Food is great and the servers are awesome. The manger and bar manger are extremely unprofessional. They both lack people skills. Tonight they engaged in a screaming contest with a client which was a total shit show. They both need to go back to the basics and learn some managerial and people skills. read more

Kalaveras - Asada tacos - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Simi Valley, California

Lively Bar and Restaurant with Dia de Los Muertos decoration theme. Tacos were $4-6 each but big meaty filling. Rolled tacos were like fat flautas but nice as , apps - potato ones were unique! Went about 6pm and you could tell they wanted to turn tables but didn't get rushed. Decent basic marg, fun flight of Flavored margaritas. Shot too? Decent chilled Patrón Añejo shots for us. Not watered down real Deal. Another table got a bunch of shots so when they brought them out, the Dj put on Lil John "Shots!" and the lights dimmed while they served them. Kinda funny! Will go again read more

Nice place, nothing like it in Simi Valley Food is good, love quesabirria tacos A bet pricy for Simi Valley, specially drinks, very small and $$$$$ Service is poor, with the place almost empty on a Thursday night the waitress take the order and never showed up again until we needed the bill, no going back I'll probably go back to my regular places like El Patio, El Capitan etc read more

Server was rude showed no interest in his job. We had to keep flagging him down for service . There was only 3 tables to serve . Establishment was practically empty. food was cold and had no flavor or seasoning. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE! I'm so happy Simi Valley finally has a great restaurant with GREAT MUSIC, drinks and even better food!!! The service was exceptional. The manager was awesome, he came around and gave my sis-in-law and I a free drink which was so nice of him. This will be our go to spot going forward. Loved everything about the location. It is such a vibe! If you're not into having a good time while having dinner and drinks then this place isn't the place for you!!! Keep up the great work. read more

Food is okay. Service kind of slow but it was a busy brunch day so I guess it was fair. Ambiance was loud and seating was tight. read more

The food here is fine. No complaints there. It's just so damn loud inside, my family could only sit, eat, and look at each other. Couldn't talk without yelling. My watch notified me that it was over 90 decibels the whole time. Makes me worried for employees' hearing. read more

The food was on point. We just had brunch with bottomless micheladas. I had all 3 flavors and I'll give 9.5 out of 10. The service was great... we had Renato serve us. We will totally be coming back - Gracias! read more

Been here about 8 times in the last 12-14 months. The food is okay at best. There are definitely better places for Mexican food in Simi. I like to go multiple times before writing a review. However, the service is consistently bad. I think out of the eight times we've been there it's been okay twice. Regardless of Taco Tuesday night or any other week night, the service is consistently bad. Always slow to come to the table for initial drink order, have to ask for things multiple times (refills, chips, settings, napkins, etc). There are always multiple managers on, but they seem absolutely clueless and don't seem to have a concern for how bad the service is. On this particular night multiple tables were getting up and going to the service area/kitchen in the back asking where their food was, asking when they would get refills, asking for checks. You know things are bad when multiple tables are getting up and trying to self serve themselves. Very poor management. Service, Prices, and Food are much better elsewhere in Simi. read more

La comida y las drink estan beunas lo unico malo esun poco costoso y el.servisio tarda para poderte atender

Service is still horrible has not changed since it opened . The Bartender is rude no eye contact my glass sat empty for a good 20 minutes never acknowledged it ! BUT he sure acknowledged the cash for the bill . Still no eye contact !! ( big guy dirty brown hair and tattoos on his arm. I will stick to the #2 Kalaveras. In MTB ! read more

This will probably be the WORST review I've ever posted. First of all, I made a reservation for Sat the 16th last Sunday. My friend and I wanted to celebrate his birthday here because we've heard great comments about the other locations. We came in and noticed that there was only a few people dining in so we immediately got our table (which wasn't even set to begin with), we got the menus and then our waitress came to greet us and asked if we wanted to order drinks. As we were looking at the menu, I noticed that the waiters were setting a table right next to us for a party of about 15 ppl with menus, cloth napkins and utensils which made me wonder why we never got that in the beginning but whatever. Anyway, then, my friend ordered a horchata but ended up getting Jamaica so I got up to go talk to our waitress and told her that they brought the wrong drink so they brought the horchata. Secondly, we ordered the nachos with the asada ON THE SIDE, we never got the asada. We were still waiting for the napkins and the utensils, and we would've waited all night if I didn't ask our waitress for it- so we finally got it. Then, we were getting ready to order dessert, OMG! Our waitress was nowhere to be seen, we waited around 20 mins and finally spotted her- some girl with black hair and long, black eyelash extensions with blonde spots on each side, hard to miss. At the end I told my friend that I didn't want the flan anymore, I had waited long enough and the service was TERRIBLE, we were being treated like no one wanted us there so I asked for the check, holy sh*!! Another 20 mins waiting for the damn check. Wtfffff!!! Horrible experience, the food wasn't even good, and the service was the worst I've ever received anywhere. Sh** dude, I go eat at those little "hole in the wall" type of places and I get exceptional service even when they're busy as hell. This place wasn't even busy and the service was still super freaken CRAPPY to the point that I even regret coming here and I WILL NOT be coming back. Even the guy that was sitting with his family behind us said that he was having a bad experience when she asked if everything was ok!! At the end, it doesn't matter how nice the interior of this restaurant is, if the food is bad or not that great, at least the service should make up for it but I got neither of those. What a damn waste- SO SAD! That waitress shouldn't even be waiting tables with that arrogant attitude. And it's sad that a restaurant is getting these type of reviews because of one person that doesn't want to do her job right. read more

The food was decent not as filling like the taco Tuesdays. The service was somewhat slow, since they seemed they were understaffed. Kevin the Waiter/Server that helped us was a delight and made sure to refill our drinks and chips. The ambiance was a little louder for my taste, if you like clubs but seated the whole time and enjoy taco Tuesdays, this is the place! read more

I highly recommended for Sunday brunch! Their food is delicious, super clean, the drinks are BOMB and the service was excellent! It's a great place to hangout and enjoy the ambiance! Will definitely be a returning customer! read more

Food and service is amazing. Barbacoa and chicken quesadilla were delicious. The flan alone is worth the visit. Oh, my.

Food is largely really good and different from other local Mexican restaurants. If you liked the old Sabor in the Lakes in Westlake you'll likely like Kalaveras. The shrimp tacos in particular are delicious. Service is good and the help is nice. Downsides: it's expensive for what you get and inside it is super loud ... really loud. You will struggle to hear your dining partners. We will go back but won't be regulars. read more

Good was great and the ambiance as well . The drinks not so much as they do put more juice than liquor.

The service in this restaurant was good, however, the food was better than decent, but it was the ambience that was completely offputting. The music is way too loud to enjoy any sort of conversation. The music was also very sexual and the music videos playing on all the screens are just short of porn. Not a family restaurant in any way. Don't take your kids. My teens were uncomfortable. This is more like a bar scene, with good food in it. . read more

Best Mexican food in Simi Valley hands down!!! Get at my boi Josue behind the bar for some top notch drinks!!! El Chamuco

Love the atmosphere! Jair was an amazing waiter! Service was awesome! Definitely recommend.

I sat at the bar. The service was great, friendly staff. The drinks tasted non-alcoholic. I ordered 3 Mojito Precitos. THREE. I should have felt something right? Nope. Didn't feel anything. The drinks just tasted like sparking mint water. Very disappointing. Also VERY LOUD inside. Not the best place to bring small kids. read more

Seated quickly, but surprised at the prices for a meal and drinks when reviewing the menu. Was not offered chips and salsa when seated. Not sure if this was an extra cost. Waiter did not do a great job reviewing menu and food recommendations. Ordered meal, shrimp enchilada dinner, but would it be $24 dollars good. Was tasty, but did seemed a bit pricey. One positive it did come out quickly. Shared my rice and beans with husband, his meal did not come with his tacos. Service was fair, waited to get refills after almost finished with meal and did need to flag down the waiter for service. Not related to meal, but restrooms were dirty and NO paper goods stocked in the whole restroom. Would I go back, probably not, there are many Mexican restaurants in Simi that have amazing food and drinks for half the cost and much better service. If you want a good bar vibe and don't mind paying twice as much for Mexican food with drinks, this is your place. read more
