake hands and tell the artist what you thought of their show without buying a VIP ticket?

We recently…read moresaw the premier performance run of the national tour of Maybe Happy Ending, a Tony Award® winner for Best Musical. Ok, I'm no theater critic, but here goes. It's sort of a romantic comedy of how life flows from random meetings. Did I mention that the main characters are robots? An interesting twist that lets them highlight feelings and decisions that may be taken for granted, and what love is like the very first time. The stars of this show also performed in the Broadway production, so it was top-notch acting and singing, bold and expressive. The music was stirring, and we especially enjoyed the incorporation of jazz for one character's dialog. The staging was clever, with rotating scenery to change settings, opening out into a seemingly vast vista, with interesting effects that introduce new perspectives. I don't want to give away too much. Some housekeeping: The show was nearly two hours long, with no intermission. The seats are pretty comfy. Folks dressed from casual to night-on-the-town. This show performed for 7-days, so you don't always get a long time get to a particular show. Pro-tip: There's a volunteer-usher program! You work mostly at the start of the show. You see shows for free :-)

It offers the quality shows as seen on Broadway in Manhattan, NYC at a fraction of the cost. The theater is located in downtown Baltimore's Inner Harbor. There is so much to do in the area. There are countless quality restaurants, hotels and venues including Baltimore Orioles baseball. The theatre is within a very short walking distance of the Baltimore harbor. The theatre is a nice sized theatre not being too large or small. Every seat offers good views of the stage with good acoustics. Seating is comfortable and not too tight with adequate leg roon. The interior is absolutely beautiful. The walls are ornately decorated along with soft and warm lighting. Water, mixed drinks, wine, soft drinks and snacks are served before the show begins and during intermission. The theatre is well kept and maintained. The bathrooms are spacious and very clean Ticket prices are affordable and a fraction of the cost of Broadway without sacrificing the talent and quality of Broadway. There is plenty of paid parking available, with a multi-level garage across the street from the theater. Parking will cost approximately $25-$30 for the event/day. For all of you loving the arts, I strongly recommend attending a show at this venue, you won't regret it.

I got the VIP hookup! All you can eat crabs, coleslaw, corn, chips, and beer sampling!! When we entered, we got our VIP wristbands and a souvenir mini beer mug for endless samples. You have to options when sampling beer: try or mug. Trying allows you to taste the beer so you don't get a full mug and waste it if you don't like it. If you like it, ask them to "mug" and they will fill the mug. Lots of great beer, wine, and spirit vendors were present, such as Guinness, Heavy Seas, Charm City Meadworks, Virginia Distillery Co, Hoop Tea, and Jim Beam. We definitely took advantage and left lit! The crabs came 6 at a time. They provided us with mallets, wet naps, butter, Old Bay, and vinegar. VIPs also have guaranteed seating until the big tent. There was a live band for entertainment and they sang a little bit of everything. The people attending were great, the attendant were friendly and helpful. I would definitely go to another. The VIP tickets were worth it!!

We picked the later session for the sake of the summer heat and it couldn't have been more perfect once the sun set! We also enjoyed the live band that performed favorite, current & pop covers. Vendors of all types were there to offer a variety of things from jewelry, desserts, services, handmade goods, shirts, and many more. We took an Uber there, also my first time, so I can't comment on parking. What I found convenient was the portable sinks to wash your hands. There were some buildings lit up and trees lined with lights, but where were all the main attractions and interactive displays? With so many people and the event so spread out, I felt it was hard to really find anything. The displays we did see (after waiting in long lines) were underwhelming. Mini light city was a cool idea, but on the night we went, it started closer to 6pm (rather than 5pm). I think the highlight of the evening was Impulse (sit on one end of the seesaw to see lights and hear some sounds as you go up and down) and The Pool (hope on circular platforms as they change color). If you start on the wrong end, you'll miss the nightly parade. The festival did offer a variety of food and beverage stands throughout, which was a nice touch. If you aren't already spending the day in Baltimore, I wouldn't make a trip specifically for this festival. If you do go, make sure you check out the schedule and map before hand to maximize your experience. Be prepared for massive crowds!
