I came to eat dinner here 2 weeks ago and was very disappointed. We were seated under the air vent, and the heat was coming out right above our table on a very high mode. It was very hot inside the restaurant because two big large groups were dining at the same time. I asked our server if the heat could be turned off and he denied the heat was on. After asking the server to feel under the vent himself, he admitted the heat was blowing high and would talk to the manager. We were told they were having AC issues and were unable to turn the heat off. We asked if we could move tables because we had started to sweat at this point. They refused to allow us to move tables even though other tables were open and we'd only received water so far. The hostess was very rude and dismissive and refused to consider finding a solution. While that part of our experience was terrible, the food was not much better. I had the pasta, and it was so dry, I had to ask for extra sauce. The sauce didn't come to the table for another 15 minutes. Honestly wouldn't recommend this restaurant unless you are stopping by the bar to get a drink. The drinks were the only thing that were actually decent. read more

This place is fun! Small and intimate but still housing a sizable crowd. The vibe is amazing with live DJ blazing the tunes. The aesthetic is wonderful and eye catching. The food was incredible. I tried there French toasts and their fish and grits and may I just say REMARKABLE! I have since visited several times and this place is on my roster of weekend stops! Can't wait to get back there and try a new menu item! read more

Food came out quickly and was very tasty. Looks like they freshly squeezed orange juice which is always a plus! Staff are friendly and helpful. The music is a little loud so it was hard to hear the staff and people that you're with. There isn't a business sign outside either so we stumbled upon it after visiting the Walters Art Museum. Would recommend for the food! read more

Only giving a one because the food Is ok. Ambience is nice, has potential however what is ruining the experience is the lack of customer service. I've visited this a few times and each time the service is terrible. The bartenders ALWAYS act as if you're bothering them or have an attitude. They don't speak or talk. When you're ordering with them just stare at you and put the order. We decided to eat at the bar, not once did she ask if we wanted anything else, if everything came out ok.. nothing! The hostess and service do nothing but gather at the door and talk amongst one another. They definitely ruin the experience with their lack of professional! This time was the last time and I would never recommend this place to Anyone . I guess because 18% gratuity is already added, they have no care in the world! Find some where else to catch a vibe. Definitely don't go here! read more

Such a cool spot for brunch or happy hour. I assume dinner is just as nice but I've only been for HH and brunch. Brunch being my favorite! HH was a good time because if the vibe. I had the Unity burger- nothing special. Tito's, splash of pineapple. It was a splash indeed and a heavy pour of Tito's. Score For brunch my good girlfriend and I tried and shared: Chicken and waffles, Vanilla Bean French Toast, 2 eggs scrambled lightly, Turkey bacon, and Home fries: the egg entrees also come with toast but we skipped it since we ordered waffles and French toast. That damn French toast ... toooooo good! Perfectly cooked, perfect amount of sweet. The waffles I'd pass on next time. The chicken... bomb! Perfectly seasoned, fried crispy, but not hard. The Homefries are home fries.... Like the fried potatoes and onions your grandma used to make. Mine did! They were perfect! We needed NOTHING! No salt, no pepper, ketchup. I'm a ketchup girl but didn't need it at all, everything was cooked to perfection. Bottomless mimosas for $25 I believe!! I was skeptical about the mimosas because they were more on the yellow side inside of orange. I ordered anyway and so glad I did. 4 mimosas in 2 hours. I felt great!! My friend ordered the Peach Casa Amiga Martini and loved it! 2 hour limit! Make a reservation. They open at 12 I think. We had a reservation for 12 pm on a Sunday, party of 2. By 1pm, the only seating available was at the bar. I'll gladly frequent Unity Bar and Grill and spread the word!! Highly recommend! read more

I had this restaurant in my notes for about a year. I finally had the pleasure of trying. The service with our waitress was very slow and It was not a busy night. The food and cocktails made up for it. My original idea was to order the blackened catfish but the oven was broken. I went with the curry shrimp my second choice. It was soooo amazing. It was a great portion. I love good jamaican food. I ate everything on the plate. The bartender made some good strawberry lemon drops. I saw everyone in the restaurant ordering them. I am glad I followed suite. I will def be back to try more food. read more

I'm literally ONLY giving this establishment 2 stars because my drink was really good and the vibe is super cool. Other than that, this place would be receiving one star. Let's talk about the food shall we? I ordered curry shrimp. It comes with rice & peas and cabbage. I'm thinking great this is about to be a great dinner. Ab-so-lu-tely NOT!!! I tasted a fork full of rice & peas only to find the peas were undercooked as they were super hard I send it back. The waiter tells me they are trying to fix it but are unable to and asks me if I would like white rice instead. Ok fine. The plate comes back and I taste the rice with a bit of the curry and it is TERRIBLE! The blandest rice ever and the curry was bitter as hell! So then I'm like fine, I'll just eat the cabbage. Honey the damn cabbage was ICEEEEEEE cold!!!!! Howwwwww Sway!?!?! I picked a piece up and let the waiter feel it. He just shook his head. He was extremely apologetic but I assured him it wasn't his fault because clearly he wasn't the one cooking. After all that I ended up eating a turkey burger and fries read more

The peach martini was really good, and my friends enjoyed the bottomless mimosas. The music and atmosphere was good. R&B and filled with a bunch of women ready to eat. The food was mediocre - out of a party of 8, no one really enjoyed their food. Everyone just felt that it was just "ok". The space was also pretty small so reservations are necessary. read more

This is a nice chill spot where you can enjoy some great food. They have outside and indoor eating. Hookah for outside if that's your preference. Thursday night is R&B night with a DJ playing some great music. Started off with some honey old bay wings and crab dip and fries with a aioli dipping sauce. One of the best crab dips that I have had in MD. Main course was the Unity pasta. Comes with chopped up salmon with shrimp and a nice tomato cream sauce. Chefs kiss! They give you a nice healthy portion as well. Most likely to have some for the next day. Nice vibes. Full bar. And can't wait for my next visit! read more

Unity Bar is a cute spot right across from Mt Vernon Marketplace. My friend and I went for happy hour on a Wednesday night which could have why it was so chill. Either way, I enjoyed the vibe. The inside is quaint and a bit dark but otherwise pretty pleasant. We sat at a high top right across from the kitchen. Our server checked on us frequently and took good care of us. The menu is your typical bar menu, especially the happy hour options. Our food was hot and pretty tasty. No complaints there. I will say I would love to come back and try a few items from the menu. I caught a glance of the chef and I trust that she knows how to appropriately season food to perfection. I would also like to come back and check out the weekend crew. I would recommend for a spot to grab a drink and a quick bite with friends. Not super fancy but has the right idea for the mount Vernon neighborhood. They play decent music too. I would definitely recommend. read more

This place is amazing! The vibes are immaculate! You enter to a cozy place and the playlist never disappoints. The food is fantastic! Burger was great! Fish tacos were great! This place has one of the best wings I have had. The wings are crispy and still moist. Their happy hour prices are great as well. I am in D.C. for a week and I have been to Unity four times. This place is just that good. The only thing I can knock it down with is the waitress. The waitress had never came back after she took my order, but that was only one time. Great bar definitely coming again! read more

Not sure how long they've been open BUT I feel like they have to iron out a lot of kinks: Cons: 1. The drinks are watered down we literally didn't taste any alcohol. One person in our party even sent their drink back. 2. We ordered 4 different dishes which came out at 4 different times. Enough said! 3. The food was basic and bland. Severely under seasoned. 4. Service is slow. We literally only saw one server. 5. The place is small and the seating is weird. Not enough sufficient space for the amount of tables and chairs in the establishment. 6. Limited menu. Pros: 1. The music was a vibe. They were playing the mixtape of a local DJ; which was nice. 2. Fully stocked bar with various options. read more

Great customer service. Love the variety of pasta dishes. The salmon is always a great addition.

Stopped in Unity Bar and Restaurant for our Easter Brunch and really enjoyed ourselves. In trying to patronize businesses outside of DC proper, I was pleased with Unity overall and will definitely be back when I'm near Bmore again. We made a reservation the same day for a noon brunch time and I'm glad we did. Although the restaurant wasn't packed when we arrived it quickly filled up. The restaurant is fairly small but it gives a very intimate but elevated neighborhood bar vibe. There didn't seem to be a live DJ as advertised (unless I just didn't see them) but the playlist today seemed to be very Biggie heavy, and I'm not mad at that! Our waitress (I'm so bad with names) was so nice and attentive although having several tables to manage. The brunch menu is pretty limited to breakfast leaning dishes but there is something for everyone. I originally wanted to have a handheld egg sandwich listed on the menu but the waitress informed me that she didn't think the kitchen was making sandwiches anymore..weird since it's a menu offering but I opted for the chicken and waffles to keep it simple. I think I made a good choice! The chicken was fried HARD and seasoned really well. It came with 4 wingettes...I just wish they were either full wings or just more. Maybe a breast filet or thighs instead? I like to eat my chicken with my waffles, not separately ya know? So I found myself picking the chicken apart to have a bite with the waffle. Just my preference lol but still a really solid dish! I also wish my waffle was more Belgian style (crispier and golden brown on the outside, soft on the inside) but it was a fluffier waffle, still delicious. It came with fresh berries as well as a compote on the side. My husband ordered the catfish and grits which he really enjoyed. It's a small dish on its own so he ordered a side of eggs and potatoes to go with it. They have a full bar with just about every liquor imaginable in stock. Very impressive. The bottomless mimosas were on the expensive side ($35) IMO to be premade but they definitely hit! All in all it's a solid lowkey brunch spot. I'll be back! read more

I had the pleasure of checking out cozy & quaint Black owned & operated, Unity Bar and restaurant for a Sunday late lunch / early dinner. The inside had some high top tables and some very cute lounge style seats that were closely set, so I recommend making a reservation ahead and checking this place out for date night or perhaps a girls' brunch / girls' night out with 2-3 friends. They are best suited for smaller sized groups. There is street parking and an adjacent pay ahead parking lot. There was really good nineties and early 2000's hits the DJ was playing during my visit with a mix of some of our favorite oldies but goodies. Micah or Michael was the name of the young man that greeted us, took us to our table, and was our server. He was awesome and kept our drinks filled, our plates coming out piping hot, and our questions and concerns addressed with a smile. He went out of his way to make sure the games we wanted to watch were playing and I can't say enough good things about him, but on to the delicious stuff.... The food from Unity was all a hit. I tried the sweet and spicy shrimp appetizer that was perfection and just as described on the menu. I also enjoyed the honey old bay wings that were more honey than old bay, but delicious still. The shrimp fried rice was both perfectly cooked and seasoned and got devoured by our table. The curry shrimp entree was also amazingly flavored and cooked to perfection with a generous enough portion for us to have a little left over that was still delicious when reheated the next day. I don't eat oxtails but I heard they were also very good and the lamb chops and garlic mash did not disappoint. Unfortunately the lamb chops were waaaaaay overcooked BUT, I chalked that up to them being a little thinly sliced and on the bright side of things they remained juicy and tender and didn't lack in flavor which is often not the case for lamb when it's cooked very well done. Shout out to the bartenders that poured some delicious margaritas and strawberry Hennessys for our table. The prices here were comparable to DC's hot spot bar and lounge pricing, so you'll want to bring out your bigger purse or wallet to enjoy the good times and better food at Unity, but rest assured it'll be worth it. The bathrooms were clean and the surfaces weren't sticky which we also loved. read more

I will also say the drinks are pretty strong so you are bound to have a good time. As far as the food was concerned it unfortunately was very underwhelming. Originally, we were going to Garden Rooftop but they were closed for a private event. The bouncer recommended us to go to Unity which was only a few minutes away. The blackened catfish was delicious also. They had a live dj and the music was tolerable for communication. Highly recommend this location. read more

It's a small restaurant so I'm not sure if I would recommend making reservations because it was a Saturday night and not really packed. It's straight forward when you walk in. The setting is dark but very classy. There was a dj but you could barely see him. The staff is really nice all greeted me when I walked in. I didn't order anything to drink other than water with lemons and limes. I wanted to try the fried rice with chicken and shrimp but I asked the waitress about the catfish and she convinced to try it. There was also crab and shrimp pasta, I was scared that would be too big so I just stuck with the catfish. It was actually really good! A little over seasoned but it balanced out the rice. The Cajun creamy sauce was topped perfectly. My date had the honey old bay wings with Mac n cheese. That Mac n cheese was so rich and cheesy!!!! No, just no. I've had Unity on my list for a minute. So me and a friend attempted to dine in last night (Sunday) for dinner. Upon entry, we attempted to sit at the bar. We were told by a security guard that there was no bartender but someone would still be able to make straight drinks for us. Red flag. After he spoke with us, we attempted to sit down just for another young lady to tell us that we had to sit at a table since there was no bartender. Mind you, there were two other patrons sitting on the other side of the bar. I guess they knew somebody... The young lady (who wasn't very personable) sat us at a high top table which was placed awkwardly. After being seated, we were forgotten. We sat for about twenty minutes before deciding to leave. The young lady, security guard and other employees were all standing by the front door. None of them even looked our way as we were exiting lol smh. I know this spot is popular for Sunday brunch, and maybe they were exhausted from that? Even though that's no excuse. I want to support Unity but they really need to do better..... read more

It was a disappointing experience I went to Unity to celebrate "Galentine's" Day with my best friend who was visiting. We wanted to dine at a Black owned establishment in Baltimore so when we found Unity, we were eager to go for brunch! Here's the run down: Waited over an hour after being quoted 40 min Friendly atmosphere & good DJ (hence the 2 stars) Waited over an hour for 2 entrees & a side that never came out from a limited menu Inattentive server & management was more concerned with profit than the lack of service we had Lackadaisical owner who dismissed us Maybe dinner is different? I hope so because I truly do want to see Black businesses thrive but there's lots of need for improvement here. I won't be back. read more

We came here after the ravens game. It wasn't what I expected based off of tik tok but it was still an overall good visit. We were seated quickly, the food and drinks came out in a timely manner. The drinks and the food were good. The music was good vibes, my only complaint was I asked the waiter for butter, salt and pepper and she didn't bring it until I was pretty much done my meal. I went there this past Saturday for B.O.R.T. to support Black Owned business. Well where do I begin. 1st we were seated at a two seat high table right in front of the women's bathroom. We were so close that we could smell whatever the person did in there which isn't a pleasant feeling to have considering we were there for dinner. We asked the hostess if we could move to a table right next to us and was told it was reserved. So we prayed no one went in the bathroom with an upset stomach lol..... the reserved guests didn't show up for another 90 min so we truly could have been moved. Next, it took 20 min for us to get our drinks. Our waitress was pre occupied with her phone. The chef came and asked if we were ok. We shared the issue with the drinks. We had them in less than 2 min. When the food arrived it was Luke warm dang near cold. By the way things were going, it was no point to complain. I had the lamb chops that were unevenly cooked and grilled vegetables that were raw.... They were clearly just seared on both sides to give a grilled appearance. I wasn't even asked how I wanted the lamb to be cooked cooked. My friend had the oxtails that she said were good just minimal meat. At least the plate was pretty. We get the check and of course gratuity was included hence the poor service from our waiter. I really try to support my own but I won't be doing this again. Too many nicer establishments. The one star is because my drink was tasty. read more

I made reservations for us to come a week in advance and we arrive to the restaurant yesterday 5 minutes before our reservation time which was Sunday, December 22nd at 3:55pm but our reservations were for 4pm. We were stoped at the front door telling us the kitchen is closed until 6pm. So why would they allow us to make a 4pm reservation. We were so looking forward to coming to this establishment and eating after seeing a few tik tok posts. So we had to now go find somewhere else to eat at. The website needs to be updated and the booking system also needs to be updated because if you close for a few hours due to the ending of brunch this needs to be said. Not to mention we drove 1 hour and in half to your establishment. read more

Food and drinks are great......as long as you don't mind waiting. We had reservations for 4 at 3pm. Restaurant was closed when we arrived, doors opened at 3:10. We got water, finally at 3:30, ordered drinks and appetizers. Received drinks at 3:40 and appetizers at 4:10pm. At 4pm, staff was bringing in groceries (maybe that's why the food was slow, are they not prepping during the morning or evening before?) They really weren't ready for us and the three other parties with reservations. They comped us fries because of our wait. We received our entrees at 4:45pm and waited a considerable amount of time for our second drink of which I had to keep asking the waiter to check on them. We had drank our first drinks , waters and ate our food before he finally arrived with our second drink. We just could not enjoy ourselves because the wait was exhausting. We ate and left by 5:30pm. This place has great potential but it lacks preparation and timeliness. Two of the bar-height tables should be moved. They were right outside the restrooms. Who wants to sit there? Music was nice, food and drinks were delicious but the wait for everything made the overall experience underwhelming. I love any opportunity to support black-owned businesses. I hope this little spot gets it together fast. I plan to visit later in the summer maybe, by then it should be better experience. read more

I really like Unity! It's a vibe. Awesome atmosphere and the music will keep you vibing. However, I am not please with ordering a cocktail and asking for a double and my check is $45.00 including a service charge and tax. I don't mind spending money, but if I spend $45 on a drink, atleast ensure that it's a good STRONG one. I could have bought a bottle of tequila for $45. Please be advised, the service charge is included at this restaurant. When restaurants include the service charge, I don't leave an additional gratuity. I will probably give Unity another try but only during happy hour or for food ONLY. And probably will drink before I dine with them since the drinks are weak. read more

Let me start off by saying I've been wanting to come here for a few weeks. I drive the Pink bus on Sunday's by it all day & the vibe is crazy (gotta get to one of their Sunday brunches)! So I jumped at the chance to make this my destination of the week. The atmosphere is dope live DJ with a banging blended R&B playlist that really sets the mood off. The service was awesome I meet my cousins at the bar & our bartender was fast, nice, & made our experience the best. Unfortunately we just missed happy hour which is from 4pm-7pm weekdays we got there a little after 7. I elected to go with the salmon BLT & fries. Another plus of this place is they allow you to switch out pork bacon for turkey bacon. A lot of places don't allow that & make a big fuss about your preference. When I tell you this salmon BLT was made to perfection I almost ordered another one so I could take home & have for breakfast the next day! This is definitely one of the new hidden gems in Baltimore that you must check out. Only downer I must note is it's located on Park ave & Centre street so if you're from here you know what that parking search is going to be like. Plus for you hookah lovers (like me) unfortunately they are only allowed to serve hookah outside so if you're dining indoors cause of the weather you have to save your hookah tips. Other than those 2 little issues this is a lovely spot that I will definitely be making a monthly visit too. Plus the owner was super nice came out greeted us & thanked us for supporting the business. That's always a plus in my book. read more
