The chill vibe

Never disappoints!!! The legendary Simi establishment is one of our family favorites. For Birthdays and celebrations we tend to migrate here. We love the drinks ( you must get a strawberry margarita they still have the cool blended ones) killer chips n salsa, the chilled salad plates ( makes all the difference in the world) and just delicious food! We love the darkened vibe and the way you feel transported when you enter. I also love that the servers have been there forever! These guys all long time employees which speaks volumes about the place.

Stopped in quickly for a drink and a couple tacos in the bar before a movie and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The chicken was absolutely delicious and so very flavorful all on its own, which I can so appreciate! Also, they have fruit purer for the margaritas and to keep, that makes ALLLLLLL the difference between ok and absolutely AMAZING! Will be back again soon...

One of my favorite restaurants and a go-to spot for our friend group. The cocktails are top-notch--especially the margaritas--and the food is both delicious and satisfying. I love the fajitas, and the service is consistently impressive. The ambiance and lighting create a cozy, private feel in each booth. Can't wait to dine here again soon!

What an awesome restaurant! I love the vibe and decorations. The service was fabulous! Both the servers and bussers were very attentive. I had the mixed fajitas and the steak was unbelievable along with the peppers and onions. Chips and salsas were delicious. They have a spicier salsa as well that you should definitely try. Oh and the Mexican pizza is a must! It's huge! We will definitely be back!

28. Two Chicken Mole Enchiladas Combo Dinner

Had some dinner here the other night with the family! It was 4 of us and they told us the wait time would be at least 25-30 minutes, but it took maybe 15 minutes to be seated on a Friday night. We ordered some margaritas, I got the raspberry margarita, pretty good! I also ordered the chicken mole enchiladas, they were really good and I got an Albondigas soup with it! Pretty tasty! Chips and salsa are always good! They have a pretty decent size menu, I would love to come back and try more of the menu!

I found Don Cuco Mexican Restaurant by accident, while dining at another location in the Simi Valley vicinity. Came here for dinner a few days later, on a Friday night and got a table at short notice. One striking feature as you enter the establishment is that the lighting is red (yes, most of the light bulbs are red). So everything gets a red hue and it can take sometime to get adjusted (unless you still go to the disco), so that you can observe, read the menu and order. First came the warm chips with salsa. Both of these were good. Other party members had margaritas and liked them. For food, there were 3 dishes, all of which were dinner combos (rice and beans). The fried burrito with chicken, two chicken tamales and two lobster enchaladas. The first two were just okay, nothing to write home about. I am always apprehensive about lobster menu items and this item confirmed that uneasiness. The server said there would be chunks of lobster. Instead there were un flavorful shreds of meat with a seafood taste. I was disappointed. The black beans were cooked al dente and were tasty. Fried ice cream for a member of our party was well received. Service was informative, friendly and excellent.

Is it still really dark inside the restaurant?

Yea it is

Do the combos still come with albóndigas? I don't see it mentioned on the menu anymore.

Yes soup and salad is offered at dinner time only with the combinations. You can add the soup or salad at lunch for extra. Hope this helps ! Thank you

I cannot wait for them to get their Wine and Beer license so I can come here with my girlfriends; this would be great for all occasions. I would recommend this to anyone; it was very delicious. The place was very cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The service was quick, which is perfect for a lunch break. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more items from their menu. This place is definitely a gem in the area, and I'm excited to see it grow even more once they start serving wine and beer.

They had Thursday…read moreNight Football on, which meant that we could stay and eat our dinner until half time, then head home. When we arrived, about 6 p.m., we were the only ones in the place. The young cashier at the register immediately sprang to duty when we walked in. He greeted us and offered to answer any questions we had about the established menu items, or the daily specials. His friendliness was probably the best part of the visit. The dining room is clean and bright; not really decorated in any particular style, which is too laissez faire for my taste. In thinking about why I didn't enjoy it more, I reflect on Snapper Jack's Taco Shack in T.O., for an example of what an inviting, fun atmosphere can be. Urban Taco's ambiance is bland, very vanilla. The food turned out to be only okay. We didn't know how big the tacos would be, or if anything came on the side. After we ordered one taco apiece, the cashier suggested that most people got for at least two tacos, as they aren't that large. I decided to order a gyro for us to split, as it was more than double the price of a taco, so I figured it would be more substantial. My salmon taco with mango salsa was just so-so. The salmon was dried out and didn't have much flavor to add to the mix. The gyro which DH and I split was more satisfying, taste-wise. The cucumber sauce upped the flavor profile. The meat, while tasty, and tender, was lacking in quantity. Unlike the aforementioned Snapper Jack's, which offers either a side of rice & beans, or a handful of chips, plus a generous salsa bar with accompaniments as part of each order, Urban Taco just gives you a taco, or a gyro. No sides at all. That was disappointing. A few chips and some salsa would have been appropriate. I wasn't interested in any of their beverage options to purchase, so we went with complimentary water flavored with lemon and cucumber. Overall, not the best value in town. Not "expensive", but for only the listed items and no sides, lacking in satisfaction. I don't think we'll be rushing back.

Didn't really feel welcomed. I got as much welcome as from a fast food establishment, which isn't all too bad...just doing the job. Cons: Food was bland (breakfast burrito and Huevos con Machaca) compared to Mission Burrito. Salsa, came in plastic bottles red or green, were very weak. Overall, price for food was average. But considering what we didn't get which is flavor, I thought price was too much. Not sure if I'd return, but only if someone pays for my meal first which I'll gladly reimburse if they made it better. 3 stars is average, so I'd give it a 2.5 at most.

My friends and I came here for dinner the other night and I was absolutely blown away by this spot…read more Visually, it's a stunning place and they've done a fabulous job with the aesthetic as it's the kind of place that feels like a party. Neon lights, cute signage, and overall they just did a really great job with the design and execution. There's a lot going on but it doesn't feel cheap. Ambiance is definitely A+. For dinner on a weeknight we found this spot wasn't too busy but we also came after happy hour. It was a relaxed vibe. Service was overall pretty good. I felt like all of the gals working were very very sweet and nice. Also, anytime we stopped them to ask for refills and such we got what we asked for. That's my only upgrade as since it wasn't super busy, it would have been nice for the staff to catch the refills on water or salsa on their own/more proactively but hey, it was again a relaxed lowkey night and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. I'm just curious how the service would be if they were super busy? Now on to the food and drinks. The menu was very impressive! Solid cocktail and drinks menu. I'm bummed I didn't get a cocktail but my party doesn't drink so it was more fun to get an agua Fresca with them. The guava one was good and served nicely chilled. However, next time I'll definitely get a cocktail because their drinks looked fun and beautiful. The food was definitely the standout for me. I ordered the cheese enchiladas Suizas and they were a 10/10. Not comparable to most enchiladas I've had but the sauce was fantastic and unique. I really loved these enchiladas and I'd honestly get them again. Solid flavor in the rice and beans as well. My friends also enjoyed their meal and it seemed like everyone was happy. The pricing is a little steep for Mexican food but also the ambiance and presentation make sense to me why it'd be a little more. For the three of us the bill was over $100. And that's for three mains and three non-alcoholic drinks. Normally at $33-ish a person I'd hope for at least a beer with my enchiladas, so keep that in mind. As a special occasion place or a spot to celebrate this spot is truly fantastic. I honestly loved my meal so much that even with the price point I'd rush back and bring more friends because this spot is vibey. Nice staff and a cute spot to diner, 5 stars in my books given the quality, taste of the food and the overall experience.
