Just discovered that I messed up. This review for El Patio Cantina I somehow posted under El Patio Restaurant on 12/21/22. I'm posting it in the correct place instead, and will delete the original from the other, larger location. -5/15/23 We've been here quite a few times; am surprised that I haven't written a review before. While I'll admit that the interior is dated, I can enthusiastically give them five stars almost exclusively for their Shrimp Fajitas. They are always outstanding each time we order them. One order is plenty for Dear Hubby and I to share, and we both end up with satisfied tastebuds and full bellies. The shrimp is served perfectly cooked, plump, juicy, and tender - really a standout dish. They do offer complimentary chips & salsa, which are okay. They usually hit the spot while waiting for drinks to arrive. The bartenders always do a great job with virgin margaritas - my beverage of choice here. When the weather is warm, we prefer to sit outside on their patio, versus inside. Either way, we've received friendly and efficient service. Their East Simi location, south of L.A. Avenue is a sleeper location, but we recommend going and finding them, especially if you like shrimp fajitas like we do. Cheers!

Big plates full of food - they don't skimp - and the food is good. The Cadillac Margarita reminded me of authentic Mexican Margaritas - they were amazing! Quaint little hole in the wall. Don't skip the sal

It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday so ig friend and I wanted to find a nice patio to dine at. Well, when it's right in the name you know you can't go wrong!! I got a chimichanga and my friend got the chicken quesadilla- we both enjoyed our food and the decent size portions! We also each got one of the specialty Margaritas that had an orange liquer and a regular one, and both were delicious. Looks like they have a weekend breakfast special as well that I saw a menu for when we sat down, and would like to try out sometime! I'd definitely come back here.

Sauceless flavorless fish(well sort of, it was super fishy)

Should have known better, but I gave it a try. Happy hour menu they gave me said margaritas were $5 and fish tacos for $10. Margarita was basic, pre-mixed. I should have asked but fish tacos were grilled and not good fish. When I cashed out the margaritas were $8 and the fish tacos $11. I questioned it, no refund. Honor your printed menus or reprint the single page happy hour menu! I'll never go back

I've been here several times and have brought friends in my more recent visits. Well worth the trip to Simi Valley from the west county. Their food is delicious and their Cadillac Margaritas will not disappoint. All three in my party loved this place when we stopped there on our way home from the San Bernardino Mountains a few weeks ago (118 / 210 when visiting the Inland Empire from Ventura County). This is a local neighborhood kind of place and it appears to have a loyal following. Always a good sign.

Steak Fajitas

Just had a great meal - ended up deciding to go here last minute and it was a good choice. I ordered Steak fajitas and they were delicious with enough left over for lunch tomorrow. My friend Betty ordered the Asada beef burrito especial - and said it was the best she has ever had! We asked for some hot sauce and they brought us some of their house made HOT sauce. Has a great kick and I asked for a container to the rest home. Definitely recommend this neighborhood gem.

Asada burrito especial and steak fajita. Yummy for my tummy!

Very impressed. I ordered their asada burrito especial and it truly was the best burrito I've ever had in my life and I'm a picky eater! Their chips and salsa are good too. My friend ordered the steak fajitas and he loved his dish also. A hidden gem, I highly recommend.

Stopped by on Memorial Day. It was quiet and had a few customers. We sat in the bar area which was nicely decorated and clean. The waiter was attentive, brought drinks and chips with salsa. The soups were hot and flavorful. The carnitas plate was delicious. It was a nice portion served with corn tortillas. The arroz con pollo was generous and authentic. Prices are reasonable and there is ample parking. Check it out!

Bean Dip. Pretty good.

My friends and I came here for dinner the other night and I was absolutely blown away by this spot…read more Visually, it's a stunning place and they've done a fabulous job with the aesthetic as it's the kind of place that feels like a party. Neon lights, cute signage, and overall they just did a really great job with the design and execution. There's a lot going on but it doesn't feel cheap. Ambiance is definitely A+. For dinner on a weeknight we found this spot wasn't too busy but we also came after happy hour. It was a relaxed vibe. Service was overall pretty good. I felt like all of the gals working were very very sweet and nice. Also, anytime we stopped them to ask for refills and such we got what we asked for. That's my only upgrade as since it wasn't super busy, it would have been nice for the staff to catch the refills on water or salsa on their own/more proactively but hey, it was again a relaxed lowkey night and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. I'm just curious how the service would be if they were super busy? Now on to the food and drinks. The menu was very impressive! Solid cocktail and drinks menu. I'm bummed I didn't get a cocktail but my party doesn't drink so it was more fun to get an agua Fresca with them. The guava one was good and served nicely chilled. However, next time I'll definitely get a cocktail because their drinks looked fun and beautiful. The food was definitely the standout for me. I ordered the cheese enchiladas Suizas and they were a 10/10. Not comparable to most enchiladas I've had but the sauce was fantastic and unique. I really loved these enchiladas and I'd honestly get them again. Solid flavor in the rice and beans as well. My friends also enjoyed their meal and it seemed like everyone was happy. The pricing is a little steep for Mexican food but also the ambiance and presentation make sense to me why it'd be a little more. For the three of us the bill was over $100. And that's for three mains and three non-alcoholic drinks. Normally at $33-ish a person I'd hope for at least a beer with my enchiladas, so keep that in mind. As a special occasion place or a spot to celebrate this spot is truly fantastic. I honestly loved my meal so much that even with the price point I'd rush back and bring more friends because this spot is vibey. Nice staff and a cute spot to diner, 5 stars in my books given the quality, taste of the food and the overall experience.

They do not skimp! My burrito was quite hefty and included a hearty amount of the ingredients. Paired with the smoky spicy red salsa, this is one burrito that will last all day long - it's great for two meals! Aside from being a considerable amount of food, it was absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Also, the cheese pull is quite impressive! Got it for take out and haven't dined in yet, but I will definitely be back!

Didn't really feel welcomed. I got as much welcome as from a fast food establishment, which isn't all too bad...just doing the job. Cons: Food was bland (breakfast burrito and Huevos con Machaca) compared to Mission Burrito. Salsa, came in plastic bottles red or green, were very weak. Overall, price for food was average. But considering what we didn't get which is flavor, I thought price was too much. Not sure if I'd return, but only if someone pays for my meal first which I'll gladly reimburse if they made it better. 3 stars is average, so I'd give it a 2.5 at most.

The food tastes fresh, homemade, and not overly greasy like a lot of Mexican spots can be. You can tell they actually care about what they're serving. The portions are generous without being over the top, and everything comes out hot and well prepared. I've tried a couple different things now and nothing has disappointed. The flavors are spot on and feel authentic. The staff has been helpful and patient both times, which makes a big difference, especially when you're deciding what to order.
