Hand-pressed burgers are almost a thing of the past, but alive and well at Kaliburger. The menu is limited to only a few options, which is fine since it meets the needs of most folks and is perfected taste-wise. In addition, there are a few side items and salad options. Everyone has a different idea of what a juicy burger is, and to me, these burgers have really good flavor, but were surprisingly a tad dry...but hey, that's me. The fries are good hot, but once they cooled down...not so much, so eat them quickly! The staff is friendly and helpful if you can't decide. The prices seem a bit high, but it is a hand-pressed burger made to order and not your typical frozen patty. However, the burger seemed small for the price as well. In any case, you place your order at the counter and pay in advance. You get your own drinks and refills as well, however, they do bring the food out to you when it's ready. Please be aware of this because again, you do pay in advance, and you will get the guilt-tipping screen when payingby card. To avoid this, you may want to make sure you have cash for the tip jar later instead of tipping up front. This restaurant is in the former location of Leroy's Café - Hole in the Wall. They have transformed it inside and it's cute. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a vehicle in front for extra entertainment with seating as well. The parking lot is very small and hard to maneuver. I suggest backing in if you can manage it. My brain really wants me to wax poetic here and talk about the symphony of flavors on these burgers, but my stomach probably has the better point. If you like hamburgers, this is the spot. Cozy spot with indoor and outdoor seating, an exceptionally kind hostess, and a simple menu. A formula for success. Before today, I would've said no one make burgers like they used to. But Kaliburger does. Their burger and fries fill the box and offer more than plenty share. Across two servings of fries for three, we couldn't finish what they gave us. And the smash burgers were perfectly cooked to crispness, with an abundance of toppings sandwiched between two delicious, pillowy buns. At the end of the day, it's just a really good burger, and I know where I'm heading the next time I want one. read more

The patty (sadly) was dry - not really caramelized but - dried out - there was way more stuff than meat - no where near $7.99 good - so do I compare this to other burgers? Second time I have dined in, and the food is so good! Burgers are tasty and light not over filling. Fries are good, but thick and lack seasoning. Maybe if they were thinner they just might win me over. Vegan shakes are all tasty, I have yet to give the strawberry one a try; next time I am in I will ! Service is GREAT! On our way back from Jacksonville to Palm Coast we felt cravings for hamburgers and Kaliburger had great reviews. We're able to eat on their shaded porch with our dog. You order inside, menu is limited to hamburgers but they were delicious! Fries and onion rings were great as well. I've wanted to try this place for some time and finally had an opportunity to stop there for lunch. Parking is tight but there is a sign indicating you can also park in the lot adjacent to theirs. The interior was cute and clean, a bit small especially with people lined up for orders, but there is also an outside dining area on the deck. Service was pleasant and efficient. I ordered a Mojo's with Tempeh and a US 1 burger with fries. Both were excellent. It was my first time trying tempeh as a burger substitute and although lacking that excellent charbroiled flavor of a well-grilled smash burger, the texture was very similar. With the toppings in every bite I could almost forget it wasn't meat. I tasted the actually beef burger and that was outstanding. Fries were hot and fresh. Vegan chicken Kali and the plant based Kaliburger was super tasty, and the Mojo fries with jalepenos and mixed vegetables were an interesting and tasty option. I love the shredded lettuce on all the sandwiches but could do without the melted cheese which tasted pretty ordinary. (Owner said the name comes from the business partners daughters name) Once I took the time to look at the menu and photos seemed like a simple spot for a meal. We've eaten at Kaliburger quite often. We're vegan and we do not eat out often. The food and service has always been great. Things were off today. I ordered the vegan chik'n. When our food arrived, I looked at my sandwich and it was a chicken breast. I returned it and I did get the vegan chik'n. We ordered milkshakes and they came after we had finished our meal. There was only one person working the counter. Anyhow, we returned home and I got very sick. I know this is a vegan option place so there is going to be cross contamination with animal products. Simple menu, with 4 options for combos of toppings, and 3 burger choices (angus beef, a tempeh patty, and the Impossible burger). My mom had the angus with cheddar and said it was so good and juicy. I had the tempeh Mojo style with lettuce, cheddar, jalapeños and avocado. She didn't even realize the cheese was vegan. In addition, both sauces and the shakes are vegan and nut-free. You can order fries plain or topped with grilled onion and sauce. The fries were good, but next time I'll ask for them to be cooked xtra crispy. I tried the Mojo sauce and the Kali sauce and both were very good depending on what you're in the mood for, the Mojo being slightly tangier with a bit more heat, while the Kali sauce is everything that goes great on a burger all mixed into one (that was my preference between the 2). There is a soda fountain and also self-serve sweet and non-sweet tea. The staff went above and beyond to help and everyone was super friendly. Anne-Marie and Rick have great vibes. There's ample parking and several indoor high tops, as well as 6 or 7 outdoor tables that each seat 4. The hours are a little limited now, aiming more for the lunch crowd on weekdays. Who knows, maybe they'll open more as they figure out the flow of traffic and/or get staffed up. They've only been open a week and they're killin it so far. She also recommended adding the cheese sauce for the fries, and I will be forever grateful to her for that because it's easy to miss on the menu. I believe for the burger, fries, cheese, drink, and tip it came to about $15. Worth it, and I've been back several times. This new restaurant on U.S. 1 opened by the owners of Mojo's Tacos is becoming one of the best burger joints in town. There's a spicy Mojoburger with the same Mojo sauce as their taco place, a Kaliburger with their tasty Kali sauce, a U.S. 1 burger that's more traditional and Impossible and Tempeh burger options. The Mojo fries covered in sauce and fresh Jalapeños are also a favorite. On my visit yesterday I tried an Eclipse milkshake, which is a plant-based milkshake available nowhere else in St. Augustine. Love that there's finally a fast food place in the area that offers vegan options. I've had their Kaliburger w/ impossible meat and their vegan chicken sandwich, and both are delicious. Love their 904 fries, smothered and covered in their amazing Kali sauce. Love the vegan milkshakes too.
