Arrived on time, let me say I don't understand why a card is asked when making a reservation because they don't ask your name when you show up After being seated in the very back, away from everyone, behind a pole, it was very dark... The table was very small, where 2 drinks and a plate can fit; however, the chairs were very cozy, If you're not eating... once you're eating, you're very uncomfortable because you cannot sit back... We visited Unity for happy hour. I had been a few other times for brunch and dinner. The vibe is always cool with good music. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly. We ordered the wings, sangria and lemon drop from the happy hour menu. The Thursday special included a chicken sandwich--it was a great size for the price ($13). I got the Mushroom Swiss burger ($23) and it was loaded. I did ask for it to be cooked medium rare, but it was more on the well done side. There was a lot of good flavor in the burger though. The fries were also well seasoned and crispy. Our server really took care of us. The restaurant inside was pretty slow, but there were a few people at the bar and the majority of people outside enjoying hookah. Hey friends! I Yelped some Black-Owned Restaurants near the Pier Six Pavilion last week for the T-Pain concert and came across this place. Wasn't the greatest experience, but the place has potential so I'll be back. They offer typical American fare, a few pastas and a couple Caribbean dishes. Their cocktail menu is impressive. We started off with the Red Head and Nipple Me cocktails. The bartender was having a great day, those drinks were amazing. One was enough for us to feel a buzz! I order the veggie burger. Fries were cold and patty was dry. I should've asked for some sort of sauce or dressing as the sandwich was bland and underwhelming. My brother ordered the salmon BLT. It's awkwardly plated as you can see in the photo lol. Nonetheless my brother said it was tasty. His fries were cold as well. Service was underwhelming. Our waiter was not personable or welcoming. It wasn't busy so I couldn't excuse it. The bartender seemed to be friendly. Next time we will sit at the bar for friendly, fast service. The interior is one of the best I've seen recently! It has a dark, moody atmosphere with unique seating arrangements. The bar had neon lighting which was pretty cool. There was a DJ station which they likely use for brunch on the weekends. When I visited in February, the restaurant did not have the best sign to locate them, but once you do, it's great! My friend and I dined at Unity Bar & Restaurant on Valentine's Day. The decor and vibes were wonderful. Most of their guests were accompanied by their friends on this particular day too, which was lovely to see. I really enjoyed my time at Unity Bar. We had a 7:30 reservation on Saturday night and we arrived right on time. They seem to have a table limit, because as we waited for our table to become available, we saw the host go over to what would be our table and seemingly tell the patrons who were seated there that they had to go. Once they left, the staff cleaned our table, and we were seated by 7:40. Not bad. I will point out that there is no real waiting area. Once you walk in, the bar is just about a foot and a half from the door, so you end up with very little space to wait. A few people came in after us and it got crowded really quickly. Now on to the good stuff. We sat and were introduced to our server, Mike. For drinks, I ordered the Nipple Me and hubby ordered the Quickie. Both were tasty, but we agreed that the Nipple Me was a little better. We were starving, so we ordered the sweet and spicy shrimp to start. These were DELICIOUS. They were amazingly crispy and the sauce that came on them was tasty as well. For our entrees I got the Unity Pasta and he got the jerk chicken. Both were good, although I had to ask for cheese for the pasta to jazz it up a little. The pasta itself was better than the shrimp and salmon that came in it, IMO. We also ordered another round of drinks. I switched to the Greyhound since it caught my eye earlier and I had to try it and babe switched to the Nipple Me. Came here with friends on Taco Tuesday during happy hour. I've been sitting here for almost an hour and still did not receive my first drink. This is unacceptable. Why does it take an hour to get a drink??? Happy hour is almost over. We put in more drink orders to get the price. We may not get them till closing. I tried but this is awful. This will be my last time. And then to top it off the owner of the establishment parks his car in the handicap space because the space is located in front of the restaurant??? I kindly asked him to move his car. Do I really need to explain to a grown man that this is illegal and it doesn't matter that you are the owner??? Such arrogance and entitlement. Our waitress Alexis greeted us with a bright smile and was very attentive from beginning to end. We had the mimosa flights which were nice. I preferred the Lychee. The Peaches and Cream French Toast was delicious. I also had the oxtail and grits. The oxtails were pretty good but the grits need some work. They were not creamy enough and became stiff. I've had several recommendations to visit this new black owned business and read great Yelp reviews. I finally decided to visit this establishment and I'm glad I did. Parking situation was street parking but not too hard to find, cheap meters. I was immediately assisted by Michael who took us to our seats as we made reservations on Yelp. This establishment is really cutesy. I love the décor although there are a lot of tables and hot tops in one space making it hard to kind of get around everything. Only bumped my leg twice! Lol The bar counter is lengthy and comfy. They had the QR Code menus which were very convenient and safe. We ordered the the Frosè-Gria (Frose & Sangria), Sweet and Spicy Shrimp, Salmon BLT and Unity Jerk Chicken. Everything came out pretty quickly and good. The Sweet and Spicy Shrimp was a good size and well seasoned. My only suggestion is that the Salmon BLT be seasoned a little more, but otherwise it was a great texture and I will consider ordering again. The Jerk Chicken was definitely a conversation piece, so good!! I was really pleased with how clean this restaurant was, how yum the drinks are and the great service that we received by Michael. I wanted to love everything about Unity Bar since we don't have many Black-owned brunch spots in Baltimore, but the experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Now I will say Unity Bar is a vibe for weekend brunch in the city. Great music that makes you want to get out of your seat and do a two step. However, the food wasn't much to write home about. I opted for the blueberry pancakes, which was a pretty presentation, but tasted like your standard box pancake mix. My dining partner ordered the chicken & waffles. Which again was a pretty plate, however, asking for plain chicken also meant no season, which was unfortunate. We both ordered the unlimited mimosas since there was a 2 hour limit for brunch mentioned on the menu. But we quickly learned neither the "unlimited" mimosa or the "2 hour" limit would be honored. After only an hour into our dining experienced we were pretty much rushed out the door because they were starting to get busy, although there were other free tables unoccupied. And when asked if we could have another mimosa our waiter told us he had already been in trouble and couldn't bring us anymore. Which made sense as to why he didn't seem to check on us after a while into the service. All in all, $100+ later and we felt we could've cooked brunch at home and had a better experience much cheaper. Unfortunately due to the experience, I personally would choose not to patronized Unity Bar again when such accommodations are not actually going to be met. read more

I visited Unity Bar and Gril twice now. During my first visit back in November, they recently opened and the restaurant was fairly empty on a Saturday night. I just went back for brunch on Sunday and well....business is certainly booming. It was packed. My cousin attempted to make a reservation for brunch but there was no option available. We arrived early right as the restaurant opened and what do you know? They had reservations already in place. I'm not sure how some people were able to make reservations and my cousin didn't. Maybe you have to call. Nevertheless, we were placed on a waitlist and were told that if any of the reservations don't show up, we'll be seated. Well, luck was on our side that day because after about a 15-20 minute wait, our party of 5 was seated. The service was pretty slow. It took a while for anyone to even come over to take our order. Then there was a pretty long wait for the food. And I'm assuming since the restaurant is so packed, that was the reason why everyone's food was brought out one at a time. One person's order was missing a side of bacon and it was never brought out so that got removed from the bill. I got the shrimp and grits and thought they were pretty tasty. During my previous visit, I got the lamb chops and really enjoyed those as well. I will definitely say that I've enjoyed my food during each visit. One thing I've noticed is that there may be some inconsistency in how the food is prepared. Two people at my table ordered omelets consisting of the same ingredients and one omelet was definitely more undercooked than the other. I'm a little torn about Unity. I enjoyed my food but the service needs a little more work. During brunch, they only had two servers for the whole restaurant. There were times that I've seen the hostess having to go around the restaurant and refill mimosas because there weren't enough staff covering the tables. read more

The service isn't above and beyond but they get the job done. They take care of you and are very friendly. I got there around 10pm on. Thursday and I sat at the bar. You can not get a table if you're by yourself even the small one. I ordered a Vodka Refresher. I didn't like it too much. I'm starting to think I'm just not a fan of mint. I like my drinks a little sweeter but I did finish it and no complaints on the amount of alcohol in the drink. For my meal I ordered The Alex which is Grilled chicken, spinach, potatoes covered in a jerk sauce. Overall I did like my meal but my chicken was over cooked and dry. The spinach was good and I'm not even a spinach person AT ALL! The potatoes were just okay but it was all covered in the jerk sauce which lived up to its name. This jerk is more on the spicy side which I liked. Overall I would definitely come back to try out other dishes and just to enjoy the chill atmosphere. It's worth checking out again!! read more

I visited Unity twice in the past few days. Once for brunch and the other for dinner. Brunch: Overall, brunch was good. The place was packed and we ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes for a waiter to come over and greet us. The pancakes and French toast were flavorful. The eggs were super salty and my friend ordered scrambled eggs that had chunks of salt on the bottom. I really enjoyed the homefries. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly. 2 out of 4 of us ordered bottomless mimosas. We noticed that other tables had pitchers. We asked about it and were told that we could not get a pitcher because not everyone ordered bottomless. However, it took about 20 minutes for them two bring one and within an hour we only had 2 (there is a two hour time limit on brunch). Dinner: I was a bit disappointed in dinner. I ordered the veggie burger. I asked the waiter if it was a bean burger or beyond/impossible/etc. The waiter asked and was told that it was a bean burger. When the burger came out it seemed to be a frozen veggie burger (with peas and carrots). The flavor was bland. The crab dip was good. I enjoyed that it was a bit sweet. There wasn't any chunks of meat except on the top which was fine. The sweet and spicy shrimp was definitely the star of dinner. The fries were delicious as well. Get the spicy aioli. read more

I've visited this a few times and each time the service is terrible. The bartenders ALWAYS act as if you're bothering them or have an attitude. They don't speak or talk. When you're ordering with them just stare at you and put the order. We decided to eat at the bar, not once did she ask if we wanted anything else, if everything came out ok.. nothing! The hostess and service do nothing but gather at the door and talk amongst one another. They definitely ruin the experience with their lack of professional! This place is fun! Small and intimate but still housing a sizable crowd. The vibe is amazing with live DJ blazing the tunes. The aesthetic is wonderful and eye catching. The food was incredible. I tried there French toasts and their fish and grits and may I just say REMARKABLE! I have since visited several times and this place is on my roster of weekend stops!
