After having my plans for the day ruined, I found myself at Tommy's. My friend and I got a chili cheese burger and fries. The burger was greasy and a bit messy but pretty solid with a well portioned amount of chili. The chili was not overpowering and the burger was nice and warm. Shockingly, it came out in less than five minutes after ordering which was perfect because I was starving. The fries were decent. Personally, I liked the bigger fries because they were thicker. Overall, they had the perfect amount of salt. It's a very clean and organized interior that reminds me of In-N-Out. The cashier was nice, no problems with them. read more

The question I have for the readers on this review is What is The Original Tommy' known for? THERE CHILI As I order at drive thru. I order 3 chili cheese burgers. The lady on the intercom says I am sorry sir we are out of chili, it was a slow day and we didn't make enough chili. I said what. I have been going to Tommy's for over 30 years I have never heard that one before. In my opinion the started to close shop early. They close at 11:00pm. I hope management reviews this review and contacts me and investigate this location. I try to do business in my community, not at this location anymore. I stopped by this Tommy's location finally after 4 years of working in Simi Valley. It also been over 10 years since I last ate a Tommy's burger. This location is very close to my work office and I was in the plaza at the bank. So today was the day for me to finally try their burger again. When I came, there was no one else here so I think I was their first customer of the day. I got the double chessburger and asked for no chilis or onion. There was just 1 worker there today and he prepared my order. The inside colors remind me of In N Out because it looks so similar and this location still have the soda fountain machine. My burger didn't take long to make and I ate it at the office. I thought the burger was decent, it's not my favorite burger but it was a good lunch. I personally like their fries but it been a while since I last had it and the price is high. read more

The food tonight was the same as we are used to. The problem was that they screwed up a three item order at the drive thru, they subbed a box of chili fries for the chili cheese hot dog we ordered and paid for. They even put the larger hot dog box on top of the chili fries box, then added the regular fries on top of everything so checking was not that easy in the dark. The BAG felt correct, two boxes and then the fries; you all fooled me pretty good. I salute Tommy's for hiring such diligent people who seem to be best at fooling around, not sure having them at the drive thru is a good idea, but what do I know? Sure, everybody makes mistakes, and I guess the fact that they showed up for work is something these days, but hiding their "errors" like they did tonight requires special talents. The food is okay...but WAY overpriced for what you get. Over $15 for a small hamburger, less than a whole potato worth of fries, and a drink. I wasn't even given a straw for my drink. Absolutely ridiculous, even in the current climate when it comes to the cost of fast food. So... I just can't resist Tommy's Promos! As a USC student in the early eighties, I spent many of late evenings at The Original Tommy's on Beverly and Rampart. Their chili is to die for and is still the same after all these years. Today they had the two chili-cheeseburgers for the price of one. As always, I asked for extra chili to dip my fries in, and their excellent staff loaded them up. Fries and a ton of whole yellow peppers (are you listening In-N-Out) were more than I could handle. I haven't been to Original Tommy's in 25 years and somehow talked my bride of 20 plus years into going. The hamburgers and chili are exactly the way I remember: onion, a big slice of tomato, a splash of mustard and savory chili. Delicious! Fries are the same and with the chili, my tummy is very happy. Also, I threw in a chili dog and there was a nice snap on the dog and a little mustard and onion is junk food perfection. I placed the order to go but never, ever do the drive thru. Better, friendlier service is always face-to-face and ensures your order is correct (even when you're placing the order to go). The people inside are friendly and explained the new menu options since 25 years ago. They had a burger (without chili) with lettuce and thousand island dressing. Check out the other options. Yes, prices have gone up but what hasn't? People sometimes try and compare Tommy's to In 'N' Out Burger but, really, they two entirely different kinds of burgers. It's a matter of preference (if you don't like it, go to elsewhere). If you don't think the prices are okay, a Happy Star burger awaits for you next door at Carl's Jr. Thanks for the memories! Oh how it has changed. For many years the location on Rampart and Beverly was the place to go to after a long night. The Quality is not the same anymore. Not sure if they still make their chili or if purchased from another vendor,There is a difference now. The Chili here at this location was very thick and very oily. So I would suggest that you stir the entire bowl of chili before putting on a burger. The other thing that was missing,or should I say that has changed was the size of the tomato. It used to be thick in size,now like a piece of onion. I miss the way it used to be. Don't stop doing the things that got you where you are. Remember, the sign say's Tommy's.
