HORRIBLE customer service. I ordered a custom cake for my daughter's 100th day party. I chose the STORK DELIVERY cake. On the "sample cake" it read BABY HAPPY BIRTHDAY. So I advise the salesperson that I need it to be JOY, HAPPY 100 DAYS. Easy instructions right? I even wrote it on the order invoice to make sure it was JOY instead of BABY. On the day of, I go and pick up the cake for the party. It's already 6:30pm. When the clerk opens the box to show me.... LORD, behold! It reads INSTEAD OF JOY BABY HAPPY 100 DAYS. . Omg omg I was speechless!!!! I wish I took a picture of it cuz it was insanely unbelievable. I didn't know whether to cry or laugh! the two workers there helped me wipe the cream off n rewrite it correctly. the decorator had already left. I demanded to speak to the manager but she didn't pick up. Not really having a choice, I paid and left. I let them know that the manager had to compensate me somehow. Next day I call, the manager is not available and the clerk tells me she talked to the manager and there's NOTHING she can do because technically I paid for the cake. That makes sense, but BUT I literally had no choice because I was counting on THAT specific cake and it was late. I told her to have the manager named NORMA call me back. After a few days of no call back, I called again and finally spoke to the manager. She said I paid and that the clerks fixed it for me on that day and it was fine. I explained to her that they didn't have a choice but to make the situation BETTER but that they weren't professional decorators and that it was a bit messy and there was so rough edges. She said that I paid so technically that it's my fault. I wish she felt a little apologetic or offered me a small discount or even a small free cake or just SHOWED a little sympathy. NOTHING. she was cold and heartless as if it was MY FAULT. I told her I'd have no choice but to share my story on yelp and she said "YOU GOTTA DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO." ??????? what kind of manager says thAt ? This really makes a good story during the dinner because never will I ever have the words INSTEAD OF on a cake again. My friends laughed so hard when I told them. end of story: Don't waste your money on custom cakes here because if anything goes wrong on THE DAY OF they turn their heads and look the other way. On special occasions, you need to make sure nothing goes wrong!!! read more

We were in search for a cake for a quinceñera, and we were so lucky we found Katy's bakery. We showed them a few pictures of what we wanted and they delivered!! We opted out of the delivery option that they offer, but I would definitely recommend spending the extra cost for delivery. I was a nervous wreck in the back of the car while my hubby drove. Love the pan dulce! I was looking for a local nonchain Mex bakery and thanks to Yelp I found this gem! I got there on a Sunday morning grabbed a metal tray and tongs and selected what caught my eye. I got the cheesecake like square, a round soft bread with bits of brown sugar baked in it, jalapeno and cheese bread and a concha fresh out the oven. Took them home warmed them spread a little butter on them. I was in heaven. That cheesecake bread tho! You put it on a saucer get a spoon get comfortable spread out and savor it slooowly. The stars I'm giving this bakery is for the bakery itself, it is delicious. I always get my cakes/cupcakes from here and have never had a problem with customer service, they all seem nice. However, yesterday I sent my friend to pick up cupcakes that I had ordered and paid through the phone. When she got there one of the ladies gave her the biggest attitude. She gave her 12 cupcakes (different color) when i had ordered 24 cupcakes. She kept insisting the was my ordered and told her that I paid 18 dollars when i had paid 30. After going back and forth with her, she realize she was about to hand me someone else's order!!!!!! I didn't get her name but someone needs to give her some customer service lessons and maybe next time get the correct information before handing out an order. read more

Every time I go to Katy's, I'm always greeted by the sweetest people; no matter what time of the day. I've been to several other bakeries that sell pan dulces, but they don't compare to Katy's Bakery. My absolute favorite is the elote. One of the few reasons why I've gained 8lbs. I visited Katy's for the first time last night. There was a steady flow of folks picking up pan dulce, which I had to try of course. They have a pretty big selection of pan dulce. They also had flan and tres leche cake (which was very good also). They had ready to take decorated cakes in the case but were able to do a custom order for me for today no problem. I asked for one layer of white, one layer of chocolate with barvarian cream and strawberries, $25 ready by noon. It came out exactly how I wanted and got great reviews at the party, even from former bakery workers. I would definitely go there again. read more

Every year I go to Katy's bakery to buy a birthday cake for my partner. I absolutely love this place. Small shop owned by people of color. This year, I asked them to bake a COVID themed cake since we were celebrating under quarantine. Emailed them a picture and they were able to replicate the coronavirus cake that I wanted, minus the actual coronavirus. I was very happy with the affordability and the effort they put into designing the cake. They even replicated using fondant the toilet paper I wanted attached to the cake. I love Katy's bakery. Parking is on the side, and the bakery is located in between other stores. There is few parking spaces but you can park on the rear. Secondly, when you wall you're surrounded by the aroma of baked bread. Yum!!! It is a small and quaint bakery and from my experience those are usually the best tasting! This cakes solidified thay thought for me! It was a round cake for 5-6 people to eat and it was a tres leche flavor! This was the absolute best tres leche cake I've ever had in my life! So, worth it! Beautiful cake!!! Originally I wasn't expecting much since I didn't give them too much details about the birthday cake I ordered... Just chose the Color writing size flavor at the time of ordering... And It was going to be a photo cake. But when I emailed them the photo to put on top, I also requested some decoration on top of the cake, like roses or flowers, if possible.
