Creativity Center across the street from Creative Alliance. Large studios for ballet, dance, yoga, workshop spaces, community kitchen.

What a lovely neighborhood treasure! A community organization in the heart of Highlandtown Arts District. They repurposed an old theatre and saved the beautiful marquee. But the magic takes place not only within their walls but with offerings that are present for the whole community to enjoy beyond any structure. There is a wealth of activities and events that cater to the neighborhood and outer reaches of Baltimore and beyond. Going in to the main Creative Alliance building is free. Their 2024 Schedule of activities are packed to highlight the rich culture of the surrounding area. A diverse culture of artists, musicians, movies and film selections, festivals...the list goes on. Depending on the event there may be offerings of beverages and food to also match the sponsored event. We went for a personal tour by one of their staff and it was delightful. They happened to have a special weekend celebrating Mother's Day for the Hispanic community so the gallery lobby and theatre spaces were filled with lively performances and displays. They also sponsor a resident artist program that welcomes a few artists to live in one of their private studio spaces for a period of time. They get to live in an environment surrounded by other artists and where they are supported and encouraged to explore the concepts of their own work. Across the street is another recently developed building where classes and programs are available for all ages. We paid for a screening paint lesson given by a local artist and learned the history of screen paintings which is very unique art form in Baltimore. Anyone who lives in Baltimore or within distance of this building should definitely check it out for all the things they have to offer!

I've been to Creative Alliance for two very different events in the last few months, and I'm now a huge fan of this great arts and cultural center just off Patterson Park. They offer such an amazing array of events - movies, musical performances, art shows, classes, and more! I went with a few friends for an interactive screening of Death Becomes Her (drag performance + film screening!) a few months ago - we laughed until we cried. Then a few weeks ago, my husband and I visited again for a performance of the Amazing AcroCats (I can't really explain this - if cats are your thing, Google it - you'll be glad you did). The space is in an old theater and is really comfortable. There is a bar in the theater as well as a bar at the entrance. There's also a gallery space where you can take in the art they are exhibiting at the time. This is one of those great spaces that make the city it's located in better. We're lucky to have it. Definitely take a look at their upcoming events and check out Creative Alliance!

Great venue! I actually visited the location to attend the 1st annual Charm City Burlesque & Variety Festival. I attended the show on Saturday, 9/30/2023 to see my friends Belladonna & The Nightshades, as well as, K-Vegas & Belladonna perform. It was so awesome! All of the performances were great! It was so nice to see diversity and inclusion in terms of race, ethnicity, bodies, disability, snd sexuality! I enjoyed myself! The bartender was super nice, and she made a killer signature cocktail (it was the lemonade and I forgot the name). So good! The venue was spacious and the bathrooms were super clean! Parking although it's a small lot was good, and it was worth it paying the $8 so that I be close enough to the venue and walk across the street. There wasn't any options for Street parking to be honest, and the side streets were very dark. I'm not familiar with the area, and I appreciated all of the lights around the venue, so that I could see, and feel safe in this mostly residential area (at least that's what it seemed like). Anyway I met some cool people and had fun!

Our neighborhood BUS sculpture, on Eastern & East Ave, at the Creative Alliance, is always being decorated and Valentine's Day was no exception. The sculpture featured these 3 giant tuled hearts and was the perfect backdrop for a little Valentine's photo op before our dinner date.

This is a really cool art and music venue that includes a bar and reception area -- it is multifaceted and so fun! I came here after winning tickets to see Arooj Aftab, the neo-Sufi composer and singer as part of the Creative Alliance's NISA/Women initiative. It is great that they give a spotlight to different voices in art and community. The artist's voice and sound is sooo beautiful with lots of reverb in the production (hauntingly beautiful). She sang in the theater space under the sparkly chandeliers and subtle purple and orange mood lighting. It was so romantic and pretty - wish she did an encore and stayed longer! The event also included food! Catered Pakistani dishes that were delicious and so filling. I'm glad we were able to eat there in the bar space. The bar-- let me tell you!! That mural painting in the bar features a red-orange Phoenix. It is a looker and def something instagrammable pretty. You can order beer or hard liquor. They have some local picks, too. At the end of your time there, don't forget to go outside and check out their BUS sculpture made of wood that you can hang out on and take a seat while waiting for your bus or ride!

There is absolutely, positively, no reason to dislike this staple in Baltimore City! Quite simply put they encourage and drive the creative spirit. On this particular night I went to an interactive House Party movie event where you got to yell out and play along with the hosts! It was sooo much fun and so engaging I left feeling increased. But Creative Alliance doesn't just stop there. Whether they are showing movies by local and national filmmakers or showcasing art from talented painters and creators this organization is the lifeblood to the city. P.S... During big events parking can leave a little something to be desired so come early to beat the crowd and secure your park. If not you may find yourself having to park blocks away.

I came here on to see Zainab Johnson's comedy performance as part of Creative Alliance's Islamic Women's Art series. I have never been to a comedy show that made me feel so womanly, Black, and powerful , all while having me in stitches from laughing at the same. The theater space is small and intimate but not stuffy and tight. The stadium style seating is major plus so no matter where you sit, you have a great view of the stage. This particular event came with a free vegan dinner buffet sponsored by Land of Kush. I arrived early to eat and then hung out on the big bench playing some cards and waited for the show to start. After the show, Zainab hung around to do a meet and greet and I was totally having a girl crush! In summary, the space is very nice and each time I have been here (for various event types) has been amazing.

Creative Alliance is one of my favorite places in the city and definitely for a number of different reasons. There are always a ton of events going on that range from live music performances, art exhibits all the way to outrageously fun interactive movie nights! Just attended Movie Night for the comedy Wet Hot American Summer and it was hilarious. All of the staff and resident artists who live there are very knowledgeable and always looking to help get you involved in what's going on. I've seen and enjoyed so many things here and plan to continue doing so! During the winter they also have an amazing pop-up shop situation where local artists and businesses turn in inside into a marketplace and I love doing Christmas shopping here. They do a ton of good for the city and its great having it as a beacon over on this side of the city. Keep it up guys!

This is my second time attending an event at this venue. Both times I have actually enjoyed myself. So this place had an art studio where they display work from local artist. Both times that I have gone the artwork was very nice. They have a theater where the show movies and host other type of events. The event I attended was for a book signing and it was held in the bar lounge. The set up reminds you of a coffee shop/open mic. The bar serves beer, wine and cocktails. They have a kitchen but it is currently being renovated. The only downfall about this venue is that they only offer off at parking which is CRAZY. Please give yourself 15-20 min to look for parking.

The Creative Alliance has been around a while but after a face lift and better management is booking more interesting entertainment and aggressively pursuing educational outreach in the area. Get out and support this Baltimore landmark and grab a great slice at Matthew's Pizza across the street.

The entry process into the venue was really straight forward and smooth - we arrived about 40 minutes ahead of the concert and were led very quickly to our seats at the bar. They were very well prepared for the event - there were alot of staff, bartenders, and waiters catering to guests needs. The food and drink options were really nice. I had the burger, which was GREAT, and my girlfriend had the brisket sandwich which she really enjoyed too. The fries might've been the highlight of the meal though; they were wonderfully seasoned and fresh. I kept it simple with a bottled beer and she had a reisling - no complaints at all on our drinks. Shoutout to our bartender; she was very attentive even though the space was completely sold out. I like that the majority of the seats in the venue have at least a partial view of the stage. For those seats that are out of stage view, there are plenty of TV screens scattered around and above the bar to give everyone a chance at viewing the stage. I do think that the sound quality could be improved - we sat a little ways away from stage and definitely fought through some distorted or unclear sound. Maybe a speaker or two in the back of the venue would help. Perhaps it was because Destin's show was very popular, but we had ALOT of trouble buying our tickets online. Their site stalled or crashed several times while we were trying to purchase tickets. Would've loved to have a smoother purchase experience. This place has alot of soul; it's a perfect date night spot. Would happily come back again to see other artists, musicans, and vocalists.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: You are REQUIRED to purchase *at least two menu items per person in your…read moreparty.* This is not disclosed when you book tickets for a show or reserve a table. OVERALL: The music is great, the vibe is great, the service and food are fine. It's just all about the ambiance at the tables (which is the entire club) and talent on stage! The tricky thing with venues that have a minimum order requirement is I feel compelled to rate them also then on what they're making you do, not just what the venue's real heart and soul is about. FOOD AND SERVICE: I've been here a few times now and the food and service are consistently 3 stars. It's a limited menu with entrées averaging around $30, apps and cocktails generally about $15. Some of what comes out doesn't actually match the description on the menu, which is further disappointment. But that's not why you go: It's all about the ambiance and the jazz music. I've been to some venues that require a minimum order and some that don't. My biggest issue is if it's a rule, it NEEDS to be communicated when you're paying for your tickets. It's currently not, and that's one of my biggest gripes. We first found out about this req only after paying $200+ for our non-refundable tickets, specifically, at our table when we opened our menus to order. (We'd bought 4 tickets as a gift; our friends were on a budget; and half of us weren't drinking, so we'd just planned to share an appetizer or two. None of us walked in expecting to drop an extra $40/person--an unpleasant surprise.) FYSA they also have a silence policy during shows, so if you want to chat, plan to arrive in advance of the show. Wasn't an issue for us and is very reasonable to expect, but noting here since it's also not actually mentioned on the website, and if you're new to the scene, you may not realize that. Just another helpful note to know before you go!

Parking is plentiful in Baltimore; there's lots of…read moregarages in the area, so my advice is to shop around and pick a lot that's a short walk away to stay out of the post-concert queue. We reserved a spot in advance via SpotHero, which was about a 10-minute walk from the venue, and there was literally no wait to exit the garage (cheaper too!). The venue has a clear bag or small clutch policy, which is strictly enforced. Security was standing by the entrance to pull people with non-compliant bags aside and send them back to their cars. They also had lockers outside for rent if you didn't have a nearby place to stow them in. Security was a little snippy to people who pushed back on the bag restrictions, but it's clearly communicated on the website in advance and the concert norm these days, so that's just poor planning on their part. We came during the first opening act so there wasn't a wait to get in. They had multiple security lines and the ticket-scanning for entry was seamless. With an outdoor venue, it had festival vibes. There were lots of drink, concession, and merch stands, even food trucks stationed around. On a hot summer day, there was even a misting tent. It's not a huge venue, so there's not much to walk around and do once you enter, besides go to your seat or wait in line to buy things. There are a few places to look out on the dock and enjoy the waterfront, but it's facing the opposite direction of the stage. There's also nothing from stopping people who don't have tickets from listening on the other side of the pier. There's benches across the way for people to plant themselves for the evening; we even saw people on the other side setting up lawn chairs. Boats on the water were also floating about to get a listen. You obviously don't get the full experience, but, free concert! The bathrooms were a little janky, but better than portapotties (which are also placed around the venue). They actually had bathroom attendants to direct you to an available stall. Some of the attendants were seated outside the restrooms, smoking. One of the bathrooms had bowls of candy (but I did not partake). Another had a tip jar, which I thought was a little tacky for the atmosphere, but they did work hard to manage traffic inside the restrooms and were constantly tidying up the place and wiping the counters down. Water coolers were also placed near the restrooms to refill water bottles. We had seats under the pavilion but there was no enforcement or ticket checking by staff at all to verify the lawn seat ticket holders vs. pavilion people. I guess they figure people will just manage their own seats and escalate if needed. The lawn was small and there are no screens, so if you're sitting on the lawn, it really is just to listen. That being said, many people did just crowd against the pavilion wooden railings, so you could easily position yourself there to get a view of the band. The pavilion floor isn't very sloped, so if you get stuck behind tall people, your view could be obstructed, unfortunately. Beware of the tent poles which can also block your view and are not clearly indicated on the website as an obstruction. Sound quality of the concert was good - it was loud and in full effect. I also liked how Pier Six Pavilion posted the estimated set times on the website ahead of time (not guaranteed to be accurate/exact, but helpful for planning purposes). Just based on location, I don't plan on frequenting Pier Six Pavilion, but sometimes, seeing one of your favorite artists play live demands it.

I saw a concert at MECU Pavilion towards the end of summer before COVID struck. The line-up was Rancid, Suicidal Tendencies, Pennywise, and the Aquabats. A group of us drove down to Baltimore for this concert, and ended up making it a little weekend trip - staying at a local hotel and checking out spots around Inner Harbor and Fells Point. I remember not having an issue getting through the ticket line (mobile app passes since it was a Live Nation event) and going through security. The Pavilion is right on the water, so you get good views. Tickets gave you an assigned seat but you could walk around and/or go in the pit. The sound was pretty good, and the MECU had your standard lighting set-up - no frills or lasers at that show. One thing I remember here was that Security was good inside. If it looked like someone was hurt or maybe looked a little too under the influence, staff was there to help or offer help in a professional/non-jerky way. While it was a ruckus rock show with a huge crowd, you still felt safe there (no one was tearing down metal fences or doing dumb stuff). I also remember not having an issue leaving once the concert was over - the crowd moved calmly and orderly (though, can't underestimate this being a result of people being in a good spirits after having a fun time at the concert).
