My wife had been a bit sad the day prior due to some bad news, and she wanted sweet treat to help her cope. The next morning at work, I found The Village Cookie through a little Yelp searching! The more I read about it, the more excited I got! This place is run by MHALA, giving those with mental health needs a chance to integrate into society. What a fantastic idea! I bought two chocolate chip cookies and one white chocolate cranberry cookie. My wife loved both, and she's a cookie critic! We do recommend that you warm your cookies up at home in a toaster oven or air fryer for optimal flavour. The service I received at the counter was excellent! The gentleman assisting me was patient, communicative, and welcoming. During my visit, it looked like they were developing their signage outside. I loved the large, painted letters and colours. There are a few seats within if you want to relax and enjoy your purchases. I was surprised to find the menu included more than cookies! There were sandwiches and other items I have yet to explore, as I was solely on a mission for cookies. I would love to return to try more of the menu and for more cookies! Everything about this place- amazing!! Delicious cookies- good to the last crumb!! One of the best cookies I've had in my life. Great customer service, especially from Kevin himself. He came to greet me and introduced himself as well as inform me of their purpose and mission. Bless this heart! Clean, spacious, and well organized store. This social enterprise holds a special place in my heart when I participated in Mental Health America's Jump Start program years ago. I've ordered cookies from here as gifts for years because I believe in the mission and cookies are good. Admittedly, they have made mistakes on order deliveries, so double check. I'm so glad they fixed mistakes, which were understandable and I'm very forgiving knowing the social enterprise provides paid job training and work experience for those who have mental health challenges and those who have had experienced homelessness. They've been quite generous and I love supporting them through the years. And cookies are good. read more

OMG, WHAT A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH!! Okay, 1st let's talk about the cookies (really, that's all that matters, right??). DELICIOUS! I'm a bit of a dessert snob, so I have somewhat of a high standard when it comes to confectioneries. My bf's birthday party was coming up & his dessert of choice is always cookies. I just found out my go-to cookie place closed down, so I needed to find a local replacement asap! I found The Village Cookie Shoppe (thanks Yelp!) & decided to stop by to taste a few cookies before putting an order in. I called them to clarify directions (they don't have a storefront, they're inside THIRD WAVE MARKETPLACE), & found out they only do made-to-order cookies. I though I'd have to look elsewhere, but the Manager (Kevin) told me he actually had a couple of cookies on hand that I could come sample. Came in & loved EVERY flavor, including the brownies! Which leads me to my 2nd point... the customer service is A1!!! Kevin went above and beyond, completely going out of his way to accommodate my order. I was really impressed with how well he handled this order & I'll definitely be a return customer because of that extra service! Found out they also do sandwiches too! Oh, plus they're owned & operated by Mental Health America of Los Angeles which supports the needs of individuals with mental health issues... I didn't have a chance to take any photos, because as soon as I unwrapped the cookie box, my coworkers dove in! I ordered on 12/21 for pick up at 10am on 12/22, I ordered a 2 dozen mixed cookies and brownies box, and it was ready on time, curbside pick up. All the staff I spoke with, esp. Let me just say this is by far one of the best cookies I have ever eaten. My favorite is the choclate chip walnut! Super delicious and have not eaten any cookie better and I have had my fair share. I was at one point a Long Beach,Ca local which is how I was lucky enough to stumble across these cookies at a local farmers market downtown. From there I have followed them since. I currently reside in Utah and I still order cookies from the cookie shoppe. Hands down my favorite cookie place of all time and they have such a good cause in all the people that are being helped and supported by the program. Unexpected surprise. Our office received a box as a holiday gift, and in all honesty, when I read "cookies" I set the box aside. My experience with cookies is that they are hard, tasteless, and a waste of calories. But my boss opened up the box and my eyes lit up as I saw a variety of flavor options. We agreed to split one, and ask our hands grasped the cooked and softy broke apart a doughy and soft surprise, my mouth watered. The taste did not disappoint. DELICIOUS!! No wonder they have won best cookie in Long Beach--it should be in all the world!! The cookies are moist and made fresh daily (no preservatives). I had a peanut butter one (OMG YUMMY) and then had to get an entire box to sample all of the cookies (and don't forget the brownies--SUPER moist)--YUMMY!!! I have sent them to friends as gift for birthdays, holidays and even during "corona" (as a pick-me up in these quarantined times)--I have all made them believers of these amazing tasty morsels from heaven! I HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE ACTUAL SHOP. But what I do know is that they have a cookie stand over in the Farmers Market every Friday over on city place in long beach. I also know that this is a charitable non profit organization i am almost sure, but what I am mostly sure about is that their cookies are absolutely the greatest tasting things on this planet and the most tasty things known to humanity. It is cash only at the farmers market. The cookies i've gotten are quite soft, real sweet, somewhat smaller than big, and you might think that the price is a little high, wether you can afford one or alot more their taste are always be worth it. These cookies are fantastic... they taste exactly like homemade from grandmas kitchen. Definitely have that "made with love" factor going on. I am part of the mental health program at Cerritos College and came here for a mini immersion. First of all, this place does an amazing job helping out members of the Community. I strongly encourage anyone visit this place and get inspired. I tried the banana nut muffin and it was honestly the best tasting muffin I have EVER had. I can taste the love and the passion that was put into their ART. I will def. be coming back for more pastries in the future and I will be sure to let my friends and family know about this wonderful gem.
