Let me preface this by saying that this review is not due to something specifically bad during our visit. It just isn't "our cup of tea". First time here and was going due to the hype on facebook. However, this is just not our type of restaurant - it feels like a "club"! The music is loud and has a constant "beat" to it. The menu is very simplified - like a club or bar. And they have a lot of specialty drinks. However, those drinks didn't have a lot of alcohol because I'm not even buzzed after 2 $14 margaritas. The flavors were very interesting - for both the food and drink. -that was one thing we did enjoy. But i was disappointed in my asada wet burrito - 1/2 had very little meat but a lot of rice and the other had some meat but I didn't like how small they cut up the asada. I prefer strips in my burrito. Also, the verde sauce was just a tad too sweet for my taste. Also had carnitas tacos and while they were pretty good they just didn't have a lot going for them with toppings. We really wanted to like this place but upon walking out we just don't think this a place would want to go back to. It seems like they are catering to a much younger clientele. read more

We waited over and hour WITH a reservation. A week in advance we made a reservation for 16 on Cinco De Mayo for a friends birthday. No trouble at all. My husband and I get there 30 minutes before our reservation to check-in, in case there's still a bit of a wait. When I check in and clarify that we'd be all good for our large party at our set time. They assured me "yes--on time". The time comes, our whole party in there, they say "another 20 minutes". Okay, it's Cinco De Mayo, it's busy, fine. We check in again, at least another HOUR. I'm sorry, what? They're super backed up because of the holiday, they over booked reservations, and they kept blaming our party size. They accepted the reservation, I was told it'd be no problem from the moment I got there. It was past 9pm and I'm so thankful MB Grille sat our large party right away. read more

The only place in Simi Valley with delicious Mexican food and drinks. The atmosphere is amazing with great music. Dj plays from 7 to midnight. The service is also amazing and the bartenders hook it up with plenty of alcohol. Will definitely keep coming back. read more

I was highly disappointed. The service workers were disrespectful and the food was below average. Do not recommend trying this place out. Tried speaking to the manager and he was just as unhelpful. Won't be coming back. read more

This is a very different restraunt than Siminian's are use to. I it!!! Glad its not your typical greasy Mexican food. It is unique and trendy and love it!!! Drinks are enjoyable. They are not stiff, you will enjoy one or two. Love the music vibes. Yes it takes a while to get a table so just be patient as this is the best place to open up in Simi in a very long time. read more

First, the food is really good. Second, service is hit or miss. Good to terrible. Third, ambiance is sketchy. Too loud for a conversation. Music videos are like soft porn. One video showed a woman's bare legs spread for a mount. It was a side view, but dang. We really enjoy the food. The drinks are good too, but the portions are small. The main advice for Kalaveras is to improve the SERVICE! The main advice for families, is to sit away from the screens. read more

We went to the one in Pasadena a couple years ago and loved it. It was during lunch hour and it was quite. This was way too loud! We couldn't hear each other carry on a conversation without yelling to each other. Please tone down the volume, it's completely unnecessary (so loud that you really can't enjoy the music or the ambiance of the restaurant). The food and the service was great. Our waiter was spot on getting our food to us (even though we did order short rib nachos and we got chicken instead, it was knocked off of our tab). The drinks were very tasty. As soon as we walked in I was greeted with a margarita by the manager. Hell yes! We are looking forward to coming back, but please tone the volume down. Btw - the chips for our nachos were stale. (You know the music is too loud, when your waiter is yelling at you so can hear him)! Is this a restaurant or a nightclub? read more

Kalaveras is definitely an interesting place. Went on a Tuesday at 5pm and it was pretty dead. Our waitress was super nice and the drinks were good. They have a good happy hour and taco Tuesday; pork belly tacos for the win! However 1/2 through our dinner our waitress got switched to the other side of the restaurant and management didn't notify our table or the other servers in the section. When we tried to get the attention of the male server in our section he was a little snappy and seemed to be annoyed we asked him where are server was. Took about 30 minutes to get a server and went through 3 different servers for the rest of the meal. Even at happy hour with happy hour drinks and meal it's still a little pricey. read more

We've been a couple of times during the week and a couple for Sunday brunch, the food is good, it's what you'd expect for a buffet, service has been great, our waiter/server was Jaír and was more than attentive. Love to see when the servers/waiters come out with the drinks and sparklers. They do have music playing which adds a good vibe. read more

We've been several times and have noticed a continued improvement on the service and ambience every time. During our first visit, the music was way too loud and it felt like a night club, but they have since adjusted the music levels and ambience. We love taking our family here and the staff always treats our toddler with extra care. read more

Everything was great! Our drinks are not pictured but they were delicious. Plenty of margaritas and other drinks to choose from. Love the inside too. We will be coming back! our server however could be more attentive. We had to flag down other servers for extra napkins, refills, or sides of salsa or sour cream. read more

The food was amazing. The service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. Waitstaff was attentive and friendly.

Drinks are good. Service is great. Food was meh. Two of us got the mole enchiladas and we both sent them back. Flavorless, just hot. The music is ridiculously loud. Don't come here if you want any type of conversation. One person left with a headache. I wore noise canceling earbuds to get through the meal. Won't be back. read more

So first me and my wife waited too long for our drinks and it wasn't that busy. Second, the waiter that attended us, who's name is Kevin, dropped diet Pepsi on my phone while giving our drinks very aggressively. Didn't even acknowledge or say sorry. Lastly, my dad kindly ask for guacamole and we got our food but the guacamole was never brought to us. The part that makes it more crazy is that we were charged for the guacamole. And I know My phone was on the table but he saw that he dropped it and just left. Doesn't matter what anybody says about who's at fault. A sorry would've been a correct simple way to resolve the issue. read more

Tonight we celebrated my husband's birthday and Olivia made our celebration perfect!!! She was so attentive, efficient and friendly!!! Olivia, it's because of you, and the crew who assisted you we will be returning!!! Also, the hostesses were AMAZING! The food was good I had the pasta a la diabla. Ill leave the description in the Pic attached.. It was good and tasty. My dad had the chicken quesadilla and three beef tacos.. We also enjoyed some drinks and for dessert we ordered the apple chimichanga with ice cream and fresh fruit. The service was quick and reliable but just wish it wasn't so loud with the music playing. I get it it's a restaurant, but I would like to be able to have a conversation and hear the other person instead of trying to yell. read more

The atmosphere is bright and fun. The music is bumping and the food is flavorful. I've tried breakfast from the menu and the buffet. It's one of the best buffets for the price. $40 and includes bottomless mimosas and so much variety in food. The food is so flavorful. I've not had a bad meal here. It's a great place to eat and celebrate. Birthdays are also a blast here - the shots are delicious and the show is even better! Sparklers and dancing! Great vibe! Simi needed this. read more

I had their brunch. The quality of food is low, the guy that makes omelets was MIA for my whole stay, also there was 4 birthdays and they play load music to sing happy birthday(it's loud like a club) with what I paid I rather go to fugo de chao hands down read more

First time visit at 5pm. Service and food is good but worth the $$... that is up to you. Seating arrangements and noise level knocked one star for us. Definitely need some rework with the table layout and when the servers have their meetings (around 5pm)... took awhile to meet our server... We had a great experience with the servers overall. When ordered, the food was great and fast but the ambiance was an issue. Hard to hear and my seat was facing the outside. Very difficult to turn and see the place while being squeezed between two larger tables as well as being hovered over by everyone visiting such tables... Tip: don't read more

I would say Kalaveras is somewhere to take cool pictures of your drinks. The food was horrible!! I ordered the mole enchiladas and my husband ordered 2 tacos. He said the meat was dry and flavorless. How does one possibly mess up tacos??? I ate half an enchilada and a little rice and immediately my stomach felt funny. We didn't even make it home before we had to pull over so I can throw up. This place is definitely not a family friendly environment. They were playing music videos on their big screen TVS and at one point there was a song called booty playing with literally just butts in thongs. It wasn't until a parent said something before they changed the music. As far as service goes I cannot complain. We sat in the bar area and there was only 2 other people sitting there. The bar tender was very attentive and constantly asked if we needed anything else. All in all I personally feel this place is over hyped. Horrible food and overpriced drinks. Definitely not a place I will be visiting again. read more
