Not sure what was going on, but the Mrs and I stopped in for a couple of hot dogs, the all beef type served how we like them. Both were burned, of course we only noticed this after we drove home. We also did something dumb, we tried one pastrami item, something to split just to give it a whirl. Three words for the reaction; rubbery, salty and nasty, yeah, the bread was soggy on top of the really awful pastrami. That is a one and done item, and I'm still unhappy about my burned kraut dog. Sometimes I just want a hot dog - simple, tasty, just filling enough. Dear Hubby and I had been out on an errand, and this was a reasonable place to stop on the way back home. As with virtually everything, "cheap eats" this no longer is, but you have to take that in stride. I like my hot dogs on the simple side - brown mustard, sweet pickle relish, chopped onions, and fresh tomatoes. They delivered on that, but it was overstuffed and messy to eat. DH ordered some kind of combo deal, so the total led to sticker shock for the final bill. So, after thinking about going to the Wienerschnitzel here in Simi for years, I finally decided to go for it. Their 5 dog special had a little to do with it, but I do have fond memories of going to Der Wienerschnitzel with my dad and always getting a mustard dog or a chili dog. The store in Simi was spotless and the small staff was really nice and efficient. I had two tasty chili dogs and a corn dog. Both were perfectly cooked and actually brought back nice memories. Last time I went here I got a polish sausage. It was delicious. But they either steam the bun, which just makes it all wet, or microwave it, which turns the bread into a rock. So one half lost point there. And upon greeting, I got "would you like to try the ...." EVERY time a vendor tries to push something down my throat, my instant response is "no, guess again." Don't usually come to this place, but I saw that they had advertised root beer floats. They were about $4.80. Pretty cheap compared to a Starbucks coffee. I was expecting a 12 ounce small size but was rather overjoyed to see a very large cup, 22oz and lots of ice cream made with delicious Mug root beer. This was one of the best rootbwer floats I've ever had honestly. Highly recommend going there for this. I don't know about the other food, but I will be back. Tried to contact their corporate office twice. Never got a reply, The female manager there was rude, short and could care less about the customer's needs ordered my food at the drive-thru sat at the window. Almost 10 minutes. My food was just sitting there and they would not hand it to me ask the employee. Could you please hand me my food he said I will in a minute. I waited asked him again. Can you please just hand me my food. I need to get back to work he goes. Yeah give me a minute while he's running back and forth from cash register to cash register. Trying to wait on the one and only person inside of the lobby. He is inept cannot do a transaction on one. Register has to run back and forth several times processing a purchase. While the drive-thru line is backed up. They won't hand me my food and I asked for the manager and she was short with me and I told her that is ridiculous. I've been here 10 minutes. I'm from the midwest and I'd never seen a Wienerschnitzel before. The name is so confusing to me, especially since I've been to Germany and Austria and I know what wienerschnitzel is, a fried cut of tenderized veal traditionally from Vienna or in viennese style. So imagine my surprise when I went to this Wienerschnitzel and found that they served hot dogs. So I assume it's from the "wiener" in Wienerschnitzel that refers to the hot dogs, however any German or Austrian knows that "wiener" refers to anything that comes from "Wien" which is the German name for Vienna. This is American ignorance at it's best. Well, I was overwhelmed and slightly disgusted by the menu so I got what seemed to be a chili dog of some sorts. I've lived in Detroit so I know all their is to know about the coney dog. This was similar but way grosser. It was dare I say inedible. The fries would have been ok if cooked through and didn't have a hard cold center. The Dr. Pepper was ok. On their website, they offer online ordering as do most fast food franchise and restaurants do etc. They even offer delivery but I haven't tried that. This location has always been great and well, and I usually order online and picking up. However, today, I am not sure if she is a manager, but she informed me that for Doordash, I would have to park in the front. Clarified to her I wasn't DoorDash, and yet on the receipt, I don't know if it's their system or them, but it printed door/delivery. But even after I've explained it to her I've ordered online and done this quite a few times before, it hasn't been issue. She tells me that when they see an online order, they assume it's Doordash and that you would have to park out front and go inside. Even though she was professional, the 2 stars for me is the fact that she stated they assume online orders are Doordash and therefore, even though I wasn't, I would be required to park in the front. I would not recommend assuming your customer is Doordash or assuming all online orders are. Or perhaps add an addendum to your website about online orders? I don't know how a fast food hot dog joint got so expensive, but whatever, sometimes I don't mind the $ when I want some tasty fries & a chili cheese dog. I cannot understand why it is impossible to get a correct order when new employees are hired. My order taker correctly entered my order as my receipt proves, but returned my hotdogs to the kitchen, then bagged my order and gave it to me over the counter. Rather than the mustered ordered, there was Catsup. The assembler in the kitchen removed the onions I didn't order, double checked my order, didn't catch the Catsup instead of Mustard and the counter order taker also failed to notice Catsup and not Mustard. I did speak to the manager on the past about this continuing issue. Worse, the chili cheese fries had enough chili and cheese for a half order, not a regular order. Only car in the drive through and food took longer than normal. The window girl was very nice but the chilli cheese dog was sloppy and sauce was all over the place. I just left the drive thru and pulled off to write this review. These guys work so hard and it is so miserably hot today that everyone is probably ready to explode, but there were a few cars in line and someone in a few cars back had kids and ordered ice cream (don't think they had a/c in the car) and a very nice male employee got their ice creams and ran out to the car to give it to them while they waited in line. That is just an awesome thing to see and I applaud you sir. It may seem small, but in today's world ITS BIG! ********THIS IS AN EDIT******** I got a message from Yelp that I had a reply to the I left yesterday, and while I was here I scrolled down to see that 3 months ago, another customer had a female employee bring her ice cream to her car...I see others appreciate this small gesture as something we just don't see anymore (sad but true).
