OMG--how have I lived in California for more than 20 years and never been to Yolanda's?! I was starving and needed to grab something small quickly, so I ordered a shrimp enchilada to go, and I was absolutely blown away. You will not be disappointed. Let's talk about that shrimp enchilada. The sauce is phenomenal. It's layered, sweet, savory, and so full of flavor that I could honestly eat it weekly. I also loved the sauce bar, with multiple sauces you can choose from and take to go. And I have to mention how much I appreciate a restaurant that sends you home with a bag of chips. Such a sweet touch...it makes the experience feel special. I also love that Yolanda's understands that people want to support local restaurants while still needing some affordability. Their happy hour is a great option for that, Monday through Friday. I included a photo of the menu so you can see all the options. And most of all, Yolanda's should know how phenomenal their staff is. I spoke with Ema, the host, at length, and what a wonderful young person. Ema knew the menu, gave me great tips, and clearly knows the food. She told me a favorite is the Asada Burrito, both with fresh avocado as well as the Asada Fries. And one last little detail I loved: the "thank you" with a heart sticker on the takeout packaging! What a sweet note to include with someone's to go meal. These details really make a difference tell you so much about how thoughtful this restaurant is in all that it does! Yolanda's you have a new fan - I can't wait to come back. This is not about the food. The food remains good, and I've been a regular customer here for over 15 years. What happened on my most recent visit (Feb 7, around 1 p.m.) was deeply concerning. I was falsely accused by management of making an "inappropriate" comment to a hostess--without any specifics, without verification, and without any meaningful opportunity to clarify. My only interaction with that employee was a brief request for Sweet'N Low at the front counter. There was no conversation beyond that. Despite this, I was confronted and warned I could be banned if it "happened again." This is the second time this manager has made incorrect accusations toward me. I had no conversation whatsoever with the hostess. A Better Business Bureau complaint has been filed. They acknowledged it and requested a response from Yolanda's. To date, there has been no response to BBB or to my direct written correspondence. When a business does not respond to formal complaints and fails to verify serious allegations before confronting customers, that raises broader concerns about how situations are handled. We love Yolanda's! It's perfect for a family dinner out. Casual but tasty and always reliable for yummy food and drinks. We love their salsa, chips, margaritas, and tacos. My husband ordered the seafood burrito this last time and really enjoyed it. I ordered my classic--two crispy beef tacos à la carte. So good. For drinks, I got the jalapeño margarita and my husband got the spicy mango margarita (very good). Service was great, as always. Just took my girlfriend there for happy hour. She got a Cadillac margarita actually two of them, they were amazing! I had a light beer and we had a quesadilla. Just wonderful. They have happy hour till 7 PM every day. The bartender was amazing and so kind. It was my girlfriend's birthday and she got a lot of attention and that meant a lot to her. I lived in Camarillo for years and LOVED Yolanda's ... I'm giving a 2 ... but it should be a 1 .... Simply because it's a local Company and I do love the other locations. The Simi location is by FAR ... the least impressive - embarrassingly so! Tonight we went and the section at the far end of the restaurant was where they were seating everyone .. annnnnd zero AC. The rest of the building had AC - but the section they decided to sit everyone in - NONE. No lie it was 15-20 degrees hotter and insanely stuffy. So we moved to the bar - took 20 minutes to get a drink order in, 40 minutes after our food order to finally get food .... That clearly had been sitting under a heat lamp for 10+ minutes. Food was subpar and nowhere near the quality or recipes of the Camarillo and other Ventura County sites. Wife had about seven cubed pieces of meat in her carnitas and about three cups of sauce. Overall - and this is the norm for this site - it was an absolute DUMPSTER FIRE! If I'm the family or group or whoever operates Yolanda's I'm sending all the crew to the Simi location because it is flat out embarrassing. I'm a big fan of Yolandas and have eaten at their various other locations many times. They serve excellent Mexican food at reasonable prices and have good service. They have several locations around Ventura County, but I've never had the opportunity to try this particular location until now. I was not disappointed. One nice touch that I do appreciate is that they have a salsa bar with several varieties of salsa to choose from. They will leave their standard red salsa at your table along with a basket of chips when you are seated, but feel free to also help yourself at the salsa bar. read more

A great place to relax and unwind after a long day/week with a margarita! The food leaves a little to be desired, but the ambiance is great and the patio is enclosed so you're never get hit by the sun or elements. I ordered the Chile Colorado and we got a side of guacamole with our chips and salsa. The guacamole had whole chunks of avocado in it still and was hard to eat. We resorted to using and fork and breaking it up into smaller pieces, just a little more work than we were hoping for. read more

Excellent typical American-Mexican style Mexican food. The waiter was very attentive to our party of 6! Chips and salsa were served as we sat down and refilled when we asked. We drove by one day and noticed The restaurant is really nice. We decided to give this place a shot. We were disappointed with the quality of the food. I thought, oh maybe it was just what I was served - chile verde. I asked my wife how she liked her food (shrimp enchiladas) and she was also disappointed. Same with my mom, disappointed with her food. Really nice place inside and out but the food is not authentic Mexican food. I changed this to a 1 bc I talked to my 10 yr old about his hamburger , he said it was the worse hamburger he ever had. My wife and I just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary and wanted some place special for our reception. Having eaten at Yolanda's very frequently over the past 9 years, we already knew the excellent quality & taste of their food and polite & attentive wait staff. We met with Ruth, the manager to plan our meal. She was very helpful and carefully explained all of the options. We choose the Cajun Buffet and booked the side room for our reception. Ruth even recommended a great bakery - Skiff's - for our cake. When our special day came, we couldn't have been more pleased with the room layout, the quantity & quality of the food, and the helpfulness of the wait staff. Dani was in charge and responded quickly to our every request. During and afterward, we received many complements on the entire evening and how much everyone enjoyed their dinners. The only surprise was when I went to pay the bill and it was much less than I expected. I had missed the note that the per-person price included the tax and tip. I got food poisoning. My chicken tacos tasted like salmon. I was sick within one hour. Threw up for hours. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I have been going to this location since I was a small child. Several months ago they had a sewer leak. Here we are months later you walk between the kitchen and the restrooms you could. Still smell raw sewage. The food is excellent, but avoid the chicken tacos. They are fried as most Mexican restaurants do but this place does not drain the grease you end up with a plate full of grease and shells that just fall apart. read more

When we first entered ,as a couple,we were told to add our name and phone number on a wait list. We were told it would be about 5 minutes. So we took a seat to wait. Meanwhile, other people were arriving and immediately seated and not added to the waitlist. After about 4 groups were seated upon their entry, we inquired what was going on with seating people and no one checking the waitlist to see if any of their names were on there. We finally asked one of the hostesses why we were being overlooked. The couple she was about to seat overheard our complaint and offered for us to take their place. We looked like jerks and made us uncomfortable with the situation. Don't put names on a waitlist if you are not implementing according to a normal process of first come,first serve. We were up to try a different Mexican restaurant, and somehow ran across Yolanda's as a good alternative. The parking is a little weird. Parking in back, walk around and enter the front after hiking up a ramp. A large entryway opens to an impressive looking salsa bar. A busser brought water with chips and salsa almost immediately. The chips were thin and crispy and house made. Not greasy at all. The salsa was well balanced both in sweet-hot-acid, but also viscosity. It stuck to the chips no problem. Pretty soon -- within less than 10 minutes -- our server came and took our drink order. Iced tea. It was most welcome on a hot day, fresh brewed and not from a bag n box machine. For lunch we ordered chicken fajita for two. It was plentiful, with the fajita mix arriving on a sizzling hot cast iron plate. On a side-plate were toppings and sides; the ubiquitous beans and rice. The chicken was tender and the veggies were caramelized perfectly, with charred edges. The seasoning and sauce could have been more... Mexican. I'd have liked more of a spicy rojo sauce. The sauce was more like a thickened clear broth reduction from the chicken and veggies. We could have added cholula or salsa but didn't. We were stuffed pretty quickly so we brought about 1/3 of it home. If you go with three people, you'll have plenty to eat. We never figured out the purpose of the salsa bar... read more

Disappointed in food quality and service. We used to go to Yolanda's frequently and recently found other spots that put more effort in their food. We ordered the breaded fish tacos and the waiter seemed more interested in the speed of service versus listening to us. It took 3 tries telling him what we wanted and 3 incorrect meals coming out to get the food right. When we actually got the tacos, It ended up being a small triangular piece of fried fish that you could easily make in your air fryer. Just a fish stick placed in a flour tortilla... no effort at all. The shrimp quesidilla was ok and held us over. If you want an amazing fish taco go to Baja Taco in the Ventura harbor. And Tradewinds offers thoughtful food that is worth the money. A lot of variety like crab enchiladas and delicious drinks. Overall, I think Yolanda's is used to getting business and is missing the depth of food. You can make similar dishes at home and save the money. It's more about getting a booth and a margarita. Another favorite spot. Yolanda's is consistently great. I had my usual cheese enchiladas and all rice no Beans. The wife had the taco burrito which is huge so there is always lunch for the next day. The Chile Relleno was so tough, the coating was completely separate from the Chile, the cheese was not melted at all and I had to cut it with a knife when it should have been delicate enough to slice it with a fork. I sent it back and they remade the dish for me and it was still gross. I think it was frozen and not fresh at all. Our waiter didn't ask if this one was any better nor did he say anything about me not eating the second one either. My son ordered the carne asada medium rare and it was tough. My son's gf had the chicken taquitos and she shared one with me, it wasn't good either. Not crispy, chicken was dry and no flavor. I used to love Yolanda's in Moorpark in the early 2000's but now?
