    Yakitori Platter
    Helga M.

(This is the most fun review I have ever written and I have not even gone to Karaoke night yet.) This 5-star rating is largely due to the very crave-able food that the owner, Jason Wu, serves! I found his posts on a Facebook neighborhood group and made plans to go. Glad I did. This is a dive-y, low brow spot high on good food, good drinks, and friendly peeps. Amazing combinations. Jason so expertly "fuses" the best of Asian dishes together and comes up with items that other places would only dream of but not dare serve. This is not for the rigid when it comes to trying new things--especially with Asian food. Okay, let's talk scallion pizza crust pizza...am I right? You start not with the usual crust but with the complete food item that is scallion pancake, then top it with steak in sticky sauce and loads of melted cheese. This can go either way--really awful or really good. From a novice, it can be terrible. But here? Goodness, Y-U-M. I also had the wonton udon soup--their wonton is tender and meaty-delicious. I added fish tofu because I can. The Yakitori plate is a good gateway to the yummy Japanese skewered food. The sauce was not too sweet and I liked it. Several times, I regretted sharing my food with my husband (half kidding!). I wanted to order MORE items off the board and menu but that's just being greedy. We did share a bowl of Suffering Bastard--it was my first time to do a bowl drink as I don't like rum. This one has gin, brandy, pineapple juice...it was really good stuff. I am hooked. Go there hungry and review the photos prior so you can order without #FOMO. All looks and sounds good. Parking is ample. Their address is Coventry but really just past the West Warwick line. This is a low brow place with good folks, starting with the owner himself, Jason. No linens on table--in fact a lot are scratched. You go there for a good time and scrumptious food. If you like to sing, this place boasts of a popular Wednesday night Karaoke. It also has a small game room adjacent to the dining area. I saw a dartboard and a game machine. Not sure if there was Pinball but it looks like the kind of place that might. Just writing this is making me hungry again. I cannot wait to go back. I eyeball their online menu a lot. I am almost disappointed that they are closed on Sundays. Anyhoo, we really like the food in this place so if you believe an iota of what I say here, give it a try!

Here's another long one for ya! Do you wanna try something absolutely out of this world? You need to go to JW's Pub in Coventry! When you walk in the place it's packed with awesome memorabilia from movies and anime. If you're a nerd like me, it'll sing to your soul. Jason greets you warmly and makes you feel right at home. When he hands you the menu and you see what's on the boards for specials your mind will be blown and your tastebuds will immediately light up! We started off with some incredible apps and then got the Crispy Beef Scallion Pancake Pizza and the Corned Beef Scallion Pancake Pizza (cuz ya know... it is St Pat's weekend! ) Holy shyte! Every bite is a flavorful crispy bite of paradise! Who needs traditional dough when you can have a crispy flavorful base of Asian awesome?! This puts traditional bar pizza on the back burner for sure. It's not small like a traditional scallion pancake. They make em and serve them bar pizza sized. The cheese is melty ooey gooey savoriness. They don't skimp with the toppings and the flavor combos are fantastic. I see people talking about the "flop" and I can assure you there is no "flop" here. It stands at FULL attention and delivers a flovorable bite every time. BONUS... grab yourself a fishbowl! So good and not overly sweet. EXTRA BONUS... if you're into karaoke he hosts karaoke nightly from 9 to close. Definitely a whole new pizza experience and worth the drive from Boston!

They have an extremely diverse menu. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and ramen with kimchi broth and they were both crazy good. I spotted this place while driving them found them on yelp without realizing it until i got there. I'm definitely coming back. The diversity of the menu is extreme.

I've had this place on my list for a while and I was glad to find an excuse to come visit. The Asian Fusion with hometown pizza fare is such an interesting concept. The place has a dive bar feel with simple tables and chairs. The decor / ambiance leaves a little to be desired. But the food was good and so was the service. Our table ordered Pineapple Passion drinks (delicious), a few apps and a few entrees. The wings are really superb; dill pickle dry rub and the special sauce. Flavorful, crispy without being breaded, and a bit spicy. Would recommend. We also got the kimchi potstickers. They were good but not overly flavorful. We also had udon noodle soup in the kimchi broth. Good but not great. The broth was fantastic but it didn't have many noodles or any other ingredients. Our party also had a burger (one person loved it, the other didn't at all) and a scallion pancake pizza, which I had a bite of, and it was super yummy. I'd go back for the wings and to try a few more dishes. I did not love the single use utensils at all. For the price it's a great spot.

I've been to a couple of Friday night karaoke nights at JWu's and it is a loud fun place to be! (Especially if u love music...) There are a lot of great food and drink options (I especially loved the Yakitori Platter) and the wait staff and bartenders are cool, chill and attentive. Definitely a fun night out with the wife. ‍

Hadn't been back in a few months and wanted to try a new place for dinner so I decided on Jw's. Sat down on a Monday night it was quiet and very chill. I started off with the "banana and 2 coconuts" fish bowl for 2 and it was AMAZING!!! Jay knows how to mix a drink. Tasted awesome, mixed perfectly and I'm all about presentation. Served in a huge fish bowl type bowl with a nice heap or Swedish fish candy on top. So cute, visually appealing AF I loved it. Can't wait to try some other flavors. For food I got a BLT and fries which was delicious. Fries came out super hot and crispy just how I like em. BLT was on point. My bf ordered a burger he was very satisfied as well. Jay was perfectly attentive without being pushy or leaving you hanging. Overall great food, drinks and service all around. That's hard to come by these days. The inside is always clean with a nice spacious bathroom. Very mellow laid back crowd everyone keeps to themselves and just hangs. Looking forward to my next visit to JW's :-)

They aren't breaded or fried, which I like. Flavorful, hot and tender. I highly recommend them. I got the oxtail with rice and pinto beans. The portion was average but the flavors were spot on. Nice sauce and tender braised meats. My friend let me try her jambalaya, it wasn't like any I've had before, that's not saying it wasn't tasty it was just.... Lighter?! For lack of a better word. For having chorizo in it, I was surprised that it wasn't a heavier rice dish. It was something I would order because of that factor, however. It had nice subtle seasonings that highlighted the proteins in the dish. Very good imo. We got the churros for dessert and do me they fell short. They were dense and I overly "sugared". We weren't rushed and got to enjoy our visit and food at our own pace. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes. They had a full smoked BBQ menu in addition to the main menu, which intrigued me. Drop in and give it a try. It's not cheap but I feel worth the money and the portions, as I said, as average sized. I feel if they upped the cost $1 or $2 and beefed up the portions they may get a bigger crowd for that area. All in all def try it out. Cheers!

It's over-the-counter ordering, with pizzas another option, and more importantly, you can also get beer to complement your wings. -- Buffalo Wings: From the first visit, some of the best I've had in a long, long time. Not the biggest (I'd say right around average size), but they nailed every aspect, from the piercing tartness of the sauce to match the spice, to the butteriness, to the crispness of every surface, to the tender and juicy interiors on every piece. If that weren't enough, the blue cheese tipping sauce was also spectacular, with noticeable sharpness and lots of chunks of real cheese to go along with the creamy liquid. They matched the buffalo sauce nicely. -- Loganberry Wings: From the second visit, a Buffalo regional sauce mixing raspberry flavors with barbecue sauce. The result is a mix of sweet and savory in a rich, full-bodied sauce with plenty of oomph and plenty of cling. It's sweet for sure, but its barbecue sauce component cuts it and a dip into some ranch cuts it more while adding a little something. I loved the sauce. The wings, though, were a little bit smaller and a little bit dryer this time. Still very good. -- 716 Mulberry Chicken Fingers: Also from the second visit. Nothing like Chinese chicken fingers; more like a chicken tender, and more still like a chicken cutlet. Three flat pieces in the small order provided minimal thickness, but a decent amount of meat, spread out. The Mulberry sauce has a Buffalo base with some additional secret seasonings and other ingredients to change the flavor a bit. Not bad, but I think I'd go straight Buffalo next time. Tender inside, but no crispness outside. This includes fries, which were a very solid McDonald's facsimile. Notable: Easy parking in their own lot. A minimum 25-minute wait for wings, so plan accordingly. Friendly, helpful counter people. So two visits, one great, one very good. Some memorable sauces and some memorable presentations. I'll be back to see if they hit great again and get bumped to a 5.
