I like the fact that you accept DEBIT/CREDIT cards and it's a small clean bakery. I have tried the small flan for $1.00, it's yummy & perfect size. I am so impressed by not only the quality of cake I received, but by their level customer service. I had such a great experience from beginning to end. They even accommodated an edible cake decal that I had ordered online, (Which was not near to the quality of photo cake decals that Katy's has, next time I will order all my cake needs here!) but none the less, the cake looked perfect! The young lady who took my order over the phone was also there when I came to pick it up and she was very cheerful and helpful. At the party everyone commented on how cool the cake looked (It was a San Francisco 49er cake as my boyfriend is a HUGE fan) But when we finally cut into it, people raved about how delicious it was. I ordered chocolate cake with chocolate filling and the filling tasted like pudding, it was sooo good! People asked me all night where I got the cake, and I told them all how awesome Katy's Bakery in north Long Beach is. I had placed an order over the phone which i thought was great, i was afraid i would have had to come in and place the order in person. I ordered a tres leches cake that said Happy Birthday Steve, Phil and Luna with a Virgo symbol. My fiancé picked up the cake and when it arrived, i noticed that it did not say Happy Birthday and they misspelled Steve's name even though i confirmed the correct spelling of each name over the phone. Instead, it was spelled Eteve LOL. On the bright side, everyone thought it was pretty hilarious and loved the cake. I would have liked it to have said Happy Birthday, this may be a concern to others though so i thought i'd mention it. Be sure to check your cake upon pickup! Also, their website says they deliver in the About US section but when i asked about it, they said they don't deliver so that was a little confusing. Katys Bakery has the best tres leche cakes I've ever tasted. I've purchased several cakes & the fruit is always fresh. I usually order cakes work strawberries. They only use the best. Workers are sweet & kind. The prices for the cakes are extremely reasonable. They can even make a custom cake with only 2 days notice!! If ur in the area they even sell cake by the slice!! They described the tres leches as "not too sweet", "light", and "simply delicious". This is my first review on Yelp. I just had to leave one for this awesome Bakery! I heard about this bakery from my friend who had them make a 49ers cake for my birthday. And the cake was so good with marble and real strawberries! So I went to them for my cousins baby shower and I wanted a small 2 layer anchor themed cake for my cousins baby shower. At first they said they could only make it for 40 people and up. That was too much for her party so I went for a one layer, even tho I was bummed I couldn't get the 2 layer for her. When I came to pick up the cake they totally surprised me! They said they were able to do the 2 layer smaller after all. And they even put an anchor on the top of the cake for me! It was amazing and way better than the picture I showed them. My cousin and everyone at the party loved it! My cousin said it was the best cake she has ever had made for her. Their prices were great, they were very friendly and easy to work with, they delivered on time, and even gave us a break on the delivery fee since we were slightly out of their delivery range. This bakery made a cake for my son's 6th birthday. It was a last minute save since the Baker I had canceled a week before. The top layer was beyond dry but the bottom layer wasn't so I swept it under the rug. They did inform me over the phone that they would keep a $25 deposit for not returning a cake stand that held the two layers. The party was on Sunday and on Tuesday I returned the stand. Upon giving it back the lady at the front told me that she would have to deduct $5 for a cleaning fee. I told her that one, I tried cleaning it as best I could but couldn't get out what was stuck inside the stilt part (it had cake) since they push it into the bottom layer. Second you make your customers drive back to rerun it for their deposit and I was NEVER informed of a "cleaning fee". I would give them zero stars if I could. read more
