I really loved these enchiladas and I'd honestly get them again. Solid flavor in the rice and beans as well. My friends also enjoyed their meal and it seemed like everyone was happy. The pricing is a little steep for Mexican food but also the ambiance and presentation make sense to me why it'd be a little more. For the three of us the bill was over $100. And that's for three mains and three non-alcoholic drinks. Normally at $33-ish a person I'd hope for at least a beer with my enchiladas, so keep that in mind. As a special occasion place or a spot to celebrate this spot is truly fantastic. I ended up ordering their Cookie Butter Latte and it was so delightful. So far, all their drinks are spectacular but I think it's the Maui milk that just hits every time. Now the interesting part was that they advertise cooking with Beef Tallow which I found disappointing. Unfortunately it seems like Makenna fell for the MAHA nutrition misinformation and nonsense and think cooking their food with beef tallow is healthier for you than cooking with seed oils. *Sigh As someone who has an education isnutrition and health, I have to say this was disappointing to see especially after looking forward to ordering their food. FYI beef tallow is not healthier to cook with than seed oils. Seed oils in isolation is not inherently bad for you. In fact, there's an abundance of evidence that shows seed oils aka polyunsaturated fats reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and LDL cholesterol. The part that gets misunderstood (especially if you're relying on social media and influencers for health advice) is seed oils are usually used to cook ultra processed food which is a COMBINATION of high fat content, refined carbs, excess sodium and added sugars. So it's not the seed oils alone that's unhealthy. Polyunsaturated fats are a healthier alternative to saturated fats like beef tallow which is silly to consider for cooking because you're just adding more saturated fats which raises LDL cholesterol and increase the risk of heart health. So yeah thanks for coming to my TED talk. But in all seriousness just felt the need to spread the word. Really wish Makenna can just go back to cooking without beef tallow and then I can try their breakfast burrito and all the other deliciousness! Everything else was chill though. I'll still be coming back for their amazing drinks.

Kulturas had a soft opening on September 3rd, 2026, and they are scheduled to have their official grand opening on September 24th. I recently visited this Kulturas, and I plan to write a yelp review on this new business soon, after I have had a few more visits here and I've solidified my opinion. However, now that Kalaveras has closed, I'd like to post my review on my experiences here. I have been to this Kalaveras about a dozen times over the last few years. Throughout all my experiences the food and the drinks were always very good, and I had no problems whatsoever. The service at this Kalaveras was very good most of the time, and I only experienced one bad waitress with a bad attitude. The atmosphere here was always clean, vibrant and inviting. The only problem that seemed to exist was that this restaurant was VERY LOUD inside, so much so that the people I regularly go to restaurants with often did not want to come here. I've seen other folks mention how loud it was at this Kalaveras in their yelp reviews as well. This atmosphere appeared to be targeted for an audience in their twenties, and in large groups, especially for folks looking for a club/night-life environment. Unfortunately, I believe this environment was just annoying to older folks, or even any age group of people who actually wanted to hear the person with whom they were talking. Overall, this Kalaveras was a very good restaurant with very good service, with only one major flaw: the loud noise. From my first experience at Kulturas, it appears that the owners and managers here are trying to make improvements, and they are trying to transition this restaurant from a 3-star or a 4-star location to a 5-star location. Based on my first experience at Kulturas, they might succeed.

Let's talk about that shrimp enchilada. The sauce is phenomenal. It's layered, sweet, savory, and so full of flavor that I could honestly eat it weekly. I also loved the sauce bar, with multiple sauces you can choose from and take to go. And I have to mention how much I appreciate a restaurant that sends you home with a bag of chips. Such a sweet touch...it makes the experience feel special. I also love that Yolanda's understands that people want to support local restaurants while still needing some affordability. Their happy hour is a great option for that, Monday through Friday. I included a photo of the menu so you can see all the options. And most of all, Yolanda's should know how phenomenal their staff is. I spoke with Ema, the host, at length, and what a wonderful young person. Ema knew the menu, gave me great tips, and clearly knows the food. She told me a favorite is the Asada Burrito, both with fresh avocado as well as the Asada Fries. And one last little detail I loved: the "thank you" with a heart sticker on the takeout packaging! What a sweet note to include with someone's to go meal.
