Asked them on Friday morning if they could have this cake ready by Saturday and they did not let me down. Cake was finished when we stopped by to pick it up by noon. My boyfriend really loved the cake taste and look wise. Also! Would like to add that they are super friendly here and also very professional. I had to bring the modelo can myself which was no problem whatsoever. I would definitely recommend them for the flavor and the price. read more

Katy's Bakery - Tres leches birthday cake - Bakeries Near Me - Long Beach, California

I decided to give this bakery a shot years ago due to all the great yelp reviews and I never looked back! All the pastries are baked fresh every morning (the conchas are my fav) so even if you come in the afternoon, they still taste like they just came out of the oven! I've ordered multiple birthday cakes over the phone and the ladies working there always make my transaction so painless. I like my cakes with fruit filling (banana & strawberry mostly) and they have always nailed the design I wanted - In addition, the cakes are always perfectly baked and everyone at work/parties consistently asks where I get them! Pastry and cake prices are definitely fair compared to other bakeries. Lastly, it is a local family owned bakery, the owner is extremely friendly and her staff knows how to treat her customers! You WILL NOT be disappointed! read more

It was my wife's bday on a Sunday. Porto's was out of cakes so I started calling a lot of bakeries everyone was out of tres leches cakes except for Katy! Nice quick substitute very moist cake. read more

Out of 4 birthday's this is by far the best cake I've had made and be eaten. Tasted phenomenal unlike other bakeries I've had that make too far ahead and freeze it to keep the decoration (they're made morning of so they're fresh and moist) I was also worried how they'd be able to make certain decorations without fondant (since they don't work with fondant) but they exceeded my expectations! It was simple and cute but still perfectly detailed. The woman that works the front (not sure if it's Katy or not, I know I'm horrible for not asking) is so helpful and explains the process in detail as well as any other ?'s you have. Everything I could've asked for and for $40! Will definitely be my go to bakery as long as I live in Long Beach and/or need a cake. read more

Fact: I have never been to a panaderia before today. But I've lived just up the street from here my entire life. So, here's what happened. I walked in and the place was empty. Like, not even someone at the front. I could kind of see someone working in the kitchen in the back. But that was cool, because I didn't know what I was there for or what I was doing, so it was nice to be able to look around and get my bearings without a clerk waiting for me to do something. There were two cases filled with all kinds of gorgeous-looking baked goods, a fridge full of drinks, and some assorted cake-making and decorating accessories on shelves. Except I had this long moment of "wtf do I do." because the cases are out in the shop, and you are clearly supposed to pick your own and bring them to the counter, but I didn't see bags or anything to fill up. Thankfully an older man who could've been Morgan Freeman's cousin walked in just as I was turning around in circles cluelessly and demonstrated the correct procedure. You're meant to pick up one of the round metal plates on the front counter and a pair of tongs, and pick your selection from the cases with the tongs and put them on the plate. When you're done picking, take the plate up to the register and pay. Makes total sense, but would I have figured that out on my own? Definitely not. So I grabbed my plate and tongs and then I'm faced with a new dilemma. What am I buying? I randomly selected a few pastries from the nearest case, because they looked good. I had no idea what they were, because nothing is labelled. I got home to find I'd bought a cheese bear claw, a cream cheese and jalepeno croissant, and a bread-puddingy block of calories that has yet to be definitively identified. Yeah, I am super white. But the woman who rung me up was very nice and asked if there was anything else I needed, and spoke perfect English (worth noting for the mono-linguals like me afraid to venture out into North Long Beach for that very reason). Adventure in my own neighborhood = success. read more

I am Mexican. Through the years I have had the especially delicious Pan,(translation: bread. duh) AND the 3 day old $0.50 Concha from other bakeries that makes a knocking sound if I drop it on the table too hard (that they have no shame in selling by the way). I have to share with you fine people, that this bakery, is by far, the best "Panaderia" I have ever been too. Here's why: -Their bread is fresh and stocked CONSISTENTLY. Day or night, and probably at 2 am on a Saturday night. -The prices are very competitive -The location is very clean, they take great pride in their bakery, and it shows -Their bread and cakes are delicious Finally. I've been wanting to review them for years. Ok I'm done! read more

We were looking for a new bakery for my sons 10th birthday. We had tried and were disappointed by so many bakeries in the Long Beach area, but the reviews for Katy's bakery were positive that we gave it a shot. I went into the bakery to order my cake. It was clean and the staff was very helpful. I had to email them a picture of the design we wanted, and got a confirmation back that they had received the picture. The cake was moist and delicious. It got many compliments from our guests. Most importantly, everyone ate the cake! (versus the last cake we got somewhere else that ended up in the trash can). The only negatives I have are 1) there was too much whipped cream on the cake. 2) I had already pre-paid for the cake ($35 + .50 transaction fee = $35.50), but when my husband picked up the cake they tried to charge him $36.00! read more

Very down to earth, home style neighborhood bakery. Beautiful looking cakes. Very TASTY breads and OMG, so inexpensive. I had a jalapeno/cream cheese crescent roll and it was fantastic and satisfying. Cost? $1. Yes. Really. I have to say that the customer service was also superb. These people are very friendly. This isn't my neighborhood and I stuck out like a sore thumb. No worries though. The staff was friendly and very helpful - sweet really. Yes, Katy's is a must-try. It's worth the drive. read more

We always get the marble cake. One level is vanilla and the other chocolate with buttercream frosting. Their cake is not too sweet and the bread is so moist. We also get the tres leches if the party is indoor. Also, they do whatever theme we request from them. read more

I live on north side Long Beach and have shopped at probably every single panaderia in the area and this one is by far the best. The quality is unsurpassed and the service is personable. The bread is made fresh every single day, the bolio is great, and the prices are decent. Of course, like every other establishment, prices have gone up, but it's still reasonable. If you have any special orders they are willing to take them and they're great on working with you personally. I would never get my wedding cake done by them, but I always go here for birthdays and celebrations because that is their specialty. I love their chocolate with oreo cake, tres leches, and fresh fruit cakes. They're moist and the icing to cake ratio is perfect. Unlike any other bakery I've been to, their quality is consistently great and the bread here is always fresh. OH! Don't forget to call them and ask when the bolio is coming out of the oven. It's usually at 1pm. It comes out extremely warm and soft! yummy read more

First timer here. I really enjoyed my experience here. I was looking for a local bakery last minute and yelp did not let me down. Everything looked fresh and pretty in the case. You need to grab your own tongs and tray and pick out what you like. I grabbed a large amount of cookies for an event (20-25) $6.00! Cute older couple that were super friendly. If you are around Long Beach, craving something sweet to go with your hot chocolate or coffee. Stop by Kathy's for some pan dulce or bolillos. Employees are very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable. They also have cakes, I suggest pre-ordering. read more

Customer service is great, price can't be beat for what you get and taste really good. We ordered chocolate cake with banana filling and we got many compliments on the cake and were asked where we ordered it from. The only thing is they spelled monster wrong and when I asked if they can fix it, the man took the cake in the kitchen, brought it back out and said since I didn't like it, he threw the sign away. Tried to explain that I loved it but it is spelled wrong but he just kept saying I didn't like it, he didn't fix it and said it was just extra. I've tried few other bread/pastries and I loved them all. Their tres Leche cake is good too, usually not a fan. Last thing, you might want to take someone with you to pick up the cake. They didn't have a cover for the box and cake is heavy. read more
