Metro Gallery was the cutest little spot to see a concert in the city, without it being a scary area when leaving late. Parking was easy and accessible, the venue was small but still had ample space, and gender neutral bathrooms were available. The bartenders were so incredibly sweet, even though I would say when it comes to the bar, the drinks can get quite pricey. Everyone was kind and respectful despite the small space, which I know can be an issue at some concert venues.

Everything is Terrible's Yonder Vittles on stage 11/3/2015.

Pretty decent sized venue, not too hard to find parking for. The bar isn't insanely pricey and they seem to attract some unique and awesome acts. Saw Wham City and Everything is Terrible here and had a great time.

Dirty bathrooms, it says you need proof of vaccination but they didn't even check, the green room was like a sauna too.

Went here during Artscape and will be attending a few future shows they have lined up. The place is clean, cheap and close to home.

If you want to be transported to Berlin for the night with a bunch of hipsters of Baltimore in-tow…read moreClub Charles is the place for you. There are no fancy drinks here, but you are in the heart of art Mecca of Baltimore, Station North right across from the Charles Theatre. It is a very special place. There's an interior red hue that just glows over the entire bar and there's a really cool seat which is a nook and you're basically kind of secluded from the rest of the group. I always come here pretty late at night and one time I trjed to come and and they were closed for a vacation, this is a quintessential cigarette smoking (not inside) bar. Like I said, there's nothing really special in terms of the drinks. They have all of your classic dive bar favorites. The last time I was here I took a shot of Fernette, but the team here is hipster friendly so sometimes good service other times fine. Iconic Baltimore Bar. They also have fun things on the TVs.

I grabbed a classic vodka cran, which was good (how could a vodka cran be bad). The crowd was early twenties to late thirties, with some MICA professors and students out and about. Despite being a busy Saturday night, it wasn't too loud inside and I was still able to have a nice conversation without having to yell.

We randomly stumbled upon this bar after the royal blue on a Saturday night. We were trying to go…read moreto Club Chuck, but I guess they take a week off during the summer, which is really great. It's super super divey and oddly really long. You can tell it's a good music scene and dance space because there was a DJ and he was trying out a lot of different things so we had the dance for all to ourselves. We also found some random Halloween decoration that we ended up dancing with. I guess there's food here because Yelp is offering it to me as an option to review, but I have never eaten here. The drinks are all well and you should not expect a drink anything faster than a beer or a well drink. I really liked how empty it was and the music was really made for us. I had a great time and I would definitely stop by again. It also feels like one of those places that's a fever dream.

I came once before for a show and I had a great time! But…read morerecently I had a bad experience that left me feeling dark and empty, like the cycle of the moon was causing everyone around me to radiate negative and hateful energy. The interaction forced me to go home and watch Mr. Bean's holiday to remind me that there is good in the world. I came in at 1:15 which is late but the door was open and there was a DJ in the back playing music and like 7 people at the bar. The bartender was chatting with two people at the bar so I walked up. And the bartender gave me the dirtiest look that made me question if I had known him as a child and did something wrong to him because he looked at me like I was his number one enemy. Then he said "yeahhh we're like ..... getting ready to be done....." and I said "okay is there time for one drink? Or did you already do last call" Then he just kept looking off and said yeah no. We're done. And I said okay! No problem. I was curious what was happening in the back like if it was a DJ or karaoke or what because I hadn't seen the set up before and like I said I like this place for shows. I was just genuinely curious and I was preparing to leave no matter what but like F SAKE can a girl not ask a bartender a question about the establishment??? Again he looked at me like we had ancestral beef, like he had been hating me and my families bloodline for years. And he just kind of ignored me. And said something like "you can't just go back there and hangout" and I said "I know, I was just asking. I thought it might have been karaoke or open mic I didn't know you guys did that here" Then he ignored me. Like I was not trying to hangout and get a drink after he already told me no I was just curious because if there was karaoke I'd like to come back for it!!!! Then the woman he was talking to at the bar turned to me and said "have you ever been to Royal blue? You could go there" And idk how to explain but it was in the most condescending way ever, like you don't belong here or like she was talking to me like I was 5 years old?? Anyway I said okay thanks, I was just curious have a good night. And I left. And I left feeling the anxiety and humiliation in my tummy like I had just been bullied out of the cool kids lunch table. So. Sorry for bothering that bartender by asking 2 questions about the bar that he works at and sorry for whatever crime I apparently committed against you in our first cycles of life that made you absolutely HATE MY GUYS even though I was literally wearing my "please be kind to me" shirt. Now im too humiliated to go back and it was just sinister vibes. Sad.

Friday Night 7:30pm Laura Benanti…read more One woman show "Nobody Cares" Date night and this was my choice. I originally wanted to see BOCKY but the play was over. So as I was looking at other shows and miss thang Benanti was damn near sold out ! I was like who is this lady ? So, I bought 2 aisle seat tickets on the mezzanine level. Now , let's get into these seats. Mezzanine is a great place to sit in the Pearl Theater. You can see from every angle as long as there isn't a tall person in front of you. What I don't understand about the theaters is LEG ROOM. If a show is over 30 min with no intermission , the audience is slowly dying. We are cramped and hoping that the alcohol will soothe the pain. Most of the theater audience is elderly. I'm not sure what center stage can do about it but no intermission is pushing it. What else ? The bathrooms were clean Drinks and snacks over priced. Top me off if the cheap wine is $14 . Parking ? Surprisingly reasonable. The parking garage was $8 Street parking was probably cheaper than that if you could get it. Laura Benanti was really funny and sang like a cathedral choir angel. I'm glad I chose her show $70 a ticket Picked up tickets from the front desk. I think I want to come back for the Nygel show...Oct 10

Maryland Deathfest - The soon to be metal mall

bought my 4 day pass for My Dying Bride. only did the 4 day because a group of friends were going…read moreso I could tag along. Bride cancelled so I listed my ticket for sale. I also contacted Maryland Deathfest to inquire about a refund. they didn't respond but then sent an email saying my refund was being processed. I checked the eventbrite app and my ticket was removed so I removed it from my sale listing on ticket stub. they said it would take up to 7 business days to see the refund. it's now been 11 days and they won't respond to any of my emails or messages. If they're going to remove my ticket and take away the chance for me to sell it to recoup some loss, they should honor that refund. they flat out stole my money

Maryland Deathfest is the high point of my year. Four days of heavy metal (grind, death,…read morethrash..the heavier, the better), booze, friends, and loading up on awesome merch. Typically the first day starts around 5ish and goes til 2 am, the second starting a bit earlier and the weekend being an all day event. I love perusing the amazing merch tents and finding band shirts that I could only dream about (or, I suppose, find online). I've been going to MDF for five years now and it is THE metal fest in America. In fact, it is one of the few fests in the US to draw people from all over the world (both bands and spectators). They've had their bumps in the road as the fest has grown over the years including venue and security issues but I feel that for the most part that has been resolved. Sure, drink prices can be high (like this year water prices kept going up every day. Weird) but for a festival they have a nice diverse line up of drink and food choices (I recommend the bbq and the tacos). The frozen drink stand offered some delicious and refreshing daiquiris and margaritas that were worth the high price in order to cool down. So metal heads, unite. Eat, drink and get crazy. You won't find another metal festival like it in the states. I've seen some of my favorite bands here and have really developed a love for Baltimore in the process. This city doesn't get enough credit sometimes. They are more than gracious hosts. Oh, and don't forget your sunscreen. Most of your day will be spent at the Edison lot in the blazing sun which is a parking lot turned in to a venue. The other two venues included in fest are the Soundstage which is a nice smaller venue and Ramshead Live!. Ramshead is a very nice larger venue with a nice craft beer line up. You will learn to develop a nice way to balance water, caffeine and alcohol intake after a few years. Or end up being one of the swaggering drunk zombies or people sleeping on the asphalt. haha. So, if you are a metal head, I highly recommend you start making the yearly pilgrimage. It is well worth the money, exhaustion and sunburn to see some of the best metal acts in the world, stateside.
