This place wasn't very busy when I went in, but I always knew it was gonna hit because of the way it was decorated. It was quiet and chill, a good family-friendly place with a chill staff. The food was sooooo good and I will definitely go back again, I'm so excited to crave Mexican and return here LOL. The burrito with pork was delicious and the red and green salsas it came with only added to the flavor. My boyfriend also noted how it wasn't too heavy which was nice, and I'd agree that nothing was too greasy or heavy. Authentic Mexican food with nice staff. This place seems more of a takeout place but my husband and I gave it a try. Especially since it has great reviews on Yelp. There is ample parking. No problem finding a spot close by. Once we entered the restaurant, the server asked if we were ordering takeout. I let him know we walked to dine in. He told us to grab a seat and brought menus. There is a limited alcoholic drink selection - beers and margaritas. The margaritas are legit! Tasty and strong, just how we like them. We were super impressive with the quality and freshness of the food. You could tell that the tortillas were homemade. My husband got the carne asada plate. He loved it! I tried a bite of his taco - delicious! I ordered the Huarache which is a tortilla stuffed with beans and a good selection of toppings. I got the carne asada. I added avocado to my dish too. Additionally, we ordered a side of guacamole too. The guacamole and salsa come with chips. If there is one thing I would change, the chips. They seemed store brought. The carne asada tacos were bland and even the green sauce had zero flavor. The pupusas had potatoes inside and that was strange and not appetizing in my opinion, there was no cheese pull and no tomato sauce provided. The best thing was the cucumber lime drink. First time here and I am happy I gave it a try! I decided to go with the Huarache with pastor and it was very delicious! I loved the pork, it's was diced up and nice and tender and juicy. The handmade corn tortilla filled with beans that it all sat on top of was very good. Great chips and salsa. I topped it off with a Pacifico, and had a great lunch! Will definitely be coming back. Sooooo, I wanted to rate this restaurant as the reviews reeled me in. I came here on a Sunday afternoon with my husband to have some quality time, and luckily we were in the area and found this place. For me, huaraches are a delicacy because not every Mexican place offers this dish. The name itself is very catchy. So I ordered a couple different things per the yelpers advise; for one the huarache, second the quesadilla dorada with Tinga and lastly, the coctel de Camaron, by the time the coctel came out I was stuffed and took it to go! The real review in the huarache was a 3 for me. Not great because the meat quality wasn't good. They use a cheaper thinner meat that has a lot of fat. But the taste for the huarache was decent. Secondly, The quesadilla was too oily... it came right out of the fryer, which for me was excessive . Lastly, the coctel I think was the highlight. We took it home and had it for dinner, after some refrigeration the ingredients married well together and was very tasty! So I definitely recommend the coctel. read more

We ordered enchiladas suizas, burrito asada, 2 torta de pollo, and pupusas. I don't have any pics of the other food!! Enchiladas: my mom said it was amazing. The food was fresh and hot (we waited a good 30 minutes so if you're in a rush don't go here). The only con was that it was small but it does come with rice and beans. Burrito asada: was a good size. My dad loved it and they gave us a lot of sauce for this. Torta: was yummy and fresh. The only complaint is that it was on the smaller size. Pupusas: I got 3, 2 with cheese and one with cheese and beans. AMAZINGG. Sooo soft and fresh. My only complaint is that the sauce container was completely small for three (see video). And they're more on the expensive side (2 for 9.99). The place itself is very cute. The waiting seats were couches so we were very comfortable waiting to the side on the couches. It was nice and cool. When we entered there was only 2 families. They were already eating and then more people came in after. This was around 2 pm on Friday too. Overall 4/5 because the portions are on the smaller side for what you are paying but it wasn't dramatic (we paid around $60 for this). read more

I ordered food for the birthday girl with Door Dash on Monday. I finally talked to her this evening and she enjoyed the carne asada - said the meat was tender and tasted good. When I asked her about her two street tacos she shared there weren't any tacos with her order. Disappointed her order was incomplete. Not sure where the tacos went, but definitely not to her. Had another amazing dinner here at El Huarache, I swear its like home made and just like mom's home cooking, it somehow gets better with each visit. My wife said she wanted taco's, and who am I to keep my love from what she desires? This place makes some amazing handmade tortilla hard shell tacos. Our new favorite is to get two tacos and then split a burrito smothered in the worlds best green sauce; tonight we had carnitas. Our hats are off to the entire staff here. I just recently moved from the SFV were we have a taco spot and Mexican within a mile radius and I'm so glad I found this gem stone. The service is superb and the staff is very friendly. I recommend the huaraches and the fried quesadillas (hechas a mano)hand made tortillas. The ambiance is casual but yet hipster. Stopped by for the first time today. I ordered the 3 taco plate to-go. I got chicken, al pastor and carnitas. I asked him if it came with chips and salsa, he said not for to-go which is weird because every place gives you some with your order, whatever. When I opened the bag, there was some chips and salsa. He was so kind, attentive, and patient. He definitely made the experience even better. Theres a lot of seating and the decor is all on theme and pretty. The food, I have no words. We ordered a few different dishes. The food was delicious and the quality of the food was excellent. People typically think tacos when you see a Mexican spot, but this restaurant really introduces you to the diversity of authentic Mexican cuisine. Tonight I was not sure what I wanted for dinner. Husband flipped through the list of restaurants around town. Hit this one on the list. My brain popped back to high school days. I had a little hole in the wall mom and pop shop in The Valley on Roscoe I'd go to. They had the best Huaraches. They sold and the new owners didn't make them any where near as good. That being said I needed to try these tonight. Saw that they carried Pupusas needed some of those, too. They have the Queso con Loroco ones. Yes!! Absolutely delicious! Tacos al Pastor??? Yes!!!!! Extremely good. Very flavorful. Good home cooking taste. Let's get to the Huaraches... very very delicious. Authentic flavor. I had them with chicken. Amazing flavor. I order from here often but today was bad. I ordered two tacos and Chips and Salsa. The Tacos were good and that is why this is not a 1-star review. The green Avocado salsa included with the chips was so watered down it had the consistently of water! How do I know this isn't how it comes? 1) I have ordered it before and 2) Because I was given the same salsa as a side with my tacos and it had a normal salsa consistency--thicker and not watered down--it also had SO MUCH more flavor. This place was recommended to us from our tax guy. I had the tacos dorados and my husband had the tres colores burrito. Both items were yummy. The food and the portions are great for the price. The michelada was delicious . Music being played was spot on. They have awesome art all over the place . It's cozy but not too small. Located in a strip mall, parking is sometimes a challenge but don't let that stop you. This place has some of the best mexican food in Simi Valley. I actually miss going to the office so I can have this place for lunch. The chili verde is something of a mystery, looks like it's canned but doesn't really taste like it - good stuff.
