From Friday, July 24, 2026 - Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Kim's Kimbap is offering an exclusive BTS THE CITY ARIRANG set which includes 1 kimbap, dive sauce, and a limited-edition scarf. For the kimbap, there are two choices: Pork Belly Bossam Kimbap ($25) or Steam-Roasted Chicken Kimbap ($23). I arrived to Kim's Kimbap located on 6th Ave between 12th and 13th street about 10:50am, 10 minutes before Kim's Kimbap opens and the line was already around the block on 12th street. Everyone was very friendly and the line moved right at 11:00am. I still waited about an hour before I got inside and another 30 minutes till I got to the counter to order. The pork belly was already sold out, so I got the steam-roasted chicken. It was packed beautifully with the limited edition scarf. There are a few tables and a few countertop seats. I took a countertop seat and unwrapped the scarf and opened the box of kimbap and the dive sauce which is a rich, mayo-based Kimchi-Ssamjang sauce. I was incredibly impressed with how the kimbap was fully packed. I especially enjoyed dipping the kimbap into the dive sauce. It was really tasty and well worth the wait. The staff were working very hard and always had a smile on. All the kimbap is freshly rolled and you can see whole process.

I really enjoyed the sauce (Dive Sauce: a rich, mayo-based Kimchi-ssamjang sauce) as well. The staff were friendly and of course, busy and working as quickly as they could while still delivering the best quality and presentation of kimbap. I would definitely go back to order more of the chicken sets, even after the BTS Arirang event, and to try other options as well. There was quite a bit of sesting available and they also offer seafood broth to try ! I enjoyed the broth as it wasn't too salty and just the perfect amount of flavor. They were playing BTS' discography and the music wasn't too loud nor was it too noisy from conversation. The interior design was minimal but suited the store. I would definitely recommend trying this place out, especially if you do enjoy kimbap. Just a heads up, the rolls are HUGE. Just eating half of one filled me up.

They have all the usual Korean classics like steamed eggs, seafood pancakes, japchae, and grilled croaker. One of my favorite things about Korean restaurants is all the little side dishes of broccoli, macaroni salad, pickled cucumber, seasoned soy sauce boiled eggs and kimchi. The kimchi was my favorite because I like mine crunchy and not too sour. The seafood pancake came out crispy around the edges but soft in the middle, and you could see real pieces of shrimp and scallion in every slice. The japchae had a hint of sweetness from the bulgogi. The must get is the tofu soup, which makes sense given the name. It comes out in a hot stone pot, so do not let it get cold. You have to eat it hot. The broth was rich and a little spicy and the tofu was so soft it basically fell apart on your spoon. Another classic is their army stew. I like that they used an actual ham and not deli meat ham, its a small touch that makes this a hearty meal. Another favorite is the cheesy seafood stone pot rice. You can do the cheese pull and the bottom gets this nice crunchy crust. That crispy layer of rice at the bottom is the best part, especially when you scrape it up at the end. And they have addictive Korean fried chicken which makes sense since they're the same people from TADA fried chicken nearby. The chicken was juicy inside and a nice crunchy crust.
