Though I don't eat cupcakes often, this is always the place I go when I have a craving or want to gift someone. And I love to support our long standing local businesses. This week they began a permanent pop up at Moon Bridge donuts, serving up a selection of their most popular flavors on weekday afternoons after the donut shop closes. Stopped in there today to grab a little treat right when they opened up at 2:30. I usually get white cake with vanilla buttercream and confetti sprinkles, and lemon with lemon frosting(my favorite) but tried their flavor of the month- lemon with strawberry pieces and strawberry buttercream frosting- and it's divine!! The cake was lemony, soft and moist; I only wish there were more strawberry pieces in the cake, i'm not a huge frosting person but this strawberry cream cheese was sooo yummy and blended well with the cupcake. I loved how they packaged up the single cupcake. There would have been an extra charge for the special single box, but I took a chance on their regular packaging and it worked perfectly! They have a little collared protector they attach and it didn't tilt or move around in the bag. The frosting never even touched the sides of the bag. Service is always friendly and efficient. I wanted a few cupcakes to honor my late maternal grandmother and found a few items that my mom and I could have. The store is neat - decorated with an awesome mural, several candles and gift items. My mom enjoyed plain vanilla and I had the cookie butter (light flavor) and coffee gluten-free (more pronounced flavor) varieties. Each had moist cakes and an appropriate amount of frosting. The cashiers were friendly, however there was a missed opportunity to have me sign up for the rewards program. When paying, I was asked if I was participating and stated, no, this is my first visit. I usually go for the 4 pack and mix up the flavors each time. I love their red velvet, royal white with chocolate or vanilla buttercream, and the strawberry with cream cheese are all heavy hitters. The 4 pack doesn't last long in my house. Nothing goes to waste when it comes to these cupcakes. The staff is always friendly and ready to assist you with your cupcake needs. The staff were welcoming, warm, polite, and attentive. They went over the cupcakes flavors, which was great being it was our first visit. Have you ever had something so good that you were low grade mad that you didn't know about it sooner? As luck would have it, I had the pleasure of having Frosted Cupcakery...only to realize they have been around for quite a bit of time. Finding a decade old 5 star review from my an old roommate as well as a glowing review from the infamous Hazel Q and numerous Elite friends were a slap in the face. FC should've been on my radar years ago! Maybe algorithms didn't work the same as they do now, but at least now I have a go to cupcake spot! Sprinkles used to be my fix when I wanted a cupcake only because they're relatively easy to find and consistent. That being said, I typically try to split a cupcake or only eat half the frosting because Sprinkles tend to be super sweet. Frosted Cupcakery is tender to the bite and although the frosting is spread generously, it is not overly sweet. Another detail I love is that FC is not greasy as I've found most Sprinkles cupcakes to be but I've always just accepted it. HOW DO THEY DO IT? My son got the mint chip which was not overly minty and paired perfectly with the chocolate cake. The strawberry cream cheese and browned butter are tied as my current favorites depending on my mood.
