Decided to try this place out after seeing mixed reviews. This place is located on the right side of Cork and Batter, so the ambiance / decor is good. I walked in and was greeted by Rakeila who was very nice. However, the first problem arose when she was not sure what items were and weren't gluten free. This is not a problem with Rakeila, but rather management, who should simply list this on their menus, both online and in the restaurant. After figuring out which items would be and would not be gluten free, I ordered a double burger, w/ hot chiles (see receipt attached). I added on the combo which includes fries and a drink. I then ordered an LA dog w/ jalapenos and bacon only and a second order of fries. The bun was omitted since my wife has a sensitivity to gluten. The total came out to 38.61 before tip. I then sat and didn't have to wait too long before the food came out, which i promptly took home. The burger was surprisingly small for 14 dollars (see attached). I understand that it is made of smash patties, and that the beef is high quality, but it still feels too pricey for what you get. I would rather pay 20 dollars and get a larger burger. The flavor of the burger was actually quite good - the beef has a nice level of char and flavor. Infact, flavor-wise, this is one of the if not the best tasting burger in Simi. However, the second problem was that my burger was missing the hot chiles (see attached). I wouldn't mind normally if this was a free option, but i paid 2 dollars extra for this. My wife's hotdog also tasted quite good. Since the order only included bacon and jalapenos, I was expecting that there would be plenty of each. There indeed was plenty of bacon, but there were only 4 thin slices of jalapeno (see attached; one was already eaten). Lastly, the fries were excellent. They tasted well seasoned and the beef tallow adds a nice depth of flavor. Overall, I believe 3/5 stars is a fair review. This place could very easily be 4-5 stars with some slight changes. Pros: Great flavor, cooked well, friendly and timely staff. Cons: Mediocre value for what you pay, missing items/attention to detail, allergens are not clearly listed on menus. read more

Always down to try a new burger in Simi. Little Benny is nifty because their menu is more condensed as they focus on a eat in or takeaway premium smashburger. You can tell that the patty is something special, it is actually quite thick and has a nice beef flavor. No thin nothing patty here. The cheese is also plentiful and rather rich. So the burger itself gets good marks. The beef tallow fried fries are also quite tasty. They had solid flavor that I quite enjoyed. My little gripe here comes with the idea that my fries, on a togo order, were not as fresh/warm/crispy as I would have liked. I can imagine with fresh fries, this place is even better. And furthermore, the price does seem a wee bit painful for me. Double burger, fries, shake, $30. Owie. read more

We came here for my sister in laws birthday and they had the Little Benny section closed for a private event so we were sat in the Cork & Batter section. I tried to order my burger "Chopper" style- I had to go to the website to learn what that meant since it's not explained on the menu- and was informed they don't do that anymore. You just opened, how is your menu already out of date? Waiting for our food waitress dropped a handful of ketchup packets in the middle of the table. Later comes out with a tray of our burgers and proceeds to put the tray on the table and tell us "you can figure out who's is who's it's written on them". Mind you I had to pay when we finished ordering and tip came out to $30, what a joke. It has letters written on it but nothing discernible so it took a while to figure out who's was who's. After we get through that we figure out we're missing a fry. My brother in law has to get up and go physically find her as she was a ghost after taking our order. Eventually she brings us the missing fry + an extra- very nice as well as cards for a free single Benny for the error. This was the best bit of customer service. We unfortunately threw them in the trash as it was unanimously agreed this place isn't worth coming back to. Follow up review! So on my second visit I decided to try the LA dog and the chilli cheese fries in addition to the Double. A couple of hiccups with our order but the first was an honest mistake and the second was getting regular fries instead of the chilli cheese which might be attributed to trying to rush our food out without looking at the order to check. The cashier was running around trying to accommodate us which was nice but it was obvious that having one person taking care of orders and the entire floor isn't practical when things go wrong. Sadly, this visit was a let down. The LA dog was ok but lacking for the price. Its construction looks like a random mashing of bacon, onions, and a dog cut down the middle... The Chilli Cheese Fries line up with the LA dog experience being lackluster in flavor. It didn't give the impression of good quality chilli, the cheese wasn't great, and there was a slight sweetness that made me think of Filipino spaghetti. Overall it just takes away from the crispiness from the fries for disappointing flavor and a higher price. The Double. Oddly this wasn't nearly as good as the single I had before and I even added chopped chillies for $2 extra for barely any spice... the meat didn't taste seasoned and the flavor was somehow downgraded so I started adding ranch and their Benny sauce to my bites. (Ranch/benny sauce are just ok) Here's the good: the cashier is working hard and is super friendly. Here's the not so good: for the price the only thing I'd come back for is the regular fries which isn't very likely since there seems to be inconsistencies with the seasoning. For how much you're spending I would expect the flavors to be somewhat elevated... something along the lines of "mmm that's good bite" consistently. We tried this new smash burger spot out and it was okay. The burger and hot dog were tasty, but very pricey and the portion size was a bit small for what you pay for. The dining area was mid sized with booth type table seating and many TV's. The staff were friendly and helpful, but seemed a bit under staffed. Although the taste was good, the additional prices for toppings is bit much, while other places include toppings in the price. Overall, I like supporting local businesses, I think this was a one and done. Good luck to your business. read more

I know the smashburger style to have some of the meat hanging over the bun but this was extreme and you get a lot of bites of just greasy meat. The menu said onion-smashed but I did not see a hint of an onion. It also said dill chips and there were no pickles on it. Just meat, cheese, bun, sauce, and a couple of drops of mayo. I have been to probably 15 Smashburger places and this burger was well below average. The burger desperately needed pickes and jalapeños. I really wanted to like it because I am a local. Solid milkshake! Hand scooped vanilla ice cream mixed with the perfect amount of strawberry syrup so it wasn't too sweet. I got my milkshake right away (within 5 minutes of ordering). I wish the food came out sooner though, but I came on their 4th day of opening so I'm sure it will improve. The smash burger was good, but for $11 it should come with at least a small order of fries, because the burger was pretty small. Overall I would come back here again to try them out. read more

Went here with my family tonight, four people in total. We ordered 3 double cheese burgers, 2 LA dogs, one chili cheese fry, and 1 regular fry. Add on three drinks and you've made it to 105$. When the food came, everything arrived together - however, we got one extra fry and we were missing a LA dog. No biggie, they told us to keep the fry and they'd bring out the dog. Nice service. Service was not the issue - the food was. The burgers we got were all on buns that looked like pancakes, pressed thin due to so much grease. Of course burgers are naturally greasy, but I feel confident that there's a way to keep my bun from looking like Chris Farley wedged it between his cheeks while driving Billy Madison to school. The next issue was that the bacon they topped the dogs and my mom's burger with was nasty - barely cooked, super floppy and slimy... gross. When you charge people 14$ for a double cheese burger, you can't be giving us the butt press technique on the buns. When you charge 9$ for a bacon dog, you can't be giving us undercooked, nasty bacon. You get 1 star for kind hostess. You get 1 more star for good fries. I tried to support a new local joint... We were really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, for $52 including a 15% tip, we left very disappointed. I ordered a cheeseburger with onions, expecting the generous amount of onions you normally get with a smash-style burger. Instead, there were barely any onions, and the burger seemed to have only about 2 oz. of meat that was overcooked/burnt. I also ordered regular fries, which amounted to basically a small handful and were already room temperature when we received them. I ordered a Coke and was disappointed to find out they only have fountain drinks -- no bottled Coke. Booo! And for two orders of fries and two burgers, we were given just THREE little packets of Heinz ketchup. My husband ordered a double cheeseburger with onions. His had maybe two little pieces of onion on it and definitely wasn't what we would consider smashburger-style onions. His double burger seemed to total only around 4 oz. of meat, and unfortunately, it was burnt as well. He ordered the Fire Fries, but received regular fries instead. They were lukewarm and, again, only about a handful. The one standout was his shake -- that was actually VERY good! For $52 for two burgers, two small portions of fries, a fountain soda, and a shake, we expected considerably better portions, properly prepared burgers, hot fries, and the items we actually ordered. I've been waiting for a solid smash burger spot to open in Simi, so I was excited to check this place out. Walking in was a bit confusing at first--I wasn't sure how seating worked, and there wasn't anyone at the register. It sounds like they're still waiting on their beer license as well. Once someone came out, the service improved, but a few small things were missed (like napkins--which you definitely notice when you have two kids with you). The food itself was good and definitely the highlight. Overall, it felt like they may have opened a little early. The team seemed like they were still getting their footing, and things weren't as organized as they could be yet. That said, the potential is absolutely there. I'll definitely be back because the food was solid--I think they just need a little more time to get everything running smoothly read more

The menus were outdated, everything I ordered was no longer available. The place looked unfinished with decor or just unfinished with everything: Just looked and felt like something to do with the empty space. Service was not ideal, we were waiting at the cash register for 5min then my husband had to go find someone from the other side to get someone to take our order. Our family is happy to support any new restaurant that comes to town, but this is just a no for us. Last night it was wild in there. They may want to take a beat and just re evaluate the whole way of going about things. It was so chaotic and we felt terrible for the people working there. They had no help, no one to help interfere and help customers, clean up or even get people drinks, let alone answer questions, etc. We waited a bit to put our order in, fine....we helped bus our own tables, actually quite a few patrons decided to do that to help them out. The poor girl behind the counter was drowning and its terrible that there was no supervisior there to help. They just called out orders, had no idea what was being served, or to who it was going to. We asked for added things on our burgers, added malt to our shakes, made it a combo and so many things we did not receive. Though they were happy to charge us the extra $$. They even charged us for an extra shake on top of all the things we didn't get. We addressed it but never heard back from the girl, she was swamped. We just left and figured it was a donation to the restaurant. But come on, everything on that menu is overpriced for what you order - please get some more people in there to help make this business a success. Sadly, we will not go back. 4 of us went and it was well over $110 for a lot of stuff that didn't even make it on our burger or to our table. **And we are very aware it takes a minute to get the kinks out - that we do not deny. What they need is more help, and some guidance to thrive on all levels. My rating is not only based on the lack of leadership, but the food was not great either. little benny's, you and i have beef -- and not the good kind. their motto, displayed in bold text across the wall is "trust benny", and i don't. heres why: 1. in a nearly empty restaurant we waited 30 minutes for our order. while we were happy to wait patiently, multiple orders from our group were wrong or missing, mine included. i'm a breastfeeding mom whose baby has food sensitivities that, if eaten, causes my baby excruciating physical pain. i ordered a plain burger with no cheese, and my burger was delivered with mayo and onions. not only that, my burger was burnt to a crisp. i love smashburgers, but this one was truly nothing but black char. when my husband brought my burger back to the front to get a plain burger (as ordered on our receipt), the server said that the way it was completely burnt is just how they make it. weird. 2. while we waited for my replacement burger, we watched as others in the restaurant had their meals returned as well due to errors made. after another 30 minutes of waiting, my husband went to check on my order when the girl in the front realized and told us the cooks had forgotten to make my order (she was visibly frustrated that the cooks had not made it). another 15 minutes passed and my replacement burger finally arrived (1 hr 15 mins of waiting for my food at this point). i didn't even need to remove the wrapping to see cheese on the burger. lo and behold, they had messed up my (very simple) replacement order again. if an order was made incorrectly, someone should be responsible to check that the replacement was made right, but clearly that didn't happen. my group had been waiting to leave but held up by my order, so i put my new burger in our trash pile and left, hungry and upset. any breastfeeding mom knows how important eating is and i was so hungry but absolutely over waiting on the incompetence of the cooks. 3. paid $40 for two burgers and fries. at $14 for a double burger, the size and amount of burger is disappointing. not to mention, having to pay extra for iceberg lettuce and tomato on top of that (called "deluxe" on their menu) is a joke. true deluxe toppings are bacon and avocado -- not lettuce. you couldn't pay me to come back here. the poor girl working the front was all by herself and did her best, but seemed to be dealing with cooks who could not take an order for their life. where was management, especially considering they are a new restaurant? why was only one person working the front, both taking and delivering orders? why did it so long for a smashburger to be made? why does the menu not list any of its prices? why is the cost for something so basic, so high? there is another restaurant in town that makes smashburgers for literally half the price, with half the wait time, and wonderful staff. they also cook their fries in tallow, and you may or may not be able to get a latte while you're at it ;) i will continue to give that restaurant my business over this one. read more

We came to Little Benny's 4 days after they opened. It was really busy so it took awhile to get our food but it was delicious. Decided to come back tonight and was really disappointed. We came around 7:45 pm. It wasn't busy at all; maybe about 4 tables full. We ordered 3 deluxe doubles (double cheese burgers with lettuce and tomato), chili cheese fries and a chocolate shake. After almost 40 minutes we got our food. 2 of the 3 burgers were not deluxe (they charge more for deluxe style). Although I understand they are smash burgers, ours were burnt to a crisp. Chili cheese fries were soggy and not very good, and to top it off, the chocolate shake was in a smaller cup (almost half the size of when we came before but the same price).... I understand that new businesses need time to work out the kinks but after a few weeks, and it not being busy, the lack of consistency killed it for us. Especially for the price ($75.00). Was excited to try this place after hearing about it on TikTok from a friend. The clip on TikTok showed a very generously sized burger. When my buddy and I went we placed our order and sat. It took about 20 min for our food to come out and I ordered the burger with chopped chilis and each of us got a coke. The burgers and fries came out about 20 min later and the burger looked smaller and worse than a small cheese burger from McDonald's. Mine did not have the chopped chilis that they upcharged $20 for and we did not receive our cokes. Also, we were not presented with any ketchup or napkins (that we asked a couple times and then the brought them). Our food was on our table for about 5-8 more minutes and then our cokes were brought out and he delivered a small bowl with the chilis you'd see at The Habit or In n Out for free. Needless to say, I'm glad we went to see what the hype was about but I will not be revisiting. Wanted to try this place from all the videos i've been seeing online recently. Walked in and the place was pretty full, a few tables were empty and full of trash. Waited to order for maybe 10 minutes and those tables were never cleared, had to clear them to sit somewhere yourself. This place is very pricy for a normal cheeseburger, you can go to beach house for way cheaper and honestly better burger. If you ask for something to not be on your burger it will come with it on it. We were charged for an extra milkshake and we never got our order of fries and when we asked to get it fixed the lady at the register took our receipt and never came back. When we asked about it she gave two free burger cards, so they were never going to fix their mistake. When we finally got a milkshake we had waited the whole meal for, we were telling the worker that was ours he was holding and he looked at our table of my other family members milkshakes and asked are you sure. We also ordered a malt and he screamed chocolate milkshake, and when we said we had ordered a malt he said oh ya it's a malt, just seems like it's whatever they want it to be. Lots of upcharges for things you aren't getting, just seemed really confusing in there and nobody knows what's going on, disappointing will not be going back. read more
