    Updated menu since management changed.
    Nathan P.

Urban Taco is under new management and is now owned by the amazing chef who used to run the El Tacon 118 food truck. With new management comes an updated menu. For those familiar with El Tacon 118, you'll be glad to know their menu has basically been transferred over to this brick and mortar location. Same incredible birria, al pastor, tripa, asada and chicken burritos and tacos. They've also added several new (at least new to me) items like brunch options, kids options and beverages. The location is beautiful, clean and welcoming. But most importantly, the food is just as delicious as it was when they were serving it out of their food truck window. I'm really happy they were able to secure a permanent location and hope they stick around for years to come!

Came here for lunch for the first time right when they opened. Restaurant was very clean and the young lady at the counter was very friendly. I ordered one al pastor taco & one fish taco. They brought out some chips & salsa which were very good. The chips tasted fresh and lightly salted, the salsa was good, not too spicy. The al pastor taco was OK, it was lacking in flavor. The fish taco was better. I think it was served on a flour tortilla, I like my fish tacos on corn tortillas. I guess I should have tried the shrimp taco. I will go back and order some different things.

Urban Taco was a pleasant surprise with their tacos. While not the best on earth, they were certainly loaded with 100% fresh and tasty ingredients. My one complaint was with the corn tortillas. They didn't taste homemade, and in fact, almost stale. Plus, they weren't heated, which I would have preferred, to be honest... but what was inside of them was quite good. The carne asada was very tender and flavorful, and with the shrimp tacos, everything had great flavor... and solid amounts of ingredients. I especially loved the vinaigrette on the cabbage or coleslaw.... really delish. The rice had a lot of flavor, and the guacamole was solid. The salsa was perfectly thick, which I love, but I didn't love the flavor. It was smoky, which I don't like, and it had a very slightly sweet aftertaste... just not my preference. I didn't mark down for that, but just noting it for observation. The corn tortillas are what lowered the star rating for me. Those need improvement, BUT I'd DEFINITELY come back here because everything else was so well done. One more thought, the menu was a bit limiting, if not a little bizarre. I appreciate their wanting to offer choices from a few cultures, but they may want to stick with just one culture and more items from that one... but that's just my thinking.

Tacos were ok. Meats were lighty seasoned. Nothing really stood out. I would say the tripa was my favorite.

New place for tacos in Simi. Same owners as Blue fin, which is in the same plaza. I came here for lunch with my coworkers on a Thursday. Wasn't busy so we were able to put in our orders and got our food fairly quick. I ordered 3 tacos : tempura avocado, San Antonio, and their classic Al pastor taco. I appreciated that the tortilla was made fresh, and the tacos came heavy ! My favorite taco was the Al pastor. The San Antonio taco reminded me of a chalupa at Taco Bell. The Tempura Avocado was Ok- I think it needed more seasoning. Restaurant takes card. Would probably come back for a quick lunch.

The tacos are delicious! Just do it! The Baja fish tacos, Al Pastor are my easy go-to, and I try a diff one each time!

I stopped by here yesterday to grab lunch, I was looking around on Yelp what taco places was near my work and this one had good reviews so I decided to check it out. I been to the plaza this place is at since I went to the Chase bank so I was familiar with the area. Finding parking was fine but since it's near a 24 fitness, it might be different in the evening time. When I walked in, I already knew what I wanted since I looked at their menu online. I got the chicken burritos with no beans and asked for extra salsa. It took about 10 minutes for my burrito to be made and then I asked for some hot sauce. I asked the cashier for which one she would recommend and she said the habaera but I went with the standard hot sauce. When I got back to the office, I ate my burrito there and it was pretty good. They give a decent amount of chicken and rice so I enjoyed my burrito. It didn't fall apart while I ate it and the salsa gave a great taste. I just wish they had Pico de gallo since that's my favorite but it wasn't the end of the world. The only thing that confuse me was when I paid and looked at my receipt, it said Bluefin Grill and Sushi instead of Urban Taco. My score: Food: 5 star, I enjoyed my burrito and the salsa taste great. It didn't fall apart while I ate it and you get a decent ratio of chicken & rice. Service: 5 star, the service I received was great and the person working the cashier help give recommendations when I asked. Atmosphere: 5 star, the place is very nice and cleaned inside. They have some seats for you if you're going to eat there. Parking: 5 star, you should find parking easier but it might be busy during the evening time since it's next to 24 Hr Fitness.

So... I've worked in many restaurants and cafes, front of house and back- and ran my own food truck- I can't believe the person they've selected to run the counter: this young female is not front of house material- No eye contact- no energy. Sorta ruined the experience for for me- tried a coupla things- the shrimp and fish tacos were as bland as the hostess- the Korean and Vietnamese were tasty- but not enough to bring me back.

Great new place in town. Tacos, burritos and gyros. The produce used is very fresh. I had the chicken burrito which was fantastic. Loaded with rice, beans, salsa and cheese and is grilled. It tasted fantastic. Also had the pork Al pastor taco and the banh mi taco. Excellent place!

Food is good but expensive for what you get. Better off having a proper meal with service at Palapas, Elvira's, etc.

There is ample parking. No problem finding a spot close by. Once we entered the restaurant, the server asked if we were ordering takeout. I let him know we walked to dine in. He told us to grab a seat and brought menus. There is a limited alcoholic drink selection - beers and margaritas. The margaritas are legit! Tasty and strong, just how we like them. We were super impressive with the quality and freshness of the food. You could tell that the tortillas were homemade. My husband got the carne asada plate. He loved it! I tried a bite of his taco - delicious! I ordered the Huarache which is a tortilla stuffed with beans and a good selection of toppings. I got the carne asada. I added avocado to my dish too. Additionally, we ordered a side of guacamole too. The guacamole and salsa come with chips. If there is one thing I would change, the chips. They seemed store brought. I might be spoiled after eating everything else that was so delicious made. Definitely will be back! Excited to try more too.

It was quiet and chill, a good family-friendly place with a chill staff. The food was sooooo good and I will definitely go back again, I'm so excited to crave Mexican and return here LOL. The burrito with pork was delicious and the red and green salsas it came with only added to the flavor. My boyfriend also noted how it wasn't too heavy which was nice, and I'd agree that nothing was too greasy or heavy. My tacos (I got 2 asada & 1 chorizo) were pretty good too, like I said, I really liked the salsas they gave you-- it was a good spicy, and I would love to try more of their menu. Als, the portions were decent too-- very filling but not too much I couldn't finish it.

Neon lights, cute signage, and overall they just did a really great job with the design and execution. There's a lot going on but it doesn't feel cheap. Ambiance is definitely A+. For dinner on a weeknight we found this spot wasn't too busy but we also came after happy hour. It was a relaxed vibe. Service was overall pretty good. I felt like all of the gals working were very very sweet and nice. Also, anytime we stopped them to ask for refills and such we got what we asked for. That's my only upgrade as since it wasn't super busy, it would have been nice for the staff to catch the refills on water or salsa on their own/more proactively but hey, it was again a relaxed lowkey night and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. I'm just curious how the service would be if they were super busy? Now on to the food and drinks. The menu was very impressive! Solid cocktail and drinks menu. I'm bummed I didn't get a cocktail but my party doesn't drink so it was more fun to get an agua Fresca with them. The guava one was good and served nicely chilled. However, next time I'll definitely get a cocktail because their drinks looked fun and beautiful. The food was definitely the standout for me. I ordered the cheese enchiladas Suizas and they were a 10/10. Not comparable to most enchiladas I've had but the sauce was fantastic and unique. I really loved these enchiladas and I'd honestly get them again. Solid flavor in the rice and beans as well. My friends also enjoyed their meal and it seemed like everyone was happy. The pricing is a little steep for Mexican food but also the ambiance and presentation make sense to me why it'd be a little more. For the three of us the bill was over $100. And that's for three mains and three non-alcoholic drinks. Normally at $33-ish a person I'd hope for at least a beer with my enchiladas, so keep that in mind. As a special occasion place or a spot to celebrate this spot is truly fantastic. I honestly loved my meal so much that even with the price point I'd rush back and bring more friends because this spot is vibey. Nice staff and a cute spot to diner, 5 stars in my books given the quality, taste of the food and the overall experience.

I also saw they had a taco flight. I knew I had to try those as well. I wanted to try all the different meat options to find the flavors I like. The Birria taco was my favorite flavor. Some of the meats were a little dry. I wish they had a little more flavor to them. They gave me two different salsas to add and that helped. But I would definitely like to see the flavors of the tacos improve. I always crave sushi. That was a must try for me. I thought I would try the fiesta mariachi roll for the first trip here. It was delicious. I'm craving more! I think next time I will have to try some of the other sushi options since this one was so good. Also since they basically have flights for everything.....
